1 Frè m’ yo, nou menm ki gen konfyans nan Jezikri, Seyè nou an ki gen tout pouvwa pou li, nou pa dwe gade sou figi moun.
2 Sipoze de moun vin antre nan asanble nou, yonn gen yon bèl rechanj sou li ak yon bag an lò nan dwèt li, lòt la tou pòv ak yon rad chire sou li.
3 Si nou leve pou n’ salwe nonm ki gen bèl rechanj lan, epi nou di li: Msye, chita la nan bon plas sa a, epi si nou di pòv la: Ou menm, kanpe bò la a, osinon, chita atè bò pye m’ lan,
4 èske nou pa mete yon diferans nan mitan nou? Eske sa pa moutre nou gen move lide nan tèt nou lè n’ap jije moun?
5 Frè mwen renmen anpil yo, tande sa byen: Bondye chwazi moun ki pòv sou latè pou yo ka rich nan konfyans nan Bondye, pou yo ka jwenn pòsyon pa yo nan peyi li te pwomèt moun ki renmen l’ yo.
6 Men, nou menm, se meprize n’ap meprize moun pòv yo! Eske se pa moun rich yo k’ap kraze nou, k’ap trennen nou nan tribinal?
7 Se yo menm tou k’ap pale bèl non Bondye ban nou an mal.
8 Jan sa ekri nan Liv la, lalwa gran Wa a di: Se pou ou renmen frè parèy ou tankou ou renmen pwòp tèt pa ou. Si nou fè sa, nou fè byen.
9 Men, si n’ap gade sou figi moun, nou fè peche. Lalwa ap kondannen nou pou dezobeyisans.
10 Paske, moun ki obsève tout lalwa a men ki dezobeyi yon sèl nan kòmandman yo, se tankou si l’ te dezobeyi tout kòmandman yo.
11 Paske Bondye ki di: Pa fè adiltè, se li menm tou ki di: Pa touye moun. Konsa, menm si ou pa fè adiltè, men ou touye moun, ou dezobeyi lalwa a.
12 Se pou nou pale, se pou nou aji tankou moun ki gen pou pase anba jijman dapre lalwa ki ban nou libète a.
13 Paske, lè Bondye ap jije, l’ap san pitye pou moun ki te san pitye. Men, moun ki gen pitye pou lòt va soti tèt dwat lè jou jijman an.
14 Frè m’ yo, kisa sa fè pou yon moun k’ap di li gen konfyans nan Bondye, si li pa fè bagay pou moutre li gen konfyans lan vre? Eske konfyans sa a ka delivre li?
15 Sipoze gen yon frè osinon yon sè ki toutouni, ki pa manje kont li chak jou,
16 si yonn nan nou di yo: Ou mèt ale. Chofe kò ou, manje plen vant ou, san li pa ba yo sa yo bezwen, kisa sa ap fè pou yo?
17 Konsa tou pou konfyans nan Bondye a: si l’ pa fè nou fè sa ki byen, si l’ rete pou kont li, li mouri.
18 Men, gen moun ki va di: Ou menm, ou gen konfyans. Mwen menm, mwen fè sa ki byen. M’a reponn li: Moutre m’ ki jan ou ka gen konfyans san ou pa fè sa ki byen, mwen menm m’ap moutre ou jan mwen gen konfyans ak sa m’ap fè ki byen.
19 Ou kwè gen yon sèl Bondye. Ou fè byen. Denmon yo tou yo kwè sa, men y’ap tranble sitèlman yo pè.
20 Gade jan ou manke konprann! Eske ou vle wè ki jan konfyans pa vo anyen si l’ pa mache ak sa ou fè ki byen?
21 Abraram granpapa nou, èske Bondye pa t’ fè l’ gras poutèt sa li te fè lè l’ te ofri Izarak, pitit li a, sou lotèl la?
22 Ou wè. Konfyans li te mache ansanm ak sa li te fè. Konsa tou, sa l’ te fè a te fè konfyans li vin bon nèt.
23 Se konsa, pawòl ki te ekri nan Liv la rive vre: Abraram te mete konfyans li nan Bondye, epi Bondye fè l’ gras. Se sak fè yo te rele Abraram zanmi Bondye.
24 Ou wè: se pa sèlman paske yon moun gen konfyans kifè Bondye fè l’ gras, men se paske li fè sa ki byen anmenmtan an tou.
25 Se menm jan an tou pou Rarab, fanm movèz vi a. Eske se pa t’ poutèt sa l’ te fè a Bondye te fè l’ gras, lè l’ te resevwa mesaje jwif yo, lè l’ te fè yo pran yon lòt wout pou tounen lakay yo?
26 Menm jan yon kò ki san nanm se yon kò ki mouri, konsa tou, konfyans nan Bondye ki pa mache ak fè sa ki byen se yon konfyans ki mouri.

Jacques 2
1 Mes frères, que votre foi en notre glorieux Seigneur Jésus Christ soit exempte de toute acception de personnes.
2 Supposez, en effet, qu’il entre dans votre assemblée un homme avec un anneau d’or et un habit magnifique, et qu’il y entre aussi un pauvre misérablement vêtu;
3 si, tournant vos regards vers celui qui porte l’habit magnifique, vous lui dites: Toi, assieds-toi ici à cette place d’honneur! et si vous dites au pauvre: Toi, tiens-toi là debout! ou bien: Assieds-toi au-dessous de mon marche-pied,
4 ne faites vous pas en vous-mêmes une distinction, et ne jugez-vous pas sous l’inspiration de pensées mauvaises?
5 Écoutez, mes frères bien-aimés: Dieu n’a-t-il pas choisi les pauvres aux yeux du monde, pour qu’ils soient riches en la foi, et héritiers du royaume qu’il a promis à ceux qui l’aiment?
6 Et vous, vous avilissez le pauvre! Ne sont-ce pas les riches qui vous oppriment, et qui vous traînent devant les tribunaux?
7 Ne sont-ce pas eux qui outragent le beau nom que vous portez?
8 Si vous accomplissez la loi royale, selon l’Écriture: Tu aimeras ton prochain comme toi-même, vous faites bien.
9 Mais si vous faites acception de personnes, vous commettez un péché, vous êtes condamnés par la loi comme des transgresseurs.
10 Car quiconque observe toute la loi, mais pèche contre un seul commandement, devient coupable de tous.
11 En effet, celui qui a dit: Tu ne commettras point d’adultère, a dit aussi: Tu ne tueras point. Or, si tu ne commets point d’adultère, mais que tu commettes un meurtre, tu deviens transgresseur de la loi.
12 Parlez et agissez comme devant être jugés par une loi de liberté,
13 car le jugement est sans miséricorde pour qui n’a pas fait miséricorde. La miséricorde triomphe du jugement.
14 Mes frère, que sert-il à quelqu’un de dire qu’il a la foi, s’il n’a pas les oeuvres? La foi peut-elle le sauver?
15 Si un frère ou une soeur sont nus et manquent de la nourriture de chaque jour,
16 et que l’un d’entre vous leur dise: Allez en paix, chauffez-vous et vous rassasiez! et que vous ne leur donniez pas ce qui est nécessaire au corps, à quoi cela sert-il?
17 Il en est ainsi de la foi: si elle n’a pas les oeuvres, elle est morte en elle-même.
18 Mais quelqu’un dira: Toi, tu as la foi; et moi, j’ai les oeuvres. Montre-moi ta foi sans les oeuvres, et moi, je te montrerai la foi par mes oeuvres.
19 Tu crois qu’il y a un seul Dieu, tu fais bien; les démons le croient aussi, et ils tremblent.
20 Veux-tu savoir, ô homme vain, que la foi sans les oeuvres est inutile?
21 Abraham, notre père, ne fut-il pas justifié par les oeuvres, lorsqu’il offrit son fils Isaac sur l’autel?
22 Tu vois que la foi agissait avec ses oeuvres, et que par les oeuvres la foi fut rendue parfaite.
23 Ainsi s’accomplit ce que dit l’Écriture: Abraham crut à Dieu, et cela lui fut imputé à justice; et il fut appelé ami de Dieu.
24 Vous voyez que l’homme est justifié par les oeuvres, et non par la foi seulement.
25 Rahab la prostituée ne fut-elle pas également justifiée par les oeuvres, lorsqu’elle reçut les messagers et qu’elle les fit partir par un autre chemin?
26 Comme le corps sans âme est mort, de même la foi sans les oeuvres est morte.

1 My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with respect of persons.
2 For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;
3 And ye have respect to him that weareth the gay clothing, and say unto him, Sit thou here in a good place; and say to the poor, Stand thou there, or sit here under my footstool:
4 Are ye not then partial in yourselves, and are become judges of evil thoughts?
5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
6 But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats?
7 Do not they blaspheme that worthy name by the which ye are called?
8 If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:
9 But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.
10 For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.
11 For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.
12 So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty.
13 For he shall have judgment without mercy, that hath shewed no mercy; and mercy rejoiceth against judgment.
14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
25 Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way?
26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
