2 -Ou pral pini moun Madyan yo pou sa yo fè moun pèp Izrayèl yo pase. Apre sa, ou pral mouri pou ou al jwenn moun pa ou yo ki mouri deja.
3 Se konsa, Moyiz pale ak pèp la, li di yo konsa: -Pare kèk gason nan mitan nou pou y’ al goumen, pou yo mache pran moun Madyan yo, fè yo peye sa yo fè Seyè a.
4 N’a pran mil gason nan chak branch fanmi pèp Izrayèl la pou n’ voye al goumen.
5 Se konsa nan tout kantite gason ki nan pèp Izrayèl la, yo pran mil gason nan chak branch fanmi. Sa te bay douzmil (12.000) gason antou ki te pare pou al goumen.
6 Moyiz voye douzmil gason sa yo al fè lagè. Li voye ak yo Fineas, pitit gason Eleaza, prèt la, ki t’ap pote veso Bondye yo ak twonpèt pou bay siyal yo.
7 Yo atake moun Madyan yo jan Seyè a te bay Moyiz lòd la, yo touye tout gason yo.
8 Yo touye senk wa moun Madyan yo: Evi, Rekèm, Zou, Our ak Reba. Yo touye Balaram, pitit Beyò a, tou.
9 Moun Izrayèl yo fè tout fanm ak tout timoun Madyan yo prizonye. Yo pase men yo pran tout bèf yo, tout mouton yo, tout kabrit yo ak tout lòt byen yo.
10 Yo boule tout kay nan lavil yo ak tout kan kote moun yo te rete.
11 Apre sa, yo pran tou sa yo te ranmase, tout bèt ak tout moun yo te fè prizonye yo,
12 yo mennen yo bay Moyiz ansanm ak Eleaza, prèt la, ak tout moun pèp Izrayèl yo ki te nan kan an, nan plenn Moab yo, lòt bò larivyè Jouden, anfas lavil Jeriko.
13 Moyiz, Eleaza, prèt la ak tout chèf pèp Izrayèl yo soti nan kan an al kontre lame a.
14 Moyiz move sou chèf reskonsab lame yo, sou chèf divizyon mil yo ak chèf konpayi san yo ki t’ap tounen soti nan lagè a.
15 Li di yo konsa: -Poukisa nou pa touye tout medam sa yo?
16 Se yo menm ki te swiv konsèy Balaram yo, se yo ki te lakòz moun pèp Izrayèl yo te vire do bay Bondye nan zafè Baal-Peyò a, kifè gwo malè nou konnen an te tonbe sou pèp Izrayèl la.
17 Se pou nou touye tout pitit gason yo. Se pou nou touye tout fanm ki kouche ak gason deja.
18 Men, n’a sove lavi tout jenn fi ki poko janm kouche ak gason. N’a pran yo pou nou.
19 Men, nou menm ki touye moun osinon ki manyen kadav moun mouri, nou pral rete sèt jou andeyò limit kan an. Sou twazyèm jou a ak sou setyèm jou a n’a fè sèvis pou mete nou nan kondisyon, nou menm ak tout prizonye nou yo, pou nou ka fè sèvis Bondye.
20 N’a fè sèvis pou mete tout rad ak tout bagay ki fèt ak po bèt, bagay ki fèt ak pwal kabrit, bagay ki fèt an bwa, nan kondisyon pou moun k’ap sèvi Bondye ka sèvi ak yo.
21 Eleaza, prèt la, pale ak mesye ki te tounen soti nan lagè yo. Li di yo konsa: -Men yon regleman nou jwenn nan lòd Seyè a te bay Moyiz.
22 Tout moso lò, tout moso ajan, tout bout fè, tout moso kwiv, tout moso plon,
23 tou sa ki pa ka boule nan dife, n’a pase yo nan dife pou yo ka nan kondisyon sèvi pou moun k’ap sèvi Bondye. Men tou sa ki ka boule nan dife, se nan dlo yo mete apa pou sa a n’a pase yo pou yo ka nan kondisyon sèvi pou moun k’ap sèvi Bondye.
24 Sou setyèm jou a, n’a lave rad ki sou nou yo. Konsa n’a nan kondisyon pou nou fè sèvis Bondye. Se lè sa a n’a ka antre nan kan an.
25 Seyè a pale ak Moyiz, li di l’ konsa:
26 -Ou menm, Moyiz ak Eleaza, prèt la, ansanm ak tout lòt chèf pèp Izrayèl yo, n’a konte tou sa lame a te ranmase nan lagè a, san bliye bèt yo ak prizonye yo.
27 Apre sa, n’a separe tout bagay mwatye pou mwatye, mwatye pou moun ki te al goumen yo, mwatye pou rès moun pèp Izrayèl yo.
28 Nan mwatye ki pou moun ki te al goumen yo, n’a wete yon pòsyon ki va tankou yon taks y’a peye pou Seyè a: sou chak senksan (500) moun, sou chak senksan bèt menm kalite, bèf, bourik, mouton, kabrit, w’a wete yonn pou Seyè a.
29 Sa w’a wete nan mwatye ki pou moun ki te al goumen yo, w’a bay Eleaza, prèt la, tankou yon bagay yo pran pou Seyè a.
30 Sou lòt mwatye ki rete pou rès moun pèp Izrayèl la, w’a pran yonn sou chak senkant moun, sou chak senkant bèt menm kalite, bèf, bourik, mouton, kabrit. Epi w’a bay moun Levi yo ki reskonsab Tant Randevou Seyè a.
31 Moyiz ak Eleaza, prèt la, te fè tout bagay jan Seyè a te bay Moyiz lòd fè a.
32 San konte sa sòlda yo te pran pou yo menm, men sa yo te pran nan men lènmi yo epi yo te pote bay Moyiz: sisanswasannkenzmil (675.000) mouton ak kabrit,33 swasanndouzmil (72.000) bèf,34 swasanteyenmil (61.000) bourik,35 tranndemil (32.000) jenn fi ki poko janm kouche ak gason.
36 Yo pran mwatye ladan yo bay sòlda ki te al goumen yo. Epi yo wete sa ki pou Seyè a ladan l’. Sa te fè twasantrannsètmil senksan (337.500) mouton ak kabrit,37 ak sisanswasannkenz (675) ladan yo pou Seyè a,38 trannsimil (36.000) bèf ak swasanndouz ladan yo pou Seyè a,39 trantmil senksan (30.500) bourik ak swasanteyen ladan yo pou Seyè a,
40 sèzmil (16.000) jenn fi ak trannde ladan yo pou Seyè a.
41 Se konsa, Moyiz renmèt bay Eleaza, prèt la, tou sa yo te wete pou Seyè a, jan Seyè a te bay Moyiz lòd la.
42 Lòt mwatye a te pou rès pèp Izrayèl la. Lè Moyiz fin wete sa ki te pou sòlda yo,
43 men sa ki te rete: twasantrannsètmil senksan (337.500) mouton ak kabrit,
44 trannsimil (36.000) bèf,
45 trantmil senksan (30.500) bourik ak
46 sèzmil (16.000) jenn fi.
47 Sou mwatye ki te pou rès moun pèp Izrayèl la, Moyiz pran yon moun sou chak senkant moun ak yon bèt sou chak senkant bèt menm kalite, li bay moun Levi yo ki te reskonsab tant Seyè a, jan Seyè a te bay Moyiz lòd la.
48 Lè sa a, tout moun ki te chèf lame a, chèf divizyon mil yo ak chèf konpayi san yo, yo tout vin jwenn Moyiz.
49 Epi yo di l’: -Nou konte kantite sòlda ki te sou kont nou yo, nou jwenn yo tout la.
50 Se poutèt sa, n’ap pote tout bijou lò nou te jwenn epi nou te pran: braslè, chennèt, bag, zanno, chenn ak meday, n’ap ofri yo bay Seyè a pou li ka fè nou gras.
51 Moyiz ak Eleaza, prèt la, resevwa tout bijou lò yo te pote yo.
52 Sa te fè katsan (400) liv konsa chèf divizyon mil yo ak chèf konpayi san yo te pote bay Moyiz ak Eleaza ki te resevwa yo pou Seyè a.
53 Men, sòlda yo menm te kenbe sa yo te pran pou tèt pa yo.
54 Se konsa Moyiz ak Eleaza, prèt la, pran lò chèf divizyon mil ak chèf konpayi san yo te pote ba yo a, yo pote l’ nan Tant Randevou a, pou Seyè a te ka toujou chonje pwoteje pèp Izrayèl la.

1 L’Éternel parla à Moïse, et dit:
2 Venge les enfants d’Israël sur les Madianites; tu seras ensuite recueilli auprès de ton peuple.
3 Moïse parla au peuple, et dit: Équipez d’entre vous des hommes pour l’armée, et qu’ils marchent contre Madian, afin d’exécuter la vengeance de l’Éternel sur Madian.
4 Vous enverrez à l’armée mille hommes par tribu, de toutes les tribus d’Israël.
5 On leva d’entre les milliers d’Israël mille hommes par tribu, soit douze mille hommes équipés pour l’armée.
6 Moïse envoya à l’armée ces mille hommes par tribu, et avec eux le fils du sacrificateur Éléazar, Phinées, qui portait les instruments sacrés et les trompettes retentissantes.
7 Ils s’avancèrent contre Madian, selon l’ordre que l’Éternel avait donné à Moïse; et ils tuèrent tous les mâles.
8 Ils tuèrent les rois de Madian avec tous les autres, Évi, Rékem, Tsur, Hur et Réba, cinq rois de Madian; ils tuèrent aussi par l’épée Balaam, fils de Beor.
9 Les enfants d’Israël firent prisonnières les femmes des Madianites avec leurs petits enfants, et ils pillèrent tout leur bétail, tous leurs troupeaux et toutes leurs richesses.
10 Ils incendièrent toutes les villes qu’ils habitaient et tous leurs enclos.
11 Ils prirent toutes les dépouilles et tout le butin, personnes et bestiaux;
12 et ils amenèrent les captifs, le butin et les dépouilles, à Moïse, au sacrificateur Éléazar, et à l’assemblée des enfants d’Israël, campés dans les plaines de Moab, près du Jourdain, vis-à-vis de Jéricho.
13 Moïse, le sacrificateur Éléazar, et tous les princes de l’assemblée, sortirent au-devant d’eux, hors du camp.
14 Et Moïse s’irrita contre les commandants de l’armée, les chefs de milliers et les chefs de centaines, qui revenaient de l’expédition.
15 Il leur dit: Avez-vous laissé la vie à toutes les femmes?
16 Voici, ce sont elles qui, sur la parole de Balaam, ont entraîné les enfants d’Israël à l’infidélité envers l’Éternel, dans l’affaire de Peor; et alors éclata la plaie dans l’assemblée de l’Éternel.
17 Maintenant, tuez tout mâle parmi les petits enfants, et tuez toute femme qui a connu un homme en couchant avec lui;
18 mais laissez en vie pour vous toutes les filles qui n’ont point connu la couche d’un homme.
19 Et vous, campez pendant sept jours hors du camp; tous ceux d’entre vous qui ont tué quelqu’un, et tous ceux qui ont touché un mort, se purifieront le troisième et le septième jour, eux et vos prisonniers.
20 Vous purifierez aussi tout vêtement, tout objet de peau, tout ouvrage de poil de chèvre et tout ustensile de bois.
21 Le sacrificateur Éléazar dit aux soldats qui étaient allés à la guerre: Voici ce qui est ordonné par la loi que l’Éternel a prescrite à Moïse.
22 L’or, l’argent, l’airain, le fer, l’étain et le plomb,
23 tout objet qui peut aller au feu, vous le ferez passer par le feu pour le rendre pur. Mais c’est par l’eau de purification que sera purifié tout ce qui ne peut aller au feu; vous le ferez passer dans l’eau.
24 Vous laverez vos vêtements le septième jour, et vous serez purs; ensuite, vous pourrez entrer dans le camp.
25 L’Éternel dit à Moïse:
26 Fais, avec le sacrificateur Éléazar et les chefs de maison de l’assemblée, le compte du butin, de ce qui a été pris, personnes et bestiaux.
27 Partage le butin entre les combattants qui sont allés à l’armée et toute l’assemblée.
28 Tu prélèveras sur la portion des soldats qui sont allés à l’armée un tribut pour l’Éternel, savoir: un sur cinq cents, tant des personnes que des boeufs, des ânes et des brebis.
29 Vous le prendrez sur leur moitié, et tu le donneras au sacrificateur Éléazar comme une offrande à l’Éternel.
30 Et sur la moitié qui revient aux enfants d’Israël tu prendras un sur cinquante, tant des personnes que des boeufs, des ânes et des brebis, de tout animal; et tu le donneras aux Lévites, qui ont la garde du tabernacle de l’Éternel.
31 Moïse et le sacrificateur Éléazar firent ce que l’Éternel avait ordonné à Moïse.
32 Le butin, reste du pillage de ceux qui avaient fait partie de l’armée, était de six cent soixante-quinze mille brebis,
33 soixante-douze mille boeufs,
34 soixante et un mille ânes,
35 et trente-deux mille personnes ou femmes qui n’avaient point connu la couche d’un homme. –
36 La moitié, formant la part de ceux qui étaient allés à l’armée, fut de trois cent trente-sept mille cinq cents brebis,
37 dont six cent soixante-quinze pour le tribut à l’Éternel;
38 trente-six mille boeufs, dont soixante-douze pour le tribut à l’Éternel;
39 trente mille cinq cents ânes, dont soixante et un pour le tribut à l’Éternel;
40 et seize mille personnes, dont trente-deux pour le tribut à l’Éternel.
41 Moïse donna au sacrificateur Éléazar le tribut réservé comme offrande à l’Éternel, selon ce que l’Éternel lui avait ordonné. –
42 La moitié qui revenait aux enfants d’Israël, séparée par Moïse de celle des hommes de l’armée,
43 et formant la part de l’assemblée, fut de trois cent trente-sept mille cinq cents brebis,
44 trente-six mille boeufs,
45 trente mille cinq cents ânes,
46 et seize mille personnes.
47 Sur cette moitié qui revenait aux enfants d’Israël, Moïse prit un sur cinquante, tant des personnes que des animaux; et il le donna aux Lévites, qui ont la garde du tabernacle de l’Éternel, selon ce que l’Éternel lui avait ordonné.
48 Les commandants des milliers de l’armée, les chefs de milliers et les chefs de centaines, s’approchèrent de Moïse,
49 et lui dirent: Tes serviteurs ont fait le compte des soldats qui étaient sous nos ordres, et il ne manque pas un homme d’entre nous.
50 Nous apportons, comme offrande à l’Éternel, chacun les objets d’or que nous avons trouvés, chaînettes, bracelets, anneaux, pendants d’oreilles, et colliers, afin de faire pour nos personnes l’expiation devant l’Éternel.
51 Moïse et le sacrificateur Éléazar reçurent d’eux tous ces objets travaillés en or.
52 Tout l’or, que les chefs de milliers et les chefs de centaines présentèrent à l’Éternel en offrande par élévation, pesait seize mille sept cent cinquante sicles.
53 Les hommes de l’armée gardèrent chacun le butin qu’ils avaient fait.
54 Moïse et le sacrificateur Éléazar prirent l’or des chefs de milliers et des chefs de centaines, et l’apportèrent à la tente d’assignation, comme souvenir pour les enfants d’Israël devant l’Éternel.

1 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
2 Avenge the children of Israel of the Midianites: afterward shalt thou be gathered unto thy people.
3 And Moses spake unto the people, saying, Arm some of yourselves unto the war, and let them go against the Midianites, and avenge the Lord of Midian.
4 Of every tribe a thousand, throughout all the tribes of Israel, shall ye send to the war.
5 So there were delivered out of the thousands of Israel, a thousand of every tribe, twelve thousand armed for war.
6 And Moses sent them to the war, a thousand of every tribe, them and Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, to the war, with the holy instruments, and the trumpets to blow in his hand.
7 And they warred against the Midianites, as the Lord commanded Moses; and they slew all the males.
8 And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; namely, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword.
9 And the children of Israel took all the women of Midian captives, and their little ones, and took the spoil of all their cattle, and all their flocks, and all their goods.
10 And they burnt all their cities wherein they dwelt, and all their goodly castles, with fire.
11 And they took all the spoil, and all the prey, both of men and of beasts.
12 And they brought the captives, and the prey, and the spoil, unto Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and unto the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the camp at the plains of Moab, which are by Jordan near Jericho.
13 And Moses, and Eleazar the priest, and all the princes of the congregation, went forth to meet them without the camp.
14 And Moses was wroth with the officers of the host, with the captains over thousands, and captains over hundreds, which came from the battle.
15 And Moses said unto them, Have ye saved all the women alive?
16 Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the Lord in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the Lord.
17 Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every woman that hath known man by lying with him.
18 But all the women children, that have not known a man by lying with him, keep alive for yourselves.
19 And do ye abide without the camp seven days: whosoever hath killed any person, and whosoever hath touched any slain, purify both yourselves and your captives on the third day, and on the seventh day.
20 And purify all your raiment, and all that is made of skins, and all work of goats’ hair, and all things made of wood.
21 And Eleazar the priest said unto the men of war which went to the battle, This is the ordinance of the law which the Lord commanded Moses;
22 Only the gold, and the silver, the brass, the iron, the tin, and the lead,
23 Every thing that may abide the fire, ye shall make it go through the fire, and it shall be clean: nevertheless it shall be purified with the water of separation: and all that abideth not the fire ye shall make go through the water.
24 And ye shall wash your clothes on the seventh day, and ye shall be clean, and afterward ye shall come into the camp.
25 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
26 Take the sum of the prey that was taken, both of man and of beast, thou, and Eleazar the priest, and the chief fathers of the congregation:
27 And divide the prey into two parts; between them that took the war upon them, who went out to battle, and between all the congregation:
28 And levy a tribute unto the Lord of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the beeves, and of the asses, and of the sheep:
29 Take it of their half, and give it unto Eleazar the priest, for an heave offering of the Lord.
30 And of the children of Israel’s half, thou shalt take one portion of fifty, of the persons, of the beeves, of the asses, and of the flocks, of all manner of beasts, and give them unto the Levites, which keep the charge of the tabernacle of the Lord.
31 And Moses and Eleazar the priest did as the Lord commanded Moses.
32 And the booty, being the rest of the prey which the men of war had caught, was six hundred thousand and seventy thousand and five thousand sheep,
33 And threescore and twelve thousand beeves,
34 And threescore and one thousand asses,
35 And thirty and two thousand persons in all, of women that had not known man by lying with him.
36 And the half, which was the portion of them that went out to war, was in number three hundred thousand and seven and thirty thousand and five hundred sheep:
37 And the Lord‘S tribute of the sheep was six hundred and threescore and fifteen.
38 And the beeves were thirty and six thousand; of which the Lord‘S tribute was threescore and twelve.
39 And the asses were thirty thousand and five hundred; of which the Lord‘S tribute was threescore and one.
40 And the persons were sixteen thousand; of which the Lord‘S tribute was thirty and two persons.
41 And Moses gave the tribute, which was the Lord‘S heave offering, unto Eleazar the priest, as the Lord commanded Moses.
42 And of the children of Israel’s half, which Moses divided from the men that warred,
43 (Now the half that pertained unto the congregation was three hundred thousand and thirty thousand and seven thousand and five hundred sheep,
44 And thirty and six thousand beeves,
45 And thirty thousand asses and five hundred,
46 And sixteen thousand persons;)
47 Even of the children of Israel’s half, Moses took one portion of fifty, both of man and of beast, and gave them unto the Levites, which kept the charge of the tabernacle of the Lord; as the Lord commanded Moses.
48 And the officers which were over thousands of the host, the captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds, came near unto Moses:
49 And they said unto Moses, Thy servants have taken the sum of the men of war which are under our charge, and there lacketh not one man of us.
50 We have therefore brought an oblation for the Lord, what every man hath gotten, of jewels of gold, chains, and bracelets, rings, earrings, and tablets, to make an atonement for our souls before the Lord.
51 And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of them, even all wrought jewels.
52 And all the gold of the offering that they offered up to the Lord, of the captains of thousands, and of the captains of hundreds, was sixteen thousand seven hundred and fifty shekels.
53 (For the men of war had taken spoil, every man for himself.)
54 And Moses and Eleazar the priest took the gold of the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and brought it into the tabernacle of the congregation, for a memorial for the children of Israel before the Lord.
