Pwovèb 18
1 Moun k’ap viv apa se tèt li ase li konnen. Li move sou tout moun ki vle ba li bon konsèy.
2 Moun sòt pa pran plezi l’ nan chache konprann. Tou sa l’ap chache se fè moun konprann li gen lespri.
3 Y’ap meprize moun k’ap fè mechanste. Moun ki pa fè respè tèt yo gen pou yo wont.
4 Pawòl moun ki gen konprann fon kou lanmè, fre tankou yon sous k’ap koule tout tan.
5 Sa pa bon pou ou pran pou moun mechan, ni pou ou enpoze yo rann moun inonsan jistis.
6 Depi moun sòt ap pale, se kont l’ap chache. Si ou koute pawòl nan bouch li, w’a ba l’ kou.
7 Bouch moun sòt se kondannasyon li. Pawòl ki soti nan bouch li tounen pèlen pou li.
8 Tripotay dous nan zòrèy moun ki vle tande yo. Sa mache nan san yo.
9 Moun ki parese nan travay li se menmman parèyman ak moun k’ap defèt sa k’ap fèt.
10 Seyè a, se yon gwo ranpa byen solid. Se la moun k’ap mache dwat yo kouri al chache pwoteksyon.
11 Pou moun rich yo, byen yo tankou yon ranpa byen solid. Yo mete nan tèt yo se sa k’ap pwoteje yo.
12 Lè w’ap fè awogans, yo pa lwen kraze ou. Lè ou fè kò ou piti, y’a fè lwanj ou.
13 Moun ki prese reponn san koute sa y’ap di l’, se moun sòt li ye. Li gen pou l’ wont.
14 Lè yon moun anvi viv, sa ede l’ anpil lè li malad. Men, si li dekouraje, ki moun ki ka remoute kouraj li?
15 Yon moun lespri ap toujou chache gen plis konesans. Zòrèy moun ki gen bon konprann toujou pare pou l’ ka konnen plis toujou.
16 Kado ou fè louvri chemen pou ou toupatou, ata chemen ki mennen lakay grannèg.
17 Moun ki pale anvan nan tribinal toujou sanble li gen rezon. Lè lòt moun lan parèt, kat je kontre, manti kaba.
18 Lè de grannèg gen kont, jij yo fè tiraj osò pou konnen kilès pou yo bay rezon.
19 Li pi fasil pou mete lapè nan yon gwo lavil pase pou ou rekonsilye de frè ki nan kont. Lè yo fache, kè yonn se pòt prizon pou lòt.
20 Rekonpans yon moun chita sou sa ki soti nan bouch li.
21 Sa ou di ka lavi pou ou, li ka lanmò pou ou. Sa ou chwazi, se sa w’ap jwenn.
22 Lè yon nonm jwenn yon bon madanm, se yon bon bagay. Se yon gwo favè Seyè a fè l’.
23 Lè yon pòv ap pale, li toujou nan tanpri souple. Men, moun rich toujou ap rele sou moun.
24 Gen zanmi se pran yo vin pran. Men, gen zanmi tou yo plis pase frè.

Proverbes 18
1 Celui qui se tient à l’écart cherche ce qui lui plaît, Il s’irrite contre tout ce qui est sage.
2 Ce n’est pas à l’intelligence que l’insensé prend plaisir, C’est à la manifestation de ses pensées.
3 Quand vient le méchant, vient aussi le mépris; Et avec la honte, vient l’opprobre.
4 Les paroles de la bouche d’un homme sont des eaux profondes; La source de la sagesse est un torrent qui jaillit.
5 Il n’est pas bon d’avoir égard à la personne du méchant, Pour faire tort au juste dans le jugement.
6 Les lèvres de l’insensé se mêlent aux querelles, Et sa bouche provoque les coups.
7 La bouche de l’insensé cause sa ruine, Et ses lèvres sont un piège pour son âme.
8 Les paroles du rapporteur sont comme des friandises, Elles descendent jusqu’au fond des entrailles.
9 Celui qui se relâche dans son travail Est frère de celui qui détruit.
10 Le nom de l’Éternel est une tour forte; Le juste s’y réfugie, et se trouve en sûreté.
11 La fortune est pour le riche une ville forte; Dans son imagination, c’est une haute muraille.
12 Avant la ruine, le coeur de l’homme s’élève; Mais l’humilité précède la gloire.
13 Celui qui répond avant d’avoir écouté Fait un acte de folie et s’attire la confusion.
14 L’esprit de l’homme le soutient dans la maladie; Mais l’esprit abattu, qui le relèvera?
15 Un coeur intelligent acquiert la science, Et l’oreille des sages cherche la science.
16 Les présents d’un homme lui élargissent la voie, Et lui donnent accès auprès des grands.
17 Le premier qui parle dans sa cause paraît juste; Vient sa partie adverse, et on l’examine.
18 Le sort fait cesser les contestations, Et décide entre les puissants.
19 Des frères sont plus intraitables qu’une ville forte, Et leurs querelles sont comme les verrous d’un palais.
20 C’est du fruit de sa bouche que l’homme rassasie son corps, C’est du produit de ses lèvres qu’il se rassasie.
21 La mort et la vie sont au pouvoir de la langue; Quiconque l’aime en mangera les fruits.
22 Celui qui trouve une femme trouve le bonheur; C’est une grâce qu’il obtient de l’Éternel.
23 Le pauvre parle en suppliant, Et le riche répond avec dureté.
24 Celui qui a beaucoup d’amis les a pour son malheur, Mais il est tel ami plus attaché qu’un frère.

Proverbs 18
1 Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.
2 A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.
3 When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.
4 The words of a man’s mouth are as deep waters, and the wellspring of wisdom as a flowing brook.
5 It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.
6 A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.
7 A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.
8 The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
9 He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.
10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.
11 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and as an high wall in his own conceit.
12 Before destruction the heart of man is haughty, and before honour is humility.
13 He that answereth a matter before he heareth it, it is folly and shame unto him.
14 The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear?
15 The heart of the prudent getteth knowledge; and the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.
16 A man’s gift maketh room for him, and bringeth him before great men.
17 He that is first in his own cause seemeth just; but his neighbour cometh and searcheth him.
18 The lot causeth contentions to cease, and parteth between the mighty.
19 A brother offended is harder to be won than a strong city: and their contentions are like the bars of a castle.
20 A man’s belly shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; and with the increase of his lips shall he be filled.
21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.
22 Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the Lord.
23 The poor useth intreaties; but the rich answereth roughly.
24 A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.
