3 Izrayèl menm te renmen Jozèf plis pase tout lòt pitit li yo, paske li te fin granmoun lè Jozèf te fèt. Li fè yon bèl varèz long ak manch pou li.
4 Lè frè l’ yo wè jan papa yo te renmen Jozèf plis pase yo, yo pran rayi l’. Yo pa t’ louvri bouch avè l’ san yo pa joure l’.
5 Yon jou, Jozèf fè yon rèv. Li rakonte l’ bay frè li yo. Sa te fè yo rayi l’ pi plis toujou.
6 Li di yo: -Mesye, tande yon rèv mwen fè.
7 Mwen wè nou tout nou te nan jaden, chak moun t’ap mare yon pakèt zèb. Pakèt mwen an rete konsa li kanpe tout dwat pou kont li, epi tout pakèt pa nou yo fè wonn li, yo vin bese tèt devan pa m’ lan tankou moun y’ap salwe.
8 Frè l’ yo di l’: -Anhan! Ou vle di ou pral chèf nou, ou pral kòmande nou! Yo te vin rayi l’ pi plis toujou poutèt rèv li te di yo li fè a.
9 Apre sa, Jozèf fè yon lòt rèv ankò. Li rakonte l’ bay frè li yo. Li di yo: -Mwen fè yon lòt rèv. Mwen wè solèy la, lalen lan ansanm ak onz zetwal ki t’ap bese tèt devan mwen.
10 Li rakonte rèv la bay papa l’ ansanm ak frè l’ yo. Men papa a t’ap rale zòrèy li, li t’ap di l’: -Ki kalite rèv w’ap fè konsa a? Koulye a, se pou mwen menm, manman ou ansanm ak onz frè ou yo, pou nou vin bese tèt devan ou?
11 Frè Jozèf yo t’ap fè jalouzi, men papa l’ t’ap kalkile tout bagay sa yo nan tèt li.
12 Frè Jozèf yo leve, y ale jouk Sichèm ak bann bèt papa yo pou fè yo manje.
13 Izrayèl rele Jozèf, li di l’ konsa: -Frè ou yo mennen bèt yo jouk Sichèm al manje. Vini non, m’ap voye ou bò kote yo pou mwen. Jozèf reponn: -Men mwen wi, papa.
14 Izrayèl di l’ konsa: -Tanpri, ale we kouman frè ou yo ak bèt yo ye laba a. Apre sa, tounen vin pote nouvèl yo ban mwen. Konsa, se papa l’ menm ki te fè l’ pati kite Fon Ebwon an. Lè Jozèf rive Sichèm,
15 li pèdi wout li nan savann lan, li kontre ak yon nonm ki mande l’: -Kisa w’ap chache konsa?
16 Jozèf reponn li: -M’ap chache frè m’ yo. Tanpri, di m’ ki kote yo mennen bèt yo al manje.
17 Nonm lan di l’: -Yo te isit la wi, men yo pati deja. Mwen tande yo t’ap di yo pral Dotan. Jozèf pati dèyè frè l’ yo, li jwenn yo Dotan.
18 Men, anvan Jozèf te rive, yo te gen tan wè l’ byen lwen ap vini. Yo fè konplo pou yo touye l’.
19 Yonn di lòt: -Men nonm ki renmen fè rèv la ap vini.
20 Annou wè. N’ap touye l’, n’ap jete kadav la nan yonn nan pi yo. Epi n’a di se bèt nan bwa ki touye l’. Konsa n’a wè si sa l’ te wè nan rèv li yo va rive vre.
21 Woubenn t’ap koute yo, li t’ap chache yon jan pou sove Jozèf anba men yo. Li di yo: -Piga nou touye l’.

29 Lè Woubenn tounen nan pi a, li pa jwenn Jozèf ladan l’. Sa te fè l’ lapenn anpil. Li chire rad ki te sou li a.
30 Li tounen al jwenn frè li yo, li di yo: -Ti gason an pa nan pi a non! Kisa m’ pral fè koulye a?
31 Yo touye yon bouk kabrit, yo pran bèl varèz Jozèf la, yo tranpe l’ nan san an.
32 Yo voye varèz la bay papa yo ak komisyon sa a: -Men sa nou jwenn. Gade wè si se pa varèz pitit gason ou lan.
33 Jakòb rekonèt rad la, li di: -Men wi, se varèz pitit gason m’ lan. Se yon bèt nan bwa ki devore l’. Bèt la dechèpiye l’ nèt.
34 Sa ou tande a, yon sèl lapenn pran Jakòb, li chire rad ki te sou li, li mare yon tanga sak nan ren li. Li pase kèk tan ap kriye pou pitit gason l’ lan.
35 tout lòt gason l’ yo ansanm ak pitit fi l’ yo te vin ba l’ kouraj, men li te refize tande sa yo t’ap di l’. Li t’ap plede repete: -M’ap kriye pou pitit gason m’ lan jouk m al jwenn li lè m’a mouri. Se konsa li t’ap kriye pou pitit gason l’ lan.
36 Pandan tout tan sa a, moun Madyan yo te gen tan vann Jozèf nan peyi Lejip ak Potifa, yonn nan chèf lame farawon an. Se li menm ki te kòmandan gad palè yo.

Genèse 37
1 Jacob demeura dans le pays de Canaan, où avait séjourné son père.
2 Voici la postérité de Jacob. Joseph, âgé de dix-sept ans, faisait paître le troupeau avec ses frères; cet enfant était auprès des fils de Bilha et des fils de Zilpa, femmes de son père. Et Joseph rapportait à leur père leurs mauvais propos.
3 Israël aimait Joseph plus que tous ses autres fils, parce qu’il l’avait eu dans sa vieillesse; et il lui fit une tunique de plusieurs couleurs.
4 Ses frères virent que leur père l’aimait plus qu’eux tous, et ils le prirent en haine. Ils ne pouvaient lui parler avec amitié.
5 Joseph eut un songe, et il le raconta à ses frères, qui le haïrent encore davantage.
6 Il leur dit: Écoutez donc ce songe que j’ai eu!
7 Nous étions à lier des gerbes au milieu des champs; et voici, ma gerbe se leva et se tint debout, et vos gerbes l’entourèrent et se prosternèrent devant elle.
8 Ses frères lui dirent: Est-ce que tu régneras sur nous? est-ce que tu nous gouverneras? Et ils le haïrent encore davantage, à cause de ses songes et à cause de ses paroles.
9 Il eut encore un autre songe, et il le raconta à ses frères. Il dit: J’ai eu encore un songe! Et voici, le soleil, la lune et onze étoiles se prosternaient devant moi.
10 Il le raconta à son père et à ses frères. Son père le réprimanda, et lui dit: Que signifie ce songe que tu as eu? Faut-il que nous venions, moi, ta mère et tes frères, nous prosterner en terre devant toi?
11 Ses frères eurent de l’envie contre lui, mais son père garda le souvenir de ces choses.
12 Les frères de Joseph étant allés à Sichem, pour faire paître le troupeau de leur père,
13 Israël dit à Joseph: Tes frères ne font-ils pas paître le troupeau à Sichem? Viens, je veux t’envoyer vers eux. Et il répondit: Me voici!
14 Israël lui dit: Va, je te prie, et vois si tes frères sont en bonne santé et si le troupeau est en bon état; et tu m’en rapporteras des nouvelles. Il l’envoya ainsi de la vallée d’Hébron; et Joseph alla à Sichem.
15 Un homme le rencontra, comme il errait dans les champs. Il le questionna, en disant: Que cherches-tu?
16 Joseph répondit: Je cherche mes frères; dis-moi, je te prie, où ils font paître leur troupeau.
17 Et l’homme dit: Ils sont partis d’ici; car je les ai entendus dire: Allons à Dothan. Joseph alla après ses frères, et il les trouva à Dothan.
18 Ils le virent de loin; et, avant qu’il fût près d’eux, ils complotèrent de le faire mourir.
19 Ils se dirent l’un à l’autre: Voici le faiseur de songes qui arrive.
20 Venez maintenant, tuons-le, et jetons-le dans une des citernes; nous dirons qu’une bête féroce l’a dévoré, et nous verrons ce que deviendront ses songes.
21 Ruben entendit cela, et il le délivra de leurs mains. Il dit: Ne lui ôtons pas la vie.
22 Ruben leur dit: Ne répandez point de sang; jetez-le dans cette citerne qui est au désert, et ne mettez pas la main sur lui. Il avait dessein de le délivrer de leurs mains pour le faire retourner vers son père.
23 Lorsque Joseph fut arrivé auprès de ses frères, ils le dépouillèrent de sa tunique, de la tunique de plusieurs couleurs, qu’il avait sur lui.
24 Ils le prirent, et le jetèrent dans la citerne. Cette citerne était vide; il n’y avait point d’eau.
25 Ils s’assirent ensuite pour manger. Ayant levé les yeux, ils virent une caravane d’Ismaélites venant de Galaad; leurs chameaux étaient chargés d’aromates, de baume et de myrrhe, qu’ils transportaient en Égypte.
26 Alors Juda dit à ses frères: Que gagnerons-nous à tuer notre frère et à cacher son sang?
27 Venez, vendons-le aux Ismaélites, et ne mettons pas la main sur lui, car il est notre frère, notre chair. Et ses frères l’écoutèrent.
28 Au passage des marchands madianites, ils tirèrent et firent remonter Joseph hors de la citerne; et ils le vendirent pour vingt sicles d’argent aux Ismaélites, qui l’emmenèrent en Égypte.
29 Ruben revint à la citerne; et voici, Joseph n’était plus dans la citerne. Il déchira ses vêtements,
30 retourna vers ses frères, et dit: L’enfant n’y est plus! Et moi, où irai-je?
31 Ils prirent alors la tunique de Joseph; et, ayant tué un bouc, ils plongèrent la tunique dans le sang.
32 Ils envoyèrent à leur père la tunique de plusieurs couleurs, en lui faisant dire: Voici ce que nous avons trouvé! reconnais si c’est la tunique de ton fils, ou non.
33 Jacob la reconnut, et dit: C’est la tunique de mon fils! une bête féroce l’a dévoré! Joseph a été mis en pièces!
34 Et il déchira ses vêtements, il mit un sac sur ses reins, et il porta longtemps le deuil de son fils.
35 Tous ses fils et toutes ses filles vinrent pour le consoler; mais il ne voulut recevoir aucune consolation. Il disait: C’est en pleurant que je descendrai vers mon fils au séjour des morts! Et il pleurait son fils.
36 Les Madianites le vendirent en Égypte à Potiphar, officier de Pharaon, chef des gardes.

Genesis 37
And Jacob dwelt in the land wherein his father was a stranger, in the land of Canaan.
2 These are the generations of Jacob. Joseph, being seventeen years old, was feeding the flock with his brethren; and the lad was with the sons of Bilhah, and with the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives: and Joseph brought unto his father their evil report.
3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than all his children, because he was the son of his old age: and he made him a coat of many colours.
4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably unto him.
5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.
6 And he said unto them, Hear, I pray you, this dream which I have dreamed:
7 For, behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and, lo, my sheaf arose, and also stood upright; and, behold, your sheaves stood round about, and made obeisance to my sheaf.
8 And his brethren said to him, Shalt thou indeed reign over us? or shalt thou indeed have dominion over us? And they hated him yet the more for his dreams, and for his words.
9 And he dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars made obeisance to me.
10 And he told it to his father, and to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him, What is this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the earth?
11 And his brethren envied him; but his father observed the saying.
12 And his brethren went to feed their father’s flock in Shechem.
13 And Israel said unto Joseph, Do not thy brethren feed the flock in Shechem? come, and I will send thee unto them. And he said to him, Here am I.
14 And he said to him, Go, I pray thee, see whether it be well with thy brethren, and well with the flocks; and bring me word again. So he sent him out of the vale of Hebron, and he came to Shechem.
15 And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field: and the man asked him, saying, What seekest thou?
16 And he said, I seek my brethren: tell me, I pray thee, where they feed their flocks.
17 And the man said, They are departed hence; for I heard them say, Let us go to Dothan. And Joseph went after his brethren, and found them in Dothan.
18 And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.
19 And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.
20 Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will become of his dreams.
21 And Reuben heard it, and he delivered him out of their hands; and said, Let us not kill him.
22 And Reuben said unto them, Shed no blood, but cast him into this pit that is in the wilderness, and lay no hand upon him; that he might rid him out of their hands, to deliver him to his father again.
23 And it came to pass, when Joseph was come unto his brethren, that they stript Joseph out of his coat, his coat of many colours that was on him;
24 And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.
25 And they sat down to eat bread: and they lifted up their eyes and looked, and, behold, a company of Ishmeelites came from Gilead with their camels bearing spicery and balm and myrrh, going to carry it down to Egypt.
26 And Judah said unto his brethren, What profit is it if we slay our brother, and conceal his blood?
27 Come, and let us sell him to the Ishmeelites, and let not our hand be upon him; for he is our brother and our flesh. And his brethren were content.
28 Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt.
29 And Reuben returned unto the pit; and, behold, Joseph was not in the pit; and he rent his clothes.
30 And he returned unto his brethren, and said, The child is not; and I, whither shall I go?
31 And they took Joseph’s coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood;
32 And they sent the coat of many colours, and they brought it to their father; and said, This have we found: know now whether it be thy son’s coat or no.
33 And he knew it, and said, It is my son’s coat; an evil beast hath devoured him; Joseph is without doubt rent in pieces.
34 And Jacob rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his loins, and mourned for his son many days.
35 And all his sons and all his daughters rose up to comfort him; but he refused to be comforted; and he said, For I will go down into the grave unto my son mourning. Thus his father wept for him.
36 And the Midianites sold him into Egypt unto Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh’s, and captain of the guard.
