1 Jozafa mouri, yo antere l’ nan tonm wa yo, nan lavil David la. Se pitit li, Joram, ki moute sou fotèy la nan plas li.
2 Joram, pitit Jozafa, wa peyi Jida a, te gen sis frè: Azarya, Jeyèl, Zakari, Azaryawou, Mikayèk ak Chefatyawou.
3 Papa yo te ba yo chak yon kantite lò, ajan, ak tout kalite lòt bagay ki gen valè. Li mete yo chèf nan gwo lavil ki gen miray ranpa nan peyi Jida a. Men li te mete Joram wa nan plas li, paske Joram te premye pitit gason l’.
4 Lè Joram moute wa nan plas papa l’, li chita otorite l’ byen chita nan peyi a. Lèfini, li fè touye tout frè l’ yo ansanm ak kèk gwo chèf pèp Izrayèl la.
5 Joram te gen tranndezan lè li moute wa. Li gouvènen lavil Jerizalèm pandan witan.
6 Li fè tankou wa Akab ak lòt wa peyi Izrayèl yo te fè. Li te marye ak yon pitit fi Akab, li fè sa ki mal nan je Seyè a.
7 Men Seyè a pa t’ vle detwi fanmi David la, paske li te pase kontra ak David. Li te pwomèt David li t’ap toujou gen yon moun nan ras li pou gouvènen peyi a devan Seyè a.
8 Sou rèy wa Joram, moun peyi Edon yo pran lèzam kont moun peyi Jida yo. Yo pran libète granmoun yo, yo nonmen yon wa pou gouvènen yo.
9 Se konsa Joram soti ak tout chèf li yo ak tout cha lagè li yo, li mache sou yo. Lame moun Edon yo sènen l’. Pandan lannwit, Joram ak chèf cha lagè li yo leve, yo atake moun Edon yo, yo pase soti nan mitan yo, yo chape kò yo.
10 Se depi lè sa a, peyi Edon soti anba otorite peyi Jida a. Yo granmoun lakay yo. Se menm lè sa a tou, moun lavil Libna yo soti anba otorite peyi Jida a, paske Joram te vire do bay Seyè a, Bondye zansèt yo a.
11 Li te menm rive fè bati tanp pou sèvi zidòl nan mòn peyi Jida yo. Li lakòz moun lavil Jerizalèm yo vire do bay Bondye. Li fè peyi Jida a pèdi wout li.
12 Se konsa Joram resevwa yon lèt pwofèt Eli te voye ba li. Nan lèt la pwofèt la di: -Men sa Seyè a, Bondye David, zansèt w’a a, voye di ou: Ou pa swiv egzanp Jozafa, papa ou, ni egzanp Asa, granpapa ou.
13 Ou te pito swiv egzanp wa peyi Izrayèl yo. Ou lakòz peyi Jida a ak tout moun lavil Jerizalèm yo vire do bay Bondye tankou moun fanmi Akab yo te fè l’ la. Ou menm rive touye frè ou yo, pwòp pitit papa ou yo, ki te pi bon pase ou.
14 Se poutèt sa, Seyè a pral voye yon gwo malè sou pèp la, sou pitit ou yo, sou madanm ou yo ak sou tou sa ou genyen.
15 Ou menm pou tèt pa ou, ou pral malad anpil. Ou pral gen yon sèl maladi vant ki pral fè ou soufri jouk trip ou va soti.
16 Lè sa a, te gen kèk moun Filisti ak moun Arabi ki t’ap viv toupre ak moun Letiopi yo. Seyè a fè yo vin atake Joram.
17 Yo anvayi peyi Jida, yo piye palè wa a, yo fè tout madanm li yo prizonye ansanm ak tout pitit gason l’ yo. Sèl pitit gason yo te kite pou li se te Joakaz, ti dènye a.
18 Apre sa, Seyè a voye yon sèl maladi vant sou li ki pa t’ ka geri.
19 Pandan dezan maladi a t’ap minen l’, trip li yo soti, li t’ap soufri anpil lè li mouri. Pèp la pa t’ limen boukan pou li jan yo te fè l’ pou zansèt li yo.
20 Joram te gen tranndezan lè li moute wa, li gouvènen lavil Jerizalèm pandan witan. Pesonn pa t’ pran lapenn pou li lè li mouri. Yo antere l’ nan lavil David la, men yo pa mete l’ nan tonm wa yo.

1 Josaphat se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré avec ses pères dans la ville de David. Et Joram, son fils, régna à sa place.
2 Joram avait des frères, fils de Josaphat: Azaria, Jehiel, Zacharie, Azaria, Micaël et Schephathia, tous fils de Josaphat, roi d’Israël.
3 Leur père leur avait donné des présents considérables en argent, en or, et en objets précieux, avec des villes fortes en Juda; mais il laissa le royaume à Joram, parce qu’il était le premier-né.
4 Lorsque Joram eut pris possession du royaume de son père et qu’il se fut fortifié, il fit mourir par l’épée tous ses frères et quelques-uns aussi des chefs d’Israël.
5 Joram avait trente-deux ans lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem.
6 Il marcha dans la voie des rois d’Israël, comme avait fait la maison d’Achab, car il avait pour femme une fille d’Achab, et il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l’Éternel.
7 Mais l’Éternel ne voulut point détruire la maison de David, à cause de l’alliance qu’il avait traitée avec David et de la promesse qu’il avait faite de lui donner toujours une lampe, à lui et à ses fils.
8 De son temps, Édom se révolta contre l’autorité de Juda, et se donna un roi.
9 Joram partit avec ses chefs et tous ses chars; s’étant levé de nuit, il battit les Édomites qui l’entouraient et les chefs des chars.
10 La rébellion d’Édom contre l’autorité de Juda a duré jusqu’à ce jour. Libna se révolta dans le même temps contre son autorité, parce qu’il avait abandonné l’Éternel, le Dieu de ses pères.
11 Joram fit même des hauts lieux dans les montagnes de Juda; il poussa les habitants de Jérusalem à la prostitution, et il séduisit Juda.
12 Il lui vint un écrit du prophète Élie, disant: Ainsi parle l’Éternel, le Dieu de David, ton père: Parce que tu n’as pas marché dans les voies de Josaphat, ton père, et dans les voies d’Asa, roi de Juda,
13 mais que tu as marché dans la voie des rois d’Israël; parce que tu as entraîné à la prostitution Juda et les habitants de Jérusalem, comme l’a fait la maison d’Achab à l’égard d’Israël; et parce que tu as fait mourir tes frères, meilleurs que toi, la maison même de ton père; –
14 voici, l’Éternel frappera ton peuple d’une grande plaie, tes fils, tes femmes, et tout ce qui t’appartient;
15 et toi, il te frappera d’une maladie violente, d’une maladie d’entrailles, qui augmentera de jour en jour jusqu’à ce que tes entrailles sortent par la force du mal.
16 Et l’Éternel excita contre Joram l’esprit des Philistins et des Arabes qui sont dans le voisinage des Éthiopiens.
17 Ils montèrent contre Juda, y firent une invasion, pillèrent toutes les richesses qui se trouvaient dans la maison du roi, et emmenèrent ses fils et ses femmes, de sorte qu’il ne lui resta d’autre fils que Joachaz, le plus jeune de ses fils.
18 Après tout cela, l’Éternel le frappa d’une maladie d’entrailles qui était sans remède;
19 elle augmenta de jour en jour, et sur la fin de la seconde année les entrailles de Joram sortirent par la force de son mal. Il mourut dans de violentes souffrances; et son peuple ne brûla point de parfums en son honneur, comme il l’avait fait pour ses pères.
20 Il avait trente-deux ans lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna huit ans à Jérusalem. Il s’en alla sans être regretté, et on l’enterra dans la ville de David, mais non dans les sépulcres des rois.

1 Now Jehoshaphat slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David. And Jehoram his son reigned in his stead.
2 And he had brethren the sons of Jehoshaphat, Azariah, and Jehiel, and Zechariah, and Azariah, and Michael, and Shephatiah: all these were the sons of Jehoshaphat king of Israel.
3 And their father gave them great gifts of silver, and of gold, and of precious things, with fenced cities in Judah: but the kingdom gave he to Jehoram; because he was the firstborn.
4 Now when Jehoram was risen up to the kingdom of his father, he strengthened himself, and slew all his brethren with the sword, and divers also of the princes of Israel.
5 Jehoram was thirty and two years old when he began to reign, and he reigned eight years in Jerusalem.
6 And he walked in the way of the kings of Israel, like as did the house of Ahab: for he had the daughter of Ahab to wife: and he wrought that which was evil in the eyes of the Lord.
7 Howbeit the Lord would not destroy the house of David, because of the covenant that he had made with David, and as he promised to give a light to him and to his sons for ever.
8 In his days the Edomites revolted from under the dominion of Judah, and made themselves a king.
9 Then Jehoram went forth with his princes, and all his chariots with him: and he rose up by night, and smote the Edomites which compassed him in, and the captains of the chariots.
10 So the Edomites revolted from under the hand of Judah unto this day. The same time also did Libnah revolt from under his hand; because he had forsaken the Lord God of his fathers.
11 Moreover he made high places in the mountains of Judah and caused the inhabitants of Jerusalem to commit fornication, and compelled Judah thereto.
12 And there came a writing to him from Elijah the prophet, saying, Thus saith the Lord God of David thy father, Because thou hast not walked in the ways of Jehoshaphat thy father, nor in the ways of Asa king of Judah,
13 But hast walked in the way of the kings of Israel, and hast made Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem to go a whoring, like to the whoredoms of the house of Ahab, and also hast slain thy brethren of thy father’s house, which were better than thyself:
14 Behold, with a great plague will the Lord smite thy people, and thy children, and thy wives, and all thy goods:
15 And thou shalt have great sickness by disease of thy bowels, until thy bowels fall out by reason of the sickness day by day.
16 Moreover the Lord stirred up against Jehoram the spirit of the Philistines, and of the Arabians, that were near the Ethiopians:
17 And they came up into Judah, and brake into it, and carried away all the substance that was found in the king’s house, and his sons also, and his wives; so that there was never a son left him, save Jehoahaz, the youngest of his sons.
18 And after all this the Lord smote him in his bowels with an incurable disease.
19 And it came to pass, that in process of time, after the end of two years, his bowels fell out by reason of his sickness: so he died of sore diseases. And his people made no burning for him, like the burning of his fathers.
20 Thirty and two years old was he when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem eight years, and departed without being desired. Howbeit they buried him in the city of David, but not in the sepulchres of the kings.
