Eklezyas 12
1 Pandan ou jenn gason an, pa janm bliye Bondye ki te kreye ou la, anvan jou malè yo rive sou ou, anvan lè a rive pou ou di: Mwen pa jwenn ankenn plezi nan lavi.
2 Lè sa a, limyè solèy la, lalin lan ak zetwal yo ap parèt twoub twoub devan je ou. Syèl la pa janm klè. Lapli poko fin tonbe, tan an gen tan mare ankò.
3 Lè sa a, bra ou yo ki te konn pwoteje ou ap tranble. Janm ou yo ki enganm koulye a ap febli. Ou p’ap gen dan pou kraze manje. Je ou yo ap twò fèb pou wè klè.
4 De twou zòrèy ou yo ap bouche, ou p’ap tande sa k’ap pase nan lari. Ata gwo bri moulen ki toupre ou la, w’a tande l’ tou piti piti. Moun te mèt ap chante bò kote ou, w’ap tande vwa yo lwen lwen. Lè sa a, depi pipirit konmanse chante, nou gen tan leve.
5 W’ap pè moute sou bagay ki twò wo pou ou pa gen tèt vire. Menm mache nan granchemen ap yon danje pou ou. Tout cheve nan tèt ou ap vin blan, w’ap pèdi fòs kouray ou. Pa gen anyen ki ka fè l’ tounen ankò. W’ap desann nan dènye kay kote ou pral rete pou tou tan an. Lè sa a, moun ap mache rele nan tout lari.
6 Wi, pa janm bliye Bondye ki fè ou la anvan ti chenn an ajan an detache sot tonbe, anvan bòl an lò a tonbe kraze, anvan kalbas dlo a kraze miyèt moso, anvan so a kase.
7 Lè sa a, kò nou pral tounen pousyè latè jan l’ te ye anvan an. Souf nou menm ap tounen jwenn Bondye ki te ban nou l’ lan.
8 Lavi pa vo anyen. Lavi pa sèvi anyen. Filozòf la di: Anyen pa vo anyen.
9 Men, paske filozòf la te gen bon konprann, li pa janm sispann moutre pèp la tou sa li te konnen. Li egzaminen anpil pwovèb, li etidye yo, li pran san li pou li sanble yo.
10 Li pran san li pou li jwenn pawòl ki pou fè moun plezi. Men nan tou sa li ekri, li bay verite a jan li wè l’ la.
11 Pawòl moun ki gen konprann tankou baton yo sèvi pou djige bèf kabwa. Liv pwovèb yo tankou yon seri klou yo kloure yonn kot lòt. Men se yon sèl mèt ki bay yo, se Bondye.
12 Pitit mwen, men sa pou ou fè: Pran leson sou bagay sa yo. Si pou yo ta ekri anpil liv, yo pa ta janm fini. Lè ou etidye twòp, sa fè kè ou fè ou mal.
13 Apre tout pawòl sa yo, se yon sèl bagay pou m’ di nan sa: Gen krentif pou Bondye. Fè tou sa li mande ou fè yo. Se pou sa ase Bondye te kreye moun.
14 Paske Bondye ap jije tou sa n’ap fè, kit yo bon, kit yo pa bon, ata bagay nou fè an kachèt.

12:3) Mais souviens-toi de ton créateur pendant les jours de ta jeunesse, avant que les jours mauvais arrivent et que les années s’approchent où tu diras: Je n’y prends point de plaisir;
2 (12:4) avant que s’obscurcissent le soleil et la lumière, la lune et les étoiles, et que les nuages reviennent après la pluie,
3 (12:5) temps où les gardiens de la maison tremblent, où les hommes forts se courbent, où celles qui moulent s’arrêtent parce qu’elles sont diminuées, où ceux qui regardent par les fenêtres sont obscurcis,
4 (12:6) où les deux battants de la porte se ferment sur la rue quand s’abaisse le bruit de la meule, où l’on se lève au chant de l’oiseau, où s’affaiblissent toutes les filles du chant,
5 (12:7) où l’on redoute ce qui est élevé, où l’on a des terreurs en chemin, où l’amandier fleurit, où la sauterelle devient pesante, et où la câpre n’a plus d’effet, car l’homme s’en va vers sa demeure éternelle, et les pleureurs parcourent les rues;
6 (12:8) avant que le cordon d’argent se détache, que le vase d’or se brise, que le seau se rompe sur la source, et que la roue se casse sur la citerne;
7 (12:9) avant que la poussière retourne à la terre, comme elle y était, et que l’esprit retourne à Dieu qui l’a donné.
8 (12:10) Vanité des vanités, dit l’Ecclésiaste, tout est vanité.
9 (12:11) Outre que l’Ecclésiaste fut un sage, il a encore enseigné la science au peuple, et il a examiné, sondé, mis en ordre un grand nombre de sentences.
10 (12:12) L’Ecclésiaste s’est efforcé de trouver des paroles agréables; et ce qui a été écrit avec droiture, ce sont des paroles de vérité.
11 (12:13) Les paroles des sages sont comme des aiguillons; et, rassemblées en un recueil, elles sont comme des clous plantés, données par un seul maître.
12 (12:14) Du reste, mon fils, tire instruction de ces choses; on ne finirait pas, si l’on voulait faire un grand nombre de livres, et beaucoup d’étude est une fatigue pour le corps.
13 (12:15) Écoutons la fin du discours: Crains Dieu et observe ses commandements. C’est là ce que doit faire tout homme.
14 (12:16) Car Dieu amènera toute oeuvre en jugement, au sujet de tout ce qui est caché, soit bien, soit mal.

1 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;
2 While the sun, or the light, or the moon, or the stars, be not darkened, nor the clouds return after the rain:
3 In the day when the keepers of the house shall tremble, and the strong men shall bow themselves, and the grinders cease because they are few, and those that look out of the windows be darkened,
4 And the doors shall be shut in the streets, when the sound of the grinding is low, and he shall rise up at the voice of the bird, and all the daughters of musick shall be brought low;
5 Also when they shall be afraid of that which is high, and fears shall be in the way, and the almond tree shall flourish, and the grasshopper shall be a burden, and desire shall fail: because man goeth to his long home, and the mourners go about the streets:
6 Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at the cistern.
7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.
8 Vanity of vanities, saith the preacher; all is vanity.
9 And moreover, because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs.
10 The preacher sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was upright, even words of truth.
11 The words of the wise are as goads, and as nails fastened by the masters of assemblies, which are given from one shepherd.
12 And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.
13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.
14 For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.
