2 Nan lavil la, bò Pòtay Mouton yo, te gen yon gwo basen dlo yo te rele nan lang ebre: Betzata. Te gen senk pòt ki te bay sou li.
3 Devan pòt yo, te gen anpil moun ki te gen tout kalite maladi kouche la: gen sa ki te avèg, gen sa ki t’ap bwete, gen sa ki te paralize. Yo tout yo t’ap tann lè dlo a pran bouyi.
4 Paske, tanzantan, yon zanj Bondye te desann nan basen an vin brase dlo a. Premye moun malad ki te desann nan dlo a apre zanj lan te fin brase l’ la te geri, nenpòt ki maladi li te genyen.
5 Te gen yon nonm la ki te malad depi trantwitan.
6 Jezi wè l’ kouche. Li vin konnen li te malad depi tout tan sa a. Li mande li: Eske ou vle geri?
7 Malad la reponn li: Mèt, mwen pa gen pesonn pou mete m’ nan basen an lè dlo a ap bouyi. Lè mwen fè sa pou m’ ale, yon lòt gen tan desann anvan mwen.
8 Jezi di li: Leve non. Pran nat ou, mache ou ale.
9 Menm lè a, nonm lan geri. Li ranmase nat li, li pran mache. Men, jou sa fèt la se te yon jou repo.
10 Jwif yo di nonm ki te geri a: Jòdi a se jou repo. Lalwa nou an pa pèmèt pou w’ap pote nat ou jòdi a.
11 Li reponn yo: Se moun ki geri m’ lan wi ki di m’ ranmase nat mwen, mache m’ ale.
12 Lè sa a, yo mande li: Kilès sa a ki di ou ranmase nat ou, mache ou ale a?
13 Men, nonm ki te geri a pa t’ konnen ki moun li te ye, paske te sitèlman gen moun la, Jezi te gen tan pati al fè wout li.
14 Pita, Jezi kontre nonm lan nan tanp lan. Li di li konsa: Koute non. Koulye a ou wè ou geri, pa fè peche, tande, pou bagay pi mal pa rive ou.
15 Nonm lan al di jwif yo se Jezi ki te geri li.
16 Se poutèt sa jwif yo tanmen pèsekite Jezi paske li te fè sa yon jou repo.
17 Men, Jezi reponn yo: Se tout tan Papa m’ ap travay. Mwen menm tou, m’ap travay.
18 Poutèt pawòl sa a, jwif yo t’ap chache pi rèd atò pou yo te touye l’. Li pa t’ sèlman fè bagay ki kont lalwa repo a, men li te di yo Bondye se papa li. Lè l’ di sa, li te fè tèt li pase pou menm moun ak Bondye.
19 Lè sa a, Jezi reponn yo: Sa m’ap di nou la a, se vre wi: Pitit Bondye a pa fè anyen pou kò li. Sa l’ wè Papa a fè, se sa l’ fè tou. Tou sa Papa a ap fè, Pitit la fè l’ tou.
20 Papa a renmen Pitit la, li moutre l’ tou sa li menm l’ap fè. Li gen pou l’ moutre l’ fè bagay ki pi estwòdenè pase sa. Lè sa a, nou p’ap manke sezi.
21 Papa a fè moun mouri leve, li ba yo lavi ankò. Konsa tou, Pitit la bay moun li vle lavi.
22 Papa a pa jije pesonn, men li bay Pitit la tout pouvwa pou jije.
23 Konsa, tout moun va gen respè pou Pitit la, menm jan yo gen respè pou Papa a. Moun ki pa respekte Pitit la, li pa gen respè pou Papa ki voye l’ la non plis.
24 Sa m’ap di nou la a, se vre wi: Yon moun ki koute pawòl mwen, ki mete konfyans nan moun ki voye m’ lan, l’ap gen lavi ki p’ap janm fini an. Yo p’ap kondannen li. Li deja soti nan lanmò, li antre nan lavi.
25 Sa m’ap di nou la a, se vre wi: Lè a ap rive, li rive deja: moun mouri yo pral tande vwa Pitit Bondye a. Tout moun mouri ki va tande vwa sa a pral gen lavi.
26 Papa a gen pouvwa pou l’ bay lavi. Konsa tou, li bay Pitit la pouvwa pou bay lavi tou.
27 Li bay Pitit la otorite pou jije, paske Pitit la, se Moun Bondye voye nan lachè a.
28 Nou pa bezwen sezi. Lè a pral rive: tout mò ki nan tonm pral tande vwa li,
29 yo pral leve soti vivan nan tonm yo. Moun ki fè sa ki byen pral leve pou resevwa lavi ki p’ap janm fini an. Men, tout moun ki fè sa ki mal pral leve pou resevwa kondannasyon yo.
30 Mwen pa kapab fè anyen pou kò mwen. M’ap jije dapre sa Bondye di mwen. Jijman mwen bon paske sa m’ap chache fè a se pa sa m’ vle, men sa moun ki voye m’ lan vle.
31 Si m’ pale tèt mwen byen, moun pa ka asepte sa m’ap di a pou verite.
32 Men, se yon lòt k’ap pale byen sou mwen. Mwen konnen sa l’ap di sou mwen an, se verite.
33 Nou te voye moun bò kot Jan. Li te di nou verite a jan l’ ye a.
34 Mwen menm poutèt pa m’, mwen pa bezwen pesonn pale pou mwen. Men, mwen di nou sa pou nou kapab sove.
35 Jan te tankou yon lanp yo limen ki klere byen bèl. Pou yon tan, nou te byen kontan pwofite limyè li a.
36 Men, pou mwen menm, mwen gen yon lòt bagay ki pale an favè m’ ki pi bon toujou pase sa Jan te di sou mwen an. Se travay m’ap fè a, travay Papa m’ ban m’ fè a ki pale pou mwen. Sa fè wè se Papa a ki voye mwen.
37 Papa ki voye m’ lan, li menm tou l’ap pale an favè mwen. Nou pa janm tande vwa l’, ni nou pa janm wè figi li.
38 Nou pa kenbe pawòl li yo nan kè nou, paske nou pa kwè nan moun li voye a.
39 N’ap plede etidye sa ki ekri nan Liv la, paske nou mete nan tèt nou nou ka jwenn lavi ki pa janm fini an ladan li. Men, se Liv sa a menm ki pale sou mwen.
40 Malgre sa, nou pa vle vin jwenn mwen pou nou ka gen lavi tout bon an.
41 Mwen p’ap chache lwanj nan men lèzòm.
42 Men, mwen konnen ki moun nou ye: nou pa gen renmen pou Bondye nan kè nou.
43 Se Papa m’ ki voye mwen. Men, nou pa vle resevwa mwen. Men, kite yon lòt moun vin pou kont li, n’ap resevwa li.
44 Nou renmen resevwa lwanj yonn nan men lòt, nou pa chache lwanj ki soti nan men Bondye ki pa gen parèy la. Nan kondisyon sa a, ki jan pou nou kwè?
45 Pa mete nan tèt nou mwen pral akize nou devan Papa mwen. Se Moyiz ki pral akize nou, Moyiz nou di ki tout espwa nou an.
46 Si nou te kwè tout bon nan Moyiz, nou ta kwè nan mwen tou, paske li ekri sou mwen tou.
47 Men, nou pa kwè nan sa l’ te ekri a. Ki jan pou n’ ta fè kwè sa m’ap di nou an?

1 Après cela, il y eut une fête des Juifs, et Jésus monta à Jérusalem.
2 Or, à Jérusalem, près de la porte des brebis, il y a une piscine qui s’appelle en hébreu Béthesda, et qui a cinq portiques.
3 Sous ces portiques étaient couchés en grand nombre des malades, des aveugles, des boiteux, des paralytiques, qui attendaient le mouvement de l’eau;
4 car un ange descendait de temps en temps dans la piscine, et agitait l’eau; et celui qui y descendait le premier après que l’eau avait été agitée était guéri, quelle que fût sa maladie.
5 Là se trouvait un homme malade depuis trente-huit ans.
6 Jésus, l’ayant vu couché, et sachant qu’il était malade depuis longtemps, lui dit: Veux-tu être guéri?
7 Le malade lui répondit: Seigneur, je n’ai personne pour me jeter dans la piscine quand l’eau est agitée, et, pendant que j’y vais, un autre descend avant moi.
8 Lève-toi, lui dit Jésus, prends ton lit, et marche.
9 Aussitôt cet homme fut guéri; il prit son lit, et marcha.
10 C’était un jour de sabbat. Les Juifs dirent donc à celui qui avait été guéri: C’est le sabbat; il ne t’est pas permis d’emporter ton lit.
11 Il leur répondit: Celui qui m’a guéri m’a dit: Prends ton lit, et marche.
12 Ils lui demandèrent: Qui est l’homme qui t’a dit: Prends ton lit, et marche?
13 Mais celui qui avait été guéri ne savait pas qui c’était; car Jésus avait disparu de la foule qui était en ce lieu.
14 Depuis, Jésus le trouva dans le temple, et lui dit: Voici, tu as été guéri; ne pèche plus, de peur qu’il ne t’arrive quelque chose de pire.
15 Cet homme s’en alla, et annonça aux Juifs que c’était Jésus qui l’avait guéri.
16 C’est pourquoi les Juifs poursuivaient Jésus, parce qu’il faisait ces choses le jour du sabbat.
17 Mais Jésus leur répondit: Mon Père agit jusqu’à présent; moi aussi, j’agis.
18 A cause de cela, les Juifs cherchaient encore plus à le faire mourir, non seulement parce qu’il violait le sabbat, mais parce qu’il appelait Dieu son propre Père, se faisant lui-même égal à Dieu.
19 Jésus reprit donc la parole, et leur dit: En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, le Fils ne peut rien faire de lui-même, il ne fait que ce qu’il voit faire au Père; et tout ce que le Père fait, le Fils aussi le fait pareillement.
20 Car le Père aime le Fils, et lui montre tout ce qu’il fait; et il lui montrera des oeuvres plus grandes que celles-ci, afin que vous soyez dans l’étonnement.
21 Car, comme le Père ressuscite les morts et donne la vie, ainsi le Fils donne la vie à qui il veut.
22 Le Père ne juge personne, mais il a remis tout jugement au Fils,
23 afin que tous honorent le Fils comme ils honorent le Père. Celui qui n’honore pas le Fils n’honore pas le Père qui l’a envoyé.
24 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, celui qui écoute ma parole, et qui croit à celui qui m’a envoyé, a la vie éternelle et ne vient point en jugement, mais il est passé de la mort à la vie.
25 En vérité, en vérité, je vous le dis, l’heure vient, et elle est déjà venue, où les morts entendront la voix du Fils de Dieu; et ceux qui l’auront entendue vivront.
26 Car, comme le Père a la vie en lui-même, ainsi il a donné au Fils d’avoir la vie en lui-même.
27 Et il lui a donné le pouvoir de juger, parce qu’il est Fils de l’homme.
28 Ne vous étonnez pas de cela; car l’heure vient où tous ceux qui sont dans les sépulcres entendront sa voix, et en sortiront.
29 Ceux qui auront fait le bien ressusciteront pour la vie, mais ceux qui auront fait le mal ressusciteront pour le jugement.
30 Je ne puis rien faire de moi-même: selon que j’entends, je juge; et mon jugement est juste, parce que je ne cherche pas ma volonté, mais la volonté de celui qui m’a envoyé.
31 Si c’est moi qui rends témoignage de moi-même, mon témoignage n’est pas vrai.
32 Il y en a un autre qui rend témoignage de moi, et je sais que le témoignage qu’il rend de moi est vrai.
33 Vous avez envoyé vers Jean, et il a rendu témoignage à la vérité.
34 Pour moi ce n’est pas d’un homme que je reçois le témoignage; mais je dis ceci, afin que vous soyez sauvés.
35 Jean était la lampe qui brûle et qui luit, et vous avez voulu vous réjouir une heure à sa lumière.
36 Moi, j’ai un témoignage plus grand que celui de Jean; car les oeuvres que le Père m’a donné d’accomplir, ces oeuvres mêmes que je fais, témoignent de moi que c’est le Père qui m’a envoyé.
37 Et le Père qui m’a envoyé a rendu lui-même témoignage de moi. Vous n’avez jamais entendu sa voix, vous n’avez point vu sa face,
38 et sa parole ne demeure point en vous, parce que vous ne croyez pas à celui qu’il a envoyé.
39 Vous sondez les Écritures, parce que vous pensez avoir en elles la vie éternelle: ce sont elles qui rendent témoignage de moi.
40 Et vous ne voulez pas venir à moi pour avoir la vie!
41 Je ne tire pas ma gloire des hommes.
42 Mais je sais que vous n’avez point en vous l’amour de Dieu.
43 Je suis venu au nom de mon Père, et vous ne me recevez pas; si un autre vient en son propre nom, vous le recevrez.
44 Comment pouvez-vous croire, vous qui tirez votre gloire les uns des autres, et qui ne cherchez point la gloire qui vient de Dieu seul?
45 Ne pensez pas que moi je vous accuserai devant le Père; celui qui vous accuse, c’est Moïse, en qui vous avez mis votre espérance.
46 Car si vous croyiez Moïse, vous me croiriez aussi, parce qu’il a écrit de moi.
47 Mais si vous ne croyez pas à ses écrits, comment croirez-vous à mes paroles?

1 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.
11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?
13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.
14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.
16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
33 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.
34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.
35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
41 I receive not honour from men.
42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
43 I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
