1 Kisa n’a di konsènan Abraram, granpapa nou? Kisa l’ te jwenn?
2 Si se sa Abraram te fè a ki te fè Bondye fè l’ gras, li ta mèt fè grandizè. Men, li pa ka fè sa devan Bondye.
3 Men sa ki ekri nan Liv la: Abraram te mete konfyans li nan Bondye, se poutèt sa Bondye fè l’ gras.
4 Moun ki fè yon travay resevwa lajan pou sa l’ fè a. Lajan yo ba li a, se pa yon favè, ni se pa kado yo fè li. Se yon bagay yo dwe li.
5 Okontrè, moun ki pa fè okenn travay pou yo dwe li kichòy, men ki mete konfyans li nan Bondye sèlman, Bondye k’ap fè tout moun ki meprize l’ yo gras, ap fè moun sa yo gras tou paske yo mete konfyans yo nan li.
6 Se sa David te vle di, lè l’ deklare: yon moun Bondye fè gras san Bondye pa gade sou sa l’ fè, se moun konsa ki beni:
7 Ala bon sa bon pou moun lè Bondye padonnen peche yo, lè Bondye pa gade sou fòt yo fè!
8 Ala bon sa bon pou yon moun lè Bondye pa mande l’ kont pou sa li fè ki mal!
9 Eske benediksyon sa a se pou moun ki sikonsi yo ase? Eske se pa pou moun ki pa sikonsi yo tou? Nou fèk sot di se paske Abraram te mete konfyans li nan Bondye kifè Bondye te fè l’ gras.
10 Kilè sa te rive? Eske se te anvan Abraram te sikonsi an, osinon nan apre? Non. Se pa t’ nan apre. Se te anvan li te sikonsi.
11 Se lontan apre sa Abraram te resevwa sikonsizyon an tankou yon letanp. Se te mak ki te pou moutre Bondye te fè l’ gras, paske li te kwè anvan menm li te sikonsi. Se poutèt sa Abraram se papa tout moun ki mete konfyans yo nan Bondye, menm si yo pa sikonsi. Moun sa yo, Bondye ap fè yo gras.
12 Abraram se papa moun ki sikonsi yo tou. Pa paske yo sikonsi ase, men paske yo menm tou yo swiv egzanp konfyans Abraram, papa nou, te gen nan Bondye anvan menm li te sikonsi.
13 Bondye te pwomèt Abraram ak pitit pitit li yo pou l’ te ba yo tout latè pou eritaj. Bondye pa t’ fè pwomès sa a paske Abraram te fè sa lalwa mande, men paske Abraram te gen konfyans nan li. Se sak fè Bondye te fè l’ gras.
14 Si sa Bondye te pwomèt la se te pou moun ki fè sa lalwa a mande, moun pa ta bezwen gen konfyans nan Bondye ankò; pwomès li a pèdi tout valè li.
15 Poukisa? Paske lalwa rale kòlè Bondye sou moun. Men, kote ki pa gen lalwa, moun pa ka dezobeyi lalwa.
16 Konsa, Bondye fè pwomès la pou moun ki gen konfyans nan li. Se sak fè, pwomès la se yon favè Bondye pou tout pitit pitit Abraram yo, pa sèlman pou moun ki fè sa lalwa Moyiz la mande, men pou tout moun ki gen konfyans nan Bondye menm jan Abraram te gen konfyans nan li a. Abraram se papa nou tout,
17 jan sa ekri nan Liv la: Mwen fè ou tounen zansèt moun anpil nasyon. Wi, Abraram se papa nou tout devan Bondye, li te mete konfyans li nan Bondye ki fè moun mouri yo leve vivan ankò, nan Bondye ki kreye tout bagay ki pa t’ la.
18 Abraram te gen konfyans nan Bondye, li t’ap tann pwomès la, malgre lè sa a li pa t’ gen okenn rezon pou l’ te tann ankò. Se sak fè li tounen zansèt moun anpil nasyon dapre sa Bondye te di l’: Pitit pitit ou yo va anpil.
19 Lè sa a, Abraram te prèt pou gen santan sou tèt li. Men, konfyans li pa t’ febli lè l’ te gade kò l’ ki te fin ale, epi pou l’ te wè Sara, madanm li, ki pa t’ ka fè pitit ankò.
20 Non, li pa t’ pèdi konfyans nan Bondye, li pa t’ janm mete nan tèt li pwomès Bondye a te ka pa rive. Okontrè, li te vin gen plis konfyans toujou; epi li t’ap chante lwanj Bondye.
21 Li te gen fèm konviksyon Bondye te gen pouvwa pou l’ te fè sa l’ te pwomèt la.
22 Se konsa, poutèt konfyans Abraram te gen nan Bondye a, Bondye fè l’ gras.
23 Men, se pa pou Abraram sèlman yo te ekri pawòl sa yo: Li fè li gras.
24 Pawòl sa yo te ekri pou nou tou. L’ap fè nou gras tou, nou menm ki mete konfyans nou nan moun li fè soti vivan pami mò yo, Jezikri, Seyè nou an.
25 Se Jezi sa a ki te mouri pou peche nou yo epi ki leve soti vivan ankò pou fè Bondye fè nou gras.

Romains 4
1 Que dirons-nous donc qu’Abraham, notre père, a obtenu selon la chair?
2 Si Abraham a été justifié par les oeuvres, il a sujet de se glorifier, mais non devant Dieu.
3 Car que dit l’Écriture? Abraham crut à Dieu, et cela lui fut imputé à justice.
4 Or, à celui qui fait une oeuvre, le salaire est imputé, non comme une grâce, mais comme une chose due;
5 et à celui qui ne fait point d’oeuvre, mais qui croit en celui qui justifie l’impie, sa foi lui est imputée à justice.
6 De même David exprime le bonheur de l’homme à qui Dieu impute la justice sans les oeuvres:
7 Heureux ceux dont les iniquités sont pardonnées, Et dont les péchés sont couverts!
8 Heureux l’homme à qui le Seigneur n’impute pas son péché!
9 Ce bonheur n’est-il que pour les circoncis, ou est-il également pour les incirconcis? Car nous disons que la foi fut imputée à justice à Abraham.
10 Comment donc lui fut-elle imputée? Était-ce après, ou avant sa circoncision? Il n’était pas encore circoncis, il était incirconcis.
11 Et il reçut le signe de la circoncision, comme sceau de la justice qu’il avait obtenue par la foi quand il était incirconcis, afin d’être le père de tous les incirconcis qui croient, pour que la justice leur fût aussi imputée,
12 et le père des circoncis, qui ne sont pas seulement circoncis, mais encore qui marchent sur les traces de la foi de notre père Abraham quand il était incirconcis.
13 En effet, ce n’est pas par la loi que l’héritage du monde a été promis à Abraham ou à sa postérité, c’est par la justice de la foi.
14 Car, si les héritiers le sont par la loi, la foi est vaine, et la promesse est anéantie,
15 parce que la loi produit la colère, et que là où il n’y a point de loi il n’y a point non plus de transgression.
16 C’est pourquoi les héritiers le sont par la foi, pour que ce soit par grâce, afin que la promesse soit assurée à toute la postérité, non seulement à celle qui est sous la loi, mais aussi à celle qui a la foi d’Abraham, notre père à tous, selon qu’il est écrit:
17 Je t’ai établi père d’un grand nombre de nations. Il est notre père devant celui auquel il a cru, Dieu, qui donne la vie aux morts, et qui appelle les choses qui ne sont point comme si elles étaient.
18 Espérant contre toute espérance, il crut, en sorte qu’il devint père d’un grand nombre de nations, selon ce qui lui avait été dit: Telle sera ta postérité.
19 Et, sans faiblir dans la foi, il ne considéra point que son corps était déjà usé, puisqu’il avait près de cent ans, et que Sara n’était plus en état d’avoir des enfants.
20 Il ne douta point, par incrédulité, au sujet de la promesse de Dieu; mais il fut fortifié par la foi, donnant gloire à Dieu,
21 et ayant la pleine conviction que ce qu’il promet il peut aussi l’accomplir.
22 C’est pourquoi cela lui fut imputé à justice.
23 Mais ce n’est pas à cause de lui seul qu’il est écrit que cela lui fut imputé;
24 c’est encore à cause de nous, à qui cela sera imputé, à nous qui croyons en celui qui a ressuscité des morts Jésus notre Seigneur,
25 lequel a été livré pour nos offenses, et est ressuscité pour notre justification.

Romans 4
1 What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?
2 For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
3 For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
4 Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
6 Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
9 Cometh this blessedness then upon the circumcision only, or upon the uncircumcision also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness.
10 How was it then reckoned? when he was in circumcision, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision.
11 And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:
12 And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised.
13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
15 Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression.
16 Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
17 (As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were.
18 Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be.
19 And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah’s womb:
20 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
