1 Lè Festis rive nan pwovens lan, sou twa jou li kite Sezare, li ale lavil Jerizalèm.
2 Chèf prèt yo ansanm ak jwif ki te grannèg nan lavil la vin pote plent ba li pou Pòl.
3 Yo mande Festis yon favè. Yo mande l’ pou l’ fè mennen Pòl Jerizalèm. Yo te gen tan fè konplo pou touye l’ sou wout la.
4 Men, Festis reponn yo: Pòl deja nan prizon Sezare. Mwen menm poutèt pa m’, mwen pral tounen Sezare talè konsa.
5 Si Pòl fè kichòy ki mal, se pou chèf nou yo desann ansanm avè m’, y’a akize l’ laba a.
6 Festis pase wit a dis jou sèlman avèk yo Jerizalèm. Apre sa li tounen Sezare. Nan denmen, li al chita nan tribinal la, li bay lòd pou yo mennen Pòl.
7 Lè Pòl rive, jwif ki te soti Jerizalèm yo vin kanpe bò kote l’, yo pote anpil gwo akizasyon kont li, men yo pa t’ kapab bay okenn prèv.
8 Men sa Pòl di pou defann tèt li: Mwen pa fè anyen ki kont lalwa jwif yo, ni kont tanp lan, ni kont Seza.
9 Festis menm ki te vle fè jwif yo plezi mande Pòl: Eske ou pa ta vle al Jerizalèm pou yo ka jije ou devan m’ sou zafè sa a?
10 Pòl reponn li: Se devan tribinal Seza mwen ye, se la pou yo jije mwen. Mwen pa fè jwif yo anyen. Ou konnen sa byen pwòp.
11 Si m’ desobeyi lalwa, si m’ fè yon bagay ki merite lanmò, mwen p’ap refize mouri. Men tou, si akizasyon y’ap pote sou mwen yo pa vre, pesonn pa ka lage m’ nan men yo. Mwen mande pou Seza tande kòz mwen.
12 Lè sa a, Festis fè yon ti pale ak manm konsèy li yo, epi l’ di: Bon. Ou mande pou Seza tande kòz ou, ou pral devan Seza.
13 Kèk jou apre sa, wa Agripa ak Berenis rive Sezare. Yo te vin di Festis bonjou.
14 Yo t’ap pase kèk jou la. Festis pwofite esplike sitiyasyon Pòl la bay wa a, li di li: Feliks te kite yon nonm nan prizon isit la.
15 Lè m’ te al Jerizalèm chèf prèt yo ansanm ak chèf fanmi jwif yo te vin pote m’ plent pou li, yo mande m’ pou m’ kondannen li.
16 Mwen reponn yo: Se pa koutim moun lavil Wòm yo pou yo renmèt yon akize bay lènmi l’ konsa san yo pa mete l’ fasafas ak moun k’ap akize l’ yo anvan. Se pou l’ gen chans defann tèt li tou anba akizasyon yo.
17 Se konsa yo vin isit la avèk mwen. Mwen pa t’ pèdi tan mwen. Nan denmen m’ al chita nan tribinal la, mwen bay lòd pou yo mennen nonm lan.
18 Moun ki t’ap akize l’ yo vin parèt tou, men yo pa t’ bay okenn move zak li te fè, jan m’ te kwè a.
19 Se yon diskisyon sèlman yo te gen avè l’ sou relijyon yo a ak sou yon nonm yo rele Jezi ki mouri. Men, Pòl sètifye nonm sa a leve, li vivan ankò.
20 Mwen pa t’ konn sa pou m’ te fè ankò pou m’ te pran enfòmasyon sou keksyon sa yo. Mwen mande Pòl si l’ pa ta vle al Jerizalèm pou yo te ka jije l’ sou zafè sa a la.
21 Men, Pòl mande pou Seza tande kòz li. Li mande pou yo kenbe l’ nan prizon jouk Seza va pran yon desizyon sou ka li. Se konsa mwen bay lòd pou yo pa lage l’ jouk m’a ka voye l’ bay Seza.
22 Agripa di Festis konsa: Mwen ta renmen tande nonm sa a. Festis reponn li: Denmen wa tande li.
23 Se konsa, nan denmen Agripa ak Berenis vin nan mitan yon gwo kòtèj. Yo antre nan sal odyans lan avèk tout chèf militè yo ansanm ak notab lavil la. Festis bay yon lòd, epi yo mennen Pòl vini.
24 Apre sa, Festis di: Wa Agripa, nou tout ki isit la avèk nou, men li! Nou wè nonm sa a. Tout jwif yo vin pote m’ plent pou li, ni laba Jerizalèm ni isit la. Y’ap plede rele nonm sa a te fèt pou l’ mouri deja.
25 Mwen menm, pou tèt pa m’, mwen wè li pa fè anyen ki merite lanmò. Men, li menm li mande pou Seza tande kòz li. Se poutèt sa, mwen pran desizyon voye l’ bay Seza.
26 Mwen pa gen anyen ki sèten pou m’ ekri sou li. Se poutèt sa mwen fè l’ konparèt devan nou, devan ou menm sitou, wa Agripa. Konsa m’a jwenn sa pou m’ ekri lè n’a fin poze l’ keksyon.
27 Pou mwen menm, sa pa gen sans pou espedye yon prizonye konsa san ou pa di egzakteman kisa li fè.

Actes 25
1 Festus, étant arrivé dans la province, monta trois jours après de Césarée à Jérusalem.
2 Les principaux sacrificateurs et les principaux d’entre les Juifs lui portèrent plainte contre Paul. Ils firent des instances auprès de lui, et, dans des vues hostiles,
3 lui demandèrent comme une faveur qu’il le fît venir à Jérusalem. Ils préparaient un guet-apens, pour le tuer en chemin.
4 Festus répondit que Paul était gardé à Césarée, et que lui-même devait partir sous peu.
5 Que les principaux d’entre vous descendent avec moi, dit-il, et s’il y a quelque chose de coupable en cet homme, qu’ils l’accusent.
6 Festus ne passa que huit à dix jours parmi eux, puis il descendit à Césarée. Le lendemain, s’étant assis sur son tribunal, il donna l’ordre qu’on amenât Paul.
7 Quand il fut arrivé, les Juifs qui étaient venus de Jérusalem l’entourèrent, et portèrent contre lui de nombreuses et graves accusations, qu’ils n’étaient pas en état de prouver.
8 Paul entreprit sa défense, en disant: Je n’ai rien fait de coupable, ni contre la loi des Juifs, ni contre le temple, ni contre César.
9 Festus, désirant plaire aux Juifs, répondit à Paul: Veux-tu monter à Jérusalem, et y être jugé sur ces choses en ma présence?
10 Paul dit: C’est devant le tribunal de César que je comparais, c’est là que je dois être jugé. Je n’ai fait aucun tort aux Juifs, comme tu le sais fort bien.
11 Si j’ai commis quelque injustice, ou quelque crime digne de mort, je ne refuse pas de mourir; mais, si les choses dont ils m’accusent sont fausses, personne n’a le droit de me livrer à eux. J’en appelle à César.
12 Alors Festus, après avoir délibéré avec le conseil, répondit: Tu en as appelé à César; tu iras devant César.
13 Quelques jours après, le roi Agrippa et Bérénice arrivèrent à Césarée, pour saluer Festus.
14 Comme ils passèrent là plusieurs jours, Festus exposa au roi l’affaire de Paul, et dit: Félix a laissé prisonnier un homme
15 contre lequel, lorsque j’étais à Jérusalem, les principaux sacrificateurs et les anciens des Juifs ont porté plainte, en demandant sa condamnation.
16 Je leur ai répondu que ce n’est pas la coutume des Romains de livrer un homme avant que l’inculpé ait été mis en présence de ses accusateurs, et qu’il ait eu la faculté de se défendre sur les choses dont on l’accuse.
17 Ils sont donc venus ici, et, sans différer, je m’assis le lendemain sur mon tribunal, et je donnai l’ordre qu’on amenât cet homme.
18 Les accusateurs, s’étant présentés, ne lui imputèrent rien de ce que je supposais;
19 ils avaient avec lui des discussions relatives à leur religion particulière, et à un certain Jésus qui est mort, et que Paul affirmait être vivant.
20 Ne sachant quel parti prendre dans ce débat, je lui demandai s’il voulait aller à Jérusalem, et y être jugé sur ces choses.
21 Mais Paul en ayant appelé, pour que sa cause fût réservée à la connaissance de l’empereur, j’ai ordonné qu’on le gardât jusqu’à ce que je l’envoyasse à César.
22 Agrippa dit à Festus: Je voudrais aussi entendre cet homme. Demain, répondit Festus, tu l’entendras.
23 Le lendemain donc, Agrippa et Bérénice vinrent en grande pompe, et entrèrent dans le lieu de l’audience avec les tribuns et les principaux de la ville. Sur l’ordre de Festus, Paul fut amené.
24 Alors Festus dit: Roi Agrippa, et vous tous qui êtes présents avec nous, vous voyez cet homme au sujet duquel toute la multitude des Juifs s’est adressée à moi, soit à Jérusalem, soit ici, en s’écriant qu’il ne devait plus vivre.
25 Pour moi, ayant reconnu qu’il n’a rien fait qui mérite la mort, et lui-même en ayant appelé à l’empereur, j’ai résolu de le faire partir.
26 Je n’ai rien de certain à écrire à l’empereur sur son compte; c’est pourquoi je l’ai fait paraître devant vous, et surtout devant toi, roi Agrippa, afin de savoir qu’écrire, après qu’il aura été examiné.
27 Car il me semble absurde d’envoyer un prisonnier sans indiquer de quoi on l’accuse.

Acts 25
1 Now when Festus was come into the province, after three days he ascended from Caesarea to Jerusalem.
2 Then the high priest and the chief of the Jews informed him against Paul, and besought him,
3 And desired favour against him, that he would send for him to Jerusalem, laying wait in the way to kill him.
4 But Festus answered, that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself would depart shortly thither.
5 Let them therefore, said he, which among you are able, go down with me, and accuse this man, if there be any wickedness in him.
6 And when he had tarried among them more than ten days, he went down unto Caesarea; and the next day sitting on the judgment seat commanded Paul to be brought.
7 And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.
8 While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.
9 But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?
10 Then said Paul, I stand at Caesar’s judgment seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest.
11 For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but if there be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me unto them. I appeal unto Caesar.
12 Then Festus, when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Caesar? unto Caesar shalt thou go.
13 And after certain days king Agrippa and Bernice came unto Caesarea to salute Festus.
14 And when they had been there many days, Festus declared Paul’s cause unto the king, saying, There is a certain man left in bonds by Felix:
15 About whom, when I was at Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews informed me, desiring to have judgment against him.
16 To whom I answered, It is not the manner of the Romans to deliver any man to die, before that he which is accused have the accusers face to face, and have licence to answer for himself concerning the crime laid against him.
17 Therefore, when they were come hither, without any delay on the morrow I sat on the judgment seat, and commanded the man to be brought forth.
18 Against whom when the accusers stood up, they brought none accusation of such things as I supposed:
19 But had certain questions against him of their own superstition, and of one Jesus, which was dead, whom Paul affirmed to be alive.
20 And because I doubted of such manner of questions, I asked him whether he would go to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these matters.
21 But when Paul had appealed to be reserved unto the hearing of Augustus, I commanded him to be kept till I might send him to Caesar.
22 Then Agrippa said unto Festus, I would also hear the man myself. To morrow, said he, thou shalt hear him.
23 And on the morrow, when Agrippa was come, and Bernice, with great pomp, and was entered into the place of hearing, with the chief captains, and principal men of the city, at Festus’ commandment Paul was brought forth.
24 And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and also here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
25 But when I found that he had committed nothing worthy of death, and that he himself hath appealed to Augustus, I have determined to send him.
26 Of whom I have no certain thing to write unto my lord. Wherefore I have brought him forth before you, and specially before thee, O king Agrippa, that, after examination had, I might have somewhat to write.
27 For it seemeth to me unreasonable to send a prisoner, and not withal to signify the crimes laid against him.
