1 Lè tout wa peyi Amori yo ki te rete lòt bò larivyè Jouden sou bò solèy kouche a ansanm ak tout wa peyi Kanaran yo ki te rete sou tout rivaj gwo lanmè Mediterane a vin konnen Seyè a te cheche dlo larivyè Jouden an pou pèp Izrayèl la te pase larivyè a, yo vin pè anpil, yo pèdi tout kouraj yo devan pèp Izrayèl la.
2 Lè sa a, Seyè a pale ak Jozye, li di l’ konsa: -Pran wòch dife, kase yo fè zenglen pou sikonsi gason pèp Izrayèl ki fèt nan dezè a.
3 Se konsa, Jozye fè yon bann zenglen wòch byen file, li sikonsi tout gason pèp Izrayèl la yon kote yo rele Bit po ti kòk.
4 Li te fè sa paske tout gason ki te gen laj pou yo pote zam lè yo te soti kite peyi Lejip la te mouri nan dezè a pandan yo t’ap vwayaje a.
5 Tout gason ki te vivan lè yo te soti kite peyi Lejip la te sikonsi. Men, ankenn nan gason ki te fèt pandan yo t’ap vwayaje nan dezè a pa t’ ankò sikonsi.
6 Pèp Izrayèl la te pase karantan ap vwayaje nan dezè a. Pandan tout tan sa a, tout gason ki te gen laj pou fè lagè lè yo te soti kite peyi Lejip la te mouri, paske yo pa t’ koute Seyè a lè li te pale yo. Se konsa li te di yo li pa t’ap kite yo yonn wè peyi li te pwomèt li t’ap bay zansèt yo a, bon peyi kote lèt ak siwo myèl ap koule tankou dlo a.
7 Men, li ba yo pitit pou ranplase yo. Se pitit sa yo Jozye te sikonsi paske yo pa t’ sikonsi yo lè yo t’ap vwayaje nan dezè a.
8 Lè li fin sikonsi tout gason yo, tout pèp la rete la kote yo te moute tant yo a, jouk yo te geri.
9 Apre sa, Seyè a di Jozye konsa: -Jòdi a mwen wete wont yo te fè nou nan peyi Lejip la, mwen voye l’ jete. Se poutèt sa yo rele kote yo te ye a Gilgal jouk jòdi a.
10 Antan pèp Izrayèl la te rete Gilgal nan plenn ki toupre lavil Jeriko, yo fete Fèt Delivrans lan nan aswè katòzyèm jou premye mwa a.
11 Nan denmen Fèt Delivrans lan, yo manje manje yo rekòlte nan peyi a: grenn ble griye ak pen kwit san ledven.
12 Apre sa, laman lan sispann tonbe. Depi lè sa a, pèp Izrayèl la pa jwenn laman pou yo manje ankò. Pandan tout lanne a yo manje manje yo te rekolte nan peyi Kanaran an.
13 Yon jou, antan Jozye te toupre lavil Jeriko a, li rete konsa, li wè yon nonm kanpe devan l’ avèk yon nepe nan men l’. Jozye mache sou li, epi li mande l’: -Ou se yonn nan moun pa nou yo osinon yon lènmi?
14 Nonm lan reponn li: -M’ pa ni yonn ni lòt. Mwen se kòmandan an chèf lame Seyè a. Mwen fèk rive. Jozye tonbe ajenou devan l’, li bese tèt li jouk atè, li di l’ konsa: -Se sèvitè ou mwen ye, mèt. Kisa ou vle m’ fè pou ou?
15 Kòmandan an chèf lame Seyè a di l’ konsa: -Wete sapat nan pye ou. Kote ou kanpe a se yon kote ki apa pou Bondye. Epi Jozye fè sa li di l’ fè a.

Josué 5
1 Lorsque tous les rois des Amoréens à l’occident du Jourdain et tous les rois des Cananéens près de la mer apprirent que l’Éternel avait mis à sec les eaux du Jourdain devant les enfants d’Israël jusqu’à ce que nous eussions passé, ils perdirent courage et furent consternés à l’aspect des enfants d’Israël.
2 En ce temps-là, l’Éternel dit à Josué: Fais-toi des couteaux de pierre, et circoncis de nouveau les enfants d’Israël, une seconde fois.
3 Josué se fit des couteaux de pierre, et il circoncit les enfants d’Israël sur la colline d’Araloth.
4 Voici la raison pour laquelle Josué les circoncit. Tout le peuple sorti d’Égypte, les mâles, tous les hommes de guerre, étaient morts dans le désert, pendant la route, après leur sortie d’Égypte.
5 Tout ce peuple sorti d’Égypte était circoncis; mais tout le peuple né dans le désert, pendant la route, après la sortie d’Égypte, n’avait point été circoncis.
6 Car les enfants d’Israël avaient marché quarante ans dans le désert jusqu’à la destruction de toute la nation des hommes de guerre qui étaient sortis d’Égypte et qui n’avaient point écouté la voix de l’Éternel; l’Éternel leur jura de ne pas leur faire voir le pays qu’il avait juré à leurs pères de nous donner, pays où coulent le lait et le miel.
7 Ce sont leurs enfants qu’il établit à leur place; et Josué les circoncit, car ils étaient incirconcis, parce qu’on ne les avait point circoncis pendant la route.
8 Lorsqu’on eut achevé de circoncire toute la nation, ils restèrent à leur place dans le camp jusqu’à leur guérison.
9 L’Éternel dit à Josué: Aujourd’hui, j’ai roulé de dessus vous l’opprobre de l’Égypte. Et ce lieu fut appelé du nom de Guilgal jusqu’à ce jour.
10 Les enfants d’Israël campèrent à Guilgal; et ils célébrèrent la Pâque le quatorzième jour du mois, sur le soir, dans les plaines de Jéricho.
11 Ils mangèrent du blé du pays le lendemain de la Pâque, des pains sans levain et du grain rôti; ils en mangèrent ce même jour.
12 La manne cessa le lendemain de la Pâque, quand ils mangèrent du blé du pays; les enfants d’Israël n’eurent plus de manne, et ils mangèrent des produits du pays de Canaan cette année-là.
13 Comme Josué était près de Jéricho, il leva les yeux, et regarda. Voici, un homme se tenait debout devant lui, son épée nue dans la main. Il alla vers lui, et lui dit: Es-tu des nôtres ou de nos ennemis?
14 Il répondit: Non, mais je suis le chef de l’armée de l’Éternel, j’arrive maintenant. Josué tomba le visage contre terre, se prosterna, et lui dit: Qu’est-ce que mon seigneur dit à son serviteur?
15 Et le chef de l’armée de l’Éternel dit à Josué: Ote tes souliers de tes pieds, car le lieu sur lequel tu te tiens est saint. Et Josué fit ainsi.

1 And it came to pass, when all the kings of the Amorites, which were on the side of Jordan westward, and all the kings of the Canaanites, which were by the sea, heard that the Lord had dried up the waters of Jordan from before the children of Israel, until we were passed over, that their heart melted, neither was there spirit in them any more, because of the children of Israel.
2 At that time the Lord said unto Joshua, Make thee sharp knives, and circumcise again the children of Israel the second time.
3 And Joshua made him sharp knives, and circumcised the children of Israel at the hill of the foreskins.
4 And this is the cause why Joshua did circumcise: All the people that came out of Egypt, that were males, even all the men of war, died in the wilderness by the way, after they came out of Egypt.
5 Now all the people that came out were circumcised: but all the people that were born in the wilderness by the way as they came forth out of Egypt, them they had not circumcised.
6 For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people that were men of war, which came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they obeyed not the voice of the Lord: unto whom the Lord sware that he would not shew them the land, which the Lord sware unto their fathers that he would give us, a land that floweth with milk and honey.
7 And their children, whom he raised up in their stead, them Joshua circumcised: for they were uncircumcised, because they had not circumcised them by the way.
8 And it came to pass, when they had done circumcising all the people, that they abode in their places in the camp, till they were whole.
9 And the Lord said unto Joshua, This day have I rolled away the reproach of Egypt from off you. Wherefore the name of the place is called Gilgal unto this day.
10 And the children of Israel encamped in Gilgal, and kept the passover on the fourteenth day of the month at even in the plains of Jericho.
11 And they did eat of the old corn of the land on the morrow after the passover, unleavened cakes, and parched corn in the selfsame day.
12 And the manna ceased on the morrow after they had eaten of the old corn of the land; neither had the children of Israel manna any more; but they did eat of the fruit of the land of Canaan that year.
13 And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted up his eyes and looked, and, behold, there stood a man over against him with his sword drawn in his hand: and Joshua went unto him, and said unto him, Art thou for us, or for our adversaries?
14 And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the Lord am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my Lord unto his servant?
15 And the captain of the Lord‘s host said unto Joshua, Loose thy shoe from off thy foot; for the place whereon thou standest is holy. And Joshua did so.
