2 Lè sa a, moun pèp Izrayèl yo fè yon ve bay Seyè a, yo di konsa: -Si ou lage moun sa yo nan men nou, n’ap mete yo tout apa pou ou ansanm ak tout lavil yo. N’ap detwi yo nèt.
3 Seyè a tande sa yo te mande l’ la, epi li ede yo, li fè yo mete men sou moun Kanaran yo. Moun pèp Izrayèl yo disparèt tout moun yo ansanm ak tout lavil yo. Se poutèt sa yo rele kote sa a Oma.
4 Moun Izrayèl yo pati, yo kite mòn Or la, yo pran wout ki mennen bò Lanmè Wouj la, pou yo pa pase nan peyi Edon an. Men, antan y’ap vwayaje a, pèp la vin dekouraje.
5 Pèp la pale Bondye ansanm ak Moyiz mal, yo leve dèyè yo, yo di konsa: -Poukisa nou fè nou soti kite peyi Lejip la? Gen lè se pou fè nou vin mouri nan dezè sa a kote ki pa gen ni manje ni dlo. Nou bouke manje vye manje sa a ki pa ka fè anyen pou nou ankò.
6 Lè sa a, Seyè a voye yon bann ti sèpan sou pèp la. Kote sèpan sa yo mòde ou la boule kou dife. Yo mòde pèp la. Anpil moun te mouri.
7 Pèp la vin jwenn Moyiz, yo di l’ konsa: -Nou rekonèt nou fè sa ki mal lè nou pale kont Seyè a ak kont ou menm tou. Tanpri, lapriyè Seyè a pou nou pou l’ fè sèpan sa yo ale. Moyiz lapriyè pou pèp la vre.
8 Seyè a di Moyiz konsa: -Fè pòtre yon sèpan parèy ak sèpan sa yo. Mete l’ sou yon poto byen wo. Konsa, depi yon sèpan mòde yon moun, moun lan va annik gade pòtre sèpan an, epi li p’ap mouri.
9 Moyiz pran kwiv, li fonn li, li fè yon sèpan parèy ak sèpan yo. Lèfini, li mete l’ sou yon poto byen wo. Tout moun sèpan mòde, depi yo voye je yo gade sèpan an kwiv la, yo pa mouri.
10 Moun pèp Izrayèl yo pati, y’ al moute kan yo nan fon Obòt la.
11 Apre sa, yo kite fon Obòt, y’ al moute kan yo bò mazi Abarim yo nan dezè ki sou bò lès peyi Moab la.
12 Apre sa ankò, yo kite kote yo te ye a, y’ al moute kan yo nan ravin Zerèd.
13 Lè yo kite ravin Zerèd, y’ al moute kan yo lòt bò larivyè Anon nan dezè ki rive jouk nan teritwa moun Amori yo. Rivyè Anon sa a te sèvi fwontyè ant peyi Moab ak peyi Amori a.

20 Lè yo kite Bannòt, y’ ale nan fon ki nan peyi Moab la, jouk sou tèt mòn Pisga, kote y’ap gade tout dezè a nan pye yo.
21 Lè sa a, moun pèp Izrayèl yo voye mesaje bò kote Siyon, wa peyi Amori a, pou di l’ konsa:
22 -Kite nou pase ase nan mitan peyi ou la! Nou p’ap kite wout nou pou pase nan mitan jaden ou, ni nan mitan pye rezen ou yo. Ata bwè nou p’ap bwè dlo nan pi ou yo. N’ap rete sou gran chemen ou va moutre nou an, jouk n’a fin travèse lòt bò peyi ou la.
23 Men, Siyon pa t’ vle kite pèp Izrayèl la pase sou tè li yo. Li leve tout pèp l’ a, li mache sou moun pèp Izrayèl yo, l’ al kontre ak yo yon kote nan dezè a yo rele Jaza, l’ atake yo.
24 Men, moun Izrayèl yo touye anpil ladan yo nan batay la, yo pran tout peyi a nan men yo, depi larivyè Anon nan sid rive larivyè Jabòk nan nò, toupre fwontyè peyi Amon an, ki te yon fwontyè byen gade.
25 Se konsa, moun Izrayèl yo pran tout lavil moun Amori yo, depi Esbon, kapital la ak lòt ti bouk nan vwazinaj li ki te sou kont li, epi yo rete ladan yo tout.
26 Lavil Esbon te kapital peyi a. Se la Siyon, wa peyi Amori a, te rete. Se menm Siyon sa a ki te goumen kont ansyen wa peyi Moab la epi ki te pran tout peyi a pou li jouk larivyè Anon.
27 Se poutèt sa sanba yo di: -Ann ale Esbon! Ann al bati l’ ankò! Ann al mete lavil wa Siyon an kanpe sou de pye l’ ankò!
28 Paske yon sèl dife te soti lavil Esbon, Wi, lame wa Siyon an derape tankou yon flanm dife, li boule lavil A Moab. Li devore tout chèf ki rete sou mòn Anon an.
29 Sa pral rèd nèt pou nou, moun peyi Moab! Nou pèdi nèt, nou menm sèvitè Kemòch! Bondye nou an fè pitit gason nou yo kouri al kache. Li kite pitit fi nou yo tounen prizonye nan men Siyon, wa peyi Amori a.
30 Men koulye a, se moun lavil Esbon yo ki pèdi nèt fwa sa a! Nou mete kou sou yo depi lavil Esbon rive Dibon! Nou devaste peyi a kite l’ blanch jouk Nofak, toupre Medeba.
31 Se konsa, moun pèp Izrayèl yo vin rete nan peyi Amori a.
32 Moyiz menm voye kèk moun wè ki jan sa ye nan lavil Jazè. Apre sa, moun Izrayèl yo mache pran lavil la ak lòt ti bouk ki nan vwazinaj li. Kote yo pase, yo mete moun Amori yo deyò lakay yo.
33 Apre sa, moun pèp Izrayèl yo tounen sou wout yo, yo pran chemen ki mennen lavil Bazan. Epi Og, wa lavil Bazan an, leve tout pèp l’ a, li vin kontre ak yo pou l’ atake yo bò Edreyi.
34 Seyè a di Moyiz konsa: -Ou pa bezwen pè msye! M’ap fè nou kraze l’ anba pye nou, li menm ansanm ak tout pèp l’ a. M’ap fè nou pran peyi l’ la pou nou. Nou pral fè l’ pase sa nou te fè Siyon, wa peyi Amori ki te rete Esbon an, pase.
35 Se konsa, moun pèp Izrayèl yo touye Og, ansanm ak pitit gason l’ yo ak tout pèp l’ a. Yo pa kite yonn chape, yo pran tout peyi a pou yo.

1 Le roi d’Arad, Cananéen, qui habitait le midi, apprit qu’Israël venait par le chemin d’Atharim. Il combattit Israël, et emmena des prisonniers.
2 Alors Israël fit un voeu à l’Éternel, et dit: Si tu livres ce peuple entre mes mains, je dévouerai ses villes par interdit.
3 L’Éternel entendit la voix d’Israël, et livra les Cananéens. On les dévoua par interdit, eux et leurs villes; et l’on nomma ce lieu Horma.
4 Ils partirent de la montagne de Hor par le chemin de la mer Rouge, pour contourner le pays d’Édom. Le peuple s’impatienta en route,
5 et parla contre Dieu et contre Moïse: Pourquoi nous avez-vous fait monter hors d’Égypte, pour que nous mourions dans le désert? car il n’y a point de pain, et il n’y a point d’eau, et notre âme est dégoûtée de cette misérable nourriture.
6 Alors l’Éternel envoya contre le peuple des serpents brûlants; ils mordirent le peuple, et il mourut beaucoup de gens en Israël.
7 Le peuple vint à Moïse, et dit: Nous avons péché, car nous avons parlé contre l’Éternel et contre toi. Prie l’Éternel, afin qu’il éloigne de nous ces serpents. Moïse pria pour le peuple.
8 L’Éternel dit à Moïse: Fais-toi un serpent brûlant, et place-le sur une perche; quiconque aura été mordu, et le regardera, conservera la vie.
9 Moïse fit un serpent d’airain, et le plaça sur une perche; et quiconque avait été mordu par un serpent, et regardait le serpent d’airain, conservait la vie.
10 Les enfants d’Israël partirent, et ils campèrent à Oboth.
11 Ils partirent d’Oboth et ils campèrent à Ijjé Abarim, dans le désert qui est vis-à-vis de Moab, vers le soleil levant.
12 De là ils partirent, et ils campèrent dans la vallée de Zéred.
13 De là ils partirent, et ils campèrent de l’autre côté de l’Arnon, qui coule dans le désert en sortant du territoire des Amoréens; car l’Arnon est la frontière de Moab, entre Moab et les Amoréens.
14 C’est pourquoi il est dit dans le livre des Guerres de l’Éternel: …Vaheb en Supha, et les torrents de l’Arnon,
15 et le cours des torrents, qui s’étend du côté d’Ar et touche à la frontière de Moab.
16 De là ils allèrent à Beer. C’est ce Beer, où l’Éternel dit à Moïse: Rassemble le peuple, et je leur donnerai de l’eau.
17 Alors Israël chanta ce cantique: Monte, puits! Chantez en son honneur!
18 Puits, que des princes ont creusé, Que les grands du peuple ont creusé, Avec le sceptre, avec leurs bâtons!
19 Du désert ils allèrent à Matthana; de Matthana, à Nahaliel; de Nahaliel, à Bamoth;
20 de Bamoth, à la vallée qui est dans le territoire de Moab, au sommet du Pisga, en regard du désert.
21 Israël envoya des messagers à Sihon, roi des Amoréens, pour lui dire:
22 Laisse-moi passer par ton pays; nous n’entrerons ni dans les champs, ni dans les vignes, et nous ne boirons pas l’eau des puits; nous suivrons la route royale, jusqu’à ce que nous ayons franchi ton territoire.
23 Sihon n’accorda point à Israël le passage sur son territoire; il rassembla tout son peuple, et sortit à la rencontre d’Israël, dans le désert; il vint à Jahats, et combattit Israël.
24 Israël le frappa du tranchant de l’épée et s’empara de son pays depuis l’Arnon jusqu’au Jabbok, jusqu’à la frontière des enfants d’Ammon; car la frontière des enfants d’Ammon était fortifiée.
25 Israël prit toutes les villes, et s’établit dans toutes les villes des Amoréens, à Hesbon et dans toutes les villes de son ressort.
26 Car Hesbon était la ville de Sihon, roi des Amoréens; il avait fait la guerre au précédent roi de Moab, et lui avait enlevé tout son pays jusqu’à l’Arnon.
27 C’est pourquoi les poètes disent: Venez à Hesbon! Que la ville de Sihon soit rebâtie et fortifiée!
28 Car il est sorti un feu de Hesbon, Une flamme de la ville de Sihon; Elle a dévoré Ar Moab, Les habitants des hauteurs de l’Arnon.
29 Malheur à toi, Moab! Tu es perdu, peuple de Kemosch! Il a fait de ses fils des fuyards, Et il a livré ses filles captives A Sihon, roi des Amoréens.
30 Nous avons lancé sur eux nos traits: De Hesbon à Dibon tout est détruit; Nous avons étendu nos ravages jusqu’à Nophach, Jusqu’à Médeba.
31 Israël s’établit dans le pays des Amoréens.
32 Moïse envoya reconnaître Jaezer; et ils prirent les villes de son ressort, et chassèrent les Amoréens qui y étaient.
33 Ils changèrent ensuite de direction, et montèrent par le chemin de Basan. Og, roi de Basan, sortit à leur rencontre, avec tout son peuple, pour les combattre à Édréi.
34 L’Éternel dit à Moïse: Ne le crains point; car je le livre entre tes mains, lui et tout son peuple, et son pays; tu le traiteras comme tu as traité Sihon, roi des Amoréens, qui habitait à Hesbon.
35 Et ils le battirent, lui et ses fils, et tout son peuple, sans en laisser échapper un seul, et ils s’emparèrent de son pays.

1 And when king Arad the Canaanite, which dwelt in the south, heard tell that Israel came by the way of the spies; then he fought against Israel, and took some of them prisoners.
2 And Israel vowed a vow unto the Lord, and said, If thou wilt indeed deliver this people into my hand, then I will utterly destroy their cities.
3 And the Lord hearkened to the voice of Israel, and delivered up the Canaanites; and they utterly destroyed them and their cities: and he called the name of the place Hormah.
4 And they journeyed from mount Hor by the way of the Red sea, to compass the land of Edom: and the soul of the people was much discouraged because of the way.
5 And the people spake against God, and against Moses, Wherefore have ye brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? for there is no bread, neither is there any water; and our soul loatheth this light bread.
6 And the Lord sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
7 Therefore the people came to Moses, and said, We have sinned, for we have spoken against the Lord, and against thee; pray unto the Lord, that he take away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people.
8 And the Lord said unto Moses, Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole: and it shall come to pass, that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon it, shall live.
9 And Moses made a serpent of brass, and put it upon a pole, and it came to pass, that if a serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass, he lived.
10 And the children of Israel set forward, and pitched in Oboth.
11 And they journeyed from Oboth, and pitched at Ijeabarim, in the wilderness which is before Moab, toward the sunrising.
12 From thence they removed, and pitched in the valley of Zared.
13 From thence they removed, and pitched on the other side of Arnon, which is in the wilderness that cometh out of the coasts of the Amorites: for Arnon is the border of Moab, between Moab and the Amorites.
14 Wherefore it is said in the book of the wars of the Lord, What he did in the Red sea, and in the brooks of Arnon,
15 And at the stream of the brooks that goeth down to the dwelling of Ar, and lieth upon the border of Moab.
16 And from thence they went to Beer: that is the well whereof the Lord spake unto Moses, Gather the people together, and I will give them water.
17 Then Israel sang this song, Spring up, O well; sing ye unto it:
18 The princes digged the well, the nobles of the people digged it, by the direction of the lawgiver, with their staves. And from the wilderness they went to Mattanah:
19 And from Mattanah to Nahaliel: and from Nahaliel to Bamoth:
20 And from Bamoth in the valley, that is in the country of Moab, to the top of Pisgah, which looketh toward Jeshimon.
21 And Israel sent messengers unto Sihon king of the Amorites, saying,
22 Let me pass through thy land: we will not turn into the fields, or into the vineyards; we will not drink of the waters of the well: but we will go along by the king’s high way, until we be past thy borders.
23 And Sihon would not suffer Israel to pass through his border: but Sihon gathered all his people together, and went out against Israel into the wilderness: and he came to Jahaz, and fought against Israel.
24 And Israel smote him with the edge of the sword, and possessed his land from Arnon unto Jabbok, even unto the children of Ammon: for the border of the children of Ammon was strong.
25 And Israel took all these cities: and Israel dwelt in all the cities of the Amorites, in Heshbon, and in all the villages thereof.
26 For Heshbon was the city of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who had fought against the former king of Moab, and taken all his land out of his hand, even unto Arnon.
27 Wherefore they that speak in proverbs say, Come into Heshbon, let the city of Sihon be built and prepared:
28 For there is a fire gone out of Heshbon, a flame from the city of Sihon: it hath consumed ar of Moab, and the lords of the high places of Arnon.
29 Woe to thee, Moab! thou art undone, O people of Chemosh: he hath given his sons that escaped, and his daughters, into captivity unto Sihon king of the Amorites.
30 We have shot at them; Heshbon is perished even unto Dibon, and we have laid them waste even unto Nophah, which reacheth unto Medeba.
31 Thus Israel dwelt in the land of the Amorites.
32 And Moses sent to spy out Jaazer, and they took the villages thereof, and drove out the Amorites that were there.
33 And they turned and went up by the way of Bashan: and og the king of bashan went out against them, he, and all his people, to the battle at edrei.
34 And the Lord said unto Moses, Fear him not: for I have delivered him into thy hand, and all his people, and his land; and thou shalt do to him as thou didst unto Sihon king of the Amorites, which dwelt at Heshbon.
35 So they smote him, and his sons, and all his people, until there was none left him alive: and they possessed his land.
