1 Jozafa li menm, wa peyi Jida a, tounen lakay li lavil Jerizalèm san anyen pa rive l’.
2 Yon pwofèt yo te rele Jeou, pitit gason Anani an, vin kontre wa a, li di l’ konsa: -Ki jan ou fè al ede moun k’ap fè mal? Ki jan ou rive fè zanmi ak moun ki pa vle wè Seyè a? Se poutèt sa, Seyè a fache sou ou anpil.
3 Men malgre sa, ou fè kèk bagay ki bon. Ou te kraze tout pòtre Achera, bondye fanm, ki te nan peyi a. Lèfini ou te chache fè volonte Bondye.
4 Jozafa te rete lavil Jerizalèm. Men, li pran vizite pèp la nan tout peyi a ankò, depi lavil Bècheba nan sid, rive jouk nan mòn Efrayim yo nan nò, pou l’ te fè pèp la tounen vin jwenn Seyè a, Bondye zansèt yo a.
5 Li mete jij nan chak lavil ak ranpa peyi Jida a, yonn apre lòt.
6 Li di jij yo: -Kalkile byen travay nou pral fè a, paske nou pa pral jije nan non yon moun, men nan non Seyè a. L’ap kanpe la bò kote nou lè n’ap rann jijman.
7 Se pou nou gen krentif pou Seyè a. Veye zo nou nan tou sa n’ap fè, paske Seyè a, Bondye nou an, pa tolere lenjistis ak patipri. Li pa nan pran kado nan men moun pou fè pa yo.
8 Nan lavil Jerizalèm menm, Jozafa chwazi kèk moun Levi, prèt ak chèf fanmi, li mete pou jije tout ka ki an rapò ak lalwa Bondye a, tout pwose moun lavil Jerizalèm yo ka gen yonn ak lòt.
9 Li ba yo lòd, li di yo: -Se pou nou fè travay nou ak krentif pou Bondye. Se pou nou swiv lòd li nan tou sa n’ap fè.
10 Chak fwa frè nou yo ki rete nan lòt lavil yo vin pote yon ka devan nou, kit se pou yon moun yo touye, kit se pou yon lwa, yon lòd, yon regleman osinon yon prensip yo dezobeyi, se pou nou pale ak yo pou yo pa fè anyen ki mal devan Seyè a. Si nou pa fè sa, Seyè a ap move ni sou nou ni sou moun nou yo. Si nou fè sa nou dwe fè, nou p’ap koupab nou menm.
11 Amarya, granprèt la, va pi gwo jij pou tout ka ki an rapò ak lalwa Bondye a. Zebadya, pitit Izmayèl la, chèf branch fanmi Jida a, va pi gwo jij pou tou sa ki an rapò ak lalwa peyi a. Se va reskonsablite moun Levi yo pou yo fè respekte tout desizyon n’a pran. Mete gason sou nou. Fe travay nou. Se pou Seyè a toujou kanpe la ak moun ki mache dwat yo.

1 Josaphat, roi de Juda, revint en paix dans sa maison à Jérusalem.
2 Jéhu, fils de Hanani, le prophète, alla au-devant de lui. Et il dit au roi Josaphat: Doit-on secourir le méchant, et aimes-tu ceux qui haïssent l’Éternel? A cause de cela, l’Éternel est irrité contre toi.
3 Mais il s’est trouvé de bonnes choses en toi, car tu as fait disparaître du pays les idoles, et tu as appliqué ton coeur à chercher Dieu.
4 Josaphat resta à Jérusalem. Puis il fit encore une tournée parmi le peuple, depuis Beer Schéba jusqu’à la montagne d’Éphraïm, et il les ramena à l’Éternel, le Dieu de leurs pères.
5 Il établit des juges dans toutes les villes fortes du pays de Juda, dans chaque ville.
6 Et il dit aux juges: Prenez garde à ce que vous ferez, car ce n’est pas pour les hommes que vous prononcerez des jugements; c’est pour l’Éternel, qui sera près de vous quand vous les prononcerez.
7 Maintenant, que la crainte de l’Éternel soit sur vous; veillez sur vos actes, car il n’y a chez l’Éternel, notre Dieu, ni iniquité, ni égards pour l’apparence des personnes, ni acceptation de présents.
8 Quand on fut de retour à Jérusalem, Josaphat y établit aussi, pour les jugements de l’Éternel et pour les contestations, des Lévites, des sacrificateurs et des chefs de maisons paternelles d’Israël.
9 Et voici les ordres qu’il leur donna: Vous agirez de la manière suivante dans la crainte de l’Éternel, avec fidélité et avec intégrité de coeur.
10 Dans toute contestation qui vous sera soumise par vos frères, établis dans leurs villes, relativement à un meurtre, à une loi, à un commandement, à des préceptes et à des ordonnances, vous les éclairerez, afin qu’ils ne se rendent pas coupables envers l’Éternel, et que sa colère n’éclate pas sur vous et sur vos frères. C’est ainsi que vous agirez, et vous ne serez point coupables.
11 Et voici, vous avez à votre tête Amaria, le souverain sacrificateur, pour toutes les affaires de l’Éternel, et Zebadia, fils d’Ismaël, chef de la maison de Juda, pour toutes les affaires du roi, et vous avez devant vous des Lévites comme magistrats. Fortifiez-vous et agissez, et que l’Éternel soit avec celui qui fera le bien!

1 And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.
2 And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the Lord? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the Lord.
3 Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast taken away the groves out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seek God.
4 And Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem: and he went out again through the people from Beersheba to mount Ephraim, and brought them back unto the Lord God of their fathers.
5 And he set judges in the land throughout all the fenced cities of Judah, city by city,
6 And said to the judges, Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the Lord, who is with you in the judgment.
7 Wherefore now let the fear of the Lord be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.
8 Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set of the Levites, and of the priests, and of the chief of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of the Lord, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem.
9 And he charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the Lord, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.
10 And what cause soever shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in your cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, ye shall even warn them that they trespass not against the Lord, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not trespass.
11 And, behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of the Lord; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, for all the king’s matters: also the Levites shall be officers before you. Deal courageously, and the Lord shall be with the good.
