1 Se konsa Pilat bay lòd pran Jezi, bat li byen bat.
2 Sòlda yo trese yon kouwòn avèk branch pikan, yo mete l’ nan tèt Jezi. Yo mete yon gwo rad wouj fonse sou li.
3 Yo pwoche bò kote l’, yo di li: Bonjou, wa jwif yo. Epi yo souflete li.
4 Pilat soti ankò, li pale ak foul moun yo, li di: Koute. Mwen pral mennen l’ isit la deyò pou nou ka konprann mwen pa jwenn okenn rezon pou m’ kondannen nonm sa a.
5 Se konsa, Jezi soti: li te gen kouwòn pikan an nan tèt li ak gwo rad wouj fonse a sou li. Pilat di yo: Men nonm lan!
6 Lè chèf prèt yo ansanm ak gad yo wè l’, yo kòmanse rele: Kloure l’ sou yon kwa! Kloure l’ sou yon kwa! Pilat di yo: Pran l’, kloure l’ sou kwa a nou menm. Mwen pa wè rezon pou m’ kondannen l’, mwen menm.
7 Jwif yo reponn li: Nou gen yon lwa. Dapre lwa sa a, li gen pou l’ mouri paske li fè tèt li pase pou Pitit Bondye.
8 Lè Pilat tande sa, li vin pi pè toujou.
9 Li antre nan palè a, li mande Jezi: Ki kote ou soti? Men, Jezi pa reponn li.
10 Lè sa a, Pilat di li: Ou p’ap pale avè mwen? Ou pa konnen mwen gen pouvwa pou m’ lage ou, mwen gen pouvwa pou m’ fè yo kloure ou sou yon kwa?
11 Jezi reponn li: Ou pa ta gen okenn pouvwa sou mwen si se pa t’ Bondye nan syèl la ki te ba ou li. Se poutèt sa, moun ki lage m’ nan men ou lan, li pi koupab pase ou.
12 Depi lè sa a, Pilat t’ap chache yon jan pou l’ lage Jezi. Men, jwif yo kòmanse rele: Si ou lage nonm sa a, ou pa zanmi Seza! Depi yon moun ap fè tèt li pase pou wa, se lènmi Seza li ye.
13 Lè Pilat tande koze sa a, li fè yo mennen Jezi deyò, li chita sou gwo chèz nan plas jij la, kote yo rele Lakou Pave a (an lang ebre yo rele l’: Gabata).
14 Se te lavèy fèt Delivrans jwif yo, vè midi konsa. Pilat di jwif yo: Men wa nou an.
15 Men, yo kòmanse rele: Touye li! Touye li! Kloure l’ sou yon kwa! Pilat di yo: Nou vle m’ kloure wa nou an sou yon kwa? Chèf pret yo reponn li: Nou pa gen lòt wa pase Seza.
16 Lè sa a, Pilat renmèt yo Jezi pou y’ al kloure l’ sou yon kwa. Se konsa, yo pran Jezi, yo mennen l’ ale.
17 Jezi soti deyò lavil la, li t’ap pote kwa li jouk yon kote yo rele: Zo bwa Tèt la (An lang ebre, yo rele l’: Gòlgota).
18 Rive la, sòlda yo kloure l’ sou kwa a. Anmenmtan yo kloure de lòt moun sou kwa tou, yonn chak bò, Jezi menm nan mitan yo.
19 Pilat te bay lòd pou yo te fè yon pankat pou mete sou tèt kwa a. Yo te ekri sou li: Jezi, moun Nazarèt la, wa jwif yo.
20 Anpil jwif te li sa ki te ekri sou pankat la. Kote yo te kloure Jezi sou kwa a te toupre lavil la. Pankat la menm te ekri nan twa lang: ebre, laten ak grèk.
21 Lè sa a, chèf prèt jwif yo di Pilat konsa: Pa ekri: Wa Jwif yo. Men, ekri pito: Nonm sa a di se wa jwif yo li ye.
22 Pilat reponn yo: Sa m’ ekri a, m’ ekri l’ nèt.
23 Lè sòlda yo fin kloure Jezi sou kou a, yo pran rad li yo, yo fè kat pil ak yo, yo separe yo bay chak sòlda yo yonn. Yo pran gwo rad san kouti a, rad ki te fèt ak yon sèl pyès depi anwo jouk anba a.
24 Sòlda yo yonn di lòt: Nou p’ap chire rad sa a non. Ann tire osò pou konnen pou ki moun l’ap ye. Se konsa, pawòl ki te ekri nan Liv la rive vre: Yo separe rad mwen ant yo: Yo tire osò pou rad mwen an. Se sa menm sòlda yo te fè.
25 Bò kwa Jezi a te gen manman l’ ak sè manman l’, Mari, madanm Kleopas la, ansanm avèk Mari, moun lavil Magdala a.
26 Jezi wè manman l’ ansanm ak disip li te renmen an toupre li. Li di manman l’ konsa: Madanm, men pitit ou.
27 Li di disip la: Men manman ou. Depi lè sa a, disip la pran manman Jezi lakay li.
28 Jezi te konnen lè sa a tout bagay ki pou te fèt te fin fèt. Pou fè sa ki te ekri nan Liv la rive vre, li di: Mwen swaf.
29 Te gen yon veso plen venèg bò la. Sòlda yo tranpe yon eponj nan venèg la, yo mare l’ nan pwent yon branch bwa yo rele izòp, yo pwoche l’, yo mete l’ bò bouch Jezi.
30 Lè Jezi fin pran venèg la, li di: Tou sa ki pou te rive rive! Apre sa, li bese tèt li, li mouri.
31 Se te lavèy jou repo a. Jwif yo pa t’ vle pou kadav yo te rete sou kwa yo pandan jou repo a, paske jou repo a te yon gwo jou fèt. Yo mande Pilat pou fè kraze janm moun ki te kloure sou kwa yo, lèfini pou l’ te fè wete kadav yo.
32 Se lè sa a, sòlda yo vini, yo kraze janm premye nonm yo te kloure sou kwa menm lè ak Jezi a. Apre sa, yo kraze janm dezyèm lan tou.
33 Men, lè yo rive sou Jezi, yo wè li te gen tan mouri. Se sak fè yo pa t’ kraze janm li yo.
34 Men, yonn nan sòlda yo pèse bò kòt li avèk yon lans. Lamenm, dlo ak san koule sot nan twou a.
35 Moun k’ap rapòte bagay sa yo te wè yo ak je li. Sa l’ap di a se vre. Li konnen li menm l’ap di laverite, pou nou menm tou nou ka kwè.
36 Tou sa pase konsa pou pawòl ki te ekri nan Liv la te ka rive vre: Yo pa kraze yon sèl zo nan kò li.
37 Gen yon lòt pawòl yo te ekri ankò ki di: Y’a leve je yo gade, y’a wè moun yo te pèse a.
38 Apre sa, Jozèf, moun lavil Arimate a, al mande Pilat pèmisyon pou li te pran kò Jezi. (Jozèf sa a te yon disip Jezi, men an kachèt, paske li te pè jwif yo.) Pilat ba l’ pèmisyon an. Se konsa, Jozèf vini, li pran kò Jezi, li pote l’ ale.
39 Nikodèm, nonm ki ta l’ jwenn Jezi yon lè nan mitan lannwit lan, te vini tou. Li te pote senkant lit konsa yon odè yo rele lami melanje ak lalwa nan lwil.
40 Yo tou de rive, yo pran Jezi. Pandan yo t’ap vlope l’ nan bann twal fin yo, yo mete lwil santi bon sou li jan jwif yo te konn fè lè y’ap antere moun.
41 Kote yo te kloure Jezi sou kwa a te gen yon jaden. Nan jaden an te gen yon kavo tou nèf. Yo pa t’ ankò mete pesonn ladan li.
42 Se te lavèy jou repo jwif yo, epi kavo a te toupre. Se sak fè, se la yo te mete kò Jezi a.

1 Alors Pilate prit Jésus, et le fit battre de verges.
2 Les soldats tressèrent une couronne d’épines qu’ils posèrent sur sa tête, et ils le revêtirent d’un manteau de pourpre; puis, s’approchant de lui,
3 ils disaient: Salut, roi des Juifs! Et ils lui donnaient des soufflets.
4 Pilate sortit de nouveau, et dit aux Juifs: Voici, je vous l’amène dehors, afin que vous sachiez que je ne trouve en lui aucun crime.
5 Jésus sortit donc, portant la couronne d’épines et le manteau de pourpre. Et Pilate leur dit: Voici l’homme.
6 Lorsque les principaux sacrificateurs et les huissiers le virent, ils s’écrièrent: Crucifie! crucifie! Pilate leur dit: Prenez-le vous-mêmes, et crucifiez-le; car moi, je ne trouve point de crime en lui.
7 Les Juifs lui répondirent: Nous avons une loi; et, selon notre loi, il doit mourir, parce qu’il s’est fait Fils de Dieu.
8 Quand Pilate entendit cette parole, sa frayeur augmenta.
9 Il rentra dans le prétoire, et il dit à Jésus: D’où es-tu? Mais Jésus ne lui donna point de réponse.
10 Pilate lui dit: Est-ce à moi que tu ne parles pas? Ne sais-tu pas que j’ai le pouvoir de te crucifier, et que j’ai le pouvoir de te relâcher?
11 Jésus répondit: Tu n’aurais sur moi aucun pouvoir, s’il ne t’avait été donné d’en haut. C’est pourquoi celui qui me livre à toi commet un plus grand péché.
12 Dès ce moment, Pilate cherchait à le relâcher. Mais les Juifs criaient: Si tu le relâches, tu n’es pas ami de César. Quiconque se fait roi se déclare contre César.
13 Pilate, ayant entendu ces paroles, amena Jésus dehors; et il s’assit sur le tribunal, au lieu appelé le Pavé, et en hébreu Gabbatha.
14 C’était la préparation de la Pâque, et environ la sixième heure. Pilate dit aux Juifs: Voici votre roi.
15 Mais ils s’écrièrent: Ote, ôte, crucifie-le! Pilate leur dit: Crucifierai-je votre roi? Les principaux sacrificateurs répondirent: Nous n’avons de roi que César.
16 Alors il le leur livra pour être crucifié. Ils prirent donc Jésus, et l’emmenèrent.
17 Jésus, portant sa croix, arriva au lieu du crâne, qui se nomme en hébreu Golgotha.
18 C’est là qu’il fut crucifié, et deux autres avec lui, un de chaque côté, et Jésus au milieu.
19 Pilate fit une inscription, qu’il plaça sur la croix, et qui était ainsi conçue: Jésus de Nazareth, roi des Juifs.
20 Beaucoup de Juifs lurent cette inscription, parce que le lieu où Jésus fut crucifié était près de la ville: elle était en hébreu, en grec et en latin.
21 Les principaux sacrificateurs des Juifs dirent à Pilate: N’écris pas: Roi des Juifs. Mais écris qu’il a dit: Je suis roi des Juifs.
22 Pilate répondit: Ce que j’ai écrit, je l’ai écrit.
23 Les soldats, après avoir crucifié Jésus, prirent ses vêtements, et ils en firent quatre parts, une part pour chaque soldat. Ils prirent aussi sa tunique, qui était sans couture, d’un seul tissu depuis le haut jusqu’en bas. Et ils dirent entre eux:
24 Ne la déchirons pas, mais tirons au sort à qui elle sera. Cela arriva afin que s’accomplît cette parole de l’Écriture: Ils se sont partagé mes vêtements, Et ils ont tiré au sort ma tunique. Voilà ce que firent les soldats.
25 Près de la croix de Jésus se tenaient sa mère et la soeur de sa mère, Marie, femme de Clopas, et Marie de Magdala.
26 Jésus, voyant sa mère, et auprès d’elle le disciple qu’il aimait, dit à sa mère: Femme, voilà ton fils.
27 Puis il dit au disciple: Voilà ta mère. Et, dès ce moment, le disciple la prit chez lui.
28 Après cela, Jésus, qui savait que tout était déjà consommé, dit, afin que l’Écriture fût accomplie: J’ai soif.
29 Il y avait là un vase plein de vinaigre. Les soldats en remplirent une éponge, et, l’ayant fixée à une branche d’hysope, ils l’approchèrent de sa bouche.
30 Quand Jésus eut pris le vinaigre, il dit: Tout est accompli. Et, baissant la tête, il rendit l’esprit.
31 Dans la crainte que les corps ne restassent sur la croix pendant le sabbat, -car c’était la préparation, et ce jour de sabbat était un grand jour, -les Juifs demandèrent à Pilate qu’on rompît les jambes aux crucifiés, et qu’on les enlevât.
32 Les soldats vinrent donc, et ils rompirent les jambes au premier, puis à l’autre qui avait été crucifié avec lui.
33 S’étant approchés de Jésus, et le voyant déjà mort, ils ne lui rompirent pas les jambes;
34 mais un des soldats lui perça le côté avec une lance, et aussitôt il sortit du sang et de l’eau.
35 Celui qui l’a vu en a rendu témoignage, et son témoignage est vrai; et il sait qu’il dit vrai, afin que vous croyiez aussi.
36 Ces choses sont arrivées, afin que l’Écriture fût accomplie: Aucun de ses os ne sera brisé.
37 Et ailleurs l’Écriture dit encore: Ils verront celui qu’ils ont percé.
38 Après cela, Joseph d’Arimathée, qui était disciple de Jésus, mais en secret par crainte des Juifs, demanda à Pilate la permission de prendre le corps de Jésus. Et Pilate le permit. Il vint donc, et prit le corps de Jésus.
39 Nicodème, qui auparavant était allé de nuit vers Jésus, vint aussi, apportant un mélange d’environ cent livres de myrrhe et d’aloès.
40 Ils prirent donc le corps de Jésus, et l’enveloppèrent de bandes, avec les aromates, comme c’est la coutume d’ensevelir chez les Juifs.
41 Or, il y avait un jardin dans le lieu où Jésus avait été crucifié, et dans le jardin un sépulcre neuf, où personne encore n’avait été mis.
42 Ce fut là qu’ils déposèrent Jésus, à cause de la préparation des Juifs, parce que le sépulcre était proche.

1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,
3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!
6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him.
7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God.
8 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid;
9 And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.
10 Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee?
11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin.
12 And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar’s friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.
13 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.
14 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King!
15 But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.
16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away.
17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
19 And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was Jesus Of Nazareth The King Of The Jews.
20 This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.
21 Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.
22 Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.
23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.
25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son!
27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.
30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him.
33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.
36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.
37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.
38 And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
39 And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
42 There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
