1 Pòl fikse je l’ sou manm Gran Konsèy yo, li di: Frè m’ yo, depi tout tan mwen toujou viv san repwòch devan Bondye jouk jounen jòdi a.
2 Ananyas, granprèt la, bay moun ki toupre Pòl yo lòd pou yo ba l’ yon souflèt.
3 Lè sa a Pòl di li: Ou pòtre yon miray blanchi ak lacho! Se Bondye ki va frape ou. Ou chita la pou jije m’ dapre Lalwa Bondye a. Men, se ou menm k’ap dezobeyi Lalwa Bondye a lè ou bay lòd frape m’ lan.
4 Moun ki te toupre Pòl yo di li: Apa w’ap joure granprèt Bondye a?
5 Pòl reponn: Eskize m’, frè m’. Mwen pa t’ konnen se granprèt msye te ye. Paske, men sa yo di nan Liv la: Piga ou pale chèf pèp ou a mal.
6 Pòl konnen te gen sadiseyen yon bò ak farizyen yon lòt bò nan Gran Konsèy la. Se poutèt sa li pran pale byen fò devan yo, li di: Frè m’ yo, se yon farizyen mwen ye, pitit pitit farizyen. Se paske mwen gen espwa mò yo gen pou yo leve vivan ankò ki fè yo rele m’ an jijman devan nou.
7 Lè l’ di sa, farizyen yo pran diskite ak sadiseyen yo; asanble a fè de kan.
8 (Sadiseyen yo t’ap di moun mouri pa leve, pa gen zanj, pa gen lespri. Farizyen yo, bò pa yo, te kwè nan tou sa.)
9 Moun yo t’ap rele pi fò toujou. Kèk dirèktè lalwa, ki te patizan farizyen yo, leve kanpe, yo antre nan yon diskisyon byen cho, yo t’ap di: Nou pa jwenn anyen ki mal nan nonm sa a. Se dwe yon zanj Bondye osinon yon lespri ki pale avè li.
10 Diskisyon an te vin sitèlman cho kòmandan an te pè pou yo pa t’ dechèpiye Pòl. Li bay sòlda yo lòd desann nan asanble a, al wete Pòl nan mitan yo, mennen l’ tounen nan kazèn lan.
11 Jou lannwit sa a, Pòl wè Seyè a ki di li: Kouraj! Menm jan ou kanpe bay verite a pou mwen isit la lavil Jerizalèm, se konsa tou ou gen pou ou al kanpe bay verite a pou mwen lavil Wòm.
12 Nan denmen maten, jwif yo fè yon konplo. Yo sèmante sou tèt yo yo p’ap mete anyen nan bouch yo toutotan yo pa touye Pòl.
13 Te gen karant moun pou pi piti nan konplo a.
14 Y’ al jwenn chèf prèt yo ak chèf fanmi yo, yo di yo: Nou sèmante sou tèt nou, nou p’ap manje anyen toutotan nou pa touye Pòl.
15 Koulye a, nou menm ansanm ak tout Gran Konsèy la, mande kòmandan an pou l’ mennen Pòl ban nou, tankou si nou ta renmen egzaminen ka li a pi byen. Nou menm, bò pa nou, nou tou pare pou n’ touye l’ anvan l’ gen tan rive isit.
16 Men, pitit gason sè Pòl la pran nouvèl konplo a. li al nan kazèn lan, li antre, li avèti Pòl.
17 Pòl rele yonn nan ofisye yo, li di li: Mennen jenn gason sa a bò kot kòmandan an: li gen kichòy pou l’ di li.
18 Ofisye a pran jenn gason an avè l’, li mennen l’ bay kòmandan an, li di: Prizonye yo rele Pòl la rele m’, li mande m’ pou mennen jenn gason sa a ba ou. Li bezwen di ou kichòy.
19 Kòmandan an pran men jenn gason an, li mennen l’ sou kote, li mande li: Kisa ou gen pou di mwen?
20 Li reponn: Jwif yo ranje yon konplo. Y’ap mande ou mennen Pòl denmen devan Gran Konsèy la. Y’ap di ou yo ta renmen egzaminen ka msye pi byen.
21 Pa koute yo. Gen karant moun pou pi piti ki pare pou yo pran li. Yo sèmante sou lavi yo, yo p’ap mete anyen nan bouch yo toutotan yo pa touye li. Koulye a yo fin pare nèt, se respons ou ase y’ap tann.
22 Kòmandan an di l’ konsa: Pa kite pesonn konnen ou te vin di m’ sa. Epi li voye jenn gason an al fè wout li.
23 Apre sa, kòmandan an rele de nan ofisye l’ yo, li di yo: Sanble desan (200) sòlda, swasanndis kavalye ak desan (200) zòm ame ak pikèt. Se pou nou tout pare pou n’ pati pou Sezare aswè a, vè nevè.
24 Pare yon chwal pou Pòl tou. Mennen l’ ale bay gouvènè Feliks an byen, san okenn danje, san okenn malè.
25 Epi li ekri lèt sa a:
26 Klòd Lizyas voye bonjou ak tout respe l’ pou chèf li, gouvènè Feliks.
27 Jwif yo te mete men sou nonm sa a, yo tapral touye l’ lè m’ vin konnen se yon sitwayen women li ye. Lè sa a, mwen rive avèk sòlda m’ yo, mwen delivre li.
28 Mwen mennen l’ devan Gran Konsèy jwif yo, paske mwen te vle konnen kisa jwif yo t’ap di sou li konsa.
29 Mwen wè li pa t’ fè anyen ki pou ta fè yo touye l’ ni pou yo mete l’ nan prizon. Yo t’ap akize l’ dèske li fè yon bann bagay ki gen rapò ak Lalwa yo a.
30 Lè m’ vin konnen jwif yo t’ap fè konplo pou touye l’, mwen pran desizyon voye l’ ba ou. Epi mwen mande moun ki t’ap akize l’ yo pou yo vin pote plent pou li devan ou.
31 Sòlda yo fè tou sa Lizyas te ba yo lòd fè: yo pran Pòl, yo mennen li jouk Antipatris lannwit la menm.
32 Nan denmen, sòlda ki t’ap mache apye yo tounen nan kazèn lan, yo kite kavalye yo fè rès vwayaj la avèk Pòl.
33 Rive yo rive Sezare, kavalye yo renmèt gouvènè a lèt la, epi yo renmèt Pòl nan men li.
34 Gouvènè a li lèt la, li mande Pòl moun ki pwovens li ye. Lè l’ vin konnen se moun Silisi li ye, li di li:
35 Lè moun k’ap akize ou yo va vini, m’a tande sa ou gen pou di. Epi li bay lòd pou yo mete Pòl sou bon gad nan gwo palè Ewòd la.

Actes 23
1 Paul, les regards fixés sur le sanhédrin, dit: Hommes frères, c’est en toute bonne conscience que je me suis conduit jusqu’à ce jour devant Dieu…
2 Le souverain sacrificateur Ananias ordonna à ceux qui étaient près de lui de le frapper sur la bouche.
3 Alors Paul lui dit: Dieu te frappera, muraille blanchie! Tu es assis pour me juger selon la loi, et tu violes la loi en ordonnant qu’on me frappe!
4 Ceux qui étaient près de lui dirent: Tu insultes le souverain sacrificateur de Dieu!
5 Et Paul dit: Je ne savais pas, frères, que ce fût le souverain sacrificateur; car il est écrit: Tu ne parleras pas mal du chef de ton peuple.
6 Paul, sachant qu’une partie de l’assemblée était composée de sadducéens et l’autre de pharisiens, s’écria dans le sanhédrin: Hommes frères, je suis pharisien, fils de pharisien; c’est à cause de l’espérance et de la résurrection des morts que je suis mis en jugement.
7 Quand il eut dit cela, il s’éleva une discussion entre les pharisiens et les sadducéens, et l’assemblée se divisa.
8 Car les sadducéens disent qu’il n’y a point de résurrection, et qu’il n’existe ni ange ni esprit, tandis que les pharisiens affirment les deux choses.
9 Il y eut une grande clameur, et quelques scribes du parti des pharisiens, s’étant levés, engagèrent un vif débat, et dirent: Nous ne trouvons aucun mal en cet homme; peut-être un esprit ou un ange lui a-t-il parlé.
10 Comme la discorde allait croissant, le tribun craignant que Paul ne fût mis en pièces par ces gens, fit descendre les soldats pour l’enlever du milieu d’eux et le conduire à la forteresse.
11 La nuit suivante, le Seigneur apparut à Paul, et dit: Prends courage; car, de même que tu as rendu témoignage de moi dans Jérusalem, il faut aussi que tu rendes témoignage dans Rome.
12 Quand le jour fut venu, les Juifs formèrent un complot, et firent des imprécations contre eux-mêmes, en disant qu’ils s’abstiendraient de manger et de boire jusqu’à ce qu’ils eussent tué Paul.
13 Ceux qui formèrent ce complot étaient plus de quarante,
14 et ils allèrent trouver les principaux sacrificateurs et les anciens, auxquels ils dirent: Nous nous sommes engagés, avec des imprécations contre nous-mêmes, à ne rien manger jusqu’à ce que nous ayons tué Paul.
15 Vous donc, maintenant, adressez-vous avec le sanhédrin au tribun, pour qu’il l’amène devant vous, comme si vous vouliez examiner sa cause plus exactement; et nous, avant qu’il approche, nous sommes prêts à le tuer.
16 Le fils de la soeur de Paul, ayant eu connaissance du guet-apens, alla dans la forteresse en informer Paul.
17 Paul appela l’un des centeniers, et dit: Mène ce jeune homme vers le tribun, car il a quelque chose à lui rapporter.
18 Le centenier prit le jeune homme avec lui, le conduisit vers le tribun, et dit: Le prisonnier Paul m’a appelé, et il m’a prié de t’amener ce jeune homme, qui a quelque chose à te dire.
19 Le tribun, prenant le jeune homme par la main, et se retirant à l’écart, lui demanda: Qu’as-tu à m’annoncer?
20 Il répondit: Les Juifs sont convenus de te prier d’amener Paul demain devant le sanhédrin, comme si tu devais t’enquérir de lui plus exactement.
21 Ne les écoute pas, car plus de quarante d’entre eux lui dressent un guet-apens, et se sont engagés, avec des imprécations contre eux-mêmes, à ne rien manger ni boire jusqu’à ce qu’ils l’aient tué; maintenant ils sont prêts, et n’attendent que ton consentement.
22 Le tribun renvoya le jeune homme, après lui avoir recommandé de ne parler à personne de ce rapport qu’il lui avait fait.
23 Ensuite il appela deux des centeniers, et dit: Tenez prêts, dès la troisième heure de la nuit, deux cents soldats, soixante-dix cavaliers et deux cents archers, pour aller jusqu’à Césarée.
24 Qu’il y ait aussi des montures pour Paul, afin qu’on le mène sain et sauf au gouverneur Félix.
25 Il écrivit une lettre ainsi conçue:
26 Claude Lysias au très excellent gouverneur Félix, salut!
27 Cet homme, dont les Juifs s’étaient saisis, allait être tué par eux, lorsque je survins avec des soldats et le leur enlevai, ayant appris qu’il était Romain.
28 Voulant connaître le motif pour lequel ils l’accusaient, je l’amenai devant leur sanhédrin.
29 J’ai trouvé qu’il était accusé au sujet de questions relatives à leur loi, mais qu’il n’avait commis aucun crime qui mérite la mort ou la prison.
30 Informé que les Juifs lui dressaient des embûches, je te l’ai aussitôt envoyé, en faisant savoir à ses accusateurs qu’ils eussent à s’adresser eux-mêmes à toi. Adieu.
31 Les soldats, selon l’ordre qu’ils avaient reçu, prirent Paul, et le conduisirent pendant la nuit jusqu’à Antipatris.
32 Le lendemain, laissant les cavaliers poursuivre la route avec lui, ils retournèrent à la forteresse.
33 Arrivés à Césarée, les cavaliers remirent la lettre au gouverneur, et lui présentèrent Paul.
34 Le gouverneur, après avoir lu la lettre, demanda de quelle province était Paul. Ayant appris qu’il était de la Cilicie:
35 Je t’entendrai, dit-il, quand tes accusateurs seront venus. Et il ordonna qu’on le gardât dans le prétoire d’Hérode.

Acts 23
1 And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day.
2 And the high priest Ananias commanded them that stood by him to smite him on the mouth.
3 Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, thou whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?
4 And they that stood by said, Revilest thou God’s high priest?
5 Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.
6 But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.
7 And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided.
8 For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.
9 And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees’ part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.
10 And when there arose a great dissension, the chief captain, fearing lest Paul should have been pulled in pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down, and to take him by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle.
11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.
12 And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.
13 And they were more than forty which had made this conspiracy.
14 And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul.
15 Now therefore ye with the council signify to the chief captain that he bring him down unto you to morrow, as though ye would enquire something more perfectly concerning him: and we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him.
16 And when Paul’s sister’s son heard of their lying in wait, he went and entered into the castle, and told Paul.
17 Then Paul called one of the centurions unto him, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief captain: for he hath a certain thing to tell him.
18 So he took him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto him, and prayed me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say unto thee.
19 Then the chief captain took him by the hand, and went with him aside privately, and asked him, What is that thou hast to tell me?
20 And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire thee that thou wouldest bring down Paul to morrow into the council, as though they would enquire somewhat of him more perfectly.
21 But do not thou yield unto them: for there lie in wait for him of them more than forty men, which have bound themselves with an oath, that they will neither eat nor drink till they have killed him: and now are they ready, looking for a promise from thee.
22 So the chief captain then let the young man depart, and charged him, See thou tell no man that thou hast shewed these things to me.
23 And he called unto him two centurions, saying, Make ready two hundred soldiers to go to Caesarea, and horsemen threescore and ten, and spearmen two hundred, at the third hour of the night;
24 And provide them beasts, that they may set Paul on, and bring him safe unto Felix the governor.
25 And he wrote a letter after this manner:
26 Claudius Lysias unto the most excellent governor Felix sendeth greeting.
27 This man was taken of the Jews, and should have been killed of them: then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood that he was a Roman.
28 And when I would have known the cause wherefore they accused him, I brought him forth into their council:
29 Whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of bonds.
30 And when it was told me how that the Jews laid wait for the man, I sent straightway to thee, and gave commandment to his accusers also to say before thee what they had against him. Farewell.
31 Then the soldiers, as it was commanded them, took Paul, and brought him by night to Antipatris.
32 On the morrow they left the horsemen to go with him, and returned to the castle:
33 Who, when they came to Caesarea and delivered the epistle to the governor, presented Paul also before him.
34 And when the governor had read the letter, he asked of what province he was. And when he understood that he was of Cilicia;
35 I will hear thee, said he, when thine accusers are also come. And he commanded him to be kept in Herod’s judgment hall.
