Jeremi 40
1 Seyè a pale ak Jeremi ankò apre Neboucharadan, chèf lagad la, te lage l’ lavil Rama. Yo te fè Jeremi prizonye ansanm ak tout moun lavil Jerizalèm ak moun peyi Jida yo. Yo te mete l’ nan chenn ansanm ak tout moun yo t’ap depòte lavil Babilòn.
2 Chèf lagad la pran Jeremi sou kote, li di l’ konsa: -Seyè a, Bondye ou la, te di li t’ap fè malè sa a tonbe sou peyi a.
3 Koulye a sa li te di li t’ap fè a, li fè l’. Sa ki lakòz? Se paske pèp ou a te antò devan Seyè a, yo pa t’ vle koute l’.
4 Atòkile, m’ap wete chenn ki nan ponyèt ou yo, m’ap lage ou. Si ou vle vini ak mwen lavil Babilòn, ou mèt vini, m’a pran swen ou. Men, si ou pa vle tou, ou pa blije vini. Tout peyi a devan ou, ou mèt ale kote ou vle.
5 Lè Neboucharadan wè Jeremi pa reponn, li di l’ ankò: -Tounen al jwenn Gedalya, pitit Akikam, pitit pitit Chafan, lavil Mispa. Se li menm wa Babilòn lan mete pou gouvènen tout lavil nan peyi Jida yo. W’a rete avè l’ nan mitan pèp la. Ou gen dwa tou ale kote ou vle nan peyi a. Lèfini, li bay Jeremi yon kado ansanm ak kèk pwovizyon pou l’ manje, epi li voye l’ ale.
6 Jeremi al jwenn Gedalya, pitit Akikam lan, lavil Mispa. Li rete la avè l’ ansanm ak moun yo te kite nan peyi a.
7 Te gen yon rès lame peyi Jida a ki te andeyò lavil Jerizalèm. Chèf yo ansanm ak sòlda yo vin konnen wa Babilòn lan te mete Gedalya, pitit Akikam lan, chèf sou tout peyi a. Wa a te kite tout moun yo pa t’ depòte yo sou kont li, tout moun pòv yo, fanm kou gason, granmoun kou timoun.
8 Se konsa, Izmayèl, pitit Netanya, Jokanan ak Jonatan, pitit Karejak, Seraya, pitit Tannoumèt, pitit Efayi yo, moun lavil Netofa, ansanm ak Jezanya, pitit Makat, yo moute lavil Mispa, y’ al jwenn Gedalya ansanm ak tout sòlda yo.
9 Gedalya di yo konsa: -Mwen ban nou pawòl mwen, nou pa bezwen pè soumèt nou devan moun Babilòn yo. Rete nan peyi a. Sèvi wa Babilòn lan. Tout bagay va mache byen pou nou.
10 Mwen menm, m’ap rete isit lavil Mispa. Konsa, m’a pale pou nou ak moun Babilòn yo lè y’a vini. Nou menm, nou mèt al fè rekòt rezen, lòt fwi ak lwil. Mete yo nan depo. Nou mèt rete nan lavil kote n’a ye yo.
11 Konsa tou, tout jwif ki te nan peyi Moab, nan peyi Amon, nan peyi Edon ak nan tout lòt peyi vin konnen wa Babilòn lan te penmèt kèk jwif rete nan peyi Jida, li te mete Gedalya, pitit Akikam, pitit pitit Chafan, chèf sou yo tout.
12 Yo kite peyi kote yo te gaye yo, yo tounen nan peyi Jida, yo vin jwenn Gedalya lavil Mispa. Yo fè yon bèl rekòt rezen ak lòt fwi an kantite.
13 Yon jou, Jokanan, pitit Karejak, ansanm ak tout lòt chèf lame ki te andeyò yo vin jwenn Gedalya lavil Mispa.
14 Yo di l’ konsa: -Ou pa konnen Baalis, wa peyi Amon an, voye Izmayèl, pitit Netanya a, pou touye ou? Men Gedalya pa t’ vle kwè yo.
15 Lè sa a, Jokanan al jwenn Gedalya an kachèt lavil Mispa, li di l’ konsa: -Eske ou vle m’ al touye Izmayèl pou ou? Pesonn p’ap konn anyen. Poukisa pou ou kite l’ ansasinen ou? Si li touye ou, sa pral lakòz tout jwif ki te sanble bò kote ou yo pral gaye ankò. Sa pral lakòz ti ponyen moun ki rete nan peyi Jida a rive disparèt.
16 Men, Gedalya reponn: -Pa fè sa, monchè! Sa w’ap di sou Izmayèl la pa vre!

Jérémie 40
1 La parole qui fut adressée à Jérémie de la part de l’Éternel, après que Nebuzaradan, chef des gardes, l’eut envoyé de Rama. Quand il le fit chercher, Jérémie était lié de chaînes parmi tous les captifs de Jérusalem et de Juda qu’on emmenait à Babylone.
2 Le chef des gardes envoya chercher Jérémie, et lui dit: L’Éternel, ton Dieu, a annoncé ces malheurs contre ce lieu;
3 l’Éternel a fait venir et a exécuté ce qu’il avait dit, et ces choses vous sont arrivées parce que vous avez péché contre l’Éternel et que vous n’avez pas écouté sa voix.
4 Maintenant voici, je te délivre aujourd’hui des chaînes que tu as aux mains; si tu veux venir avec moi à Babylone, viens, j’aurai soin de toi; si cela te déplaît de venir avec moi à Babylone, ne viens pas; regarde, tout le pays est devant toi, va où il te semblera bon et convenable d’aller.
5 Et comme il tardait à répondre: Retourne, ajouta-t-il, vers Guedalia, fils d’Achikam, fils de Schaphan, que le roi de Babylone a établi sur les villes de Juda, et reste avec lui parmi le peuple; ou bien, va partout où il te conviendra d’aller. Le chef des gardes lui donna des vivres et des présents, et le congédia.
6 Jérémie alla vers Guedalia, fils d’Achikam, à Mitspa, et il resta avec lui parmi le peuple qui était demeuré dans le pays.
7 Lorsque tous les chefs des troupes qui étaient dans les campagnes eurent appris, eux et leurs hommes, que le roi de Babylone avait établi gouverneur du pays Guedalia, fils d’Achikam, et qu’il lui avait confié les hommes, les femmes, les enfants, et ceux des pauvres du pays qu’on n’avait pas emmenés captifs à Babylone,
8 ils se rendirent auprès de Guedalia à Mitspa, savoir Ismaël, fils de Nethania, Jochanan et Jonathan, fils de Karéach, Seraja, fils de Thanhumeth, les fils d’Éphaï de Nethopha, et Jezania, fils du Maacatite, eux et leurs hommes.
9 Guedalia, fils d’Achikam, fils de Schaphan, leur jura, à eux et à leurs hommes, en disant: Ne craignez pas de servir les Chaldéens; demeurez dans le pays, servez le roi de Babylone, et vous vous en trouverez bien.
10 Voici, je reste à Mitspa, pour être présent devant les Chaldéens qui viendront vers nous; et vous, faites la récolte du vin, des fruits d’été et de l’huile, mettez-les dans vos vases, et demeurez dans vos villes que vous occupez.
11 Tous les Juifs qui étaient au pays de Moab, chez les Ammonites, au pays d’Édom, et dans tous les pays, apprirent que le roi de Babylone avait laissé un reste dans Juda, et qu’il leur avait donné pour gouverneur Guedalia, fils d’Achikam, fils de Schaphan.
12 Et tous les Juifs revinrent de tous les lieux où ils étaient dispersés, ils se rendirent dans le pays de Juda vers Guedalia à Mitspa, et ils firent une abondante récolte de vin et de fruits d’été.
13 Jochanan, fils de Karéach, et tous les chefs des troupes qui étaient dans les campagnes, vinrent auprès de Guedalia à Mitspa,
14 et lui dirent: Sais-tu que Baalis, roi des Ammonites, a chargé Ismaël, fils de Nethania, de t’ôter la vie? Mais Guedalia, fils d’Achikam, ne les crut point.
15 Et Jochanan, fils de Karéach, dit secrètement à Guedalia à Mitspa: Permets que j’aille tuer Ismaël, fils de Nethania. Personne ne le saura. Pourquoi t’ôterait-il la vie? pourquoi tous ceux de Juda rassemblés auprès de toi se disperseraient-ils, et le reste de Juda périrait-il?
16 Guedalia, fils d’Achikam, répondit à Jochanan, fils de Karéach: Ne fais pas cela; car ce que tu dis sur Ismaël est faux.

Jeremiah 40
1The word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord, after that Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard had let him go from Ramah, when he had taken him being bound in chains among all that were carried away captive of Jerusalem and Judah, which were carried away captive unto Babylon.
2 And the captain of the guard took Jeremiah, and said unto him, The Lord thy God hath pronounced this evil upon this place.
3 Now the Lord hath brought it, and done according as he hath said: because ye have sinned against the Lord, and have not obeyed his voice, therefore this thing is come upon you.
4 And now, behold, I loose thee this day from the chains which were upon thine hand. If it seem good unto thee to come with me into Babylon, come; and I will look well unto thee: but if it seem ill unto thee to come with me into Babylon, forbear: behold, all the land is before thee: whither it seemeth good and convenient for thee to go, thither go.
5 Now while he was not yet gone back, he said, Go back also to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan, whom the king of Babylon hath made governor over the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people: or go wheresoever it seemeth convenient unto thee to go. So the captain of the guard gave him victuals and a reward, and let him go.
6 Then went Jeremiah unto Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and dwelt with him among the people that were left in the land.
7 Now when all the captains of the forces which were in the fields, even they and their men, heard that the king of Babylon had made Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land, and had committed unto him men, and women, and children, and of the poor of the land, of them that were not carried away captive to Babylon;
8 Then they came to Gedaliah to Mizpah, even Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and Johanan and Jonathan the sons of Kareah, and Seraiah the son of Tanhumeth, and the sons of Ephai the Netophathite, and Jezaniah the son of a Maachathite, they and their men.
9 And Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan sware unto them and to their men, saying, Fear not to serve the Chaldeans: dwell in the land, and serve the king of Babylon, and it shall be well with you.
10 As for me, behold, I will dwell at Mizpah, to serve the Chaldeans, which will come unto us: but ye, gather ye wine, and summer fruits, and oil, and put them in your vessels, and dwell in your cities that ye have taken.
11 Likewise when all the Jews that were in Moab, and among the Ammonites, and in Edom, and that were in all the countries, heard that the king of Babylon had left a remnant of Judah, and that he had set over them Gedaliah the son of Ahikam the son of Shaphan;
12 Even all the Jews returned out of all places whither they were driven, and came to the land of Judah, to Gedaliah, unto Mizpah, and gathered wine and summer fruits very much.
13 Moreover Johanan the son of Kareah, and all the captains of the forces that were in the fields, came to Gedaliah to Mizpah,
14 And said unto him, Dost thou certainly know that Baalis the king of the Ammonites hath sent Ishmael the son of Nethaniah to slay thee? But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam believed them not.
15 Then Johanan the son of Kareah spake to Gedaliah in Mizpah secretly saying, Let me go, I pray thee, and I will slay Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, and no man shall know it: wherefore should he slay thee, that all the Jews which are gathered unto thee should be scattered, and the remnant in Judah perish?
16 But Gedaliah the son of Ahikam said unto Johanan the son of Kareah, Thou shalt not do this thing: for thou speakest falsely of Ishmael.
