Egzòd 17

1 Tout moun pèp Izrayèl yo pati, yo kite dezè Sin lan, dapre lòd Seyè a te ba yo. Yo fè wout la moso pa moso, jouk yo rive Refidim kote yo moute tant yo. Men, pa t’ gen dlo la pou pèp la te bwè.
2 Yo leve fè kont ak Moyiz. Yo di l’: -Ban nou dlo pou nou bwè! Moyiz reponn yo: -Poukisa n’ap chache m’ kont konsa? Pouki n’ap sonde Seyè a konsa?
3 Men, pèp la te swaf dlo anpil, yo t’ap bougonnen sou do Moyiz. Yo di l’: -Poukisa ou fè nou soti kite peyi Lejip la? Gen lè se pou te fè nou vin mouri swaf dlo isit la, avèk pitit nou yo ansanm ak tout bèt nou yo?
4 Moyiz menm lapriyè nan pye Bondye. Li di l’ konsa: -Kisa pou m’ fè ak moun sa yo? Yo san lè touye m’ ak kout ròch!
5 Seyè a di Moyiz: -Pran kèk chèf fanmi pèp Izrayèl la avèk ou, pase devan pèp la. Kenbe baton ou te sèvi pou frape gwo la rivyè Nil lan nan men ou. Epi mache.
6 Mwen menm, m’ap kanpe laba a, dwat devan ou, sou tèt gwo ròch Orèb la. W’a frape ròch la, dlo va soti ladan l’. Pèp la va bwè. Se sa menm Moyiz te fè devan chèf fanmi pèp Izrayèl la.
7 Yo rele kote sa a Masa ak Meriba, paske pèp Izrayèl la t’ap chache kont, yo t’ap sonde Seyè a lè yo te mande: Eske Seyè a nan mitan nou, wi ou non?
8  Antan pèp Izrayèl la Refidim, moun Amalèk yo vin pou goumen ak yo.
9 Moyiz di Jozye konsa: -Chwazi kèk gason pou nou. Denmen w’a soti al goumen ak moun Amalèk yo. Mwen menm, m’a moute sou tèt ti mòn lan avèk baton Bondye te ban mwen an nan men mwen.
10 Jozye fè tou sa Moyiz te di l’ fè. Li soti al goumen ak moun Amalèk yo. Moyiz menm moute sou tèt ti mòn lan ansanm ak Arawon ak Our.
11 Tout tan Moyiz te kenbe men l’ yo leve anlè, se moun Izrayèl yo ki te pi fò. Men, kou Moyiz bese men l’, se moun Amalèk yo ki te pi fò.
12 Rive yon lè Moyiz te bouke, de bra l’ t’ap fè l’ mal. Arawon ak Our pran yon ròch, yo mete l’ deyè Moyiz, yo fè Moyiz chita sou li. Yo chak pran yon bra Moyiz, yo kenbe yo anlè. Yo kenbe yo konsa jouk solèy kouche.
13 Jozye menm te bat Amalèk ak moun li yo byen bat, li touye yo anba kout nepe.
14 Apre sa, Seyè a di Moyiz: -Ekri sa nan liv rejis la pou moun yo pa janm bliye batay sa a. W’a di Jozye konsa m’ap efase non Amalèk sou latè pou yo pa janm chonje l’ ankò.
15 Moyiz bati yon lòtèl, li rele l’: Seyè a se drapo m’.
16 Apre sa li di: -Men mwen leve men m’ devan fotèy Seyè a, Seyè a p’ap janm sispann goumen ak moun Amalèk yo.

Exode 17

1 Toute l’assemblée des enfants d’Israël partit du désert de Sin, selon les marches que l’Éternel leur avait ordonnées; et ils campèrent à Rephidim, où le peuple ne trouva point d’eau à boire.
2 Alors le peuple chercha querelle à Moïse. Ils dirent: Donnez-nous de l’eau à boire. Moïse leur répondit: Pourquoi me cherchez-vous querelle? Pourquoi tentez-vous l’Éternel?
3 Le peuple était là, pressé par la soif, et murmurait contre Moïse. Il disait: Pourquoi nous as-tu fait monter hors d’Égypte, pour me faire mourir de soif avec mes enfants et mes troupeaux?
4 Moïse cria à l’Éternel, en disant: Que ferai-je à ce peuple? Encore un peu, et ils me lapideront.
5 L’Éternel dit à Moïse: Passe devant le peuple, et prends avec toi des anciens d’Israël; prends aussi dans ta main ta verge avec laquelle tu as frappé le fleuve, et marche!
6 Voici, je me tiendrai devant toi sur le rocher d’Horeb; tu frapperas le rocher, et il en sortira de l’eau, et le peuple boira. Et Moïse fit ainsi, aux yeux des anciens d’Israël.
7 Il donna à ce lieu le nom de Massa et Meriba, parce que les enfants d’Israël avaient contesté, et parce qu’ils avaient tenté l’Éternel, en disant: L’Éternel est-il au milieu de nous, ou n’y est-il pas?
8 Amalek vint combattre Israël à Rephidim.
9 Alors Moïse dit à Josué: Choisis-nous des hommes, sors, et combats Amalek; demain je me tiendrai sur le sommet de la colline, la verge de Dieu dans ma main.
10 Josué fit ce que lui avait dit Moïse, pour combattre Amalek. Et Moïse, Aaron et Hur montèrent au sommet de la colline.
11 Lorsque Moïse élevait sa main, Israël était le plus fort; et lorsqu’il baissait sa main, Amalek était le plus fort.
12 Les mains de Moïse étant fatiguées, ils prirent une pierre qu’ils placèrent sous lui, et il s’assit dessus. Aaron et Hur soutenaient ses mains, l’un d’un côté, l’autre de l’autre; et ses mains restèrent fermes jusqu’au coucher du soleil.
13 Et Josué vainquit Amalek et son peuple, au tranchant de l’épée.
14 L’Éternel dit à Moïse: Écris cela dans le livre, pour que le souvenir s’en conserve, et déclare à Josué que j’effacerai la mémoire d’Amalek de dessous les cieux.
15 Moïse bâtit un autel, et lui donna pour nom: l’Éternel ma bannière.
16 Il dit: Parce que la main a été levée sur le trône de l’Éternel, il y aura guerre de l’Éternel contre Amalek, de génération en génération.

Exodus 17

1 And all the congregation of the children of Israel journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, after their journeys, according to the commandment of the Lord, and pitched in Rephidim: and there was no water for the people to drink.
2 Wherefore the people did chide with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said unto them, Why chide ye with me? wherefore do ye tempt the Lord?
3 And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore is this that thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?
4 And Moses cried unto the Lord, saying, What shall I do unto this people? they be almost ready to stone me.
5 And the Lord said unto Moses, Go on before the people, and take with thee of the elders of Israel; and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand, and go.
6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
7 And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the Lord, saying, Is the Lord among us, or not?
8 Then came Amalek, and fought with Israel in Rephidim.
9 And Moses said unto Joshua, Choose us out men, and go out, fight with Amalek: to morrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in mine hand.
10 So Joshua did as Moses had said to him, and fought with Amalek: and Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
11 And it came to pass, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed: and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.
12 But Moses hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun.
13 And Joshua discomfited Amalek and his people with the edge of the sword.
14 And the Lord said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven.
15 And Moses built an altar, and called the name of it Jehovahnissi:
16 For he said, Because the Lord hath sworn that the Lord will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.
