1 Lè sa a, nou tounen tounen nou nan dezè a, nou pran chemen Lanmè Wouj la pou nou, jan Seyè a te pase nou lòd la. Nou pase yon pakèt tan ap mache moute desann nan mòn peyi Seyi yo.
2 Apre sa, Seyè a pale avè m’, li di m’ konsa:
3 Nou fè kont moute desann nou nan mòn yo. Koulye a, pran direksyon nò pou nou.
4 Bay pèp la lòd sa a: Nou pral pase nan mitan peyi Seyi a, kote pitit pitit Ezaou yo rete a. Moun sa yo se menm ras ak nou yo ye. Y’ap pè nou, men, atansyon!
5 Pa chache yo kont, paske mwen p’ap ban nou ata yon pous tè nan peyi yo a. Se mwen menm ki bay moun fanmi Ezaou yo tout mòn Seyi a nèt pou yo rete.
6 N’a achte manje pou nou manje nan men yo pou lajan nou, n’a mande yo achte ata dlo pou nou bwè.
7 Chonje byen, Seyè a, Bondye nou an, te beni nou nan tou sa n’ap fè. Li te pran swen nou pandan tout tan nou t’ap moute desann nan gwo dezè a. Sa fè karantan depi Seyè a la nan mitan nou, nou pa janm manke anyen.
8 Se konsa nou leve, nou pati, nou kite wout Araba a ki soti lavil Elat ak lavil Etsongebè, nou pase byen lwen peyi kote pitit Ezaou yo rete a, peyi ki pou moun menm ras ak nou yo. Nou vire, nou pran chemen ki mennen nan dezè Moab la.
9 Lè sa a, Seyè a di m’: Pa chache moun Moab yo, moun fanmi Lòt yo, kont. Pa al goumen ak yo paske mwen p’ap ban nou anyen nan peyi ki pou yo a. Se mwen menm ki bay yo lavil A Moab la pou yo rete.
10 (Nan tan lontan, se te emen yo ki te rete nan lavil Ar la. Se te yon ras moun ki te wo anpil tankou moun Anak yo. Yo te anpil, yo te barak gason.
11 Tout lòt moun te rele yo refayim, menm non ak moun Anak yo. Men, se moun Moab yo ki te rele yo emen.
12 Konsa tou, nan tan lontan se orit yo ki te rete nan peyi Edon an. Men moun fanmi Ezaou yo te pran peyi a nan men yo, yo touye tout moun epi yo rete ladan l’ nan plas moun yo, menm jan moun Izrayèl yo te fè pou peyi ki pou yo a, peyi Seyè a te ba yo a.)
13 Aprè sa, Seyè a di ankò: Leve non! Janbe lòt bò ravin Zerèd la. Se konsa nou janbe lòt bò ravin Zerèd la.
14 Nou pran trantwitan pou nou mache soti Kadès Banea jouk nou rive janbe lòt bò ravin Zerèd la. Pandan tout tan sa a, mezi gason ki te gen laj pou fè lagè lè sa a te gen tan mouri, jan Seyè a te di li t’ap fè a.
15 Seyè a te leve dèyè yo nan kan an jouk yo tout te mouri.
16 Lè tout gason ki te gen laj pou fè lagè lè sa a te fin mouri,
17 Seyè a pale avè m’, li di m’ konsa:
18 Jòdi a ou pral pase fwontyè peyi Moab la, ou pral pran chemen lavil Ar la.
19 Ou pral tonbe bab pou bab ak moun Amori yo. Pa chache yo kont. Pa al goumen ak yo paske mwen p’ap ba ou anyen nan peyi Amon an. Se pitit pitit Lòt yo ye; se mwen menm ki ba yo peyi sa a pou yo rete.
20 (Nan tan lontan, dapre sa yo di, peyi sa a, se te peyi refayim yo. Se refayim yo ki te rete ladan l’ anvan. Moun Amon yo te rele yo Zanmzoumim.
21 Yo te bèl wotè tankou moun Anak yo. Yo te anpil, yo te barak gason. Men, Seyè a te touye yo pou moun Amon yo te ka pran peyi a nan men yo, pou yo te ka rete yo menm ladan l’.
22 Se menm bagay Seyè a te fè pou moun fanmi Ezaou yo ki rete nan peyi Seyi a. Li touye orit yo pou moun Ezaou yo te ka pran peyi a nan men yo, pou yo te ka rete yo menm ladan l’.
23 Se menm bagay la ki rive avit yo ki te rete nan tout ti bouk ou jwenn jouk ou rive lavil Gaza: moun Kaftò yo soti zile Krèt, yo touye avit yo epi yo rete nan peyi a nan plas yo.
24 Seyè a di m’ ankò: Leve, ranmase tout zafè nou yo. Pase lòt bò ravin Anon an. Mwen pral lage Siyon, moun peyi Amori ki wa lavil Esbon an, ansanm ak tout peyi li a nan menm nou. Atake l’, konmanse pran peyi a pou nou.
25 Depi jòdi a, m’ap fè tout nasyon ki sou latè pè nou kou chat. Konsa, depi y’a tande yo nonmen non nou, y’a pran tranble, y’a gen yon sèl kè sere k’ap pran yo.
26 Lè sa a, antan nou te nan dezè Kedemòt la, mwen voye kèk mesaje bò kote Siyon, wa lavil Esbon an, pou yo te pale an zanmi avè l’, pou yo te di l’ pou mwen:
27 Mwen fè lide pase nan peyi a. N’ap pase pase nou sou gran chemen an san nou pa vire ni adwat ni agoch.
28 W’a vann nou pou lajan nou manje nou ka bezwen pou n’ manje ansanm ak dlo pou nou bwè. Se pase sèlman n’ap pase nan peyi a san rete,
29 jouk nou rive lòt bò larivyè Jouden an, nan peyi Seyè a, Bondye nou an, ap ban nou an. Se konsa moun fanmi Ezaou yo ki te rete nan peyi Seyi a, ak moun Moab yo ki rete nan lavil Ar la te ban nou pèmisyon pou n’ pase nan peyi yo.
30 Men, Siyon, wa Esbon an, pa t’ dakò pou l’ te kite nou pase nan pèyi l’ la. Seyè a, Bondye nou an, fè l’ kenbe tèt ak nou, li fè l’ refize chanje lide malgre tou sa nou fè, pou l’ sa lage l’ nan men nou ansanm ak tout peyi a, jan sa ye jouk koulye a.
31 Lè sa a, Seyè a di m’ konsa: Gade! Depi koulye a mwen lage Siyon ak tout peyi li a nan men nou. Konmanse anvayi peyi a, pran peyi l’ la pou nou.
32 Siyon mache kontre nou ak tout lame l’ la, li vin mande nou batay bò Jayat.
33 Men, Seyè a, Bondye nou an, lage l’ nan men nou. Nou bat li byen bat, li menm, pitit gason l’ yo ak tout lame l’ yo.
34 Tout lavil yo tonbe nan men nou tou epi nou touye yo nèt pou Bondye nou an tankou yon ofrann. Nou touye tout moun nèt, fanm kou gason, timoun kou granmoun. Nou pa kite yonn chape.
35 Tansèlman, nou pran tout bèt yo pou nou epi nou piye tout lavil nou te pran yo.
36 Depi lavil Awoyè ki anwo bò falèz ki bay sou ravin Anon an ak lavil ki nan fon an, jouk lavil Galarad la, pa t’ gen yon lavil ki te ka kenbe tèt ak nou. Seyè a, Bondye nou an, te lage yo tout nan men nou.
37 Men nou pa t’ pwoche bò peyi moun Amon yo, ni bò zòn larivyè Jabòk la, ni bò lavil ki nan mòn yo, ni bò ankenn kote Seyè a te ban nou lòd pa atake.

Deuteronome 2
1 Nous nous tournâmes, et nous partîmes pour le désert, par le chemin de la mer Rouge, comme l’Éternel me l’avait ordonné; nous suivîmes longtemps les contours de la montagne de Séir.
2 L’Éternel me dit:
3 Vous avez assez suivi les contours de cette montagne. Tournez-vous vers le nord.
4 Donne cet ordre au peuple: Vous allez passer à la frontière de vos frères, les enfants d’Ésaü, qui habitent en Séir. Ils vous craindront; mais soyez bien sur vos gardes.
5 Ne les attaquez pas; car je ne vous donnerai dans leur pays pas même de quoi poser la plante du pied: j’ai donné la montagne de Séir en propriété à Ésaü.
6 Vous achèterez d’eux à prix d’argent la nourriture que vous mangerez, et vous achèterez d’eux à prix d’argent même l’eau que vous boirez.
7 Car l’Éternel, ton Dieu, t’a béni dans tout le travail de tes mains, il a connu ta marche dans ce grand désert. Voilà quarante années que l’Éternel, ton Dieu, est avec toi: tu n’as manqué de rien.
8 Nous passâmes à distance de nos frères, les enfants d’Ésaü, qui habitent en Séir, et à distance du chemin de la plaine, d’Élath et d’Etsjon Guéber, puis nous nous tournâmes, et nous prîmes la direction du désert de Moab.
9 L’Éternel me dit: N’attaque pas Moab, et ne t’engage pas dans un combat avec lui; car je ne te donnerai rien à posséder dans son pays: c’est aux enfants de Lot que j’ai donné Ar en propriété.
10 (Les Émim y habitaient auparavant; c’était un peuple grand, nombreux et de haute taille, comme les Anakim.
11 Ils passaient aussi pour être des Rephaïm, de même que les Anakim; mais les Moabites les appelaient Émim.
12 Séir était habité autrefois par les Horiens; les enfants d’Ésaü les chassèrent, les détruisirent devant eux, et s’établirent à leur place, comme l’a fait Israël dans le pays qu’il possède et que l’Éternel lui a donné.)
13 Maintenant levez-vous, et passez le torrent de Zéred. Nous passâmes le torrent de Zéred.
14 Le temps que durèrent nos marches de Kadès Barnéa au passage du torrent de Zéred fut de trente-huit ans, jusqu’à ce que toute la génération des hommes de guerre eût disparu du milieu du camp, comme l’Éternel le leur avait juré.
15 La main de l’Éternel fut aussi sur eux pour les détruire du milieu du camp, jusqu’à ce qu’ils eussent disparu.
16 Lorsque tous les hommes de guerre eurent disparu par la mort du milieu du peuple,
17 l’Éternel me parla, et dit:
18 Tu passeras aujourd’hui la frontière de Moab, à Ar,
19 et tu approcheras des enfants d’Ammon. Ne les attaque pas, et ne t’engage pas dans un combat avec eux; car je ne te donnerai rien à posséder dans le pays des enfants d’Ammon: c’est aux enfants de Lot que je l’ai donné en propriété.
20 (Ce pays passait aussi pour un pays de Rephaïm; des Rephaïm y habitaient auparavant, et les Ammonites les appelaient Zamzummim:
21 c’était un peuple grand, nombreux et de haute taille, comme les Anakim. L’Éternel les détruisit devant les Ammonites, qui les chassèrent et s’établirent à leur place.
22 C’est ainsi que fit l’Éternel pour les enfants d’Ésaü qui habitent en Séir, quand il détruisit les Horiens devant eux; ils les chassèrent et s’établirent à leur place, jusqu’à ce jour.
23 Les Avviens, qui habitaient dans des villages jusqu’à Gaza, furent détruits par les Caphtorim, sortis de Caphtor, qui s’établirent à leur place.)
24 Levez-vous, partez, et passez le torrent de l’Arnon. Vois, je livre entre tes mains Sihon, roi de Hesbon, l’Amoréen et son pays. Commence la conquête, fais-lui la guerre!
25 Je vais répandre dès aujourd’hui la frayeur et la crainte de toi sur tous les peuples qui sont sous le ciel; et, au bruit de ta renommée, ils trembleront et seront saisis d’angoisse à cause de toi.
26 J’envoyai, du désert de Kedémoth, des messagers à Sihon, roi de Hesbon, avec des paroles de paix. Je lui fis dire:
27 Laisse-moi passer par ton pays; je suivrai la grande route, sans m’écarter ni à droite ni à gauche.
28 Tu me vendras à prix d’argent la nourriture que je mangerai, et tu me donneras à prix d’argent l’eau que je boirai; je ne ferai que passer avec mes pieds.
29 C’est ce que m’ont accordé les enfants d’Ésaü qui habitent en Séir, et les Moabites qui demeurent à Ar. Accorde-le aussi, jusqu’à ce que je passe le Jourdain pour entrer au pays que l’Éternel, notre Dieu, nous donne.
30 Mais Sihon, roi de Hesbon, ne voulut point nous laisser passer chez lui; car l’Éternel, ton Dieu, rendit son esprit inflexible et endurcit son coeur, afin de le livrer entre tes mains, comme tu le vois aujourd’hui.
31 L’Éternel me dit: Vois, je te livre dès maintenant Sihon et son pays.
32 Sihon sortit à notre rencontre, avec tout son peuple, pour nous combattre à Jahats.
33 L’Éternel, notre Dieu, nous le livra, et nous le battîmes, lui et ses fils, et tout son peuple.
34 Nous prîmes alors toutes ses villes, et nous les dévouâmes par interdit, hommes, femmes et petits enfants, sans en laisser échapper un seul.
35 Seulement, nous pillâmes pour nous le bétail et le butin des villes que nous avions prises.
36 Depuis Aroër sur les bords du torrent de l’Arnon, et la ville qui est dans la vallée, jusqu’à Galaad, il n’y eut pas de ville trop forte pour nous: l’Éternel, notre Dieu, nous livra tout.
37 Mais tu n’approchas point du pays des enfants d’Ammon, de tous les bords du torrent de Jabbok, des villes de la montagne, de tous les lieux que l’Éternel, notre Dieu, t’avait défendu d’attaquer.

1 Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way of the Red sea, as the Lord spake unto me: and we compassed mount Seir many days.
2 And the Lord spake unto me, saying,
3 Ye have compassed this mountain long enough: turn you northward.
4 And command thou the people, saying, Ye are to pass through the coast of your brethren the children of Esau, which dwell in Seir; and they shall be afraid of you: take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore:
5 Meddle not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as a foot breadth; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.
6 Ye shall buy meat of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.
7 For the Lord thy God hath blessed thee in all the works of thy hand: he knoweth thy walking through this great wilderness: these forty years the Lord thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.
8 And when we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, through the way of the plain from Elath, and from Eziongaber, we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
9 And the Lord said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession.
10 The Emims dwelt therein in times past, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims;
11 Which also were accounted giants, as the Anakims; but the Moabites called them Emims.
12 The Horims also dwelt in Seir beforetime; but the children of Esau succeeded them, when they had destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the Lord gave unto them.
13 Now rise up, said I, and get you over the brook Zered. And we went over the brook Zered.
14 And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, was thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the Lord sware unto them.
15 For indeed the hand of the Lord was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed.
16 So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,
17 That the Lord spake unto me, saying,
18 Thou art to pass over through Ar, the coast of Moab, this day:
19 And when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, distress them not, nor meddle with them: for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon any possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession.
20 (That also was accounted a land of giants: giants dwelt therein in old time; and the Ammonites call them Zamzummims;
21 A people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakims; but the Lord destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead:
22 As he did to the children of Esau, which dwelt in Seir, when he destroyed the Horims from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day:
23 And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, even unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
24 Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.
25 This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the nations that are under the whole heaven, who shall hear report of thee, and shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.
26 And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying,
27 Let me pass through thy land: I will go along by the high way, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.
28 Thou shalt sell me meat for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink: only I will pass through on my feet;
29 (As the children of Esau which dwell in Seir, and the Moabites which dwell in Ar, did unto me;) until I shall pass over Jordan into the land which the Lord our God giveth us.
30 But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him: for the Lord thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that he might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.
31 And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have begun to give Sihon and his land before thee: begin to possess, that thou mayest inherit his land.
32 Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, to fight at Jahaz.
33 And the Lord our God delivered him before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
34 And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed the men, and the women, and the little ones, of every city, we left none to remain:
35 Only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, and the spoil of the cities which we took.
36 From Aroer, which is by the brink of the river of Arnon, and from the city that is by the river, even unto Gilead, there was not one city too strong for us: the Lord our God delivered all unto us:
37 Only unto the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not, nor unto any place of the river Jabbok, nor unto the cities in the mountains, nor unto whatsoever the Lord our God forbad us.
