1 Timote 5
1 Pa fè granmoun gason yo repwòch twò di. Pale ak yo tankou ou ta pale ak papa ou. Aji ak jenn jan yo tankou si yo te frè ou;
2 ak granmoun fanm yo, tankou si yo te manman ou; ak jenn fi yo, tankou si yo te sè ou, san okenn move lide.
3 Pran swen vèv ki vèv tout bon yo.
4 Men, si yon vèv gen pitit, osinon pitit pitit, se pou pitit yo aprann fè tout devwa Bondye mande yo fè pou pwòp fanmi yo anvan. Konsa, y’a fè tou sa yo dwe fè pou papa yo, manman yo ak granparan yo. Se sa ki pou fè Bondye plezi.
5 Yon fanm ki vèv tout bon, ki pa gen pesonn pou okipe l’, li mete tout espwa li nan Bondye, l’ap lapriyè tout tan, l’ap mande l’ konkou lajounen kou lannwit.
6 Men, yon vèv ki lage kò l’ nan plezi, se yon vèv ki mouri, menm si l’ vivan toujou.
7 Men sa pou ou moutre yo, pou pesonn pa jwenn okenn repwòch pou fè yo.
8 Si yon moun pa pran swen fanmi l’, sitou moun k’ap viv lakay li, li nye konfyans li nan Bondye, li pi mal pase yon moun ki pa janm kwè nan Bondye.
9 Pa mete okenn vèv sou lis toutotan li pa gen swasantan. Epi, se pou l’ te marye yon sèl fwa.
10 Se pou tout moun konnen tou sa li te fè ki byen: tankou si li elve pitit li yo byen, si l’ konn resevwa moun byen lakay li, si l’ konn lave pye moun pèp Bondye a, si l’ ede malere yo, si l’ fè tout lòt kalite byen.
11 Men, pa mete okenn vèv ki poko gen laj sa a sou lis. Paske, lè anvi a pran yo pou yo marye, yo vire do bay Kris la.
12 Lè konsa yo vin antò, paske yo pa kenbe premye pwomès yo te fè l’ la.
13 Apre sa, yo pran abitid pèdi tan yo ap mache pòt an pòt. Sa ki pi rèd ankò, yo vin tripòt, fouyapòt. Y’ap foure bouch yo nan sa ki pa gade yo.
14 Se poutèt sa, mwen ta pito wè jenn vèv yo marye pou yo ka gen pitit, pou yo sa okipe kay yo. Konsa, yo p’ap bay lènmi nou yo chans pale nou mal.
15 Paske, gen vèv ki vire do yo deja, y’ap swiv Satan.
16 Men, si yon fanm ki gen lafwa gen yon vèv nan fanmi l’, se pou l’ ede l’, pou l’ pa kite l’ sou kont legliz la, pou legliz la ka ede vèv ki nan nesesite tout bon yo.
17 Kanta chèf reskonsab yo k’ap dirije legliz la byen, se pou yo resevwa yon lajan doub, sitou ansyen k’ap bay tout tan yo pou bay pawòl la ak pou fè enstriksyon moun yo.
18 Se sa ki ekri nan Liv la: Pa mare bouch bèf la lè l’ap fè moulen kann lan mache. Ou ankò: Moun ki travay fèt pou resevwa lajan travay li.
19 Pa kite pesonn vin pote plent pou yon chèf reskonsab, esepte si moun lan gen de osinon twa temwen avè li.
20 Se pou ou fè moun ki fè peche yo repwòch devan tout moun. Konsa, lòt yo va pè.
21 Devan Bondye, devan Jezikri, devan tout zanj k’ap viv pou Bondye yo, men sa m’ap mande ou: swiv lòd sa yo san fè ni patipri ni moun pa nan tou sa w’ap fè.
22 Pa prese mete men sou tèt yon moun pou ba l’ yon chaj nan legliz la. Pa mele nan peche okenn moun. Evite tou sa ki mal.
23 Ak maladi lestonmak ou a, sispann bwè dlo sèlman. Bwè ti diven tou pou ede ou fè dijesyon.
24 Gen moun, anvan menm ou jije yo, ou gen tan wè tout peche yo aklè konsa. Gen lòt menm, se lontan apre ou wè sa yo fè ki mal.
25 Konsa tou, tout byen yon moun fè gen pou parèt aklè, menm sa ou pa wè lapoula. Yo pa ka rete kache.

1 Ne réprimande pas rudement le vieillard, mais exhorte-le comme un père; exhorte les jeunes gens comme des frères,
2 les femmes âgées comme des mères, celles qui sont jeunes comme des soeurs, en toute pureté.
3 Honore les veuves qui sont véritablement veuves.
4 Si une veuve a des enfants ou des petits-enfants, qu’ils apprennent avant tout à exercer la piété envers leur propre famille, et à rendre à leurs parents ce qu’ils ont reçu d’eux; car cela est agréable à Dieu.
5 Celle qui est véritablement veuve, et qui est demeurée dans l’isolement, met son espérance en Dieu et persévère nuit et jour dans les supplications et les prières.
6 Mais celle qui vit dans les plaisirs est morte, quoique vivante.
7 Déclare-leur ces choses, afin qu’elles soient irréprochables.
8 Si quelqu’un n’a pas soin des siens, et principalement de ceux de sa famille, il a renié la foi, et il est pire qu’un infidèle.
9 Qu’une veuve, pour être inscrite sur le rôle, n’ait pas moins de soixante ans, qu’elle ait été femme d’un seul mari,
10 qu’elle soit recommandable par de bonnes oeuvres, ayant élevé des enfants, exercé l’hospitalité, lavé les pieds des saints, secouru les malheureux, pratiqué toute espèce de bonne oeuvre.
11 Mais refuse les jeunes veuves; car, lorsque la volupté les détache du Christ, elles veulent se marier,
12 et se rendent coupables en ce qu’elles violent leur premier engagement.
13 Avec cela, étant oisives, elles apprennent à aller de maison en maison; et non seulement elles sont oisives, mais encore causeuses et intrigantes, disant ce qu’il ne faut pas dire.
14 Je veux donc que les jeunes se marient, qu’elles aient des enfants, qu’elles dirigent leur maison, qu’elles ne donnent à l’adversaire aucune occasion de médire;
15 car déjà quelques-unes se sont détournées pour suivre Satan.
16 Si quelque fidèle, homme ou femme, a des veuves, qu’il les assiste, et que l’Église n’en soit point chargée, afin qu’elle puisse assister celles qui sont véritablement veuves.
17 Que les anciens qui dirigent bien soient jugés dignes d’un double honneur, surtout ceux qui travaillent à la prédication et à l’enseignement.
18 Car l’Écriture dit: Tu n’emmuselleras point le boeuf quand il foule le grain. Et l’ouvrier mérite son salaire.
19 Ne reçois point d’accusation contre un ancien, si ce n’est sur la déposition de deux ou trois témoins.
20 Ceux qui pèchent, reprends-les devant tous, afin que les autres aussi éprouvent de la crainte.
21 Je te conjure devant Dieu, devant Jésus Christ, et devant les anges élus, d’observer ces choses sans prévention, et de ne rien faire par faveur.
22 N’impose les mains à personne avec précipitation, et ne participe pas aux péchés d’autrui; toi-même, conserve-toi pur.
23 Ne continue pas à ne boire que de l’eau; mais fais usage d’un peu de vin, à cause de ton estomac et de tes fréquentes indispositions.
24 Les péchés de certains hommes sont manifestes, même avant qu’on les juge, tandis que chez d’autres, ils ne se découvrent que dans la suite.
25 De même, les bonnes oeuvres sont manifestes, et celles qui ne le sont pas ne peuvent rester cachées.

1 Timothy 5
1 Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren;
2 The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.
3 Honour widows that are widows indeed.
4 But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.
5 Now she that is a widow indeed, and desolate, trusteth in God, and continueth in supplications and prayers night and day.
6 But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.
7 And these things give in charge, that they may be blameless.
8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
9 Let not a widow be taken into the number under threescore years old, having been the wife of one man.
10 Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints’ feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.
11 But the younger widows refuse: for when they have begun to wax wanton against Christ, they will marry;
12 Having damnation, because they have cast off their first faith.
13 And withal they learn to be idle, wandering about from house to house; and not only idle, but tattlers also and busybodies, speaking things which they ought not.
14 I will therefore that the younger women marry, bear children, guide the house, give none occasion to the adversary to speak reproachfully.
15 For some are already turned aside after Satan.
16 If any man or woman that believeth have widows, let them relieve them, and let not the church be charged; that it may relieve them that are widows indeed.
17 Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine.
18 For the scripture saith, thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
19 Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses.
20 Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
21 I charge thee before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, and the elect angels, that thou observe these things without preferring one before another, doing nothing by partiality.
22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.
23 Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach’s sake and thine often infirmities.
24 Some men’s sins are open beforehand, going before to judgment; and some men they follow after.
25 Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.
