1 Pèp la te konmanse ap plenyen nan zòrèy Seyè a jan zafè yo pa t’ bon. Lè Seyè a tande sa, li fè yon sèl kòlè, li voye dife sou pèp la. Dife a pran nan mitan yo, li boule yon bò nan kan an nèt.
2 Pèp la rele Moyiz vin delivre yo. Moyiz lapriyè Seyè a pou yo epi dife a sispann.
3 Se konsa yo rele kote yo te ye a Tabera, paske se la dife Seyè a te pran nan mitan yo a.
4 Bann moun lòt nasyon ki te la nan mitan pèp Izrayèl la te anvi manje vyann. Pèp la menm te pran plenyen ankò, yo t’ap di: -Ki moun k’ap fè nou jwenn vyann pou nou manje koulye a?
5 Jan nou te konn manje pwason pou gremesi nan peyi Lejip! Nou chonje kalite bon ti konkonm, melon dlo, powo, zonyon, ak lay nou te konn manje!
6 Men koulye a, se deperi n’ap deperi. Nou pa gen anyen pou nou manje, anyen menm pase laman lan ki devan je nou tout tan!
7 Laman lan te gen fòm grenn pitimi, li te blan epi ou ta di se gonm arabik.
8 Pèp la ale toupatou, li ranmase yo. Apre sa, oubyen li te pase yo nan moulen wòch, oubyen li te pile yo nan pilon pou fè farin. Lèfini, yo kwit li nan chodyè, yo fè gato plat avè l’. Li te gen menm gou avèk pen ki fèt ak lwil oliv.
9 Se lannwit laman lan te konn tonbe nan kan an, menm lè ak lawouze.
10 Moyiz te tande jan pèp la t’ap plenyen, chak moun ak fanmi yo devan papòt tant yo. Seyè a te fache anpil sou moun yo. Sa te fè Moyiz lapenn.
11 Lè sa a, Moyiz di Seyè a konsa: -Poukisa ou aji mal avè m’ konsa? Kisa m’ fè ki pa fè ou plezi? Poukisa ou mete tout pèp sa a sou kont mwen?
12 Eske se mwen ki papa yo? Eske se mwen ki manman yo? Poukisa w’ap mande m’ pou mwen pote yo sou lestonmak mwen tankou nouris k’ap bay timoun tete, jouk yo rive nan peyi ou te pwomèt zansèt yo ou t’ap ba yo a?
13 Kote pou m’ jwenn vyann pou m’ bay tout moun sa yo? Y’ap plede plenyen nan zòrèy mwen, y’ap mande m’ pou m’ ba yo vyann pou yo manje.
14 Mwen pa kapab reskonsab tout pèp sa a pou kont mwen. Chay la twò lou pou mwen.
15 Si se konsa w’ap aji avè m’, tanpri, fè m’ favè sa a: pito ou tou touye m’ fin ak sa, pou m’ pa wè m’ap pase tout malè sa a.
16 Seyè a di Moyiz konsa: -Sanble swasanndis nan chèf fanmi pèp Izrayèl la, moun ou konnen ki gen otorite sou pèp la, ki konn bout yo. Mennen yo nan Tant Randevou a. Fè yo rete kanpe la avèk ou.
17 M’ap desann epi m’a pale avè ou. M’a pran ti gout nan lespri mwen te ba ou a, m’a ba yo. Konsa, y’a ede ou pote reskonsablite pèp la, ou p’ap pote chay la pou kont ou ankò.
18 W’a di pèp la menm: Pran nwit la pou nou pare kò nou pou nou ka fè sèvis pou mwen denmen maten. Epi n’a jwenn vyann pou nou manje. Seyè a te tande jan nou t’ap plenyen nan zòrèy li, jan nou t’ap di nou ta renmen jwenn vyann pou nou manje. Nou te pi bon lè nou te nan peyi Lejip. Koulye a, Seyè a pral ban nou vyann. Se pou nou manje l’ ban mwen.
19 Se pa sèlman yon jou, ni de jou, ni senk jou, ni dis jou, ni vin jou n’a jwenn vyann sa a pou nou manje.
20 Se va pandan tout yon mwa. N’a gen pou nou manje l’ jouk l’a soti nan twou nen nou, jouk n’a rebite l’, paske nou te vire do bay Bondye ki te la nan mitan nou an, nou t’ap plenyen nan zòrèy li, nou t’ap di nou pa t’ dwe janm soti kite peyi Lejip.
21 Moyiz di Seyè a: -Se sisanmil (600.000) moun wi ki sou kont mwen. Epi ou di w’ap ba yo vyann kont pou yo manje yon mwa.
22 Kote pou yo jwenn kantite mouton ak bèf pou touye ki pou ta kont pou yo? Si yo ta ka ranmase tout pwason ki nan lanmè, ou kwè li ta ase pou yo?
23 Seyè a di Moyiz: -Pa gen bagay mwen vle fè mwen pa ka fè! Talè konsa w’a wè si sa m’ di a p’ap rive vre.
24 Se konsa Moyiz soti, li di pèp la tou sa Seyè a te di l’. Li pran swasanndis nan chèf fanmi pèp Izrayèl la, li mete yo kanpe fè wonn kay Bondye a.
25 Seyè a desann nan yon nwaj, li pale ak Moyiz ankò. Apre sa, li pran ti gout nan lespri li te bay Moyiz la, li bay swasanndis chèf yo. Lè lespri a vin sou yo, yo tonbe pale tankou pwofèt yo sou tout kalite bagay. Apre sa, yo sispann.
26 Te gen de nan chèf fanmi yo te chwazi yo ki te rete nan kan an. Yo pa t’ ale nan kay Bondye a. Yonn te rele Eldad, lòt la Medad. Lespri a te desann sou yo tou, yo t’ap pale pawòl Bondye a byen fò nan kan an.
27 Yon jenn gason kouri al di Moyiz men Eldad ak Medad ap pale pawòl Bondye a byen fò nan kan an.
28 Lè sa a Jozye, pitit gason Noun lan, ki te adjwen Moyiz nan tou sa l’ t’ap fè depi li te jenn tibway, pran lapawòl, li pale ak Moyiz, li di l’ konsa: -Msye Moyiz, fè yo sispann non!
29 Moyiz reponn li: -Kouman? Ou gen lè w’ap fè jalouzi pou mwen? Pa pito Seyè a te mete lespri l’ sou tout pèp la pou yo te ka pale tankou pwofèt!
30 Apre sa, Moyiz tounen nan kan an ansanm ak swasanndis chèf fanmi yo.
31 Apre sa, Seyè a fè yon sèl van soufle sot nan lanmè, li bwote yon bann zòtolan ki vin tonbe toupatou nan kan kote moun yo te rete a ak toutotou kan an. Yon moun ta gen dwa mache tout yon jounen nan nenpòt direksyon anvan pou l’ ta kite kote zòtolan yo te tonbe a. Zòtolan yo te fè pil rive twa pye wotè sou tè a.
32 Pèp la pase tout jounen an, tout nwit la, ak tout jounen denmen an ap ranmase zòtolan. Sa ki te ranmase pi piti a te ranmase dis barik pou tèt pa l’. Yo blayi yo atè toupatou nan kan an pou mete yo cheche.
33 Yo te fèk konmanse manje vyann, lè Seyè a fè kòlè sou pèp la, li lage yon sèl epidemi sou yo pou pini yo.
34 Yo rele kote sa a: Simityè Grangou, paske se la yo te antere tout moun nan pèp la ki t’ap plenyen pou vyann.
35 Apre sa, pèp la kite Simityè Grangou kote yo te ye a, yo pati pou Azewòt kote yo moute kay yo.

1 Le peuple murmura et cela déplut aux oreilles l’Éternel. Lorsque l’Éternel l’entendit, sa colère s’enflamma; le feu de l’Éternel s’alluma parmi eux, et dévora l’extrémité du camp.
2 Le peuple cria à Moïse. Moïse pria l’Éternel, et le feu s’arrêta.
3 On donna à ce lieu le nom de Tabeéra, parce que le feu de l’Éternel s’était allumé parmi eux.
4 Le ramassis de gens qui se trouvaient au milieu d’Israël fut saisi de convoitise; et même les enfants d’Israël recommencèrent à pleurer et dirent: Qui nous donnera de la viande à manger?
5 Nous nous souvenons des poissons que nous mangions en Égypte, et qui ne nous coûtaient rien, des concombres, des melons, des poireaux, des oignons et des aulx.
6 Maintenant, notre âme est desséchée: plus rien! Nos yeux ne voient que de la manne.
7 La manne ressemblait à de la graine de coriandre, et avait l’apparence du bdellium.
8 Le peuple se dispersait pour la ramasser; il la broyait avec des meules, ou la pilait dans un mortier; il la cuisait au pot, et en faisait des gâteaux. Elle avait le goût d’un gâteau à l’huile.
9 Quand la rosée descendait la nuit sur le camp, la manne y descendait aussi.
10 Moïse entendit le peuple qui pleurait, chacun dans sa famille et à l’entrée de sa tente. La colère de l’Éternel s’enflamma fortement.
11 Moïse fut attristé, et il dit à l’Éternel: Pourquoi affliges-tu ton serviteur, et pourquoi n’ai-je pas trouvé grâce à tes yeux, que tu aies mis sur moi la charge de tout ce peuple?
12 Est-ce moi qui ai conçu ce peuple? est-ce moi qui l’ai enfanté, pour que tu me dises: Porte-le sur ton sein, comme le nourricier porte un enfant, jusqu’au pays que tu as juré à ses pères de lui donner?
13 Où prendrai-je de la viande pour donner à tout ce peuple? Car ils pleurent auprès de moi, en disant: Donne-nous de la viande à manger!
14 Je ne puis pas, à moi seul, porter tout ce peuple, car il est trop pesant pour moi.
15 Plutôt que de me traiter ainsi, tue-moi, je te prie, si j’ai trouvé grâce à tes yeux, et que je ne voie pas mon malheur.
16 L’Éternel dit à Moïse: Assemble auprès de moi soixante-dix hommes des anciens d’Israël, de ceux que tu connais comme anciens du peuple et ayant autorité sur lui; amène-les à la tente d’assignation, et qu’ils s’y présentent avec toi.
17 Je descendrai, et là je te parlerai; je prendrai de l’esprit qui est sur toi, et je le mettrai sur eux, afin qu’ils portent avec toi la charge du peuple, et que tu ne la portes pas à toi seul.
18 Tu diras au peuple: Sanctifiez-vous pour demain, et vous mangerez de la viande, puisque vous avez pleuré aux oreilles de l’Éternel, en disant: Qui nous fera manger de la viande? car nous étions bien en Égypte. L’Éternel vous donnera de la viande, et vous en mangerez.
19 Vous en mangerez non pas un jour, ni deux jours, ni cinq jours, ni dix jours, ni vingt jours,
20 mais un mois entier, jusqu’à ce qu’elle vous sorte par les narines et que vous en ayez du dégoût, parce que vous avez rejeté l’Éternel qui est au milieu de vous, et parce que vous avez pleuré devant lui, en disant: Pourquoi donc sommes-nous sortis d’Égypte?
21 Moïse dit: Six cent mille hommes de pied forment le peuple au milieu duquel je suis, et tu dis: Je leur donnerai de la viande, et ils en mangeront un mois entier!
22 Égorgera-t-on pour eux des brebis et des boeufs, en sorte qu’ils en aient assez? ou rassemblera-t-on pour eux tous les poissons de la mer, en sorte qu’ils en aient assez?
23 L’Éternel répondit à Moïse: La main de l’Éternel serait-elle trop courte? Tu verras maintenant si ce que je t’ai dit arrivera ou non.
24 Moïse sortit, et rapporta au peuple les paroles de l’Éternel. Il assembla soixante-dix hommes des anciens du peuple, et les plaça autour de la tente.
25 L’Éternel descendit dans la nuée, et parla à Moïse; il prit de l’esprit qui était sur lui, et le mit sur les soixante-dix anciens. Et dès que l’esprit reposa sur eux, ils prophétisèrent; mais ils ne continuèrent pas.
26 Il y eut deux hommes, l’un appelé Eldad, et l’autre Médad, qui étaient restés dans le camp, et sur lesquels l’esprit reposa; car ils étaient parmi les inscrits, quoiqu’ils ne fussent point allés à la tente; et ils prophétisèrent dans le camp.
27 Un jeune garçon courut l’annoncer à Moïse, et dit: Eldad et Médad prophétisent dans le camp.
28 Et Josué, fils de Nun, serviteur de Moïse depuis sa jeunesse, prit la parole et dit: Moïse, mon seigneur, empêche-les!
29 Moïse lui répondit: Es-tu jaloux pour moi? Puisse tout le peuple de l’Éternel être composé de prophètes; et veuille l’Éternel mettre son esprit sur eux!
30 Et Moïse se retira au camp, lui et les anciens d’Israël.
31 L’Éternel fit souffler de la mer un vent, qui amena des cailles, et les répandit sur le camp, environ une journée de chemin d’un côté et environ une journée de chemin de l’autre côté, autour du camp. Il y en avait près de deux coudées au-dessus de la surface de la terre.
32 Pendant tout ce jour et toute la nuit, et pendant toute la journée du lendemain, le peuple se leva et ramassa les cailles; celui qui en avait ramassé le moins en avait dix homers. Ils les étendirent pour eux autour du camp.
33 Comme la chair était encore entre leurs dents sans être mâchée, la colère de l’Éternel s’enflamma contre le peuple, et l’Éternel frappa le peuple d’une très grande plaie.
34 On donna à ce lieu le nom de Kibroth Hattaava, parce qu’on y enterra le peuple que la convoitise avait saisi.
35 De Kibroth Hattaava le peuple partit pour Hatséroth, et il s’arrêta à Hatséroth.

1 And when the people complained, it displeased the Lord: and the Lord heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the Lord burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.
2 And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the Lord, the fire was quenched.
3 And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of the Lord burnt among them.
4 And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
5 We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:
6 But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.
7 And the manna was as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium.
8 And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.
9 And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.
10 Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the Lord was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.
11 And Moses said unto the Lord, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?
12 Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?
13 Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.
14 I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
15 And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.
16 And the Lord said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.
17 And I will come down and talk with thee there: and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.
18 And say thou unto the people, Sanctify yourselves against to morrow, and ye shall eat flesh: for ye have wept in the ears of the Lord, saying, Who shall give us flesh to eat? for it was well with us in Egypt: therefore the Lord will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.
19 Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;
20 But even a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you: because that ye have despised the Lord which is among you, and have wept before him, saying, Why came we forth out of Egypt?
21 And Moses said, The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand footmen; and thou hast said, I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month.
22 Shall the flocks and the herds be slain for them, to suffice them? or shall all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, to suffice them?
23 And the Lord said unto Moses, Is the Lord‘S hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not.
24 And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the Lord, and gathered the seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the tabernacle.
25 And the Lord came down in a cloud, and spake unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and gave it unto the seventy elders: and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, and did not cease.
26 But there remained two of the men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad: and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were written, but went not out unto the tabernacle: and they prophesied in the camp.
27 And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said, Eldad and Medad do prophesy in the camp.
28 And Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of Moses, one of his young men, answered and said, My lord Moses, forbid them.
29 And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the Lord‘S people were prophets, and that the Lord would put his spirit upon them!
30 And Moses gat him into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
31 And there went forth a wind from the Lord, and brought quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, as it were a day’s journey on this side, and as it were a day’s journey on the other side, round about the camp, and as it were two cubits high upon the face of the earth.
32 And the people stood up all that day, and all that night, and all the next day, and they gathered the quails: he that gathered least gathered ten homers: and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.
33 And while the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the wrath of the Lord was kindled against the people, and the Lord smote the people with a very great plague.
34 And he called the name of that place Kibrothhattaavah: because there they buried the people that lusted.
35 And the people journeyed from Kibrothhattaavah unto Hazeroth; and abode at Hazeroth.
