Jòb 31
1 Mwen te fè sèman pou m’ pa janm gade yon jenn fi avèk move lide.
2 Kisa Bondye ki anwo a ap fè nou konsa? Kisa Bondye ki gen tout pouvwa a sere pou nou?
3 Li voye malè pou moun ki pa mache dwat. Li voye tribilasyon pou moun k’ap fè mechanste.
4 Eske Bondye pa konnen tou sa n’ap fè? Eske li pa wè tout vire tounen m’?
5 Eske mwen janm nan bay manti? Eske mwen janm chache twonpe moun?
6 Se pou Bondye peze m’ nan bon balans li a. Se pou Bondye wè jan m’ toujou mache dwat.
7 Si mwen janm pran chemen kwochi pou mwen, si mwen te kite lanvi anvayi kè m’, si mwen janm mete men m’ nan sa ki mal,
8 se pou lòt moun rekòlte sa mwen plante. Se pou yo rache tout ti plant k’ap pouse nan jaden m’.
9 Si mwen te kite yon lòt fanm pran tèt mwen, pou m’ al kache devan pòt yon frè mwen ap veye,
10 se pou madanm mwen fè manje pou yon lòt gason. Se pou lòt gason kouche avè l’.
11 Se yon gwo bagay sal mwen ta fè la a. Se bagay pou yo ta touye m’.
12 Se ta tankou yon gwo dife mwen limen pou fini avè m’ nèt. Li ta boule dènye sa m’ genyen.
13 Lè domestik mwen osinon sèvant mwen gen kont avè m’, si mwen ta refize mete rezon an kote l’ ye a,
14 kisa mwen ta fè, lè Bondye parèt devan m’? Lè l’a mande m’ kont, kisa m’a reponn li?
15 Menm Bondye ki fè m’ nan vant manman m’ lan, se li menm tou ki fè yo nan vant manman pa yo. Se li menm ki kreye nou tout.
16 Mwen pa janm refize ede yon pòv. Ni mwen pa janm kite vèv yo nan nesesite.
17 Mwen pa janm kite timoun san papa yo rete grangou pou m’ap manje manje m’ pou kont mwen.
18 Okontrè, depi m’ fèt, m’ sèvi ak timoun sa yo tankou papa ak pitit. Depi m’ soti nan vant manman m’, m’ap pran swen vèv yo.
19 Lè m’ jwenn yon malere toutouni osinon yon pòv endijan san yon bout dra,
20 mwen ba yo rad pou mete sou yo, mwen pran lenn sou do mouton m’ pou m’ ba yo chofe.
21 Si m’ te janm aji mal ak yon timoun san papa paske mwen konnen y’a toujou ban m’ rezon nan tribinal,
22 enben, se pou zepòl mwen dejwente, se pou de bra m’ kase.
23 Paske, mwen pè jijman Bondye. Mwen pa ka kanpe devan l’.
24 Mwen pa janm mete konfyans mwen nan lò pou m’ ta di se sa k’ap pwoteje m’.
25 Mwen pa janm vante tèt mwen dèske mwen gen anpil byen, dèske mwen fè anpil lajan ak men mwen.
26 Mwen pa janm adore solèy ak lalin lè yo klere byen bèl nan syèl la.
27 Mwen pa janm pèdi tèt mwen pou m’ sèvi yo an kachèt.
28 Sa a tou, yo ta mèt touye m’ si m’ ta fè l’, paske mwen ta nye Bondye ki gen tout pouvwa a.
29 Mwen pa janm kontan lè lènmi m’ ap soufri. Mwen pa janm fè fèt lè malè tonbe sou yo.
30 Mwen pa janm kite bouch mwen chape pou m’ ta ba yo madichon, pou m’ ta rive mande lanmò pou yo.
31 Tout moun k’ap viv nan kay avè m’ konnen mwen toujou byen resevwa tout moun lakay mwen.
32 Vwayajè pa janm dòmi deyò nan lari. Pòt kay mwen toujou louvri pou yo.
33 Mwen pa janm kache peche m’ pou pesonn. Ni mwen pa janm fè sa ki mal an kachèt.
34 Mwen pa janm pè sa moun ap di. Mwen pa janm pè louvri bouch mwen ni pè mete pwent tèt mwen deyò, paske mwen ta pè pou moun pa lonje dwèt sou mwen.
35 Pa gen pesonn pou koute sa m’ap di la a? Mwen fin di sa pou m’ di a. Koulye a, se Bondye ki pou reponn mwen. Si moun ki pa vle wè m’ lan ta voye papye nan tribinal pou mwen,
36 mwen ta pote papye sa a sou zepòl mwen san ankenn wont. Mwen ta mare l’ sou tèt mwen, tankou yon kouwòn.
37 Mwen ta di Bondye dènye sa mwen fè. Mwen ta kenbe tèt mwen dwat devan l’.
38 Si se vòlò mwen te vòlò tè m’ap travay la kifè koulye a tè a ap mande m’ kont,
39 si mwen te manje rekòt jaden an san peye travayè yo kifè koulye a y’ap pote plent pou mwen,
40 enben, se pikan ak chadwon ki pou leve nan jaden m’ kote ble ak lòj te konn pouse. Se konsa Jòb te fin pale.

Job 31
1 J’avais fait un pacte avec mes yeux, Et je n’aurais pas arrêté mes regards sur une vierge.
2 Quelle part Dieu m’eût-il réservée d’en haut? Quel héritage le Tout Puissant m’eût-il envoyé des cieux?
3 La ruine n’est-elle pas pour le méchant, Et le malheur pour ceux qui commettent l’iniquité?
4 Dieu n’a-t-il pas connu mes voies? N’a-t-il pas compté tous mes pas?
5 Si j’ai marché dans le mensonge, Si mon pied a couru vers la fraude,
6 Que Dieu me pèse dans des balances justes, Et il reconnaîtra mon intégrité!
7 Si mon pas s’est détourné du droit chemin, Si mon coeur a suivi mes yeux, Si quelque souillure s’est attachée à mes mains,
8 Que je sème et qu’un autre moissonne, Et que mes rejetons soient déracinés!
9 Si mon coeur a été séduit par une femme, Si j’ai fait le guet à la porte de mon prochain,
10 Que ma femme tourne la meule pour un autre, Et que d’autres la déshonorent!
11 Car c’est un crime, Un forfait que punissent les juges;
12 C’est un feu qui dévore jusqu’à la ruine, Et qui aurait détruit toute ma richesse.
13 Si j’ai méprisé le droit de mon serviteur ou de ma servante Lorsqu’ils étaient en contestation avec moi,
14 Qu’ai-je à faire, quand Dieu se lève? Qu’ai-je à répondre, quand il châtie?
15 Celui qui m’a créé dans le ventre de ma mère ne l’a-t-il pas créé? Le même Dieu ne nous a-t-il pas formés dans le sein maternel?
16 Si j’ai refusé aux pauvres ce qu’ils demandaient, Si j’ai fait languir les yeux de la veuve,
17 Si j’ai mangé seul mon pain, Sans que l’orphelin en ait eu sa part,
18 Moi qui l’ai dès ma jeunesse élevé comme un père, Moi qui dès ma naissance ai soutenu la veuve;
19 Si j’ai vu le malheureux manquer de vêtements, L’indigent n’avoir point de couverture,
20 Sans que ses reins m’aient béni, Sans qu’il ait été réchauffé par la toison de mes agneaux;
21 Si j’ai levé la main contre l’orphelin, Parce que je me sentais un appui dans les juges;
22 Que mon épaule se détache de sa jointure, Que mon bras tombe et qu’il se brise!
23 Car les châtiments de Dieu m’épouvantent, Et je ne puis rien devant sa majesté.
24 Si j’ai mis dans l’or ma confiance, Si j’ai dit à l’or: Tu es mon espoir;
25 Si je me suis réjoui de la grandeur de mes biens, De la quantité des richesses que j’avais acquises;
26 Si j’ai regardé le soleil quand il brillait, La lune quand elle s’avançait majestueuse,
27 Et si mon coeur s’est laissé séduire en secret, Si ma main s’est portée sur ma bouche;
28 C’est encore un crime que doivent punir les juges, Et j’aurais renié le Dieu d’en haut!
29 Si j’ai été joyeux du malheur de mon ennemi, Si j’ai sauté d’allégresse quand les revers l’ont atteint,
30 Moi qui n’ai pas permis à ma langue de pécher, De demander sa mort avec imprécation;
31 Si les gens de ma tente ne disaient pas: Où est celui qui n’a pas été rassasié de sa viande?
32 Si l’étranger passait la nuit dehors, Si je n’ouvrais pas ma porte au voyageur;
33 Si, comme les hommes, j’ai caché mes transgressions, Et renfermé mes iniquités dans mon sein,
34 Parce que j’avais peur de la multitude, Parce que je craignais le mépris des familles, Me tenant à l’écart et n’osant franchir ma porte…
35 Oh! qui me fera trouver quelqu’un qui m’écoute? Voilà ma défense toute signée: Que le Tout Puissant me réponde! Qui me donnera la plainte écrite par mon adversaire?
36 Je porterai son écrit sur mon épaule, Je l’attacherai sur mon front comme une couronne;
37 Je lui rendrai compte de tous mes pas, Je m’approcherai de lui comme un prince.
38 Si ma terre crie contre moi, Et que ses sillons versent des larmes;
39 Si j’en ai mangé le produit sans l’avoir payée, Et que j’aie attristé l’âme de ses anciens maîtres;
40 Qu’il y croisse des épines au lieu de froment, Et de l’ivraie au lieu d’orge! Fin des paroles de Job.

Job 31
1 I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?
2 For what portion of God is there from above? and what inheritance of the Almighty from on high?
3 Is not destruction to the wicked? and a strange punishment to the workers of iniquity?
4 Doth not he see my ways, and count all my steps?
5 If I have walked with vanity, or if my foot hath hasted to deceit;
6 Let me be weighed in an even balance that God may know mine integrity.
7 If my step hath turned out of the way, and mine heart walked after mine eyes, and if any blot hath cleaved to mine hands;
8 Then let me sow, and let another eat; yea, let my offspring be rooted out.
9 If mine heart have been deceived by a woman, or if I have laid wait at my neighbour’s door;
10 Then let my wife grind unto another, and let others bow down upon her.
11 For this is an heinous crime; yea, it is an iniquity to be punished by the judges.
12 For it is a fire that consumeth to destruction, and would root out all mine increase.
13 If I did despise the cause of my manservant or of my maidservant, when they contended with me;
14 What then shall I do when God riseth up? and when he visiteth, what shall I answer him?
15 Did not he that made me in the womb make him? and did not one fashion us in the womb?
16 If I have withheld the poor from their desire, or have caused the eyes of the widow to fail;
17 Or have eaten my morsel myself alone, and the fatherless hath not eaten thereof;
18 (For from my youth he was brought up with me, as with a father, and I have guided her from my mother’s womb;)
19 If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering;
20 If his loins have not blessed me, and if he were not warmed with the fleece of my sheep;
21 If I have lifted up my hand against the fatherless, when I saw my help in the gate:
22 Then let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone.
23 For destruction from God was a terror to me, and by reason of his highness I could not endure.
24 If I have made gold my hope, or have said to the fine gold, Thou art my confidence;
25 If I rejoice because my wealth was great, and because mine hand had gotten much;
26 If I beheld the sun when it shined, or the moon walking in brightness;
27 And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand:
28 This also were an iniquity to be punished by the judge: for I should have denied the God that is above.
29 If I rejoice at the destruction of him that hated me, or lifted up myself when evil found him:
30 Neither have I suffered my mouth to sin by wishing a curse to his soul.
31 If the men of my tabernacle said not, Oh that we had of his flesh! we cannot be satisfied.
32 The stranger did not lodge in the street: but I opened my doors to the traveller.
33 If I covered my transgressions as Adam, by hiding mine iniquity in my bosom:
34 Did I fear a great multitude, or did the contempt of families terrify me, that I kept silence, and went not out of the door?
35 Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that mine adversary had written a book.
36 Surely I would take it upon my shoulder, and bind it as a crown to me.
37 I would declare unto him the number of my steps; as a prince would I go near unto him.
38 If my land cry against me, or that the furrows likewise thereof complain;
39 If I have eaten the fruits thereof without money, or have caused the owners thereof to lose their life:
40 Let thistles grow instead of wheat, and cockle instead of barley. The words of Job are ended.
