1 Kèk tan apre sa, moun Filisti yo sanble tout sòlda yo pou y’ al goumen ak pèp Izrayèl la. Lè sa a, Akich di David: -Ou tou konnen se pou ou pati ansanm avè m’ ak mesye ou yo pou n’ al goumen.
2 David reponn li: -Se moun ou mwen ye. Ou pral wè sa m’ ka fè. Akich di li: -Bon! Apre sa, m’ap fè ou gad kò mwen pou tout tan.
3 Samyèl te deja mouri lè sa a, tout pèp Izrayèl la te kriye kont kriye yo pou li. Apre sa, yo antere l’ lavil Rama kote li te moun. Sayil te mete tout divinò deyò nan peyi a ansanm ak tout moun ki konn rele mò pou pale ak yo.
4 Sòlda moun Filisti yo te sanble, yo moute kan yo bò lavil Chounèm. Sayil menm sanble tout sòlda pèp Izrayèl yo, epi li moute kan l’ sou mòn Gilboa.
5 Lè Sayil wè lame moun Filisti yo, li soti pè, kè l’ pran bat byen fò.
6 Se konsa, li mande Seyè a sa pou l’ fè. Men, Seyè a pa ba li ankenn repons, ni nan rèv, ni avèk ourim yo, ni nan mesaj pwofèt yo.
7 Lè sa a, Sayil rele moun k’ap sèvi avè l’ yo, li ba yo lòd sa a: -Al chache kote nou ka jwenn yon fanm ki konn rele mò pou l’ travay pou mwen. Yo reponn li: -Gen yonn lavil Andò.
8 Sayil mete lòt kalite rad sou li, li maske. Li leve, li pati ak de moun pa l’. Yo rive kay fanm lan nan mitan lannwit. Sayil di fanm lan: -M’ pral ba ou non yon mò pou ou rele pou mwen. Rele li pou mwen tanpri, pou m’ konnen sa ki pral rive m’.
9 Men, fanm lan di l’: -Ou konnen sa wa Sayil te fè a pa vre? Li te mete tout divinò ak tout moun k’ap pale ak mò deyò nan peyi a wi. Poukisa atò w’ap seye pran m’ nan plan pou fè yo touye m’?
10 Sayil pran non Bondye fè sèman, li di: -Devan Seyè ki vivan an, mwen fè sèman yo p’ap fè ou anyen pou zafè sa a.
11 Fanm lan di l’: -Ki moun pou m’ rele pou ou? Li reponn: -Rele Samyèl pou mwen.
12 Lè madanm lan wè Samyèl, li pete rele, li di Sayil: -Poukisa ou twonpe m’ konsa? Ou se wa Sayil!
13 Wa a di l’: -Ou pa bezwen pè. Kisa ou wè? Fanm lan di Sayil: -Mwen wè yon lespri k’ap moute soti anba tè a.
14 Wa a di l’: -Kisa ou wè li sanble? Fanm lan reponn: -Se yon vye granmoun gason k’ap moute la a. Li vlope nan yon gwo dra. Lè sa a, Sayil vin konnen se te Samyèl. Li tonbe ajenou, li bese tèt li jouk atè.
15 Samyèl di Sayil: -Poukisa ou detounen m’ konsa? Poukisa ou fè m’ remoute la a en? Sayil di li: -Mwen nan gwo tèt chaje: Moun Filisti yo ap fè m’ lagè. Epi Bondye vire do ban mwen. Li pa pale avè m’ ankò, ni nan rèv, ni nan mesaj pwofèt yo. Se poutèt sa, mwen fè rele ou pou ou ka fè m’ konnen sa pou m’ fè.
16 Samyèl di l’: -Koulye a Seyè a vire do ba ou, li tounen lènmi ou, poukisa se mwen menm w’ap mande bagay konsa?
17 Seyè a annik fè sa li te di m’ di ou la: li wete gouvènman an nan men ou, li bay David li pito.
18 Ou pa t’ koute sa Seyè a te di ou, ou pa t’ detwi moun Amalèk yo nèt ansanm ak tou sa yo te genyen. Se poutèt sa Seyè a fè ou sa li fè ou jòdi a.
19 Li pral lage ou ansanm ak tout pèp Izrayèl la nan men moun Filisti yo. Denmen lè konsa, ni ou menm ni pitit gason ou yo ap menm kote avè m’. Seyè a pral lage lame pèp Izrayèl la nan men moun Filisti yo.
20 Tande Sayil tande sa, li tonbe tou long atè, li te pè akòz pawòl Samyèl te di l’ la a. Li te fèb anpil tou, paske li pa t’ manje anyen depi maten.
21 Fanm lan al jwenn Sayil atè a, li wè jan Sayil t’ap tranble tèlman li te pè. Li di l’ konsa: -Tanpri, mèt, tande sa m’ap di ou: Mwen te mete lavi m’ an danje pou m’ te fè sa ou te mande m’ fè a.
22 Koulye a, tanpri, tande sa m’ap di ou. Ou pral fè sa m’a pral di ou la a: Kite m’ al pare yon ti manje pou ou. W’a manje, w’a pran fòs ankò pou ou ka al fè wout ou.
23 Sayil refize, li di li p’ap manje anyen. Men mesye ki te avè l’ yo ansanm ak fanm lan pale avè l’, yo fè l’ tande rezon. Bout pou bout, li dakò, li leve sot atè a, li chita sou kabann lan.
24 Fanm lan te gen yon ti bèf li t’ap angrese lakay li. Li prese touye l’. Apre sa, li pran farin, li fè pat avè l’, li kwit kèk ti pen san ledven.
25 Li pote tout bagay sa yo devan Sayil ak mesye l’ yo. Yo manje. Lèfini, lannwit lan menm yo leve, yo pati.

1 En ce temps-là, les Philistins rassemblèrent leurs troupes et formèrent une armée, pour faire la guerre à Israël. Akisch dit à David: Tu sais que tu viendras avec moi à l’armée, toi et tes gens.
2 David répondit à Akisch: Tu verras bien ce que ton serviteur fera. Et Akisch dit à David: Aussi je te donnerai pour toujours la garde de ma personne.
3 Samuel était mort; tout Israël l’avait pleuré, et on l’avait enterré à Rama, dans sa ville. Saül avait ôté du pays ceux qui évoquaient les morts et ceux qui prédisaient l’avenir.
4 Les Philistins se rassemblèrent, et vinrent camper à Sunem; Saül rassembla tout Israël, et ils campèrent à Guilboa.
5 A la vue du camp des Philistins, Saül fut saisi de crainte, et un violent tremblement s’empara de son coeur.
6 Saül consulta l’Éternel; et l’Éternel ne lui répondit point, ni par des songes, ni par l’urim, ni par les prophètes.
7 Et Saül dit à ses serviteurs: Cherchez-moi une femme qui évoque les morts, et j’irai la consulter. Ses serviteurs lui dirent: Voici, à En Dor il y a une femme qui évoque les morts.
8 Alors Saül se déguisa et prit d’autres vêtements, et il partit avec deux hommes. Ils arrivèrent de nuit chez la femme. Saül lui dit: Prédis-moi l’avenir en évoquant un mort, et fais-moi monter celui que je te dirai.
9 La femme lui répondit: Voici, tu sais ce que Saül a fait, comment il a retranché du pays ceux qui évoquent les morts et ceux qui prédisent l’avenir; pourquoi donc tends-tu un piège à ma vie pour me faire mourir?
10 Saül lui jura par l’Éternel, en disant: L’Éternel est vivant! il ne t’arrivera point de mal pour cela.
11 La femme dit: Qui veux-tu que je te fasse monter? Et il répondit: Fais moi monter Samuel.
12 Lorsque la femme vit Samuel, elle poussa un grand cri, et elle dit à Saül: Pourquoi m’as-tu trompée? Tu es Saül!
13 Le roi lui dit: Ne crains rien; mais que vois-tu? La femme dit à Saül: je vois un dieu qui monte de la terre.
14 Il lui dit: Quelle figure a-t-il? Et elle répondit: C’est un vieillard qui monte et il est enveloppé d’un manteau. Saül comprit que c’était Samuel, et il s’inclina le visage contre terre et se prosterna.
15 Samuel dit à Saül: Pourquoi m’as-tu troublé, en me faisant monter? Saül répondit: Je suis dans une grande détresse: les Philistins me font la guerre, et Dieu s’est retiré de moi; il ne m’a répondu ni par les prophètes ni par des songes. Et je t’ai appelé pour que tu me fasses connaître ce que je dois faire.
16 Samuel dit: Pourquoi donc me consultes-tu, puisque l’Éternel s’est retiré de toi et qu’il est devenu ton ennemi?
17 L’Éternel te traite comme je te l’avais annoncé de sa part; l’Éternel a déchiré la royauté d’entre tes mains, et l’a donnée à un autre, à David.
18 Tu n’as point obéi à la voix de l’Éternel, et tu n’as point fait sentir à Amalek l’ardeur de sa colère: voilà pourquoi l’Éternel te traite aujourd’hui de cette manière.
19 Et même l’Éternel livrera Israël avec toi entre les mains des Philistins. Demain, toi et tes fils, vous serez avec moi, et l’Éternel livrera le camp d’Israël entre les mains des Philistins.
20 Aussitôt Saül tomba à terre de toute sa hauteur, et les paroles de Samuel le remplirent d’effroi; de plus, il manquait de force, car il n’avait pris aucune nourriture de tout le jour et de toute la nuit.
21 La femme vint auprès de Saül, et, le voyant très effrayé, elle lui dit: Voici, ta servante a écouté ta voix; j’ai exposé ma vie, en obéissant aux paroles que tu m’as dites.
22 Écoute maintenant, toi aussi, la voix de ta servante, et laisse-moi t’offrir un morceau de pain, afin que tu manges pour avoir la force de te mettre en route.
23 Mais il refusa, et dit: Je ne mangerai point. Ses serviteurs et la femme aussi le pressèrent, et il se rendit à leurs instances. Il se leva de terre, et s’assit sur le lit.
24 La femme avait chez elle un veau gras, qu’elle se hâta de tuer; et elle prit de la farine, la pétrit, et en cuisit des pains sans levain.
25 Elle les mit devant Saül et devant ses serviteurs. Et ils mangèrent. Puis, s’étant levés, ils partirent la nuit même.

1 And it came to pass in those days, that the Philistines gathered their armies together for warfare, to fight with Israel. And Achish said unto David, Know thou assuredly, that thou shalt go out with me to battle, thou and thy men.
2 And David said to Achish, Surely thou shalt know what thy servant can do. And Achish said to David, Therefore will I make thee keeper of mine head for ever.
3 Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.
4 And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa.
5 And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled.
6 And when Saul enquired of the Lord, the Lord answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.
8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.
9 And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?
10 And Saul sware to her by the Lord, saying, As the Lord liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.
11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.
12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.
13 And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.
14 And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.
15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.
16 Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the Lord is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?
17 And the Lord hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the Lord hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David:
18 Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the Lord, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the Lord done this thing unto thee this day.
19 Moreover the Lord will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and to morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the Lord also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.
20 Then Saul fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.
21 And the woman came unto Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said unto him, Behold, thine handmaid hath obeyed thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened unto thy words which thou spakest unto me.
22 Now therefore, I pray thee, hearken thou also unto the voice of thine handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength, when thou goest on thy way.
23 But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, compelled him; and he hearkened unto their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat upon the bed.
24 And the woman had a fat calf in the house; and she hasted, and killed it, and took flour, and kneaded it, and did bake unleavened bread thereof:
25 And she brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they did eat. Then they rose up, and went away that night.
