1 Jewoubaal, ki vle di Jedeyon, leve granmaten ansanm ak tout moun ki te avè l’ yo, y’ al moute kan yo bò Sous Awòd la. Moun Madyan yo menm te moute kan pa yo nan tout plenn lan, nan pye mòn More, sou bò nò kan Jedeyon an.
2 Seyè a di Jedeyon konsa: -Ou gen twòp moun avè ou pou m’ kite ou kraze moun Madyan yo! Moun pèp Izrayèl yo va mete nan tèt yo se yo menm ak pwòp fòs kouraj yo ki delivre peyi yo a, yo p’ap vle kwè se mwen menm ki fè sa pou yo.
3 Koulye a, pale ak tout pèp la. Di yo konsa: Si gen moun ki pè, k’ap tranble, yo mèt al fè wout yo lakay yo, kite nou sou mòn Gilboa a. Se konsa venndemil (22.000) moun al lakay yo. Te rete dimil (10.000).
4 Seyè a di Jedeyon ankò: -Gen twòp moun toujou. Fè yo tout desann bò larivyè a. M’a separe yo la pou ou. Moun m’a di ou ki pou ale avè ou yo va ale. Moun m’a di ou ki pa pou ale avè ou yo va rete.
5 Jedeyon fè tout mesye yo desann bò larivyè a. Epi Seyè a di Jedeyon konsa: -Tout moun w’a wè k’ap lape dlo tankou chen, w’a mete yo yon bò, tout moun w’a wè ki va kwoupi pou bwè dlo, w’a mete yo yon lòt bò.
6 Te gen twasan (300) gason ki te pran dlo nan pla men yo epi ki t’ap lape dlo a. Tout rès yo te kwoupi pou bwè dlo.
7 Seyè a di Jedeyon! -Se avèk twasan nèg sa yo ou wè ki te lape dlo a mwen pral delivre nou. Mwen pral lage moun Madyan yo nan men ou. Kite tout lòt yo ale lakay yo.
8 Yo pran tout pwovizyon lòt moun yo te genyen ansanm ak twonpèt yo, yo kenbe yo pou yo. Lèfini, Jedeyon voye tout rès moun pèp Izrayèl yo ale lakay yo. Li fè twasan (300) moun yo rete ak li sou mòn lan. Moun Madyan yo menm te anba nan plenn lan.
9 Jou lannwit sa a, Seyè a di Jedeyon konsa: -Leve non! Desann al atake kan moun Madyan yo. Mwen lage yo nan men ou.
10 Men si ou pè atake, desann bò kan moun Madyan yo ansanm ak Poura, domestik ou a.
11 W’a tande sa y’ap di. Lè sa a, w’a pran kouraj epi w’a desann al atake yo. Se konsa Jedeyon desann ansanm ak Poura, domestik li a, li rive toupre avanpòs kan an.
12 Moun Madyan yo, moun Amalèk yo ak moun k’ap viv nan dezè bò solèy leve yo te kouvri tout plenn lan, tankou desen krikèt vèt nan jaden. Chamo yo te genyen, moun pa t’ ka konte sa, menm jan yo pa ka konte grenn sab bò lanmè.
13 Lè Jedeyon rive, li jwenn yon nonm ki t’ap rakonte yon zanmi l’ yon rèv li te fè. Li t’ap di l’ konsa: -Monchè, mwen fè yon rèv: Mwen wè yon pen won fèt ak farin lòj ki t’ap woule nan mitan kan an. Epi li rive, l’ al frape sou tant lan. Tant lan chavire, li tonbe plat atè.
14 Zanmi an reponn li: -Boul pen won an, se nepe Jedeyon, pitit Joas la, nonm pèp Izrayèl la. Sa pa vle di lòt bagay! Bondye lage moun Madyan yo ak tout lame a nan men l’.
15 Lè Jedeyon tande rèv la ak esplikasyon yo ba li a, li lage kò l’ atè devan Bondye. Apre sa, li leve, li tounen nan kan moun pèp Izrayèl yo. Li di yo: -Ann ale! Seyè a lage kan moun Madyan yo nan men nou.
16 Li pran twasan mesye yo, li fè twa gwoup. Li bay chak moun yon twonpèt ak yon krich vid. Lèfini, li ba yo chak yon bwa chandèl pou mete nan krich la.
17 Epi li di yo: -Se pou tout moun gade sou mwen pou wè sa m’ap fè. Lè n’a rive toupre kan an, tou sa n’a wè m’ fè, n’a fè l’ tou.
18 N’a fè wonn kan an. Lè m’a kònen twonpèt ansanm ak tout moun ki avè m’ yo, nou menm tou n’a kònen twonpèt. Epi n’a rele: Annavan pou Seyè a ak pou Jedeyon!
19 Lè Jedeyon rive toupre kan an ansanm ak san moun ki te avè l’ yo, li te prèt pou menwit. Yo te fenk chanje faksyonnè. Yo pran kònen twonpèt yo epi yo kraze krich yo te gen nan men yo.
20 Tou twa gwoup moun yo pran kònen twonpèt ansanm epi yo kraze krich yo. Yo kenbe bwa chandèl yo nan men gòch yo, twonpèt yo nan men dwat yo pou yo ka kònen yo, epi yo rele: -Ann al goumen pou Seyè a ak pou Jedeyon!
21 Yo te kanpe fè wonn kan an, chak moun nan plas yo. Lè sa a tout moun nan kan an pran kouri met deyò, yo t’ap rele byen fò.
22 Antan twasan moun Jedeyon yo t’ap kònen twonpèt yo, Seyè a menm t’ap fè moun Madyan yo yonn ap goumen ak lòt. Sa ki chape yo pran kouri nan direksyon Bèt-Chita bò Serera rive jouk bò lavil Abèl Meola, toupre Tabat.
23 Lè sa a yo rele tout gason nan branch fanmi Neftali a, nan branch fanmi Asè a ak nan tout branch fanmi Manase a, epi yo pran kouri dèyè moun Madyan yo.
24 Jedeyon menm voye mesaje nan tout mòn Efrayim yo pou di mesye yo: -Desann, vin goumen ak moun Madyan yo. Al bare yo bò dlo a sou tout longè larivyè Jouden an jouk Bèt-Bara pou anpeche yo pase. Tout moun Efrayim yo reyini vre. Epi y’ al bare wout la sou bò dlo a sou tout longè larivyè Jouden an jouk Bèt-Bara.
25 Yo mete men sou Orèb ak Zeyèb, de nan chèf moun Madyan yo. Yo touye Orèb sou Wòch Orèb la, Zeyèb nan basen rezen Zeyèb la. Apre sa, yo kouri toujou dèyè moun Madyan yo. Lèfini, yo pote tèt Orèb ak tèt Zeyèb bay Jedeyon ki te sou bò solèy leve larivyè Jouden an.

1 Jerubbaal, qui est Gédéon, et tout le peuple qui était avec lui, se levèrent de bon matin, et campèrent près de la source de Harod. Le camp de Madian était au nord de Gédéon, vers la colline de Moré, dans la vallée.
2 L’Éternel dit à Gédéon: Le peuple que tu as avec toi est trop nombreux pour que je livre Madian entre ses mains; il pourrait en tirer gloire contre moi, et dire: C’est ma main qui m’a délivré.
3 Publie donc ceci aux oreilles du peuple: Que celui qui est craintif et qui a peur s’en retourne et s’éloigne de la montagne de Galaad. Vingt-deux mille hommes parmi le peuple s’en retournèrent, et il en resta dix mille.
4 L’Éternel dit à Gédéon: Le peuple est encore trop nombreux. Fais-les descendre vers l’eau, et là je t’en ferai le triage; celui dont je te dirai: Que celui-ci aille avec toi, ira avec toi; et celui dont je te dirai: Que celui-ci n’aille pas avec toi, n’ira pas avec toi.
5 Gédéon fit descendre le peuple vers l’eau, et l’Éternel dit à Gédéon: Tous ceux qui laperont l’eau avec la langue comme lape le chien, tu les sépareras de tous ceux qui se mettront à genoux pour boire.
6 Ceux qui lapèrent l’eau en la portant à la bouche avec leur main furent au nombre de trois cents hommes, et tout le reste du peuple se mit à genoux pour boire.
7 Et l’Éternel dit à Gédéon: C’est par les trois cents hommes qui ont lapé, que je vous sauverai et que je livrerai Madian entre tes mains. Que tout le reste du peuple s’en aille chacun chez soi.
8 On prit les vivres du peuple et ses trompettes. Puis Gédéon renvoya tous les hommes d’Israël chacun dans sa tente, et il retint les trois cents hommes. Le camp de Madian était au-dessous de lui dans la vallée.
9 L’Éternel dit à Gédéon pendant la nuit: Lève-toi, descends au camp, car je l’ai livré entre tes mains.
10 Si tu crains de descendre, descends-y avec Pura, ton serviteur.
11 Tu écouteras ce qu’ils diront, et après cela tes mains seront fortifiées: descends donc au camp. Il descendit avec Pura, son serviteur, jusqu’aux avant-postes du camp.
12 Madian, Amalek, et tous les fils de l’Orient, étaient répandus dans la vallée comme une multitude de sauterelles, et leurs chameaux étaient innombrables comme le sable qui est sur le bord de la mer.
13 Gédéon arriva; et voici, un homme racontait à son camarade un songe. Il disait: J’ai eu un songe; et voici, un gâteau de pain d’orge roulait dans le camp de Madian; il est venu heurter jusqu’à la tente, et elle est tombée; il l’a retournée sens dessus dessous, et elle a été renversée.
14 Son camarade répondit, et dit: Ce n’est pas autre chose que l’épée de Gédéon, fils de Joas, homme d’Israël; Dieu a livré entre ses mains Madian et tout le camp.
15 Lorsque Gédéon eut entendu le récit du songe et son explication, il se prosterna, revint au camp d’Israël, et dit: Levez-vous, car l’Éternel a livré entre vos mains le camp de Madian.
16 Il divisa en trois corps les trois cents hommes, et il leur remit à tous des trompettes et des cruches vides, avec des flambeaux dans les cruches.
17 Il leur dit: Vous me regarderez et vous ferez comme moi. Dès que j’aborderai le camp, vous ferez ce que je ferai;
18 et quand je sonnerai de la trompette, moi et tous ceux qui seront avec moi, vous sonnerez aussi de la trompette tout autour du camp, et vous direz: Pour l’Éternel et pour Gédéon!
19 Gédéon et les cent hommes qui étaient avec lui arrivèrent aux abords du camp au commencement de la veille du milieu, comme on venait de placer les gardes. Ils sonnèrent de la trompette, et brisèrent les cruches qu’ils avaient à la main.
20 Les trois corps sonnèrent de la trompette, et brisèrent les cruches; ils saisirent de la main gauche les flambeaux et de la main droite les trompettes pour sonner, et ils s’écrièrent: Épée pour l’Éternel et pour Gédéon!
21 Ils restèrent chacun à sa place autour du camp, et tout le camp se mit à courir, à pousser des cris, et à prendre la fuite.
22 Les trois cents hommes sonnèrent encore de la trompette; et, dans tout le camp, l’Éternel leur fit tourner l’épée les uns contre les autres. Le camp s’enfuit jusqu’à Beth Schitta vers Tseréra, jusqu’au bord d’Abel Mehola près de Tabbath.
23 Les hommes d’Israël se rassemblèrent, ceux de Nephthali, d’Aser et de tout Manassé, et ils poursuivirent Madian.
24 Gédéon envoya des messagers dans toute la montagne d’Éphraïm, pour dire: Descendez à la rencontre de Madian, et coupez-leur le passage des eaux jusqu’à Beth Bara et celui du Jourdain. Tous les hommes d’Éphraïm se rassemblèrent et ils s’emparèrent du passage des eaux jusqu’à Beth Bara et de celui du Jourdain.
25 Ils saisirent deux chefs de Madian, Oreb et Zeeb; ils tuèrent Oreb au rocher d’Oreb, et ils tuèrent Zeeb au pressoir de Zeeb. Ils poursuivirent Madian, et ils apportèrent les têtes d’Oreb et de Zeeb à Gédéon de l’autre côté du Jourdain.

1 Then Jerubbaal, who is Gideon, and all the people that were with him, rose up early, and pitched beside the well of Harod: so that the host of the Midianites were on the north side of them, by the hill of Moreh, in the valley.
2 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.
3 Now therefore go to, proclaim in the ears of the people, saying, Whosoever is fearful and afraid, let him return and depart early from mount Gilead. And there returned of the people twenty and two thousand; and there remained ten thousand.
4 And the Lord said unto Gideon, The people are yet too many; bring them down unto the water, and I will try them for thee there: and it shall be, that of whom I say unto thee, This shall go with thee, the same shall go with thee; and of whomsoever I say unto thee, This shall not go with thee, the same shall not go.
5 So he brought down the people unto the water: and the Lord said unto Gideon, Every one that lappeth of the water with his tongue, as a dog lappeth, him shalt thou set by himself; likewise every one that boweth down upon his knees to drink.
6 And the number of them that lapped, putting their hand to their mouth, were three hundred men: but all the rest of the people bowed down upon their knees to drink water.
7 And the Lord said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand: and let all the other people go every man unto his place.
8 So the people took victuals in their hand, and their trumpets: and he sent all the rest of Israel every man unto his tent, and retained those three hundred men: and the host of Midian was beneath him in the valley.
9 And it came to pass the same night, that the Lord said unto him, Arise, get thee down unto the host; for I have delivered it into thine hand.
10 But if thou fear to go down, go thou with Phurah thy servant down to the host:
11 And thou shalt hear what they say; and afterward shall thine hands be strengthened to go down unto the host. Then went he down with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the host.
12 And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the sea side for multitude.
13 And when Gideon was come, behold, there was a man that told a dream unto his fellow, and said, Behold, I dreamed a dream, and, lo, a cake of barley bread tumbled into the host of Midian, and came unto a tent, and smote it that it fell, and overturned it, that the tent lay along.
14 And his fellow answered and said, This is nothing else save the sword of Gideon the son of Joash, a man of Israel: for into his hand hath God delivered Midian, and all the host.
15 And it was so, when Gideon heard the telling of the dream, and the interpretation thereof, that he worshipped, and returned into the host of Israel, and said, Arise; for the Lord hath delivered into your hand the host of Midian.
16 And he divided the three hundred men into three companies, and he put a trumpet in every man’s hand, with empty pitchers, and lamps within the pitchers.
17 And he said unto them, Look on me, and do likewise: and, behold, when I come to the outside of the camp, it shall be that, as I do, so shall ye do.
18 When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the Lord, and of Gideon.
19 So Gideon, and the hundred men that were with him, came unto the outside of the camp in the beginning of the middle watch; and they had but newly set the watch: and they blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers that were in their hands.
20 And the three companies blew the trumpets, and brake the pitchers, and held the lamps in their left hands, and the trumpets in their right hands to blow withal: and they cried, The sword of the Lord, and of Gideon.
21 And they stood every man in his place round about the camp; and all the host ran, and cried, and fled.
22 And the three hundred blew the trumpets, and the Lord set every man’s sword against his fellow, even throughout all the host: and the host fled to Bethshittah in Zererath, and to the border of Abelmeholah, unto Tabbath.
23 And the men of Israel gathered themselves together out of Naphtali, and out of Asher, and out of all Manasseh, and pursued after the Midianites.
24 And Gideon sent messengers throughout all mount Ephraim, saying, come down against the Midianites, and take before them the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan. Then all the men of Ephraim gathered themselves together, and took the waters unto Bethbarah and Jordan.
25 And they took two princes of the Midianites, Oreb and Zeeb; and they slew Oreb upon the rock Oreb, and Zeeb they slew at the winepress of Zeeb, and pursued Midian, and brought the heads of Oreb and Zeeb to Gideon on the other side Jordan.
