Esdras 3
1 Lè pou setyèm mwa lanne jwif yo rive, moun pèp Izrayèl yo te gen tan chita lakay yo nan lavil yo. Lè sa a, yo tout yo sanble lavil Jerizalèm.
2 Jozye, pitit gason Jeozadak la, ak tout prèt parèy li yo leve ansanm ak Zowobabèl, pitit gason Chealtyèl la, ak tout fanmi l’ yo, yo rebati lotèl Bondye pèp Izrayèl la pou yo te ka boule ofrann bèt sou li, dapre regleman ki ekri nan lalwa Moyiz, sèvitè Bondye a.
3 Atout yo te pè lòt moun yo ki t’ap viv nan peyi a, yo rebati lotèl la menm kote li te ye anvan an. Epi yo tanmen boule bèt sou li pou Seyè a, chak maten ak chak aswè.
4 Yo fete fèt Joupa yo, dapre sa ki ekri a. Chak jou yo te ofri kantite bèt yo te dwe boule pou jou sa a.
5 Apre sa, yo ofri bèt pou yo boule chak jou a, bèt pou yo boule chak fèt lalin nouvèl yo, ak bèt pou tout lòt jou y’ap fè fèt pou Seyè a, ansanm ak tout lòt ofrann moun yo vle fè pou Seyè a san se pa li ki mande yo fè l’.
6 Pèp la pa t’ ankò mete men nan tanp lan, men depi premye jou setyèm mwa a yo te konmanse ap boule bèt nèt pou Seyè a.
7 Pèp la bay lajan pou peye bòs ki t’ap taye wòch yo ak bòs chapant yo. Yo bay pwovizyon, bwason ak lwil pou yo voye lavil Tir ak lavil Sidon pou bwa sèd y’ap achte nan men moun la yo. Bwa yo te soti peyi Liban, yo pase sou lanmè, yo debake Jope. Yo fè tou sa dapre otorizasyon Siris, wa peyi Pès la, te ba yo.
8 Te gen ennan yon mwa depi yo te rive lavil Jerizalèm sou anplasman tanp Seyè a, lè Zowobabèl, pitit gason Chealtyèl la, ak Jozye, pitit gason Jeozadak la, te mete men nan travay la ansanm ak rès moun pèp la, prèt yo ak moun Levi yo, avèk tout moun ki te tounen lavil Jerizalèm. Yo pran tout moun Levi ki te gen ventan osinon plis, yo mete yo anchaj pou dirije tout travay ki t’ap fèt nan tanp Seyè a.
9 Se konsa Jozye, pitit gason l’ yo ak lòt fanmi li yo, ansanm ak Kadmyèl ak pitit gason l’ yo, moun fanmi Jida, mete tèt yo ansanm, yo pran reskonsablite travay ki t’ap fèt nan tanp Bondye a.
10 Lè bòs mason yo te konmanse ak premye fondasyon tanp Seyè a, prèt yo avèk gwo rad yo sou yo, twonpèt yo nan men yo, vin pran plas yo ansanm ak moun Levi branch fanmi Asaf yo ak tanbouren yo nan men yo. Yo te fè lwanj Seyè a dapre regleman David, wa peyi Izrayèl la, te bay depi lontan.
11 Yo t’ap fè lwanj Seyè a, yo t’ap di l’ mèsi, yo t’ap chante yonn apre lòt: Ala bon Seyè a bon! Li p’ap janm sispann renmen pèp Izrayèl la Tout pèp la t’ap rele byen fò. Yo t’ap fè lwanj Seyè a, paske yo t’ap mete men nan travay fondasyon tanp Seyè a.
12 Te gen anpil prèt, anpil moun Levi ak anpil chèf fanmi ki te fin vye granmoun. Yo te konnen ansyen tanp lan anvan li te kraze. Lè yo wè fondasyon tanp lan t’ap moute ankò devan je yo, genyen ki t’ap kriye ak dlo nan je. Men, anpil lòt t’ap rele sitèlman yo te kontan.
13 Men, pesonn pa t’ ka di kilès ki t’ap rele ak kè kontan, kilès ki t’ap plede kriye ak dlo nan je, paske tout pèp la t’ap rele ansanm byen fò. Moun te ka tande yo byen lwen.

1 Le septième mois arriva, et les enfants d’Israël étaient dans leurs villes. Alors le peuple s’assembla comme un seul homme à Jérusalem.
2 Josué, fils de Jotsadak, avec ses frères les sacrificateurs, et Zorobabel, fils de Schealthiel, avec ses frères, se levèrent et bâtirent l’autel du Dieu d’Israël, pour y offrir des holocaustes, selon ce qui est écrit dans la loi de Moïse, homme de Dieu.
3 Ils rétablirent l’autel sur ses fondements, quoiqu’ils eussent à craindre les peuples du pays, et ils y offrirent des holocaustes à l’Éternel, les holocaustes du matin et du soir.
4 Ils célébrèrent la fête des tabernacles, comme il est écrit, et ils offrirent jour par jour des holocaustes, selon le nombre ordonné pour chaque jour.
5 Après cela, ils offrirent l’holocauste perpétuel, les holocaustes des nouvelles lunes et de toutes les solennités consacrées à l’Éternel, et ceux de quiconque faisait des offrandes volontaires à l’Éternel.
6 Dès le premier jour du septième mois, ils commencèrent à offrir à l’Éternel des holocaustes. Cependant les fondements du temple de l’Éternel n’étaient pas encore posés.
7 On donna de l’argent aux tailleurs de pierres et aux charpentiers, et des vivres, des boissons et de l’huile aux Sidoniens et aux Tyriens, pour qu’ils amenassent par mer jusqu’à Japho des bois de cèdre du Liban, suivant l’autorisation qu’on avait eue de Cyrus, roi de Perse.
8 La seconde année depuis leur arrivée à la maison de Dieu à Jérusalem, au second mois, Zorobabel, fils de Schealthiel, Josué, fils de Jotsadak, avec le reste de leurs frères les sacrificateurs et les Lévites, et tous ceux qui étaient revenus de la captivité à Jérusalem, se mirent à l’oeuvre et chargèrent les Lévites de vingt ans et au-dessus de surveiller les travaux de la maison de l’Éternel.
9 Et Josué, avec ses fils et ses frères, Kadmiel, avec ses fils, fils de Juda, les fils de Hénadad, avec leurs fils et leurs frères les Lévites, se préparèrent tous ensemble à surveiller ceux qui travaillaient à la maison de Dieu.
10 Lorsque les ouvriers posèrent les fondements du temple de l’Éternel, on fit assister les sacrificateurs en costume, avec les trompettes, et les Lévites, fils d’Asaph, avec les cymbales, afin qu’ils célébrassent l’Éternel, d’après les ordonnances de David, roi d’Israël.
11 Ils chantaient, célébrant et louant l’Éternel par ces paroles: Car il est bon, car sa miséricorde pour Israël dure à toujours! Et tout le peuple poussait de grands cris de joie en célébrant l’Éternel, parce qu’on posait les fondements de la maison de l’Éternel.
12 Mais plusieurs des sacrificateurs et des Lévites, et des chefs de famille âgés, qui avaient vu la première maison, pleuraient à grand bruit pendant qu’on posait sous leurs yeux les fondements de cette maison. Beaucoup d’autres faisaient éclater leur joie par des cris,
13 en sorte qu’on ne pouvait distinguer le bruit des cris de joie d’avec le bruit des pleurs parmi le peuple, car le peuple poussait de grands cris dont le son s’entendait au loin.

1 And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.
2 Then stood up Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and his brethren the priests, and Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and his brethren, and builded the altar of the God of Israel, to offer burnt offerings thereon, as it is written in the law of Moses the man of God.
3 And they set the altar upon his bases; for fear was upon them because of the people of those countries: and they offered burnt offerings thereon unto the Lord, even burnt offerings morning and evening.
4 They kept also the feast of tabernacles, as it is written, and offered the daily burnt offerings by number, according to the custom, as the duty of every day required;
5 And afterward offered the continual burnt offering, both of the new moons, and of all the set feasts of the Lord that were consecrated, and of every one that willingly offered a freewill offering unto the Lord.
6 From the first day of the seventh month began they to offer burnt offerings unto the Lord. But the foundation of the temple of the Lord was not yet laid.
7 They gave money also unto the masons, and to the carpenters; and meat, and drink, and oil, unto them of Zidon, and to them of Tyre, to bring cedar trees from Lebanon to the sea of Joppa, according to the grant that they had of Cyrus king of Persia.
8 Now in the second year of their coming unto the house of God at Jerusalem, in the second month, began Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, and Jeshua the son of Jozadak, and the remnant of their brethren the priests and the Levites, and all they that were come out of the captivity unto Jerusalem; and appointed the Levites, from twenty years old and upward, to set forward the work of the house of the Lord.
9 Then stood Jeshua with his sons and his brethren, Kadmiel and his sons, the sons of Judah, together, to set forward the workmen in the house of God: the sons of Henadad, with their sons and their brethren the Levites.
10 And when the builders laid the foundation of the temple of the Lord, they set the priests in their apparel with trumpets, and the Levites the sons of Asaph with cymbals, to praise the Lord, after the ordinance of David king of Israel.
11 And they sang together by course in praising and giving thanks unto the Lord; because he is good, for his mercy endureth for ever toward Israel. And all the people shouted with a great shout, when they praised the Lord, because the foundation of the house of the Lord was laid.
12 But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, who were ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:
13 So that the people could not discern the noise of the shout of joy from the noise of the weeping of the people: for the people shouted with a loud shout, and the noise was heard afar off.
