2 Lè jou repo a rive, li kòmanse moutre moun ki te nan sinagòg la anpil bagay. Foul moun ki t’ap koute l’ yo te sezi anpil, yo t’ap di konsa: -Kote l’ jwenn tout bagay sa yo? Kilès ki ba l’ konesans sa yo? Kouman li fè fè tout mirak sa yo?
3 Se pa ti bòs chapant pitit Mari a? Se pa frè Jak, Jòz, Jid ak Simon an? Apa tout sè l’ yo la avèk nou? Se sa ki fè li te tounen pou yo yon okazyon tonbe nan peche.
4 Lè sa a, Jezi di yo: -Yon pwofèt jwenn respè toupatou, esepte nan peyi l’, lakay li ak nan fanmi li.
5 Se konsa li pa t’ kapab fè okenn mirak la, esepte pou de ou twa moun malad. Li te mete men sou tèt yo, li geri yo.
6 Jezi te sezi wè jan yo pa t’ kwè nan li. Apre sa, Jezi te mache nan tout ti bouk nan vwazinaj la. Li t’ap moutre moun yo anpil bagay.
7 Lè sa a, Jezi rele douz disip li yo, li voye yo de pa de. Li ba yo pouvwa chase move lespri.
8 Li pase yo lòd sa a: -Pa pran anyen pou vwayaj la, esepte yon baton. Pa pote ni pen, ni sak. Pa mete lajan nan pòch nou.
9 Nou mèt mete sapat nan pye nou. Men, pa mete de rad sou nou.
10 Epi li di yo ankò: -Lè nou rive nan yon lavil, rete nan yon sèl kay, kay kote y’a resevwa nou an, jouk nou pati.
11 Men, si nou rive yon kote nou wè pesonn pa vle resevwa nou, pesonn pa vle koute nou, ale fè wout nou. Souke pousyè pye nou. Konsa, yo p’ap ka di nou pa t’ avèti yo.
12 Douz disip yo pati; y’ al mache bay nouvèl la pou tout moun tounen vin jwenn Bondye.
13 Yo te chase anpil move lespri. Yo te pase lwil sou anpil moun malad, yo te geri yo.
14 Wa Ewòd te tande pale sou Jezi, paske yo t’ap nonmen non l’ toupatou. Gen moun ki t’ap di: -Se Jan Batis ki leve pami mò yo, se poutèt sa li kapab fè tout mirak sa yo.
15 Gen lòt ki t’ap di tou: -Se Eli. Epi gen lòt ankò ki t’ap di: -Se yon pwofèt tankou ansyen pwofèt yo.
16 Men, lè Ewòd tande sa, li di konsa: -Se Jan wi. Mwen te fè koupe tèt li. Men, li tounen vivan ankò.
17 Se Ewòd menm ki te voye arete Jan. Li te fè mete l’ nan prizon poutèt Ewodyad. Ewòd te pran Ewodyad, madanm Filip, frè li, pou madanm li.
18 Se konsa, Jan te di li: -Ou pa gen dwa pran madanm frè ou pou madanm ou.
19 Ewodyad te kenbe Jan nan kè. Li te vle fè yo touye li.
20 Men, li pa t’ kapab, paske Ewòd pou tèt pa l’ te gen yon krentif pou Jan. Li te konnen Jan se yon nonm dwat ki t’ap viv pou Bondye. Se sak fè li te pwoteje li. Li te renmen tande l’ pale tou, menm si apre sa kè l’ te boulvèse.
21 Jou Ewodyad t’ap tann lan vin rive. Se te jou fèt Ewòd. Jou sa a, Ewòd te fè yon fèt pou tout zotobre nan gouvènman l’ lan, ansanm ak gwo chèf nan lame a ak lòt grannèg nan peyi Galile a.
22 Pitit fi Ewodyad la antre nan sal resepsyon an: li danse, li danse. Sa te fè Ewòd ak envite l’ yo plezi anpil. Wa a di madmwazèl la konsa: -Mande m’ nenpòt sa ou vle, m’ap ba ou li.
23 Ewòd sèmante ba li, li di l’ konsa: -Tou sa ou mande, m’ap ba ou li, te mèt mwatye nan peyi m’ap gouvènen an.
24 Madmwazèl la soti, li al di manman li: -Kisa m’ ta mande? Manman an reponn li: -Mande tèt Jan Batis.
25 Jenn fi a prese tounen kote wa a, li fè l’ demann sa a: -Mwen ta vle pou ou ban mwen tèt Jan Batis koulye a, nan yon plato.
26 Kè wa a kase. Men, li pa t’ kapab di li non ankò, akòz gwo sèman li te fin fè devan tout envite yo.
27 Menm lè a, li voye yon gad avèk lòd pou li al chache tèt Jan Batis pote vini.
28 Gad la koupe tèt Jan Batis nan prizon an; li pote l’ vini nan yon plato. Li bay madmwazèl la tèt la; madmwazèl la menm pote l’ bay manman li.
29 Lè patizan Jan yo tande sa, yo vin pran kò a, yo mete l’ nan yon kavo.
30 Lè apòt yo tounen vin jwenn Jezi, yo rakonte l’ tou sa yo te fè ak tou sa yo te di.
31 Lè sa a, te sitèlman gen moun ki t’ap ale vini, Jezi ak disip li yo pa t’ menm gen tan pou yo manje. Se poutèt sa Jezi di disip li yo: -Ann al avè m’ yon kote ki pa gen moun pou nou ka pran yon ti repo.
32 Epi, yo pati pou kont yo nan yon kannòt pou y’ ale yon kote ki pa gen moun.
33 Men, anpil moun te wè lè y’ ale, yo te rekonèt yo. Se konsa, yo kouri soti nan tout bouk yo, yo gen tan rive kote Jezi taprale avèk disip li yo anvan li.
34 Lè Jezi rive pou l’ debake sot nan kannòt la, li wè tout bann moun yo. Kè l’ fè l’ mal pou yo, paske yo te tankou yon bann mouton san gadò. Lamenm, li tanmen esplike yo anpil bagay.
35 Lè li te kòmanse fè ta, disip yo pwoche bò kote Jezi, yo di li: -Li fin ta, wi. Pa gen moun rete bò isit la.
36 Voye moun yo ale non pou yo ka achte manje nan bouk yo.
37 Jezi reponn yo: -Poukisa nou pa ba yo manje nou menm pito? Disip yo mande li: -Ou ta vle poun al achte pen pou mil (1.000) goud poun bay tout moun sa yo manje? Jezi reponn yo:
38 -Konbe pen nou gen la a? Ale wè non. Lè yo fin jwenn konbe pen yo genyen an, yo di l’ konsa: -Nou gen senk pen ak de pwason.
39 Lè sa a, Jezi pase lòd pou disip li yo fè tout moun chita atè sou zèb la, ti gwoup bò isit, ti gwoup bò la.
40 Moun yo menm chita pa ranje san moun, ranje senkant moun.
41 Apre sa, Jezi pran senk pen yo ak de pwason yo, li leve je l’ nan syèl la, li di Bondye mèsi. Li kase pen yo an moso, li renmèt yo bay disip li yo pou yo mache bay moun yo. Li fè menm bagay ak de pwason yo.
42 Tout moun manje vant plen.
43 Disip yo ranmase tout ti moso pen yo ansanm ak rès pwason yo. Yo plen douz panyen pote ale.
44 Te gen senkmil (5.000) moun antou ki te jwenn pen pou yo manje.
45 Touswit apre sa, Jezi fè disip li yo moute nan yon kannòt, li voye yo devan lòt bò lanmè a, nan direksyon Betsayda. Jezi menm te rete dèyè pou l’ voye foul moun yo ale.
46 Apre li fin ranvwaye yo, li al lapriyè sou yon ti mòn.
47 Lè solèy fin kouche, kannòt la te nan mitan lanmè a toujou. Jezi te pou kont li atè.
48 Li wè disip yo te gen anpil traka pou yo naje zaviwon yo, paske van an te kontrè pou yo. Vè twazè nan maten, Jezi pran mache sou dlo lanmè a pou li al jwenn disip yo. Li te prèt pou depase yo.
49 Lè yo wè l’ ap mache sou dlo a, yo te kwè se te yon revenan. Yo pran rele.
50 Yo tout yo te wè li, yo tout te pè. Menm lè a, Jezi pale avèk yo, li di yo konsa: -Pran tèt nou non. Se mwen menm. Nou pa bezwen pè.
51 Li moute bò kote yo nan kannòt la, van an vin tonbe. Se pa ti sezi disip yo te sezi.
52 Yo pa t’ konprann sans mirak pen an, paske lespri yo te bouche toujou.
53 Yo fin travèse lanmè a, yo fè tè toupre lavil Jenezarèt. Yo mare kannòt la atè.
54 Kou yo soti nan kannòt la, lamenm moun yo rekonèt Jezi.
55 Pèp la kouri nan tout peyi a; yo pote malad yo tou kouche sou nat ba li kote yo tande li te ye a.
56 Toupatou kote Jezi te rive, kit nan bouk, kit nan lavil ou andeyò, yo te mete malad yo sou plas piblik, yo te mande Jezi pou l’ te kite yo manyen bò rad li ase. Tout moun ki te manyen rad li te geri.

1 Jésus partit de là, et se rendit dans sa patrie. Ses disciples le suivirent.
2 Quand le sabbat fut venu, il se mit à enseigner dans la synagogue. Beaucoup de gens qui l’entendirent étaient étonnés et disaient: D’où lui viennent ces choses? Quelle est cette sagesse qui lui a été donnée, et comment de tels miracles se font-ils par ses mains?
3 N’est-ce pas le charpentier, le fils de Marie, le frère de Jacques, de Joses, de Jude et de Simon? et ses soeurs ne sont-elles pas ici parmi nous? Et il était pour eux une occasion de chute.
4 Mais Jésus leur dit: Un prophète n’est méprisé que dans sa patrie, parmi ses parents, et dans sa maison.
5 Il ne put faire là aucun miracle, si ce n’est qu’il imposa les mains à quelques malades et les guérit.
6 Et il s’étonnait de leur incrédulité. Jésus parcourait les villages d’alentour, en enseignant.
7 Alors il appela les douze, et il commença à les envoyer deux à deux, en leur donnant pouvoir sur les esprits impurs.
8 Il leur prescrivit de ne rien prendre pour le voyage, si ce n’est un bâton; de n’avoir ni pain, ni sac, ni monnaie dans la ceinture;
9 de chausser des sandales, et de ne pas revêtir deux tuniques.
10 Puis il leur dit: Dans quelque maison que vous entriez, restez-y jusqu’à ce que vous partiez de ce lieu.
11 Et, s’il y a quelque part des gens qui ne vous reçoivent ni ne vous écoutent, retirez-vous de là, et secouez la poussière de vos pieds, afin que cela leur serve de témoignage.
12 Ils partirent, et ils prêchèrent la repentance.
13 Ils chassaient beaucoup de démons, et ils oignaient d’huile beaucoup de malades et les guérissaient.
14 Le roi Hérode entendit parler de Jésus, dont le nom était devenu célèbre, et il dit: Jean Baptiste est ressuscité des morts, et c’est pour cela qu’il se fait par lui des miracles.
15 D’autres disaient: C’est Élie. Et d’autres disaient: C’est un prophète comme l’un des prophètes.
16 Mais Hérode, en apprenant cela, disait: Ce Jean que j’ai fait décapiter, c’est lui qui est ressuscité.
17 Car Hérode lui-même avait fait arrêter Jean, et l’avait fait lier en prison, à cause d’Hérodias, femme de Philippe, son frère, parce qu’il l’avait épousée,
18 et que Jean lui disait: Il ne t’est pas permis d’avoir la femme de ton frère.
19 Hérodias était irritée contre Jean, et voulait le faire mourir.
20 Mais elle ne le pouvait; car Hérode craignait Jean, le connaissant pour un homme juste et saint; il le protégeait, et, après l’avoir entendu, il était souvent perplexe, et l’écoutait avec plaisir.
21 Cependant, un jour propice arriva, lorsque Hérode, à l’anniversaire de sa naissance, donna un festin à ses grands, aux chefs militaires et aux principaux de la Galilée.
22 La fille d’Hérodias entra dans la salle; elle dansa, et plut à Hérode et à ses convives. Le roi dit à la jeune fille: Demande-moi ce que tu voudras, et je te le donnerai.
23 Il ajouta avec serment: Ce que tu me demanderas, je te le donnerai, fût-ce la moitié de mon royaume.
24 Étant sortie, elle dit à sa mère: Que demanderais-je? Et sa mère répondit: La tête de Jean Baptiste.
25 Elle s’empressa de rentrer aussitôt vers le roi, et lui fit cette demande: Je veux que tu me donnes à l’instant, sur un plat, la tête de Jean Baptiste.
26 Le roi fut attristé; mais, à cause de ses serments et des convives, il ne voulut pas lui faire un refus.
27 Il envoya sur-le-champ un garde, avec ordre d’apporter la tête de Jean Baptiste.
28 Le garde alla décapiter Jean dans la prison, et apporta la tête sur un plat. Il la donna à la jeune fille, et la jeune fille la donna à sa mère.
29 Les disciples de Jean, ayant appris cela, vinrent prendre son corps, et le mirent dans un sépulcre.
30 Les apôtres, s’étant rassemblés auprès de Jésus, lui racontèrent tout ce qu’ils avaient fait et tout ce qu’ils avaient enseigné.
31 Jésus leur dit: Venez à l’écart dans un lieu désert, et reposez-vous un peu. Car il y avait beaucoup d’allants et de venants, et ils n’avaient même pas le temps de manger.
32 Ils partirent donc dans une barque, pour aller à l’écart dans un lieu désert.
33 Beaucoup de gens les virent s’en aller et les reconnurent, et de toutes les villes on accourut à pied et on les devança au lieu où ils se rendaient.
34 Quand il sortit de la barque, Jésus vit une grande foule, et fut ému de compassion pour eux, parce qu’ils étaient comme des brebis qui n’ont point de berger; et il se mit à leur enseigner beaucoup de choses.
35 Comme l’heure était déjà avancée, ses disciples s’approchèrent de lui, et dirent: Ce lieu est désert, et l’heure est déjà avancée;
36 renvoie-les, afin qu’ils aillent dans les campagnes et dans les villages des environs, pour s’acheter de quoi manger.
37 Jésus leur répondit: Donnez-leur vous-mêmes à manger. Mais ils lui dirent: Irions-nous acheter des pains pour deux cents deniers, et leur donnerions-nous à manger?
38 Et il leur dit: Combien avez-vous de pains? Allez voir. Ils s’en assurèrent, et répondirent: Cinq, et deux poissons.
39 Alors il leur commanda de les faire tous asseoir par groupes sur l’herbe verte,
40 et ils s’assirent par rangées de cent et de cinquante.
41 Il prit les cinq pains et les deux poissons et, levant les yeux vers le ciel, il rendit grâces. Puis, il rompit les pains, et les donna aux disciples, afin qu’ils les distribuassent à la foule. Il partagea aussi les deux poissons entre tous.
42 Tous mangèrent et furent rassasiés,
43 et l’on emporta douze paniers pleins de morceaux de pain et de ce qui restait des poissons.
44 Ceux qui avaient mangé les pains étaient cinq mille hommes.
45 Aussitôt après, il obligea ses disciples à monter dans la barque et à passer avant lui de l’autre côté, vers Bethsaïda, pendant que lui-même renverrait la foule.
46 Quand il l’eut renvoyée, il s’en alla sur la montagne, pour prier.
47 Le soir étant venu, la barque était au milieu de la mer, et Jésus était seul à terre.
48 Il vit qu’ils avaient beaucoup de peine à ramer; car le vent leur était contraire. A la quatrième veille de la nuit environ, il alla vers eux, marchant sur la mer, et il voulait les dépasser.
49 Quand ils le virent marcher sur la mer, ils crurent que c’étaient un fantôme, et ils poussèrent des cris;
50 car ils le voyaient tous, et ils étaient troublés. Aussitôt Jésus leur parla, et leur dit: Rassurez-vous, c’est moi, n’ayez pas peur!
51 Puis il monta vers eux dans la barque, et le vent cessa. Ils furent en eux-même tout stupéfaits et remplis d’étonnement;
52 car ils n’avaient pas compris le miracle des pains, parce que leur coeur était endurci.
53 Après avoir traversé la mer, ils vinrent dans le pays de Génésareth, et ils abordèrent.
54 Quand ils furent sortis de la barque, les gens, ayant aussitôt reconnu Jésus,
55 parcoururent tous les environs, et l’on se mit à apporter les malades sur des lits, partout où l’on apprenait qu’il était.
56 En quelque lieu qu’il arrivât, dans les villages, dans les villes ou dans les campagnes, on mettait les malades sur les places publiques, et on le priait de leur permettre seulement de toucher le bord de son vêtement. Et tous ceux qui le touchaient étaient guéris.

1 And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.
2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
3 Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.
4 But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.
5 And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them.
6 And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
7 And he called unto him the twelve, and began to send them forth by two and two; and gave them power over unclean spirits;
8 And commanded them that they should take nothing for their journey, save a staff only; no scrip, no bread, no money in their purse:
9 But be shod with sandals; and not put on two coats.
10 And he said unto them, In what place soever ye enter into an house, there abide till ye depart from that place.
11 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.
12 And they went out, and preached that men should repent.
13 And they cast out many devils, and anointed with oil many that were sick, and healed them.
14 And king Herod heard of him; (for his name was spread abroad:) and he said, That John the Baptist was risen from the dead, and therefore mighty works do shew forth themselves in him.
15 Others said, That it is Elias. And others said, That it is a prophet, or as one of the prophets.
16 But when Herod heard thereof, he said, It is John, whom I beheaded: he is risen from the dead.
17 For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for Herodias’ sake, his brother Philip’s wife: for he had married her.
18 For John had said unto Herod, It is not lawful for thee to have thy brother’s wife.
19 Therefore Herodias had a quarrel against him, and would have killed him; but she could not:
20 For Herod feared John, knowing that he was a just man and an holy, and observed him; and when he heard him, he did many things, and heard him gladly.
21 And when a convenient day was come, that Herod on his birthday made a supper to his lords, high captains, and chief estates of Galilee;
22 And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee.
23 And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom.
24 And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
25 And she came in straightway with haste unto the king, and asked, saying, I will that thou give me by and by in a charger the head of John the Baptist.
26 And the king was exceeding sorry; yet for his oath’s sake, and for their sakes which sat with him, he would not reject her.
27 And immediately the king sent an executioner, and commanded his head to be brought: and he went and beheaded him in the prison,
28 And brought his head in a charger, and gave it to the damsel: and the damsel gave it to her mother.
29 And when his disciples heard of it, they came and took up his corpse, and laid it in a tomb.
30 And the apostles gathered themselves together unto Jesus, and told him all things, both what they had done, and what they had taught.
31 And he said unto them, Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while: for there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat.
32 And they departed into a desert place by ship privately.
33 And the people saw them departing, and many knew him, and ran afoot thither out of all cities, and outwent them, and came together unto him.
34 And Jesus, when he came out, saw much people, and was moved with compassion toward them, because they were as sheep not having a shepherd: and he began to teach them many things.
35 And when the day was now far spent, his disciples came unto him, and said, This is a desert place, and now the time is far passed:
36 Send them away, that they may go into the country round about, and into the villages, and buy themselves bread: for they have nothing to eat.
37 He answered and said unto them, Give ye them to eat. And they say unto him, Shall we go and buy two hundred pennyworth of bread, and give them to eat?
38 He saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? go and see. And when they knew, they say, Five, and two fishes.
39 And he commanded them to make all sit down by companies upon the green grass.
40 And they sat down in ranks, by hundreds, and by fifties.
41 And when he had taken the five loaves and the two fishes, he looked up to heaven, and blessed, and brake the loaves, and gave them to his disciples to set before them; and the two fishes divided he among them all.
42 And they did all eat, and were filled.
43 And they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments, and of the fishes.
44 And they that did eat of the loaves were about five thousand men.
45 And straightway he constrained his disciples to get into the ship, and to go to the other side before unto Bethsaida, while he sent away the people.
46 And when he had sent them away, he departed into a mountain to pray.
47 And when even was come, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and he alone on the land.
48 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.
49 But when they saw him walking upon the sea, they supposed it had been a spirit, and cried out:
50 For they all saw him, and were troubled. And immediately he talked with them, and saith unto them, Be of good cheer: it is I; be not afraid.
51 And he went up unto them into the ship; and the wind ceased: and they were sore amazed in themselves beyond measure, and wondered.
52 For they considered not the miracle of the loaves: for their heart was hardened.
53 And when they had passed over, they came into the land of Gennesaret, and drew to the shore.
54 And when they were come out of the ship, straightway they knew him,
55 And ran through that whole region round about, and began to carry about in beds those that were sick, where they heard he was.
56 And whithersoever he entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.
