1 Adonisedèk, wa lavil Jerizalèm lan, te vin konnen Jozye te pran lavil Ayi a, li te detwi l’ nèt tankou yon ofrann pou Seyè a, li te touye wa a menm jan li te fè l’ pou lavil Jeriko ansanm ak wa li a. Adonisedèk te vin pran nouvèl tou moun Gabawon yo te al rann tèt yo bay moun Izrayèl yo, epi yo t’ap viv nan mitan yo.
2 Tout moun lavil Jerizalèm yo te pè anpil, paske Gabawon te yon gwo lavil, tankou nenpòt ki lavil ki te gen yon wa ap gouvènen li. Li te pi gwo pase lavil Ayi. Lèfini, tout gason la te vanyan sòlda.
3 Se konsa, Adonisedèk, wa lavil Jerizalèm lan, voye misyon bay Oram, wa lavil Ebwon, bay Pireyam, wa lavil Jamout, bay Jafya, wa lavil Lakis, ak bay Debi, wa lavil Eglon.
4 Li voye di yo. -Vin jwenn mwen. Vin ede m’ atake lavil Gabawon, paske moun sa yo al rann tèt yo bay Jozye ak pèp Izrayèl la.
5 Se konsa senk wa moun Amori yo: wa lavil Jerizalèm lan, wa lavil Ebwon an, wa lavil Jamout la, wa lavil Lakis la, wa lavil Eglon an, mete tèt ansanm, yo fè yon sèl lame ak tout sòlda yo. Yo sènen lavil Gabawon, yo atake l’.
6 Moun lavil Gabawon yo voye mesaje nan kan Gilgal la di Jozye konsa: -Mèt, tanpri, pa lage nou! Prese vin jwenn nou pou ede nou, pou delivre nou. Paske tout wa moun Amori ki rete nan mòn yo mete tèt ansanm, yo leve dèyè nou pou yo fini ak nou.
7 Se konsa, Jozye ak tout lame a ansanm ak tout vanyan sòlda li yo kite Gilgal, yo leve yo pati.
8 Seyè a di Jozye konsa: -Ou pa bezwen pè yo. M’ap lage yo tout nan men ou. Pa gen yonn ladan yo ki ka kenbe tèt avè ou.
9 Lè Jozye kite Gilgal, li pase tout nwit lan ap mache. Li rive sou moun Amori yo san yo pa t’ atann.
10 Seyè a fè moun Amori yo pran kouri lè yo wè moun Izrayèl yo. Li fè pèp Izrayèl la bat yo byen bat lòt bò lavil Gabawon an. Moun Izrayèl yo kouri desann dèyè yo nan pant Bètowon an, yo bat yo jouk Azeka ak Makeda nan sid la.
11 Pandan yo t’ap kouri devan lame Izrayèl la, depi nan desann pant Bètowon an jouk yo rive Azeka, Seyè a rete nan syèl la, li voye gwo boul lagrèl sou yo pou touye yo. Lagrèl la te touye plis moun pase lame Izrayèl la avèk nepe yo.
12 Jou Seyè a te lage moun Amori yo nan men moun pèp Izrayèl yo, Jozye pale ak Seyè a devan tout pèp la, li di: -Solèy! Rete klere sou lavil Gabawon! Lalin! Rete klere sou Pon Ayalon!
13 Solèy la rete kote l’ te ye a, lalin lan pa fè yon pa jouk pèp Izrayèl la te fin kraze lènmi l’ yo. Se sa nou jwenn ekri nan liv Moun ki mache dwat la. Solèy la rete nan mitan syèl la san li pa mache yon bon tan, longè yon jounen konsa. Se apre sa l’ al kouche.
14 Ni anvan sa, ni apre sa, pa janm gen yon jou tankou jou sa a lè Seyè a te fè sa yon moun te mande l’ fè, epi li goumen pou pèp Izrayèl la.
15 Apre sa, Jozye ak tout lame Izrayèl la tounen nan kan yo Gilgal.
16 Men, senk wa yo te kouri chape, y’ al kache nan gwòt Makeda a.
17 Y’ al di Jozye yo jwenn senk wa yo kache nan gwòt Makeda a.
18 Jozye reponn: -Woule wòch bouche bouch gwòt la. Mete moun veye yo.
19 Men, nou menm, souke kò nou. Kouri dèyè lènmi yo. Atake yo pa dèyè. Pa kite yo gen tan rive nan lavil yo! Seyè a, Bondye nou an, lage yo nan men nou.
20 Jozye ak sòlda pèp Izrayèl yo t’ap masakre yo: sa ki te chape yo kouri al kache nan lavil ki gen gwo ranpa yo.
21 Lè sa a, tout lame Jozye a tounen vin jwenn li nan kan Makeda a san pwoblèm, san danje. Pesonn pa t’ penmèt yo di anyen sou moun pèp Izrayèl yo.
22 Lè sa a, Jozye di: -Degaje bouch gwòt la. Mennen senk wa yo deyò vin jwenn mwen.
23 Yo degaje bouch gwòt la, yo mennen senk wa yo deyò vin jwenn li. Se te wa lavil Jerizalèm lan, wa lavil Ebwon an, wa lavil Jamout la, wa lavil Lakis la ak wa lavil Eglon an.
24 Lè yo mennen wa yo ba li, Jozye rele tout gason nan pèp Izrayèl la, epi li di chèf ki te avè l’ yo: -Vini non! Mete pye nou sou kou wa sa yo! Yo pwoche vre, yo mete pye yo sou kou wa yo.
25 Epi Jozye di yo: -Nou pa bezwen tranble! Nou pa bezwen pè! Mete gason sou nou! Pa janm dekouraje paske Seyè a pral fè nou mete pye nou sou kou tout lènmi n’a jwenn sou wout nou!
26 Apre sa, Jozye touye wa yo epi li fè pann kadav yo sou senk pyebwa kote yo rete pandye jouk aswè.
27 Lè solèy fin kouche, Jozye bay lòd pou yo desann kadav yo, epi pou yo voye yo jete nan gwòt kote yo te kache a. Apre sa, yo pran gwo wòch yo bouche bouch gwòt la. Wòch yo la jouk jòdi a.
28 Menm jou sa a, Jozye atake lavil Makeda, epi li pran l’. Li touye wa a. Lèfini, li fè touye tout moun ak tout bèt ki te nan lavil la tankou yon ofrann pou Seyè a, san li pa kite anyen chape. Li fè wa Makeda a menm sa li te fè wa Jeriko a.
29 Apre sa, Jozye ansanm ak tout lame Izrayèl la kite Makeda, y’ al atake lavil Libna.
30 Seyè a lage lavil la ansanm ak tout wa a nan men moun pèp Izrayèl yo. Yo touye dènye moun ak dènye bèt ki te nan lavil la san yo pa kite anyen chape. Li fè wa a menm sa li fè wa Jeriko a.
31 Apre sa, Jozye ansanm ak tout lame Izrayèl la kite Libna, y’ al atake Lakis. Yo sènen lavil la nèt.
32 Seyè a lage lavil Lakis nan men moun pèp Izrayèl yo. Sou dezyèm jou a, yo pran lavil la. Li fè yo touye dènye moun ak dènye bèt ki te nan lavil la, menm jan yo te fè l’ nan lavil Libna a, san li pa kite yonn chape.
33 Lè sa a Oram, wa peyi Gezè a, moute vin pote moun Lakis yo sekou. Men, Jozye bat li byen bat ansanm ak tout moun pa l’ yo. Li fè touye yo tout san li pa kite yonn chape.
34 Apre sa, Jozye ansanm ak tout lame Izrayèl la kite lavil Lakis, y’ al atake lavil Eglon. Yo sènen l’ nèt.
35 Menm jou a, yo pran lavil la, yo touye tout moun ladan l’. Wi, jou sa a, tankou yon ofrann y’ap fè pou Seyè a, yo touye dènye moun ak dènye bèt ki t’ap viv la, menm jan yo te fè l’ nan lavil Lakis la.
36 Apre sa, Jozye ansanm ak lame Izrayèl la kite lavil Eglon, yo moute al atake Ebwon.
37 Yo pran lavil la, yo touye dènye moun ak dènye bèt ki te rete la ansanm ak tou sa ki te rete nan ti bouk nan zòn lan. Li pa kite yon moun chape, menm jan li te fè l’ lavil Eglon an. Li fè touye dènye moun ak dènye bèt tankou yon ofrann pou Seyè a.
38 Apre sa ankò, Jozye ansanm ak tout lame Izrayèl la vire sou lavil Debi, y’ al atake l’.
39 Yo pran lavil la ansanm ak wa a ak tout lòt ti bouk nan zòn lan. Jozye fè touye tout moun ak tout bèt tankou yon ofrann pou Seyè a. Li pa kite yonn chape. Menm sa li te fè moun lavil Ebwon yo, menm sa li te fè moun lavil Libna yo ak wa yo a, se sa Jozye fè lavil Debi ak wa li a tou.
40 Se konsa Jozye te fè tout peyi a soumèt devan li. Li te kraze tout wa yo, kit sa ki t’ap gouvènen nan mòn yo ak nan Negèv la, kit sa ki t’ap gouvènen nan plenn yo ak sou ti mòn yo. Li pa kite yon moun chape. Li touye dènye moun, dènye bèt tankou yon ofrann pou Seyè a, jan Seyè a, Bondye pèp Izrayèl la, te ba li lòd fè a.
41 Jozye bat yo depi Kadès-Banea sou bò sid rivyè Gaza, bò rivaj la, nan tout zòn Gochenn lan jouk Gabawon sou bò nò.
42 Jozye te pran tout wa sa yo ak tout peyi yo nan yon sèl soti, paske Seyè a, Bondye pèp Izrayèl la, t’ap goumen pou pèp la.
43 Lèfini, Jozye ansanm ak tout lame Izrayèl la tounen nan kan yo Gilgal.

Josué 10
1 Adoni Tsédek, roi de Jérusalem, apprit que Josué s’était emparé d’Aï et l’avait dévouée par interdit, qu’il avait traité Aï et son roi comme il avait traité Jéricho et son roi, et que les habitants de Gabaon avaient fait la paix avec Israël et étaient au milieu d’eux.
2 Il eut alors une forte crainte; car Gabaon était une grande ville, comme une des villes royales, plus grande même qu’Aï, et tous ses hommes étaient vaillants.
3 Adoni Tsédek, roi de Jérusalem, fit dire à Hoham, roi d’Hébron, à Piream, roi de Jarmuth, à Japhia, roi de Lakis, et à Debir, roi d’Églon:
4 Montez vers moi, et aidez-moi, afin que nous frappions Gabaon, car elle a fait la paix avec Josué et avec les enfants d’Israël.
5 Cinq rois des Amoréens, le roi de Jérusalem, le roi d’Hébron, le roi de Jarmuth, le roi de Lakis, le roi d’Églon, se réunirent ainsi et montèrent avec toutes leurs armées; ils vinrent camper près de Gabaon, et l’attaquèrent.
6 Les gens de Gabaon envoyèrent dire à Josué, au camp de Guilgal: N’abandonne pas tes serviteurs, monte vers nous en hâte, délivre-nous, donne-nous du secours; car tous les rois des Amoréens, qui habitent la montagne, se sont réunis contre nous.
7 Josué monta de Guilgal, lui et tous les gens de guerre avec lui, et tous les vaillants hommes.
8 L’Éternel dit à Josué: Ne les crains point, car je les livre entre tes mains, et aucun d’eux ne tiendra devant toi.
9 Josué arriva subitement sur eux, après avoir marché toute la nuit depuis Guilgal.
10 L’Éternel les mit en déroute devant Israël; et Israël leur fit éprouver une grande défaite près de Gabaon, les poursuivit sur le chemin qui monte à Beth Horon, et les battit jusqu’à Azéka et à Makkéda.
11 Comme ils fuyaient devant Israël, et qu’ils étaient à la descente de Beth Horon, l’Éternel fit tomber du ciel sur eux de grosses pierres jusqu’à Azéka, et ils périrent; ceux qui moururent par les pierres de grêle furent plus nombreux que ceux qui furent tués avec l’épée par les enfants d’Israël.
12 Alors Josué parla à l’Éternel, le jour où l’Éternel livra les Amoréens aux enfants d’Israël, et il dit en présence d’Israël: Soleil, arrête-toi sur Gabaon, Et toi, lune, sur la vallée d’Ajalon!
13 Et le soleil s’arrêta, et la lune suspendit sa course, Jusqu’à ce que la nation eût tiré vengeance de ses ennemis. Cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre du Juste? Le soleil s’arrêta au milieu du ciel, Et ne se hâta point de se coucher, presque tout un jour.
14 Il n’y a point eu de jour comme celui-là, ni avant ni après, où l’Éternel ait écouté la voix d’un homme; car l’Éternel combattait pour Israël.
15 Et Josué, et tout Israël avec lui, retourna au camp à Guilgal.
16 Les cinq rois s’enfuirent, et se cachèrent dans une caverne à Makkéda.
17 On le rapporta à Josué, en disant: Les cinq rois se trouvent cachés dans une caverne à Makkéda.
18 Josué dit: Roulez de grosses pierres à l’entrée de la caverne, et mettez-y des hommes pour les garder.
19 Et vous, ne vous arrêtez pas, poursuivez vos ennemis, et attaquez-les par derrière; ne les laissez pas entrer dans leurs villes, car l’Éternel, votre Dieu, les a livrés entre vos mains.
20 Après que Josué et les enfants d’Israël leur eurent fait éprouver une très grande défaite, et les eurent complètement battus, ceux qui purent échapper se sauvèrent dans les villes fortifiées,
21 et tout le peuple revint tranquillement au camp vers Josué à Makkéda, sans que personne remuât sa langue contre les enfants d’Israël.
22 Josué dit alors: Ouvrez l’entrée de la caverne, faites-en sortir ces cinq rois, et amenez-les-moi.
23 Ils firent ainsi, et lui amenèrent les cinq rois qu’ils avaient fait sortir de la caverne, le roi de Jérusalem, le roi d’Hébron, le roi de Jarmuth, le roi de Lakis, le roi d’Églon.
24 Lorsqu’ils eurent amené ces rois devant Josué, Josué appela tous les hommes d’Israël, et dit aux chefs des gens de guerre qui avaient marché avec lui: Approchez-vous, mettez vos pieds sur les cous de ces rois. Ils s’approchèrent, et ils mirent les pieds sur leurs cous.
25 Josué leur dit: Ne craignez point et ne vous effrayez point, fortifiez-vous et ayez du courage, car c’est ainsi que l’Éternel traitera tous vos ennemis contre lesquels vous combattez.
26 Après cela, Josué les frappa et les fit mourir; il les pendit à cinq arbres, et ils restèrent pendus aux arbres jusqu’au soir.
27 Vers le coucher du soleil, Josué ordonna qu’on les descendît des arbres, on les jeta dans la caverne où ils s’étaient cachés, et l’on mit à l’entrée de la caverne de grosses pierres, qui y sont demeurées jusqu’à ce jour.
28 Josué prit Makkéda le même jour, et la frappa du tranchant de l’épée; il dévoua par interdit le roi, la ville et tous ceux qui s’y trouvaient; il n’en laissa échapper aucun, et il traita le roi de Makkéda comme il avait traité le roi de Jéricho.
29 Josué, et tout Israël avec lui, passa de Makkéda à Libna, et il attaqua Libna.
30 L’Éternel la livra aussi, avec son roi, entre les mains d’Israël, et la frappa du tranchant de l’épée, elle et tous ceux qui s’y trouvaient; il n’en laissa échapper aucun, et il traita son roi comme il avait traité le roi de Jéricho.
31 Josué, et tout Israël avec lui, passa de Libna à Lakis; il campa devant elle, et il l’attaqua.
32 L’Éternel livra Lakis entre les mains d’Israël, qui la prit le second jour, et la frappa du tranchant de l’épée, elle et tous ceux qui s’y trouvaient, comme il avait traité Libna.
33 Alors Horam, roi de Guézer, monta pour secourir Lakis. Josué le battit, lui et son peuple, sans laisser échapper personne.
34 Josué, et tout Israël avec lui, passa de Lakis à Églon; ils campèrent devant elle, et ils l’attaquèrent.
35 Ils la prirent le même jour, et la frappèrent du tranchant de l’épée, elle et tous ceux qui s’y trouvaient; Josué la dévoua par interdit le jour même, comme il avait traité Lakis.
36 Josué, et tout Israël avec lui, monta d’Églon à Hébron, et ils l’attaquèrent.
37 Ils la prirent, et la frappèrent du tranchant de l’épée, elle, son roi, toutes les villes qui en dépendaient, et tous ceux qui s’y trouvaient; Josué n’en laissa échapper aucun, comme il avait fait à Églon, et il la dévoua par interdit avec tous ceux qui s’y trouvaient.
38 Josué, et tout Israël avec lui, se dirigea sur Debir, et il l’attaqua.
39 Il la prit, elle, son roi, et toutes les villes qui en dépendaient; ils les frappèrent du tranchant de l’épée, et ils dévouèrent par interdit tous ceux qui s’y trouvaient, sans en laisser échapper aucun; Josué traita Debir et son roi comme il avait traité Hébron et comme il avait traité Libna et son roi.
40 Josué battit tout le pays, la montagne, le midi, la plaine et les coteaux, et il en battit tous les rois; il ne laissa échapper personne, et il dévoua par interdit tout ce qui respirait, comme l’avait ordonné l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël.
41 Josué les battit de Kadès Barnéa à Gaza, il battit tout le pays de Gosen jusqu’à Gabaon.
42 Josué prit en même temps tous ces rois et leur pays, car l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, combattait pour Israël.
43 Et Josué, et tout Israël avec lui, retourna au camp à Guilgal.

1 Now it came to pass, when Adonizedec king of Jerusalem had heard how Joshua had taken Ai, and had utterly destroyed it; as he had done to Jericho and her king, so he had done to Ai and her king; and how the inhabitants of Gibeon had made peace with Israel, and were among them;
2 That they feared greatly, because Gibeon was a great city, as one of the royal cities, and because it was greater than Ai, and all the men thereof were mighty.
3 Wherefore Adonizedec king of Jerusalem, sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,
4 Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.
5 Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.
6 And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.
7 So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour.
8 And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.
9 Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night.
10 And the Lord discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Bethhoron, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.
11 And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the Lord cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.
12 Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel, Sun, stand thou still upon Gibeon; and thou, Moon, in the valley of Ajalon.
13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel.
15 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.
16 But these five kings fled, and hid themselves in a cave at Makkedah.
17 And it was told Joshua, saying, The five kings are found hid in a cave at Makkedah.
18 And Joshua said, Roll great stones upon the mouth of the cave, and set men by it for to keep them:
19 And stay ye not, but pursue after your enemies, and smite the hindmost of them; suffer them not to enter into their cities: for the Lord your God hath delivered them into your hand.
20 And it came to pass, when Joshua and the children of Israel had made an end of slaying them with a very great slaughter, till they were consumed, that the rest which remained of them entered into fenced cities.
21 And all the people returned to the camp to Joshua at Makkedah in peace: none moved his tongue against any of the children of Israel.
22 Then said Joshua, Open the mouth of the cave, and bring out those five kings unto me out of the cave.
23 And they did so, and brought forth those five kings unto him out of the cave, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, and the king of Eglon.
24 And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.
25 And Joshua said unto them, Fear not, nor be dismayed, be strong and of good courage: for thus shall the Lord do to all your enemies against whom ye fight.
26 And afterward Joshua smote them, and slew them, and hanged them on five trees: and they were hanging upon the trees until the evening.
27 And it came to pass at the time of the going down of the sun, that Joshua commanded, and they took them down off the trees, and cast them into the cave wherein they had been hid, and laid great stones in the cave’s mouth, which remain until this very day.
28 And that day Joshua took Makkedah, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof he utterly destroyed, them, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain: and he did to the king of Makkedah as he did unto the king of Jericho.
29 Then Joshua passed from Makkedah, and all Israel with him, unto Libnah, and fought against Libnah:
30 And the Lord delivered it also, and the king thereof, into the hand of Israel; and he smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein; he let none remain in it; but did unto the king thereof as he did unto the king of Jericho.
31 And Joshua passed from Libnah, and all Israel with him, unto Lachish, and encamped against it, and fought against it:
32 And the Lord delivered Lachish into the hand of Israel, which took it on the second day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein, according to all that he had done to Libnah.
33 Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.
34 And from Lachish Joshua passed unto Eglon, and all Israel with him; and they encamped against it, and fought against it:
35 And they took it on that day, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and all the souls that were therein he utterly destroyed that day, according to all that he had done to Lachish.
36 And Joshua went up from Eglon, and all Israel with him, unto Hebron; and they fought against it:
37 And they took it, and smote it with the edge of the sword, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof, and all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining, according to all that he had done to Eglon; but destroyed it utterly, and all the souls that were therein.
38 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, to Debir; and fought against it:
39 And he took it, and the king thereof, and all the cities thereof; and they smote them with the edge of the sword, and utterly destroyed all the souls that were therein; he left none remaining: as he had done to Hebron, so he did to Debir, and to the king thereof; as he had done also to Libnah, and to her king.
40 So Joshua smote all the country of the hills, and of the south, and of the vale, and of the springs, and all their kings: he left none remaining, but utterly destroyed all that breathed, as the Lord God of Israel commanded.
41 And Joshua smote them from Kadeshbarnea even unto Gaza, and all the country of Goshen, even unto Gibeon.
42 And all these kings and their land did Joshua take at one time, because the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel.
43 And Joshua returned, and all Israel with him, unto the camp to Gilgal.
