1 Lè Sayil tounen soti fè lagè ak moun Filisti yo, yo vin di l’ David te nan dezè Angedi a.
2 Sayil pran twamil (3000) sòlda nan pèp Izrayèl la, sa ki te fò anpil nan fè lagè. Epi li pati al chache David ak mesye l’ yo sou solèy leve Wòch Kabrit mawon yo.
3 Li rive devan yon gwòt ki te toupre yon pak mouton bò wout la. Li antre nan gwòt la al fè bezwen li. David menm te kache nan fon gwòt la ansanm ak mesye l’ yo.
4 Mesye yo di David konsa: -Men chans ou, men okazyon Seyè a te di l’ap ba ou a. Seyè a te di: L’ap lage lènmi ou la nan men ou, w’a fè sa ou vle avè l’. David leve, li mache tou dousman, li koupe yon moso nan rad Sayil san Sayil pa konn sa.
5 Men apre sa, konsyans David repwoche l’ pou ke rad Sayil li te koupe a.
6 Li di moun li yo: -Mande Bondye padon! Mwen p’ap fè bagay konsa sou mèt mwen, moun Bondye chwazi pou wa a. Mwen p’ap janm leve men mwen sou li, paske se Seyè a menm ki te chwazi l’ pou wa.
7 David pale ak mesye l’ yo pou yo wete lide konsa nan tèt yo. Li pa kite yo fè Sayil anyen. Sayil leve, li soti nan gwòt la, li mache al fè wout li.
8 Lè sa a, David soti dèyè l’, li rele l’: -Monwa! Monwa! Sayil vire gade dèyè li. David tonbe ajenou, li bese tèt li jouk atè.
9 Epi li di: -Poukisa w’ap koute moun k’ap di ou m’ap chache fè malè sou ou?
10 Gade, jòdi a ou wè ak je ou ki jan Seyè a te lage ou nan men m’ anndan gwòt la. Gen moun ki di m’ se pou m’ te touye ou. Men, kè m’ fè m’ mal pou ou. Mwen di mwen p’ap janm leve men m’ sou mèt mwen, paske se Seyè a menm ki te chwazi ou pou wa.
11 Gade, papa mwen! Men yon moso ke rad ou nan men m’! Mwen koupe moso ke rad ou, men mwen pa t’ touye ou. Koulye a ou konnen, ou wè mwen pa gen anyen dèyè tèt mwen, mwen pa gen ankenn lide mechanste nan tèt mwen. Mwen pa fè ou anyen ki mal. Se ou menm k’ap chache touye m’.
12 Se pou Seyè a jije ant nou de a kilès ki antò! Se pou Seyè a pini ou pou sa w’ap fè m’ la a, paske mwen menm, mwen p’ap janm leve men m’ sou ou.
13 Jan pwovèb granmoun lontan yo di: Se moun mechan ki fè mechanste! Men mwen p’ap leve men m’ sou ou.
14 Dèyè ki moun wa pèp Izrayèl la ye konsa? Dèyè ki moun l’ap kouri konsa? Dèyè yon chen mouri? Dèyè yon ti pis?
15 Seyè a va sèvi nou jij! L’a jije ant nou de a kilès ki antò! Se pou l’ mete bouch nan zafè a, pou l’ pran defans mwen, pou l’ delivre m’ anba men ou.
16 Lè David fin pale, Sayil di: -Se pa vwa David, pitit gason m’ lan, sa? Epi li pran kriye.
17 Li di David konsa: -Ou gen rezon. Se mwen ki antò! Ou te aji byen avè m’. Se mwen menm ki te aji mal avè ou.
18 Jòdi a ankò, ou fè m’ wè se byen ou vle fè pou mwen paske, atout Seyè a lage m’ nan men ou, ou pa touye m’.
19 Lè yon moun jwenn okazyon pou l’ mete men l’ sou lènmi l’, èske l’ap kite l’ al fè wout li san li pa fè l’ anyen? Bondye va beni ou pou sa ou fè pou mwen jòdi a.
20 Koulye a, mwen konnen ou gen pou ou wa vre. Avèk ou menm wa pèp Izrayèl la, gouvènman an ap kanpe fèm.
21 Men tanpri, pwomèt mwen, nan non Seyè a, ou p’ap touye pitit mwen yo lè m’a mouri, pou non m’ pa disparèt nan fanmi papa m’.
22 David pwomèt Sayil li p’ap fè sa. Apre sa, Sayil al lakay li. David menm tounen nan kachèt li ansanm ak mesye pa l’ yo.

1 Samuel 24
1 (24:2) Lorsque Saül fut revenu de la poursuite des Philistins, on vint lui dire: Voici, David est dans le désert d’En Guédi.
2 (24:3) Saül prit trois mille hommes d’élite sur tout Israël, et il alla chercher David et ses gens jusque sur les rochers des boucs sauvages.
3 (24:4) Il arriva à des parcs de brebis, qui étaient près du chemin; et là se trouvait une caverne, où il entra pour se couvrir les pieds. David et ses gens étaient au fond de la caverne.
4 (24:5) Les gens de David lui dirent: Voici le jour où l’Éternel te dit: Je livre ton ennemi entre tes mains; traite-le comme bon te semblera. David se leva, et coupa doucement le pan du manteau de Saül.
5 (24:6) Après cela le coeur lui battit, parce qu’il avait coupé le pan du manteau de Saül.
6 (24:7) Et il dit à ses gens: Que l’Éternel me garde de commettre contre mon seigneur, l’oint de l’Éternel, une action telle que de porter ma main sur lui! car il est l’oint de l’Éternel.
7 (24:8) Par ces paroles David arrêta ses gens, et les empêcha de se jeter sur Saül. Puis Saül se leva pour sortir de la caverne, et continua son chemin.
8 (24:9) Après cela, David se leva et sortit de la caverne. Il se mit alors à crier après Saül: O roi, mon seigneur! Saül regarda derrière lui, et David s’inclina le visage contre terre et se prosterna.
9 (24:10) David dit à Saül: Pourquoi écoutes-tu les propos des gens qui disent: Voici, David cherche ton malheur?
10 (24:11) Tu vois maintenant de tes propres yeux que l’Éternel t’avait livré aujourd’hui entre mes mains dans la caverne. On m’excitait à te tuer; mais je t’ai épargné, et j’ai dit: Je ne porterai pas la main sur mon seigneur, car il est l’oint de l’Éternel.
11 (24:12) Vois, mon père, vois donc le pan de ton manteau dans ma main. Puisque j’ai coupé le pan de ton manteau et que je ne t’ai pas tué, sache et reconnais qu’il n’y a dans ma conduite ni méchanceté ni révolte, et que je n’ai point péché contre toi. Et toi, tu me dresses des embûches, pour m’ôter la vie!
12 (24:13) L’Éternel sera juge entre moi et toi, et l’Éternel me vengera de toi; mais je ne porterai point la main sur toi.
13 (24:14) Des méchants vient la méchanceté, dit l’ancien proverbe. Aussi je ne porterai point la main sur toi.
14 (24:15) Contre qui le roi d’Israël s’est-il mis en marche? Qui poursuis-tu? Un chien mort, une puce!
15 (24:16) L’Éternel jugera et prononcera entre moi et toi; il regardera, il défendra ma cause, il me rendra justice en me délivrant de ta main.
16 (24:17) Lorsque David eut fini d’adresser à Saül ces paroles, Saül dit: Est-ce bien ta voix, mon fils David? Et Saül éleva la voix et pleura.
17 (24:18) Et il dit à David: Tu es plus juste que moi; car tu m’as fait du bien, et moi je t’ai fait du mal.
18 (24:19) Tu manifestes aujourd’hui la bonté avec laquelle tu agis envers moi, puisque l’Éternel m’avait livré entre tes mains et que tu ne m’as pas tué.
19 (24:20) Si quelqu’un rencontre son ennemi, le laisse-t-il poursuivre tranquillement son chemin? Que l’Éternel te récompense pour ce que tu m’as fait en ce jour!
20 (24:21) Maintenant voici, je sais que tu régneras, et que la royauté d’Israël restera entre tes mains.
21 (24:22) Jure-moi donc par l’Éternel que tu ne détruiras pas ma postérité après moi, et que tu ne retrancheras pas mon nom de la maison de mon père.
22 (24:23) David le jura à Saül. Puis Saül s’en alla dans sa maison, et David et ses gens montèrent au lieu fort.

1 Samuel 24
1 And it came to pass, when Saul was returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying, Behold, David is in the wilderness of Engedi.
2 Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats.
3 And he came to the sheepcotes by the way, where was a cave; and Saul went in to cover his feet: and David and his men remained in the sides of the cave.
4 And the men of David said unto him, Behold the day of which the Lord said unto thee, Behold, I will deliver thine enemy into thine hand, that thou mayest do to him as it shall seem good unto thee. Then David arose, and cut off the skirt of Saul’s robe privily.
5 And it came to pass afterward, that David’s heart smote him, because he had cut off Saul’s skirt.
6 And he said unto his men, The Lord forbid that I should do this thing unto my master, the Lord‘s anointed, to stretch forth mine hand against him, seeing he is the anointed of the Lord.
7 So David stayed his servants with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.
8 David also arose afterward, and went out of the cave, and cried after Saul, saying, My lord the king. And when Saul looked behind him, David stooped with his face to the earth, and bowed himself.
9 And David said to Saul, Wherefore hearest thou men’s words, saying, Behold, David seeketh thy hurt?
10 Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the Lord had delivered thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and some bade me kill thee: but mine eye spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he is the Lord‘s anointed.
11 Moreover, my father, see, yea, see the skirt of thy robe in my hand: for in that I cut off the skirt of thy robe, and killed thee not, know thou and see that there is neither evil nor transgression in mine hand, and I have not sinned against thee; yet thou huntest my soul to take it.
12 The Lord judge between me and thee, and the Lord avenge me of thee: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.
13 As saith the proverb of the ancients, Wickedness proceedeth from the wicked: but mine hand shall not be upon thee.
14 After whom is the king of Israel come out? after whom dost thou pursue? after a dead dog, after a flea.
15 The Lord therefore be judge, and judge between me and thee, and see, and plead my cause, and deliver me out of thine hand.
16 And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.
17 And he said to David, Thou art more righteous than I: for thou hast rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil.
18 And thou hast shewed this day how that thou hast dealt well with me: forasmuch as when the Lord had delivered me into thine hand, thou killedst me not.
19 For if a man find his enemy, will he let him go well away? wherefore the Lord reward thee good for that thou hast done unto me this day.
20 And now, behold, I know well that thou shalt surely be king, and that the kingdom of Israel shall be established in thine hand.
21 Swear now therefore unto me by the Lord, that thou wilt not cut off my seed after me, and that thou wilt not destroy my name out of my father’s house.
22 And David sware unto Saul. And Saul went home; but David and his men gat them up unto the hold.
