1 Seyè a pale ak Jozye, li di l’ konsa:
2 -Pale ak moun pèp Izrayèl yo, di yo pou yo chwazi lavil kote moun ka jwenn pwoteksyon, jan mwen te bay Moyiz lòd pou yo fè a.
3 Lè yon moun touye yon moun san li pa fè espre, san li pa t’ gen lide fè sa, li ka kouri al kache la pou yo ka pwoteje l’ pou l’ pa tonbe anba men moun k’ap chache l’ pou yo tire revanj.
4 Moun k’ap chache pwoteksyon nan yonn nan lavil sa yo va kouri ale bò pòtay lavil la, l’a esplike chèf fanmi lavil la sa ki te rive l’. Lèfini, y’a kite l’ antre nan lavil la. Y’a ba li yon kote pou l’ rete nan mitan yo.
5 Si moun k’ap chache tire revanj yo rive jouk la deyè l’, chèf fanmi lavil la p’ap renmèt yo nonm lan, paske se pa espre li te fè lè l’ te touye moun menm ras ak li a. Li pa t’ gen anyen avè l’.
6 L’a gen pou l’ rete nan lavil la jouk la parèt devan tout pèp la pou yo jije l’, jouk moun ki granprèt lè sa a va mouri. Se lè sa a nonm lan va gen dwa tounen lakay li, nan lavil li te kouri kite a.
7 Se konsa, moun yo pran lavil Kadès nan peyi Galile, nan mòn ki pou moun branch fanmi Neftali yo, lavil Sichèm nan mòn ki pou moun branch fanmi Efrayim yo ak lavil Kiriyat aba ki rele koulye a Ebwon, nan mòn ki pou moun branch fanmi Jida yo pou sèvi pwoteksyon.
8 Lòt bò larivyè Jouden an menm, nan platon ki anfas lavil Jeriko, bò solèy leve, yo chwazi twa lavil nan dezè a pou sa tou: Bezè nan zòn ki pou moun branch fanmi Woubenn yo, Ramòt-Galarad nan zòn ki pou moun branch fanmi Gad yo, ak Golan nan peyi Bazan an nan zòn ki pou moun branch fanmi Manase yo.
9 Men non lavil yo te chwazi pou bay pwoteksyon yo. Nenpòt moun nan pèp Izrayèl la osinon nan moun lòt nasyon k’ap viv nan mitan yo ki ta touye yon moun san fè espre, l’a gen dwa kouri al kache la pou yo ka pwoteje l’ pou l’ pa tonbe anba men moun ki fanmi pi pre moun li te touye a, anvan li parèt devan tout pèp la pou yo jije l’.

Josué 20
1 L’Éternel parla à Josué, et dit:
2 Parle aux enfants d’Israël, et dit: Établissez-vous, comme je vous l’ai ordonné par Moïse, des villes de refuge,
3 où pourra s’enfuir le meurtrier qui aura tué quelqu’un involontairement, sans intention; elles vous serviront de refuge contre le vengeur du sang.
4 Le meurtrier s’enfuira vers l’une de ces villes, s’arrêtera à l’entrée de la porte de la ville, et exposera son cas aux anciens de cette ville; ils le recueilleront auprès d’eux dans la ville, et lui donneront une demeure, afin qu’il habite avec eux.
5 Si le vengeur du sang le poursuit, ils ne livreront point le meurtrier entre ses mains; car c’est sans le vouloir qu’il a tué son prochain, et sans avoir été auparavant son ennemi.
6 Il restera dans cette ville jusqu’à ce qu’il ait comparu devant l’assemblée pour être jugé, jusqu’à la mort du souverain sacrificateur alors en fonctions. A cette époque, le meurtrier s’en retournera et rentrera dans sa ville et dans sa maison, dans la ville d’où il s’était enfui.
7 Ils consacrèrent Kédesch, en Galilée, dans la montagne de Nephthali; Sichem, dans la montagne d’Éphraïm; et Kirjath Arba, qui est Hébron, dans la montagne de Juda.
8 Et de l’autre côté du Jourdain, à l’orient de Jéricho, ils choisirent Betser, dans le désert, dans la plaine, dans la tribu de Ruben; Ramoth, en Galaad, dans la tribu de Gad; et Golan, en Basan, dans la tribu de Manassé.
9 Telles furent les villes désignées pour tous les enfants d’Israël et pour l’étranger en séjour au milieu d’eux, afin que celui qui aurait tué quelqu’un involontairement pût s’y réfugier, et qu’il ne mourût pas de la main du vengeur du sang avant d’avoir comparu devant l’assemblée.

Joshua 20
1 The Lord also spake unto Joshua, saying,
2 Speak to the children of Israel, saying, Appoint out for you cities of refuge, whereof I spake unto you by the hand of Moses:
3 That the slayer that killeth any person unawares and unwittingly may flee thither: and they shall be your refuge from the avenger of blood.
4 And when he that doth flee unto one of those cities shall stand at the entering of the gate of the city, and shall declare his cause in the ears of the elders of that city, they shall take him into the city unto them, and give him a place, that he may dwell among them.
5 And if the avenger of blood pursue after him, then they shall not deliver the slayer up into his hand; because he smote his neighbour unwittingly, and hated him not beforetime.
6 And he shall dwell in that city, until he stand before the congregation for judgment, and until the death of the high priest that shall be in those days: then shall the slayer return, and come unto his own city, and unto his own house, unto the city from whence he fled.
7 And they appointed Kedesh in Galilee in mount Naphtali, and Shechem in mount Ephraim, and Kirjatharba, which is Hebron, in the mountain of Judah.
8 And on the other side Jordan by Jericho eastward, they assigned Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.
9 These were the cities appointed for all the children of Israel, and for the stranger that sojourneth among them, that whosoever killeth any person at unawares might flee thither, and not die by the hand of the avenger of blood, until he stood before the congregation.
