Jozye 14
1 Men tè yo te separe bay moun pèp Izrayèl yo. Se Eleaza, prèt la, ak Jozye, pitit gason Noun lan, ansanm ak tout chèf fanmi nan tout branch pèp Izrayèl yo ki te bay chak fanmi pòsyon pa yo.
2 Jan Seyè a te bay Moyiz lòd la, yo te tire osò devan Seyè a pou yo te ka konnen ki pòsyon ki tapral pou nèf branch fanmi ki te rete yo ak lòt mwatye branch nan fanmi Manase a.
3 Moyiz te gen tan bay de branch fanmi ak mwatye nan yon twazyèm branch fanmi pòsyon pa yo lòt bò larivyè Jouden. Men, li pa t’ bay moun fanmi Levi yo ankenn pòsyon nan tè sa yo.
4 Fanmi Jozèf la te fè de branch: yonn pou Manase, yonn pou Efrayim. Moun Levi yo pa t’ resevwa ankenn pòsyon nan tè a pou yo. Men yo te ba yo kèk lavil pou yo te rete ak savann toupre lavil yo pou yo gade bèt ak zannimo.
5 Se konsa, moun pèp Izrayèl yo te separe peyi a jan Seyè a te bay Moyiz lòd fè l’ la.
6 Moun branch fanmi Jida yo al jwenn Jozye nan kan Gilgal la. Kalèb pitit gason Jefoune, nan fanmi Kenaz la, di li: -Ou konnen sa Seyè a te di Moyiz, sèvitè Bondye a, sou ou ak sou mwen lè li te lavil Kadès-Banea.
7 Mwen te gen karantan lè Moyiz, sèvitè Seyè a, rete lavil Kadès-Banea, li voye m’ al vizite tout peyi sa a. Lè m’ tounen, mwen fè l’ yon bon rapò dapre sa m’ te wè.
8 Moun ki te moute avè m’ yo pran dekouraje pèp la. Men mwen menm, mwen te fè tou sa Seyè a, Bondye mwen an, te vle m’ fè.
9 Lè sa a, Moyiz fè m’ pwomès sa a, li di m’: Ou wè ou menm, ou fè tou sa Seyè a te vle ou fè. Se poutèt sa y’a ba ou tout kote ou mete pye ou yo pou ou ak pou tout ras ou apre ou.
10 Gade! Seyè a kenbe pwomès li, li pa kite m’ gen tan mouri. Sa te fè deja karannsenkan depi Seyè a te di Moyiz sa. Lè sa a, pèp Izrayèl la t’ap moute desann nan dezè a. Koulye a mwen gen katrevensenkan.
11 Men, mwen santi m’ vanyan gason jòdi a tankou lè Moyiz te voye m’ al vizite peyi a. Mwen santi mwen ka goumen, mwen ka regle tout zafè m’ jan m’ te konn fè l’ lè sa a.
12 Se poutèt sa, mwen mande ou pou ou ban mwen mòn Seyè a te pwomèt mwen jou sa a. Ou te rive konnen se yon bann gwonèg bèl wotè yo rele anakim ki t’ap viv la. Yo te gen anpil gwo lavil ki te byen pwoteje ak ranpa. Men, mwen kwè Seyè a pral kanpe avè m’. L’a ede m’ pran peyi a nan men yo jan li te di l’ la.
13 Lè sa a, Jozye bay Kalèb, pitit gason Jefoune a, benediksyon, epi li ba li pòsyon tè Ebwon an pou pòsyon pa li.
14 Jouk koulye a, Ebwon rete pou Kalèb ak pou moun ras fanmi li yo, paske Kalèb te fè tou sa Seyè a, Bondye pèp Izrayèl la, te vle l’ fè.
15 Nan tan lontan, yo te rele lavil Ebwon an Kiriyat aba. Aba sa a, se li ki te pi gwonèg nan tout ras moun Anak yo. Depi apre lè sa a, peyi a t’ap viv ak kè poze. Pa t’ gen goumen ankò.

Josué 14
1 Voici ce que les enfants d’Israël reçurent en héritage dans le pays de Canaan, ce que partagèrent entre eux le sacrificateur Éléazar, Josué, fils de Nun, et les chefs de famille des tribus des enfants d’Israël.
2 Le partage eut lieu d’après le sort, comme l’Éternel l’avait ordonné par Moïse, pour les neuf tribus et pour la demi-tribu.
3 Car Moïse avait donné un héritage aux deux tribus et à la demi-tribu de l’autre côté du Jourdain; mais il n’avait point donné aux Lévites d’héritage parmi eux.
4 Les fils de Joseph formaient deux tribus, Manassé et Éphraïm; et l’on ne donna point de part aux Lévites dans le pays, si ce n’est des villes pour habitation, et les banlieues pour leurs troupeaux et pour leurs biens.
5 Les enfants d’Israël se conformèrent aux ordres que l’Éternel avait donnés à Moïse, et ils partagèrent le pays.
6 Les fils de Juda s’approchèrent de Josué, à Guilgal; et Caleb, fils de Jephunné, le Kenizien, lui dit: Tu sais ce que l’Éternel a déclaré à Moïse, homme de Dieu, au sujet de moi et au sujet de toi, à Kadès Barnéa.
7 J’étais âgé de quarante ans lorsque Moïse, serviteur de l’Éternel, m’envoya de Kadès Barnéa pour explorer le pays, et je lui fis un rapport avec droiture de coeur.
8 Mes frères qui étaient montés avec moi découragèrent le peuple, mais moi je suivis pleinement la voie de l’Éternel, mon Dieu.
9 Et ce jour-là Moïse jura, en disant: Le pays que ton pied a foulé sera ton héritage à perpétuité, pour toi et pour tes enfants, parce que tu as pleinement suivi la voie de l’Éternel, mon Dieu.
10 Maintenant voici, l’Éternel m’a fait vivre, comme il l’a dit. Il y a quarante-cinq ans que l’Éternel parlait ainsi à Moïse, lorsqu’Israël marchait dans le désert; et maintenant voici, je suis âgé aujourd’hui de quatre-vingt-cinq ans.
11 Je suis encore vigoureux comme au jour où Moïse m’envoya; j’ai autant de force que j’en avais alors, soit pour combattre, soit pour sortir et pour entrer.
12 Donne-moi donc cette montagne dont l’Éternel a parlé dans ce temps-là; car tu as appris alors qu’il s’y trouve des Anakim, et qu’il y a des villes grandes et fortifiées. L’Éternel sera peut-être avec moi, et je les chasserai, comme l’Éternel a dit.
13 Josué bénit Caleb, fils de Jephunné, et il lui donna Hébron pour héritage.
14 C’est ainsi que Caleb, fils de Jephunné, le Kenizien, a eu jusqu’à ce jour Hébron pour héritage, parce qu’il avait pleinement suivi la voie de l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël.
15 Hébron s’appelait autrefois Kirjath Arba: Arba avait été l’homme le plus grand parmi les Anakim. Le pays fut dès lors en repos et sans guerre.

Joshua 14
1 And these are the countries which the children of Israel inherited in the land of Canaan, which Eleazar the priest, and Joshua the son of Nun, and the heads of the fathers of the tribes of the children of Israel, distributed for inheritance to them.
2 By lot was their inheritance, as the Lord commanded by the hand of Moses, for the nine tribes, and for the half tribe.
3 For Moses had given the inheritance of two tribes and an half tribe on the other side Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave none inheritance among them.
4 For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell in, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.
5 As the Lord commanded Moses, so the children of Israel did, and they divided the land.
6 Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the Lord said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadeshbarnea.
7 Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart.
8 Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the Lord my God.
9 And Moses sware on that day, saying, Surely the land whereon thy feet have trodden shall be thine inheritance, and thy children’s for ever, because thou hast wholly followed the Lord my God.
10 And now, behold, the Lord hath kept me alive, as he said, these forty and five years, even since the Lord spake this word unto Moses, while the children of Israel wandered in the wilderness: and now, lo, I am this day fourscore and five years old.
11 As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in.
12 Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the Lord said.
13 And Joshua blessed him, and gave unto Caleb the son of Jephunneh Hebron for an inheritance.
14 Hebron therefore became the inheritance of Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite unto this day, because that he wholly followed the Lord God of Israel.
15 And the name of Hebron before was Kirjatharba; which Arba was a great man among the Anakims. And the land had rest from war.
