Deteronòm 29
1 Men pawòl ki te nan kontra Seyè a te bay Moyiz lòd pase ak moun pèp Izrayèl yo, lè yo te nan peyi Moab la. Kontra sa a te vin mete sou kontra li te deja fè ak yo sou Mòn Orèb la.
2 Moyiz fè rele tout pèp Izrayèl la, li di yo konsa: -Nou wè ak je nou tou sa Seyè a te fè wa peyi Lejip la, moun ki t’ap travay ak li yo ak tout peyi a.
3 Nou wè ak je nou tout gwo malè li te voye sou yo, tout mirak ak tout mèvèy li te fè.
4 Men, jouk koulye a, Seyè a poko louvri lespri nou ase pou nou konprann byen konprann tou sa nou wè ak tou sa nou tande.
5 Pandan karantan, mwen pran men nou, mwen moutre nou chemen pou nou swiv nan dezè a. Rad sou nou pa t’ janm chire, sapat nan pye nou pa t’ janm fini.
6 Nou pa t’ gen pen pou nou manje, ni diven, ni ankenn bwason pou nou bwè, men Seyè a te ban nou tou sa nou bezwen pou n’ te ka konnen se li menm, Seyè a, ki Bondye nou an.
7 Rive nou rive isit la, Siyon, wa Esbon an ak Og, wa Bazan an, soti vin atake nou. Nou bat yo byen bat.
8 Nou pran peyi yo a bay moun branch fanmi Woubenn yo, moun branch fanmi Gad yo ansanm ak mwatye nan moun branch fanmi Manase yo pou yo rete.
9 N’a kenbe kontra sa a. N’a fè tou sa ki di ladan l’ pou nou ka reyisi nan tout sa n’ap fè.
10 Jòdi a, men nou tout nou reyini la a devan Seyè a, Bondye nou an, nou menm chèf tout branch fanmi nou yo, tout chèf fanmi nou yo ak tout lòt chèf yo, ak tout lòt gason nan pèp Izrayèl la,
11 tout pitit nou yo, madanm nou yo, tout moun lòt nasyon k’ap viv nan mitan nou yo, depi sa k’ap koupe bwa jouk sa ki la pou al chache dlo pou nou,
12 nou vin pran angajman sou sèman pou nou asepte tout egzijans kontra Seyè a, Bondye nou an, ap pase ak nou jòdi a.
13 Konsa depi jòdi a, se pèp li nou ye, se Bondye pa nou li ye, jan l’ te di l’ la, jan l’ te pwomèt Abraram, Izarak ak Jakòb, zansèt nou yo.
14 Men, se pa avèk nou menm sèlman l’ap pase kontra li te fè nou sèmante pou n’ kenbe a.
15 Men se pa sèlman ak nou tout ki la jòdi a devan mwen, men tou se avèk tout pitit nou yo ki poko fèt.
16 Nou konnen byen pwòp ki kalite lavi nou t’ap mennen nan pèyi Lejip la ak ki jan nou te pase nan mitan moun lòt nasyon nou te kontre sou wout nou.
17 Nou te wè tout vye bagay yo t’ap fè, ak tout zidòl fèt an bwa, osinon ak wòch, osinon an ajan oswa an lò yo te gen lakay yo.
18 Piga pesonn nan mitan nou, ni fanm ni gason, nan ankenn fanmi ni branch fanmi pèp la vire do bay Seyè a, Bondye nou an, pou y’ al sèvi zidòl moun sa yo. Piga pesonn nan mitan nou tounen yon move grenn k’ap detounen pèp la, k’ap anpwazonnen l’.
19 Si yon moun, apre li fin tande sa ki di nan kontra a ak tout egzijans ki ladan l’ yo, mete nan tèt li se bon li bon, epi li di nan kè l’: Koulye a, mwen pa bezwen pè anyen. Mwen gen dwa fè sa m’ pi pito, sa ap lakòz nou tout ap mouri, inonsan kou koupab.
20 Bondye p’ap janm padonnen yon moun konsa. Okontre, Bondye, ki yon Bondye ki fè jalouzi anpil pou moun pa li yo, ap fache yon sèl fache sou nonm sa a, tout madichon ki ekri nan liv sa a pral tonbe sou li. Bondye ap fè non l’ disparèt nèt sou latè.
21 Seyè a va wete l’ nan mitan rès moun pèp Izrayèl yo, l’a pini l’ dapre madichon n’a jwenn nan kontra ki ekri nan liv lalwa Seyè a.
22 Moun k’ap vin apre nou yo, pitit nou yo k’ap fèt apre nou ansanm ak moun lòt nasyon k’ap soti byen lwen yo, va wè malè ki tonbe sou peyi a ak tout maladi Seyè a voye nan peyi a.
23 Y’a wè tout peyi a kouvri anba souf ak sèl, tout tè a boule. Lè sa a, moun p’ap ka simen anyen nan tè a, ankenn plant p’ap ka pran ladan l’. Pa menm vye zèb p’ap ka pouse. Peyi nou an va tankou lavil Sodòm ak Gomò, tankou lavil Adma ak Siboyen, lavil Seyè a te detwi nèt lè l’ te ankòlè a, lè l’ te move anpil la.
24 Lè sa a, tout moun sou latè va mande: Poukisa Seyè a fè moun sa yo sa? Pouki tout kòlè sa a sou peyi a?
25 Y’a reponn yo: Se paske yo pa t’ kenbe kontra Seyè a, Bondye zansèt yo a, kontra li te pase ak yo lè li t’ap fè yo soti kite peyi Lejip la.
26 Yo leve al sèvi lòt bondye yo pa t’ janm konnen anvan. Y’ al mete ajenou devan bondye Seyè a pa t’ ba yo pou yo sèvi.
27 Se konsa Seyè a vin fache anpil sou moun peyi sa a. Li sitèlman fache, li fè tout madichon ki ekri nan liv lalwa a tonbe sou yo.
28 Seyè a fè kòlè, li move, li fache, li rache yo met deyò nan peyi yo a, l’ al jete yo nan yon lòt peyi etranje kote yo ye koulye a.
29 Gen bagay nou pa konnen, se bagay Bondye kenbe nan kè l’ pou li menm. Men, bagay li fè nou konnen yo, se bagay nou menm ak pitit nou yo pa dwe janm bliye pou nou ka fè tou sa li mande nou fè nan lalwa a.

1 Voici les paroles de l’alliance que l’Éternel ordonna à Moïse de traiter avec les enfants d’Israël au pays de Moab, outre l’alliance qu’il avait traitée avec eux à Horeb.
2 Moïse convoqua tout Israël, et leur dit: Vous avez vu tout ce que l’Éternel a fait sous vos yeux, dans le pays d’Égypte, à Pharaon, à tous ses serviteurs, et à tout son pays,
3 les grandes épreuves que tes yeux ont vues, ces miracles et ces grands prodiges.
4 Mais, jusqu’à ce jour, l’Éternel ne vous a pas donné un coeur pour comprendre, des yeux pour voir, des oreilles pour entendre.
5 Je t’ai conduit pendant quarante années dans le désert; tes vêtements ne se sont point usés sur toi, et ton soulier ne s’est point usé à ton pied;
6 vous n’avez point mangé de pain, et vous n’avez bu ni vin ni liqueur forte, afin que vous connussiez que je suis l’Éternel, votre Dieu.
7 Vous êtes arrivés dans ce lieu; Sihon, roi de Hesbon, et Og, roi de Basan, sont sortis à notre rencontre, pour nous combattre, et nous les avons battus.
8 Nous avons pris leur pays, et nous l’avons donné en propriété aux Rubénites, aux Gadites et à la moitié de la tribu des Manassites.
9 Vous observerez donc les paroles de cette alliance, et vous les mettrez en pratique, afin de réussir dans tout ce que vous ferez.
10 Vous vous présentez aujourd’hui devant l’Éternel, votre Dieu, vous tous, vos chefs de tribus, vos anciens, vos officiers, tous les hommes d’Israël,
11 vos enfants, vos femmes, et l’étranger qui est au milieu de ton camp, depuis celui qui coupe ton bois jusqu’à celui qui puise ton eau.
12 Tu te présentes pour entrer dans l’alliance de l’Éternel, ton Dieu, dans cette alliance contractée avec serment, et que l’Éternel, ton Dieu, traite en ce jour avec toi,
13 afin de t’établir aujourd’hui pour son peuple et d’être lui-même ton Dieu, comme il te l’a dit, et comme il l’a juré à tes pères, Abraham, Isaac et Jacob.
14 Ce n’est point avec vous seuls que je traite cette alliance, cette alliance contractée avec serment.
15 Mais c’est avec ceux qui sont ici parmi nous, présents en ce jour devant l’Éternel, notre Dieu, et avec ceux qui ne sont point ici parmi nous en ce jour.
16 Vous savez de quelle manière nous avons habité dans le pays d’Égypte, et comment nous avons passé au milieu des nations que vous avez traversées.
17 Vous avez vu leurs abominations et leurs idoles, le bois et la pierre, l’argent et l’or, qui sont chez elles.
18 Qu’il n’y ait parmi vous ni homme, ni femme, ni famille, ni tribu, dont le coeur se détourne aujourd’hui de l’Éternel, notre Dieu, pour aller servir les dieux de ces nations-là. Qu’il n’y ait point parmi vous de racine qui produise du poison et de l’absinthe.
19 Que personne, après avoir entendu les paroles de cette alliance contractée avec serment, ne se glorifie dans son coeur et ne dise: J’aurai la paix, quand même je suivrai les penchants de mon coeur, et que j’ajouterai l’ivresse à la soif.
20 L’Éternel ne voudra point lui pardonner. Mais alors la colère et la jalousie de l’Éternel s’enflammeront contre cet homme, toutes les malédictions écrites dans ce livre reposeront sur lui, et l’Éternel effacera son nom de dessous les cieux.
21 L’Éternel le séparera, pour son malheur, de toutes les tribus d’Israël, selon toutes les malédictions de l’alliance écrite dans ce livre de la loi.
22 Les générations à venir, vos enfants qui naîtront après vous et l’étranger qui viendra d’une terre lointaine, -à la vue des plaies et des maladies dont l’Éternel aura frappé ce pays, à la vue du soufre, du sel,
23 de l’embrasement de toute la contrée, où il n’y aura ni semence, ni produit, ni aucune herbe qui croisse, comme au bouleversement de Sodome, de Gomorrhe, d’Adma et de Tseboïm, que l’Éternel détruisit dans sa colère et dans sa fureur, –
24 toutes les nations diront: Pourquoi l’Éternel a-t-il ainsi traité ce pays? pourquoi cette ardente, cette grande colère?
25 Et l’on répondra: C’est parce qu’ils ont abandonné l’alliance contractée avec eux par l’Éternel, le Dieu de leurs pères, lorsqu’il les fit sortir du pays d’Égypte;
26 c’est parce qu’ils sont allés servir d’autres dieux et se prosterner devant eux, des dieux qu’ils ne connaissaient point et que l’Éternel ne leur avait point donnés en partage.
27 Alors la colère de l’Éternel s’est enflammée contre ce pays, et il a fait venir sur lui toutes les malédictions écrites dans ce livre.
28 L’Éternel les a arrachés de leur pays avec colère, avec fureur, avec une grande indignation, et il les a jetés sur un autre pays, comme on le voit aujourd’hui.
29 Les choses cachées sont à l’Éternel, notre Dieu; les choses révélées sont à nous et à nos enfants, à perpétuité, afin que nous mettions en pratique toutes les paroles de cette loi.

1 These are the words of the covenant, which the Lord commanded Moses to make with the children of Israel in the land of Moab, beside the covenant which he made with them in Horeb.
2 And Moses called unto all Israel, and said unto them, Ye have seen all that the Lord did before your eyes in the land of Egypt unto Pharaoh, and unto all his servants, and unto all his land;
3 The great temptations which thine eyes have seen, the signs, and those great miracles:
4 Yet the Lord hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
5 And I have led you forty years in the wilderness: your clothes are not waxen old upon you, and thy shoe is not waxen old upon thy foot.
6 Ye have not eaten bread, neither have ye drunk wine or strong drink: that ye might know that I am the Lord your God.
7 And when ye came unto this place, Sihon the king of Heshbon, and Og the king of Bashan, came out against us unto battle, and we smote them:
8 And we took their land, and gave it for an inheritance unto the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to the half tribe of Manasseh.
9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.
10 Ye stand this day all of you before the Lord your God; your captains of your tribes, your elders, and your officers, with all the men of Israel,
11 Your little ones, your wives, and thy stranger that is in thy camp, from the hewer of thy wood unto the drawer of thy water:
12 That thou shouldest enter into covenant with the Lord thy God, and into his oath, which the Lord thy God maketh with thee this day:
13 That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
14 Neither with you only do I make this covenant and this oath;
15 But with him that standeth here with us this day before the Lord our God, and also with him that is not here with us this day:
16 (For ye know how we have dwelt in the land of Egypt; and how we came through the nations which ye passed by;
17 And ye have seen their abominations, and their idols, wood and stone, silver and gold, which were among them:)
18 Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the Lord our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and wormwood;
19 And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:
20 The Lord will not spare him, but then the anger of the Lord and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the Lord shall blot out his name from under heaven.
21 And the Lord shall separate him unto evil out of all the tribes of Israel, according to all the curses of the covenant that are written in this book of the law:
22 So that the generation to come of your children that shall rise up after you, and the stranger that shall come from a far land, shall say, when they see the plagues of that land, and the sicknesses which the Lord hath laid upon it;
23 And that the whole land thereof is brimstone, and salt, and burning, that it is not sown, nor beareth, nor any grass groweth therein, like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the Lord overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath:
24 Even all nations shall say, Wherefore hath the Lord done thus unto this land? what meaneth the heat of this great anger?
25 Then men shall say, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the Lord God of their fathers, which he made with them when he brought them forth out of the land of Egypt:
26 For they went and served other gods, and worshipped them, gods whom they knew not, and whom he had not given unto them:
27 And the anger of the Lord was kindled against this land, to bring upon it all the curses that are written in this book:
28 And the Lord rooted them out of their land in anger, and in wrath, and in great indignation, and cast them into another land, as it is this day.
29 The secret things belong unto the Lord our God: but those things which are revealed belong unto us and to our children for ever, that we may do all the words of this law.
