1 Yon lè Samson desann lavil Gaza, li wè yon jennès, li antre kay jennès la.
2 Moun lavil Gaza yo vin konnen Samson te la nan lavil la. Yo mache chache l’ toupatou, yo pase nwit la ap veye l’ bò pòtay lavil la. Yo pa fè bri menm tout nwit la. Yo t’ap di nan kè yo: -N’ap tann solèy leve, lè sa a n’a touye l’.
3 Samson rete kouche jouk nan mitan lannwit lan. Lè sa a, li leve, li pran de batan pòtay lavil la, li rache yo ansanm ak tout montan yo ak bwa travès ki te pase dèyè batan yo. Li mete yo sou zepòl li, li pote yo ale sou tèt mòn ki anfas lavil Ebwon an.
4 Aprè sa, Samson tonbe damou pou yon fanm ki te rete nan Ravin Sorèk. Fanm lan te rele Dalila.
5 Gwo chèf moun Filisti yo al jwenn Dalila, yo di l’ konsa: -Pran tèt Samson! Chache konnen sa ki ba li tout fòs sa a, kijan nou ka met men sou li. N’a mare l’ anba kòd, n’a rann li san fòs. Lèfini, nou chak n’a ba ou milsan (1.100) pyès lajan.
6 Se konsa, Dalila al di Samson: -Tanpri, di m’ sa ki ba ou tout fòs sa a. Manyè di m’ kouman yo ta ka mare ou pou kraze kouraj ou.
7 Samson reponn li: -Si yo mare m’ avèk sèt kòd tou nèf ki poko fin cheche m’ap pèdi tout fòs mwen, m’ap tankou nenpòt ki moun.
8 Chèf moun Filisti yo pote sèt kòd tou nèf ki pa t’ ankò fin cheche bay Dalila. Dalila mare Samson avèk kòd yo.
9 Li te fè kèk moun kache nan yon lòt chanm, epi li rete konsa, li di: -Samson! Men moun Filisti yo sou ou! Samson kase kòd yo. Moso kòd yo tonbe atè ou ta di fil boule nan dife. Konsa yo pa t’ rive konnen sa ki te ba l’ tout fòs sa a.
10 Dalila di Samson: -Gade jan ou pase m’ nan betiz! On ban m’ manti! Tanpri, di m’ non! Ki jan yo ka mare ou!
11 Samson di l’ konsa: -Si yo mare m’ ak kòd tou nèf ki poko janm sèvi pou fè ankenn travay, m’ap pèdi tout fòs mwen, m’ap tankou nenpòt ki moun.
12 Dalila pran kèk kòd tou nèf, li mare Samson avèk yo, epi li di: -Samson! Men moun Filisti yo sou ou! Li te mete moun yo kache nan lòt chanm lan. Men, Samson kase kòd ki te mare bra l’ yo tankou si se te fil yo te ye.
13 Dalila di Samson: -W’ap pase m’ nan betiz toujou. W’ap ban m’ manti. Tanpri, moutre m’ kijan yo ka mare ou. Samson di l’: -Si ou pran sèt très cheve m’ yo ou trese yo ansanm epi ou kenbè yo ak yon gwo peny, m’ap pedi tout fòs mwen, m’ap tankou nenpòt ki moun.
14 Dalila fè l’ dòmi. Li trese sèt très cheve l’ yo ansanm, li sere yo byen sere avèk yon gwo peny, epi li rele: -Samson! Men moun Filisti yo sou ou! Samson leve, li rache peny lan, li detrese cheve l’ yo.
15 Dalila di l’ konsa: -Ou pa bezwen di ou renmen m’ menm, paske ou pa sensè avè m’. Sa fè twa fwa ou pase m’ nan betiz. Ou pa janm di m’ ki bò ou jwenn tout fòs sa a.
16 Chak jou li rete la nan kò Samson, l’ap plenyen nan tèt li. Samson pa t’ kapab ankò, rete pou l’ te mouri.
17 Bout pou bout li ba li sekrè a, li di l’ konsa: -Mwen pa janm koupe cheve nan tèt mwen. Se yon nazirit mwen ye, yo mete m’ apa pou Bondye depi nan vant manman m’. Si yo koupe tout cheve nan tèt mwen, m’ap pèdi tout fòs mwen, m’ap tankou nenpòt ki moun.
18 Lè Dalila wè Samson te ba l’ sekrè a, li voye rele chèf moun Filisti yo, li di yo: -Fwa sa a, nou mèt vini, paske li ban m’ sekrè a. Chèf moun Filisti yo vin jwenn li. Yo tou pote lajan an avèk yo.
19 Dalila fè dòmi pran Samson sou jenou l’, li fè rele yon nonm ki koupe sèt très cheve Samson yo ra. Epi li seye fè fòs ak li. Men Samson te pèdi tout fòs li.
20 Lè sa a, Dalila rele: -Samson! Men moun Filisti yo sou ou! Msye leve, li t’ap di nan kè l’ l’ap soti anba kòd yo, l’ap met deyò tankou lòt fwa yo. Men, li pa t’ konnen Seyè a pa t’ avè l’ ankò.
21 Moun Filisti yo mete men sou li, epi yo pete de grenn je l’ yo. Yo mennen l’ lavil Gaza, yo mare l’ avèk de gwo chenn an asye. Se li menm yo te fè vire gwo wòl moulen prizon an.
22 Men, cheve l’ te konmanse pouse ankò.
23 Aprè sa, yon jou, chèf moun Filisti yo te reyini pou fè yon gwo sèvis pou Dagon, bondye yo a. Yo t’ap fè fèt. Yo t’ap di: -Bondye nou an lage Samson, lènmi nou an, nan men nou.
24 Lè pèp la te wè Samson, yo t’ap fè lwanj pou bondye yo a. Yo t’ap di: -Bondye nou an fè nou mete men sou Samson lènmi nou an ki t’ap devaste peyi a, ki t’ap touye tout moun sa yo nan mitan nou.
25 Kè tout moun te kontan. Yo di konsa: -Fè chache Samson pou n’ ka pran plezi nou ak li. Y’ al chache Samson nan prizon an, yo mennen l’ devan yo pou yo te ka pran plezi yo avè l’. Yo mete msye nan mitan de gwo poto.
26 Samson di ti bway ki te kenbe men l’ lan: -Mennen m’ bò de gwo poto ki kenbe tout tanp lan. Mete men m’ sou yo pou m’ ka fè yon ti apiye.
27 Tanp lan te plen moun, fanm kou gason. Tout chèf moun Filisti yo te la. Te gen twamil (3.000) moun konsa, fanm kou gason, anwo twati a ki t’ap gade Samson, ki t’ap pran plezi yo ak li.
28 Lè sa a, Samson lapriyè nan pye Bondye, li di: -O Bondye Seyè! Tanpri, chonje m’ non jòdi a! Tanpri, Bondye, ban m’ fòs ankò pou yon dènye fwa, pou m’ ka fè moun Filisti yo peye yon grenn kou pou de je m’ yo pete a.
29 Epi Samson mete men l’ sou de gwo poto mitan ki te kenbe tout tanp lan. Li apiye yon men l’ sou chak.
30 Epi li di: -M’ te mèt mouri ansanm ak moun Filisti yo. Li pouse ak tout fòs li sou poto yo, epi tanp lan tonbe sou tout chèf yo ak sou tout moun ki te la yo. Jou li mouri a, li te touye plis moun pase kantite moun li te touye pandan lavi li.
31 Frè l’ yo ansanm ak tout fanmi l’ yo desann vin pran kadav la. Yo pote l’ tounen lakay yo, yo antere l’ nan kavo Manoak, papa li, ant lavil Soreja ak lavil Echtawòl. Li te pase ventan (20 an) ap gouvènen moun pèp Izrayèl la.

1 Samson partit pour Gaza; il y vit une femme prostituée, et il entra chez elle.
2 On dit aux gens de Gaza: Samson est arrivé ici. Et ils l’environnèrent, et se tinrent en embuscade toute la nuit à la porte de la ville. Ils restèrent tranquilles toute la nuit, disant: Au point du jour, nous le tuerons.
3 Samson demeura couché jusqu’à minuit. Vers minuit, il se leva; et il saisit les battants de la porte de la ville et les deux poteaux, les arracha avec la barre, les mit sur ses épaules, et les porta sur le sommet de la montagne qui est en face d’Hébron.
4 Après cela, il aima une femme dans la vallée de Sorek. Elle se nommait Delila.
5 Les princes des Philistins montèrent vers elle, et lui dirent: Flatte-le, pour savoir d’où lui vient sa grande force et comment nous pourrions nous rendre maîtres de lui; nous le lierons pour le dompter, et nous te donnerons chacun mille et cent sicles d’argent.
6 Delila dit à Samson: Dis-moi, je te prie, d’où vient ta grande force, et avec quoi il faudrait te lier pour te dompter.
7 Samson lui dit: Si on me liait avec sept cordes fraîches, qui ne fussent pas encore sèches, je deviendrais faible et je serais comme un autre homme.
8 Les princes des Philistins apportèrent à Delila sept cordes fraîches, qui n’étaient pas encore sèches. Et elle le lia avec ces cordes.
9 Or des gens se tenaient en embuscade chez elle, dans une chambre. Elle lui dit: Les Philistins sont sur toi, Samson! Et il rompit les cordes, comme se rompt un cordon d’étoupe quand il sent le feu. Et l’on ne connut point d’où venait sa force.
10 Delila dit à Samson: Voici, tu t’es joué de moi, tu m’as dit des mensonges. Maintenant, je te prie, indique-moi avec quoi il faut te lier.
11 Il lui dit: Si on me liait avec des cordes neuves, dont on ne se fût jamais servi, je deviendrais faible et je serais comme un autre homme.
12 Delila prit des cordes neuves, avec lesquelles elle le lia. Puis elle lui dit: Les Philistins sont sur toi, Samson! Or des gens se tenaient en embuscade dans une chambre. Et il rompit comme un fil les cordes qu’il avait aux bras.
13 Delila dit à Samson: Jusqu’à présent tu t’es joué de moi, tu m’as dit des mensonges. Déclare-moi avec quoi il faut te lier. Il lui dit: Tu n’as qu’à tisser les sept tresses de ma tête avec la chaîne du tissu.
14 Et elle les fixa par la cheville. Puis elle lui dit: Les Philistins sont sur toi, Samson! Et il se réveilla de son sommeil, et il arracha la cheville du tissu et le tissu.
15 Elle lui dit: Comment peux-tu dire: Je t’aime! puisque ton coeur n’est pas avec moi? Voilà trois fois que tu t’es joué de moi, et tu ne m’as pas déclaré d’où vient ta grande force.
16 Comme elle était chaque jour à le tourmenter et à l’importuner par ses instances, son âme s’impatienta à la mort,
17 il lui ouvrit tout son coeur, et lui dit: Le rasoir n’a point passé sur ma tête, parce que je suis consacré à Dieu dès le ventre de ma mère. Si j’étais rasé, ma force m’abandonnerait, je deviendrais faible, et je serais comme tout autre homme.
18 Delila, voyant qu’il lui avait ouvert tout son coeur, envoya appeler les princes des Philistins, et leur fit dire: Montez cette fois, car il m’a ouvert tout son coeur. Et les princes des Philistins montèrent vers elle, et apportèrent l’argent dans leurs mains.
19 Elle l’endormit sur ses genoux. Et ayant appelé un homme, elle rasa les sept tresses de la tête de Samson, et commença ainsi à le dompter. Il perdit sa force.
20 Elle dit alors: Les Philistins sont sur toi, Samson! Et il se réveilla de son sommeil, et dit: Je m’en tirerai comme les autres fois, et je me dégagerai. Il ne savait pas que l’Éternel s’était retiré de lui.
21 Les Philistins le saisirent, et lui crevèrent les yeux; ils le firent descendre à Gaza, et le lièrent avec des chaînes d’airain. Il tournait la meule dans la prison.
22 Cependant les cheveux de sa tête recommençaient à croître, depuis qu’il avait été rasé.
23 Or les princes des Philistins s’assemblèrent pour offrir un grand sacrifice à Dagon, leur dieu, et pour se réjouir. Ils disaient: Notre dieu a livré entre nos mains Samson, notre ennemi.
24 Et quand le peuple le vit, ils célébrèrent leur dieu, en disant: Notre dieu a livré entre nos mains notre ennemi, celui qui ravageait notre pays, et qui multipliait nos morts.
25 Dans la joie de leur coeur, ils dirent: Qu’on appelle Samson, et qu’il nous divertisse! Ils firent sortir Samson de la prison, et il joua devant eux. Ils le placèrent entre les colonnes.
26 Et Samson dit au jeune homme qui le tenait par la main: Laisse-moi, afin que je puisse toucher les colonnes sur lesquelles repose la maison et m’appuyer contre elles.
27 La maison était remplie d’hommes et de femmes; tous les princes des Philistins étaient là, et il y avait sur le toit environ trois mille personnes, hommes et femmes, qui regardaient Samson jouer.
28 Alors Samson invoqua l’Éternel, et dit: Seigneur Éternel! souviens-toi de moi, je te prie; ô Dieu! donne-moi de la force seulement cette fois, et que d’un seul coup je tire vengeance des Philistins pour mes deux yeux!
29 Et Samson embrassa les deux colonnes du milieu sur lesquelles reposait la maison, et il s’appuya contre elles; l’une était à sa droite, et l’autre à sa gauche.
30 Samson dit: Que je meure avec les Philistins! Il se pencha fortement, et la maison tomba sur les princes et sur tout le peuple qui y était. Ceux qu’il fit périr à sa mort furent plus nombreux que ceux qu’il avait tués pendant sa vie.
31 Ses frères et toute la maison de son père descendirent, et l’emportèrent. Lorsqu’ils furent remontés, ils l’enterrèrent entre Tsorea et Eschthaol dans le sépulcre de Manoach, son père. Il avait été juge en Israël pendant vingt ans.

1 Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot, and went in unto her.
2 And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they compassed him in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him.
3 And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before Hebron.
4 And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.
5 And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.
6 And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.
7 And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
8 Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.
9 Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.
10 And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.
11 And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
12 Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.
13 And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.
14 And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.
15 And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth.
16 And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;
17 That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother’s womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.
18 And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.
19 And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.
20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him.
21 But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.
22 Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.
23 Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.
24 And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us.
25 And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.
26 And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.
27 Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.
28 And Samson called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.
29 And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.
30 And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.
31 Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years.
