2 Apre sa, wa a moute nan Tanp Seyè a ansanm avèk prèt yo, pwofèt yo, tout moun peyi Jida yo, moun ki rete lavil Jerizalèm yo ak tout rès pèp la, grannèg kou tinèg. Wa a kanpe devan yo tout, li li byen fò tou sa ki te nan Liv Kontra yo te jwenn nan Tanp Seyè a.
3 Lè li fini, li rete kanpe nan plas rezève pou li bò gwo poto a, li pran angajman devan Seyè a pou li fè volonte Seyè a, pou li mache dapre kòmandman, prensip ak lòd Bondye yo ak tout kè li ak tout nanm li. Lèfini, pou l’ kenbe tout kondisyon kontra ki ekri nan liv la. Tout pèp la pran angajman pou yo kenbe kontra a tou.
4 Apre sa, Jozyas rele Ilkija, granprèt la, prèt ki te avè l’ yo ak sòlda ki te desèvis nan pòt Tanp lan, li ba yo lòd al pran nan Tanp lan tout bagay yo te fè pou Baal, pou Achera ak pou zetwal yo, pote yo deyò. Wa a boule tout bagay sa yo andeyò lavil la, bò fon Sedwon an. Lèfini, li fè pote tout sann yo lavil Betèl.
5 Li revoke tout prèt ansyen wa peyi Jida yo te nonmen pou fè sèvis sou lotèl zidòl yo nan lavil peyi Jida yo ak nan zòn Jerizalèm, tout prèt ki t’ap fè sèvis pou Baal, pou solèy, pou lalin, pou douz gwoup zetwal yo ak pou tout lòt zetwal yo.
6 Li wete estati Achera, zidòl fanm ki te nan Tanp lan, li fè yo pote l’ andeyò lavil la nan fon Sedwon. Li boule l’, li kraze l’ fè l’ tounen pousyè, l’ al simen pousyè a nan simityè pèp la.
7 Li demoli tout kay kote mesyedam k’ap fè jennès pou zidòl yo te rete nan Tanp Seyè a. Se la medam yo te konn fè twal pou estati Achera a tou.
8 Lèfini, li fè tout prèt ki te rete nan lavil peyi Jida yo antre lavil Jerizalèm. Li mache nan tout peyi a depi lavil Geba jouk lavil Bècheba, li gate tout kote prèt sa yo te konn fè sèvis pou zidòl yo, kifè yo pa t’ ka sèvi pou sa ankò. Li demoli lotèl pòtay yo, ki te bò pòtay Jozye, gouvènè lavil la, te bati sou bò gòch pòtay prensipal la lè w’ap antre.
9 Tansèlman, prèt ki te sèvi nan tanp zidòl sa yo pa t’ gen dwa sèvi nan Tanp lan ankò, men yo te gen dwa manje pen san ledven ansanm ak lòt prèt parèy yo.
10 Wa Jozyas gate Tofèt la tou, yon tanp zidòl ki te nan fon Enon an, konsa pesonn pa t’ ka ofri pitit fi osinon pitit gason yo pou boule pou Molòk ankò.
11 Li wete chwal wa Jida yo te mete apa pou sèvis bondye Solèy la. Li boule cha ki te konn sèvi nan sèvis pou solèy la. Se nan yon pyès nan lakou tanp lan yo te ye, toupre pòtay la, bò kay kote Netanmelèk, nèg konfyans wa a, te rete.
12 Wa Jozyas demoli lotèl wa Jida yo te fè bati sou teras anwo apatman wa Akaz la, ansanm ak lotèl wa Manase te bati nan de lakou Tanp lan. Li kraze lotèl yo an miyèt moso, li voye yo jete nan fon Sedwon.
13 Jozyas gate tout lotèl wa Salomon te fè bati sou bò solèy leve lavil Jerizalèm, sou bò sid Mòn Pye Oliv yo, pou fè sèvis pou Astate, vye zidòl peyi Sidon an, pou Kemòch, vye zidòl peyi Moab la, ak Milkòm, vye zidòl peyi Amon an.
14 Wa Jozyas kraze Poto Wòch yo, li koupe estati Achera, zidòl fanm lan. Li kouvri tout kote yo te ye a ak zosman moun.
15 Jozyas demoli lotèl ak tanp zidòl wa Jewoboram, pitit Nebat la, te bati lavil Betèl la tou. Se Jewoboram sa a ki te lakòz pèp Izrayèl la fè sa ki mal. Li kraze lotèl la, li fè wòch yo tounen poud. Li boule estati Achera a.
16 Lèfini, Jozyas voye je l’ sou ti mòn lan, li wè yon bann tonm. Li fè detere zosman yo pou boule yo sou lotèl la. Se konsa li gate lotèl la, jan Seyè a te fè pwofèt la di l’ la lè Jewoboram te kanpe bò lotèl la pandan fèt la. Apre sa, Jozyas voye je l’ gade ankò, li wè tonm pwofèt ki te fè konnen bagay sa yo gen pou rive a.
17 Li mande: –Ki gwo tonm mwen wè laba a: Moun Betèl yo reponn: –Se tonm pwofèt ki te soti peyi Jida vin fè nou konnen sa monwa t’ap vin fè lotèl Betèl la.
18 Jozyas di: –Bon. Kite l’ jan li ye a! Piga pesonn manyen zosman li yo. Se konsa yo respekte zosman li yo ansanm ak zosman pwofèt ki te soti lavil Samari a.
19 Nan tout lavil peyi Izrayèl yo, wa Jozyas demoli tout kay zidòl wa peyi Izrayèl yo te fè bati epi ki te lakòz Seyè a te fache anpil. Li fè yo tou sa li te fè tanp zidòl lavil Betèl yo.
20 Li mete men sou tout prèt zidòl li te jwenn la yo, li touye yo sou lotèl yo. Lèfini, li boule zosman moun sou yo. Apre sa, li tounen tounen l’ lavil Jerizalèm.
21 Wa Jozyas bay pèp la lòd pou yo fete fèt Delivrans lan pou fè lwanj Seyè a, Bondye yo a, jan sa ekri nan Liv Kontra a.
22 Yo pa t’ janm fete fèt Delivrans lan konsa depi lè jij chèf yo t’ap gouvènen peyi a, ni pandan reny tout wa peyi Izrayèl yo ak tout wa peyi Jida yo.
23 Se sèlman sou reny wa Jozyas yo fete fèt Delivrans lan konsa lavil Jerizalèm pou Seyè a. Lè sa a, wa a t’ap mache sou dizwitan depi li t’ap gouvènen peyi a.
24 Jozyas fè disparèt tout divinò ak tout moun ki konn rele mò, tout estati zidòl wogatwa ak lòt vye zidòl degoutan, ak tout lòt vye bagay yo te konn wè nan tout peyi Jida ak nan lavil Jerizalèm. Li fè sa pou l’ te ka kenbe kòmandman ak prensip ki ekri nan liv Lalwa Ilkija, prèt la, te jwenn nan Tanp Seyè a.
25 Ni anvan l’, ni apre l’, pa t’ janm gen yon wa tankou l’ ki te sèvi Seyè a ak tout kè li, ak tout nanm li, ak tout kouraj li, jan lalwa Moyiz mande l’ la.
26 Men malgre sa, Seyè a te move toujou sou pèp peyi Jida a depi lè li te fache sou Manase pou sa l’ te fè a.
27 Se poutèt sa, Seyè a di: –Mwen pral wete moun peyi Jida yo devan je m’ menm jan m’ te fè l’ pou moun peyi Izrayèl yo. Se mwen ki te chwazi lavil Jerizalèm. Enben, m’ pral voye l’ jete ansanm ak Tanp mwen te di se la m’ap rete a.
28 Tout rès istwa Jozyas la ak tou sa li te fè, n’a jwenn yo ekri nan liv Istwa wa Jida yo.
29 Se sou reny Jozyas, farawon Neko, wa peyi Lejip, te moute nan direksyon larivyè Lefrat pou l’ al bay wa peyi Lasiri a yon koutmen. Wa Jozyas soti al kontre l’ pou anpeche li pase. Rive bò lavil Megido, wa Neko wè l’, li touye l’.

32 Men li fè sa ki mal nan je Seyè a tankou zansèt li yo.
33 Farawon Neko fèmen l’ nan prizon lavil Ribla nan zòn Amat, pou li pa gouvènen nan lavil Jerizalèm anko. Lè sa a tou, farawon an fè peyi Jida soumèt devan l’. Li fòse peyi a ba li sètmil senksan (7.500) liv ajan ak swasannkenz liv lò.
34 Apre sa, li pran Elyakim, pitit Jozyas, li mete l’ wa nan plas papa l’. Lè sa a, li chanje non Elyakim, li rele l’ Jojakim. Lèfini, li pran Joakaz, li mennen l’ nan peyi Lejip. Se la Joakaz mouri.
35 Jojakim bay farawon Neko tout ajan ak tout lò li te mande a. Pou l’ te ka jwenn yo, li te fè chak moun nan peyi a bay dapre sa yo genyen. Se konsa li te fòse pèp la bay ajan ak lò farawon Neko te mande a.
36 Jojakim te gen vennsenkan lè li moute wa peyi Jida. Li gouvènen lavil Jerizalèm pandan onzan. Manman l’ te rele Zebida. Se te pitit fi Pedaja, moun lavil Wouma.
37 Men li fè sa ki mal nan je Seyè a tankou zansèt li yo.

1 Le roi Josias fit assembler auprès de lui tous les anciens de Juda et de Jérusalem.
2 Puis il monta à la maison de l’Éternel, avec tous les hommes de Juda et tous les habitants de Jérusalem, les sacrificateurs, les prophètes, et tout le peuple, depuis le plus petit jusqu’au plus grand. Il lut devant eux toutes les paroles du livre de l’alliance, qu’on avait trouvé dans la maison de l’Éternel.
3 Le roi se tenait sur l’estrade, et il traita alliance devant l’Éternel, s’engageant à suivre l’Éternel, et à observer ses ordonnances, ses préceptes et ses lois, de tout son coeur et de toute son âme, afin de mettre en pratique les paroles de cette alliance, écrites dans ce livre. Et tout le peuple entra dans l’alliance.
4 Le roi ordonna à Hilkija, le souverain sacrificateur, aux sacrificateurs du second ordre, et à ceux qui gardaient le seuil, de sortir du temple de l’Éternel tous les ustensiles qui avaient été faits pour Baal, pour Astarté, et pour toute l’armée des cieux; et il les brûla hors de Jérusalem, dans les champs du Cédron, et en fit porter la poussière à Béthel.
5 Il chassa les prêtres des idoles, établis par les rois de Juda pour brûler des parfums sur les hauts lieux dans les villes de Juda et aux environs de Jérusalem, et ceux qui offraient des parfums à Baal, au soleil, à la lune, au zodiaque et à toute l’armée des cieux.
6 Il sortit de la maison de l’Éternel l’idole d’Astarté, qu’il transporta hors de Jérusalem vers le torrent de Cédron; il la brûla au torrent de Cédron et la réduisit en poussière, et il en jeta la poussière sur les sépulcres des enfants du peuple.
7 Il abattit les maisons des prostitués qui étaient dans la maison de l’Éternel, et où les femmes tissaient des tentes pour Astarté.
8 Il fit venir tous les prêtres des villes de Juda; il souilla les hauts lieux où les prêtres brûlaient des parfums, depuis Guéba jusqu’à Beer Schéba; et il renversa les hauts lieux des portes, celui qui était à l’entrée de la porte de Josué, chef de la ville, et celui qui était à gauche de la porte de la ville.
9 Toutefois les prêtres des hauts lieux ne montaient pas à l’autel de l’Éternel à Jérusalem, mais ils mangeaient des pains sans levain au milieu de leurs frères.
10 Le roi souilla Topheth dans la vallée des fils de Hinnom, afin que personne ne fît plus passer son fils ou sa fille par le feu en l’honneur de Moloc.
11 Il fit disparaître de l’entrée de la maison de l’Éternel les chevaux que les rois de Juda avaient consacrés au soleil, près de la chambre de l’eunuque Nethan Mélec, qui demeurait dans le faubourg; et il brûla au feu les chars du soleil.
12 Le roi démolit les autels qui étaient sur le toit de la chambre haute d’Achaz et que les rois de Juda avaient faits, et les autels qu’avait faits Manassé dans les deux parvis de la maison de l’Éternel; après les avoir brisés et enlevés de là, il en jeta la poussière dans le torrent de Cédron.
13 Le roi souilla les hauts lieux qui étaient en face de Jérusalem, sur la droite de la montagne de perdition, et que Salomon, roi d’Israël, avait bâtis à Astarté, l’abomination des Sidoniens, à Kemosch, l’abomination de Moab, et à Milcom, l’abomination des fils d’Ammon.
14 Il brisa les statues et abattit les idoles, et il remplit d’ossements d’hommes la place qu’elles occupaient.
15 Il renversa aussi l’autel qui était à Béthel, et le haut lieu qu’avait fait Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, qui avait fait pécher Israël; il brûla le haut lieu et le réduisit en poussière, et il brûla l’idole.
16 Josias, s’étant tourné et ayant vu les sépulcres qui étaient là dans la montagne, envoya prendre les ossements des sépulcres, et il les brûla sur l’autel et le souilla, selon la parole de l’Éternel prononcée par l’homme de Dieu qui avait annoncé ces choses.
17 Il dit: Quel est ce monument que je vois? Les gens de la ville lui répondirent: C’est le sépulcre de l’homme de Dieu, qui est venu de Juda, et qui a crié contre l’autel de Béthel ces choses que tu as accomplies.
18 Et il dit: Laissez-le; que personne ne remue ses os! On conserva ainsi ses os avec les os du prophète qui était venu de Samarie.
19 Josias fit encore disparaître toutes les maisons des hauts lieux, qui étaient dans les villes de Samarie, et qu’avaient faites les rois d’Israël pour irriter l’Éternel; il fit à leur égard entièrement comme il avait fait à Béthel.
20 Il immola sur les autels tous les prêtres des hauts lieux, qui étaient là, et il y brûla des ossements d’hommes. Puis il retourna à Jérusalem.
21 Le roi donna cet ordre à tout le peuple: Célébrez la Pâque en l’honneur de l’Éternel, votre Dieu, comme il est écrit dans ce livre de l’alliance.
22 Aucune Pâque pareille à celle-ci n’avait été célébrée depuis le temps où les juges jugeaient Israël et pendant tous les jours des rois d’Israël et des rois de Juda.
23 Ce fut la dix-huitième année du roi Josias qu’on célébra cette Pâque en l’honneur de l’Éternel à Jérusalem.
24 De plus, Josias fit disparaître ceux qui évoquaient les esprits et ceux qui prédisaient l’avenir, et les théraphim, et les idoles, et toutes les abominations qui se voyaient dans le pays de Juda et à Jérusalem, afin de mettre en pratique les paroles de la loi, écrites dans le livre que le sacrificateur Hilkija avait trouvé dans la maison de l’Éternel.
25 Avant Josias, il n’y eut point de roi qui, comme lui, revînt à l’Éternel de tout son coeur, de toute son âme et de toute sa force, selon toute la loi de Moïse; et après lui, il n’en a point paru de semblable.
26 Toutefois l’Éternel ne se désista point de l’ardeur de sa grande colère dont il était enflammé contre Juda, à cause de tout ce qu’avait fait Manassé pour l’irriter.
27 Et l’Éternel dit: J’ôterai aussi Juda de devant ma face comme j’ai ôté Israël, et je rejetterai cette ville de Jérusalem que j’avais choisie, et la maison de laquelle j’avais dit: Là sera mon nom.
28 Le reste des actions de Josias, et tout ce qu’il a fait, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?
29 De son temps, Pharaon Néco, roi d’Égypte, monta contre le roi d’Assyrie, vers le fleuve de l’Euphrate. Le roi Josias marcha à sa rencontre; et Pharaon le tua à Meguiddo, dès qu’il le vit.
30 Ses serviteurs l’emportèrent mort sur un char; ils l’amenèrent de Meguiddo à Jérusalem, et ils l’enterrèrent dans son sépulcre. Et le peuple du pays prit Joachaz, fils de Josias; ils l’oignirent, et le firent roi à la place de son père.
31 Joachaz avait vingt-trois ans lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna trois mois à Jérusalem. Sa mère s’appelait Hamuthal, fille de Jérémie, de Libna.
32 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l’Éternel, entièrement comme avaient fait ses pères.
33 Pharaon Néco l’enchaîna à Ribla, dans le pays de Hamath, pour qu’il ne régnât plus à Jérusalem; et il mit sur le pays une contribution de cent talents d’argent et d’un talent d’or.
34 Et Pharaon Néco établit roi Éliakim, fils de Josias, à la place de Josias, son père, et il changea son nom en celui de Jojakim. Il prit Joachaz, qui alla en Égypte et y mourut.
35 Jojakim donna à Pharaon l’argent et l’or; mais il taxa le pays pour fournir cet argent, d’après l’ordre de Pharaon; il détermina la part de chacun et exigea du peuple du pays l’argent et l’or qu’il devait livrer à Pharaon Néco.
36 Jojakim avait vingt-cinq ans lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna onze ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s’appelait Zebudda, fille de Pedaja, de Ruma.
37 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l’Éternel, entièrement comme avaient fait ses pères.

1 And the king sent, and they gathered unto him all the elders of Judah and of Jerusalem.
2 And the king went up into the house of the Lord, and all the men of Judah and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem with him, and the priests, and the prophets, and all the people, both small and great: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant which was found in the house of the Lord.
3 And the king stood by a pillar, and made a covenant before the Lord, to walk after the Lord, and to keep his commandments and his testimonies and his statutes with all their heart and all their soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people stood to the covenant.
4 And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the Lord all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel.
5 And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.
6 And he brought out the grove from the house of the Lord, without Jerusalem, unto the brook Kidron, and burned it at the brook Kidron, and stamped it small to powder, and cast the powder thereof upon the graves of the children of the people.
7 And he brake down the houses of the sodomites, that were by the house of the Lord, where the women wove hangings for the grove.
8 And he brought all the priests out of the cities of Judah, and defiled the high places where the priests had burned incense, from Geba to Beersheba, and brake down the high places of the gates that were in the entering in of the gate of Joshua the governor of the city, which were on a man’s left hand at the gate of the city.
9 Nevertheless the priests of the high places came not up to the altar of the Lord in Jerusalem, but they did eat of the unleavened bread among their brethren.
10 And he defiled Topheth, which is in the valley of the children of Hinnom, that no man might make his son or his daughter to pass through the fire to Molech.
11 And he took away the horses that the kings of Judah had given to the sun, at the entering in of the house of the Lord, by the chamber of Nathanmelech the chamberlain, which was in the suburbs, and burned the chariots of the sun with fire.
12 And the altars that were on the top of the upper chamber of Ahaz, which the kings of Judah had made, and the altars which Manasseh had made in the two courts of the house of the Lord, did the king beat down, and brake them down from thence, and cast the dust of them into the brook Kidron.
13 And the high places that were before Jerusalem, which were on the right hand of the mount of corruption, which Solomon the king of Israel had builded for Ashtoreth the abomination of the Zidonians, and for Chemosh the abomination of the Moabites, and for Milcom the abomination of the children of Ammon, did the king defile.
14 And he brake in pieces the images, and cut down the groves, and filled their places with the bones of men.
15 Moreover the altar that was at Bethel, and the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he brake down, and burned the high place, and stamped it small to powder, and burned the grove.
16 And as Josiah turned himself, he spied the sepulchres that were there in the mount, and sent, and took the bones out of the sepulchres, and burned them upon the altar, and polluted it, according to the word of the Lord which the man of God proclaimed, who proclaimed these words.
17 Then he said, What title is that that I see? And the men of the city told him, It is the sepulchre of the man of God, which came from Judah, and proclaimed these things that thou hast done against the altar of Bethel.
18 And he said, Let him alone; let no man move his bones. So they let his bones alone, with the bones of the prophet that came out of Samaria.
19 And all the houses also of the high places that were in the cities of Samaria, which the kings of Israel had made to provoke the Lord to anger, Josiah took away, and did to them according to all the acts that he had done in Bethel.
20 And he slew all the priests of the high places that were there upon the altars, and burned men’s bones upon them, and returned to Jerusalem.
21 And the king commanded all the people, saying, Keep the passover unto the Lord your God, as it is written in the book of this covenant.
22 Surely there was not holden such a passover from the days of the judges that judged Israel, nor in all the days of the kings of Israel, nor of the kings of Judah;
23 But in the eighteenth year of king Josiah, wherein this passover was holden to the Lord in Jerusalem.
24 Moreover the workers with familiar spirits, and the wizards, and the images, and the idols, and all the abominations that were spied in the land of Judah and in Jerusalem, did Josiah put away, that he might perform the words of the law which were written in the book that Hilkiah the priest found in the house of the Lord.
25 And like unto him was there no king before him, that turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses; neither after him arose there any like him.
26 Notwithstanding the Lord turned not from the fierceness of his great wrath, wherewith his anger was kindled against Judah, because of all the provocations that Manasseh had provoked him withal.
27 And the Lord said, I will remove Judah also out of my sight, as I have removed Israel, and will cast off this city Jerusalem which I have chosen, and the house of which I said, My name shall be there.
28 Now the rest of the acts of Josiah, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
29 In his days Pharaohnechoh king of Egypt went up against the king of Assyria to the river Euphrates: and king Josiah went against him; and he slew him at Megiddo, when he had seen him.
30 And his servants carried him in a chariot dead from Megiddo, and brought him to Jerusalem, and buried him in his own sepulchre. And the people of the land took Jehoahaz the son of Josiah, and anointed him, and made him king in his father’s stead.
31 Jehoahaz was twenty and three years old when he began to reign; and he reigned three months in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Hamutal, the daughter of Jeremiah of Libnah.
32 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his fathers had done.
33 And Pharaohnechoh put him in bands at Riblah in the land of Hamath, that he might not reign in Jerusalem; and put the land to a tribute of an hundred talents of silver, and a talent of gold.
34 And Pharaohnechoh made Eliakim the son of Josiah king in the room of Josiah his father, and turned his name to Jehoiakim, and took Jehoahaz away: and he came to Egypt, and died there.
35 And Jehoiakim gave the silver and the gold to Pharaoh; but he taxed the land to give the money according to the commandment of Pharaoh: he exacted the silver and the gold of the people of the land, of every one according to his taxation, to give it unto Pharaohnechoh.
36 Jehoiakim was twenty and five years old when he began to reign; and he reigned eleven years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Zebudah, the daughter of Pedaiah of Rumah.
