Deteronòm 9
1 Koute byen, nou menm pèp Izrayèl! Lè a rive, jòdi a nou pral janbe lòt bò larivyè Jouden an pou n’ al anvayi peyi ki pou nasyon ki gen plis moun pase nou, nasyon ki pi fò pase nou. Nou pral pran yon bann gwo lavil ki gen ranpa wotè syèl la pou pwoteje yo.
2 Moun peyi a se yon bann moun ki gwonèg, ki bèl wotè tankou moun Anak yo. Nou konn tande yo di pa gen moun ki ka kenbe tèt ak moun sa yo.
3 Enben, koulye a, nou pral konnen se Seyè a, Bondye nou an, ki pral pran devan nou. Tankou yon gwo dife k’ap boule tou sa li kontre, li pral disparèt yo chak fwa n’a jwenn yo sou wout nou. Li pral fè yo bese tèt devan nou. Se konsa n’a pran peyi a nan men yo, n’a disparèt yo la pou la jan Seyè a te di l’ la.
4 Lè Seyè a, Bondye nou an, va fin chase moun sa yo devan nou, piga nou di nan kè nou se paske nou merite kifè Seyè a te fè n’ antre pran peyi a pou nou. Non. Se paske moun sa yo mechan kifè Seyè a te mete yo deyò ban nou plas yo.
5 Non! Se pa paske nou te merite, ni paske nou te mennen bak nou dwat kifè Seyè a pral fè nou pran peyi a pou nou. Se paske moun sa yo mechan kifè Seyè a, Bondye nou an, pral disparèt yo sou tout wout nou. Epitou, se pou l’ te ka kenbe pawòl li te sèmante bay zansèt nou yo, Abraram, Izarak ak Jakòb.
6 Se pou nou konnen se pa paske nou merite anyen kifè Seyè a, Bondye nou an, ap ban nou bon peyi sa a pou rele nou pa nou. Non! Paske se yon pèp ki gen tèt di anpil nou ye.
7 Pa janm bliye jan ou te fè Seyè a, Bondye nou an, fache anpil nan dezè a. Depi lè nou te soti nan peyi Lejip jouk nou rive isit la, n’ap fè wòklò devan Seyè a.
8 Lè nou te sou mòn Orèb la, nou te eksite kòlè Seyè a. Li te sitèlman fache lè sa a, li te fè lide detwi nou tout.
9 Mwen te moute sou mòn lan pou m’ te al resevwa de wòch plat yo, wòch ki te gen kontra Seyè a te fè ak nou an ekri sou yo. Mwen rete la, mwen pase karant jou, karant nwit, san manje, san bwè anyen sou mòn lan.
10 Se lè sa a Seyè a te ban mwen de wòch plat yo. Se sou yo li te ekri avèk pwòp men l’ tou sa li di nou, antan li te nan mitan gwo dife a, jou nou tout te reyini nan pye mòn lan.
11 Wi, apre karant jou ak karant nwit, Seyè a ban mwen de wòch plat yo avèk kontra a ekri sou yo.
12 Epi li di m’ konsa: Leve non, desann mòn lan byen vit, paske pèp ou a, pèp ou te mennen soti kite peyi Lejip la, lage kò l’ nan fè sa ki mal. Yo pa tann lontan pou yo kite chemen mwen te mete devan yo pou yo swiv la. Yo gen tan fonn metal, yo fè yon zidòl pou tèt pa yo.
13 Apre sa, Seyè a di m’ ankò: mwen gade pèp la, mwen wè se yon pèp ki gen tèt di anpil.
14 Kite m’ fè sa m’ap fè a non! Mwen pral disparèt yo nèt pou pesonn sou latè pa janm chonje te gen moun sa yo. Men ou menm, m’ap ba ou pitit ki va vin zansèt yon nasyon k’ap pi gran, k’ap pi fò pase yo.
15 Mwen desann soti nan mòn lan ki te plen flanm dife: mwen te gen de wòch kontra yo nan men m’.
16 Lè mwen wè nou te gen tan dezobeyi Seyè a, Bondye nou an, nou te gen tan kite chemen Seyè a te mete devan nou, nou te fonn metal, nou te fè estati yon ti towo,
17 mwen pran de wòch plat ki te nan men m’ yo, mwen voye yo jete, mwen kraze yo devan nou tout.
18 Apre sa, mwen lage kò m’ fas atè devan Seyè a. Tankou premye fwa a, mwen pase karant jou ak karant nwit, san manje, san bwè anyen. Tou sa, paske nou te fè sa ki mal devan Seyè a, nou pa t’ fè l’ plezi, nou te fè l’ fache anpil.
19 Mwen menm, mwen te pè anpil lè m’ wè jan Seyè a te fache, paske li te fache kont pou l’ te disparèt nou nèt. Men, fwa sa a ankò, Seyè a koute m’.
20 Lè sa a, li te fache anpil tou sou Arawon jouk li te vle touye l’. Men, mwen te lapriyè nan pye l’ pou Arawon.
21 Mwen te pran estati ti towo bèf nou te fè ak move lide nan tèt nou an, mwen jete l’ nan dife. Mwen mete l’ nan yon pilon, mwen kraze l’ an myèt moso, mwen fè l’ tounen pousyè. Lèfini, mwen te jete pousyè a nan dlo larivyè ki desann soti nan mòn lan.
22 Nou te eksite kòlè Seyè a tou lè nou te Tabera, lè nou te Masa ak lè nou te Simityè Grangou.
23 Le Seyè a te ban nou lòd pati kite Kadès-Banea pou n’ al pran pou nou peyi li te di l’ap ban nou an, nou t’ap fè wòklò ak Seyè a, Bondye nou an. Nou pa t’ kwè nan li, nou te derefize tande l’.
24 Depi mwen konnen nou, se wòklò n’ap plede fè ak Bondye!
25 Se konsa mwen lage kò m’ fas atè devan Seyè a, pandan karant jou ak karant nwit, paske Seyè a te di l’ap disparèt nou.
26 mwen te lapriyè Seyè a pou nou, mwen di l’ konsa: O Seyè, Bondye mwen, tanpri! Pa detwi pèp ou a, pèp ki rele ou pa ou la, pèp ou te delivre ak pouvwa ou la, pèp ou te fè soti kite peyi Lejip ak fòs ponyèt ou a.
27 Chonje sèvitè ou yo, Abraram, Izarak ak Jakòb! Pa gade sou tèt di pèp la, ni sou mechanste ak sou peche l’ap fè.
28 Mwen pa ta vle pou nan peyi kote ou fè nou soti a moun yo ta di: Wi, Seyè a pa t’ ka mennen yo nan peyi li te pwomèt l’ap ba yo a. Se rayi li rayi yo kifè li fè yo soti kite peyi Lejip la pou l’ touye yo nan dezè a.
29 Men, se pèp ou yo ye! Yo rele ou pa ou! Se avèk gwo pouvwa ou, avèk fòs ponyèt ou ou te fè yo soti kite peyi Lejip.

Deuteronome 9
1 Écoute, Israël! Tu vas aujourd’hui passer le Jourdain, pour te rendre maître de nations plus grandes et plus puissantes que toi, de villes grandes et fortifiées jusqu’au ciel,
2 d’un peuple grand et de haute taille, les enfants d’Anak, que tu connais, et dont tu as entendu dire: Qui pourra tenir contre les enfants d’Anak?
3 Sache aujourd’hui que l’Éternel, ton Dieu, marchera lui-même devant toi comme un feu dévorant, c’est lui qui les détruira, qui les humiliera devant toi; et tu les chasseras, tu les feras périr promptement, comme l’Éternel te l’a dit.
4 Lorsque l’Éternel, ton Dieu, les chassera devant toi, ne dis pas en ton coeur: C’est à cause de ma justice que l’Éternel me fait entrer en possession de ce pays. Car c’est à cause de la méchanceté de ces nations que l’Éternel les chasse devant toi.
5 Non, ce n’est point à cause de ta justice et de la droiture de ton coeur que tu entres en possession de leur pays; mais c’est à cause de la méchanceté de ces nations que l’Éternel, ton Dieu, les chasse devant toi, et c’est pour confirmer la parole que l’Éternel a jurée à tes pères, à Abraham, à Isaac et à Jacob.
6 Sache donc que ce n’est point à cause de ta justice que l’Éternel, ton Dieu, te donne ce bon pays pour que tu le possèdes; car tu es un peuple au cou roide.
7 Souviens-toi, n’oublie pas de quelle manière tu as excité la colère de l’Éternel, ton Dieu, dans le désert. Depuis le jour où tu es sorti du pays d’Égypte jusqu’à votre arrivée dans ce lieu, vous avez été rebelles contre l’Éternel.
8 A Horeb, vous excitâtes la colère de l’Éternel; et l’Éternel s’irrita contre vous, et eut la pensée de vous détruire.
9 Lorsque je fus monté sur la montagne, pour prendre les tables de pierre, les tables de l’alliance que l’Éternel a traitée avec vous, je demeurai sur la montagne quarante jours et quarante nuits, sans manger de pain et sans boire d’eau;
10 et l’Éternel me donna les deux tables de pierre écrites du doigt de Dieu, et contenant toutes les paroles que l’Éternel vous avait dites sur la montagne, du milieu du feu, le jour de l’assemblée.
11 Ce fut au bout des quarante jours et des quarante nuits que l’Éternel me donna les deux tables de pierre, les tables de l’alliance.
12 L’Éternel me dit alors: Lève-toi, descends en hâte d’ici; car ton peuple, que tu as fait sortir d’Égypte, s’est corrompu. Ils se sont promptement écartés de la voie que je leur avais prescrite; ils se sont fait une image de fonte.
13 L’Éternel me dit: Je vois que ce peuple est un peuple au cou roide.
14 Laisse-moi les détruire et effacer leur nom de dessous les cieux; et je ferai de toi une nation plus puissante et plus nombreuse que ce peuple.
15 Je retournai et je descendis de la montagne tout en feu, les deux tables de l’alliance dans mes deux mains.
16 Je regardai, et voici, vous aviez péché contre l’Éternel, votre Dieu, vous vous étiez fait un veau de fonte, vous vous étiez promptement écartés de la voie que vous avait prescrite l’Éternel.
17 Je saisis les deux tables, je les jetai de mes mains, et je les brisai sous vos yeux.
18 Je me prosternai devant l’Éternel, comme auparavant, quarante jours et quarante nuits, sans manger de pain et sans boire d’eau, à cause de tous les péchés que vous aviez commis en faisant ce qui est mal aux yeux de l’Éternel, pour l’irriter.
19 Car j’étais effrayé à la vue de la colère et de la fureur dont l’Éternel était animé contre vous jusqu’à vouloir vous détruire. Mais l’Éternel m’exauça encore cette fois.
20 L’Éternel était aussi très irrité contre Aaron, qu’il voulait faire périr, et pour qui j’intercédai encore dans ce temps-là.
21 Je pris le veau que vous aviez fait, ce produit de votre péché, je le brûlai au feu, je le broyai jusqu’à ce qu’il fût réduit en poudre, et je jetai cette poudre dans le torrent qui descend de la montagne.
22 A Tabeéra, à Massa, et à Kibroth Hattaava, vous excitâtes la colère de l’Éternel.
23 Et lorsque l’Éternel vous envoya à Kadès Barnéa, en disant: Montez, et prenez possession du pays que je vous donne! vous fûtes rebelles à l’ordre de l’Éternel, votre Dieu, vous n’eûtes point foi en lui, et vous n’obéîtes point à sa voix.
24 Vous avez été rebelles contre l’Éternel depuis que je vous connais.
25 Je me prosternai devant l’Éternel, je me prosternai quarante jours et quarante nuits, parce que l’Éternel avait dit qu’il voulait vous détruire.
26 Je priai l’Éternel, et je dis: Seigneur Éternel, ne détruis pas ton peuple, ton héritage, que tu as racheté dans ta grandeur, que tu as fait sortir d’Égypte par ta main puissante.
27 Souviens-toi de tes serviteurs, Abraham, Isaac et Jacob. Ne regarde point à l’opiniâtreté de ce peuple, à sa méchanceté et à son péché,
28 de peur que le pays d’où tu nous as fait sortir ne dise: C’est parce que l’Éternel n’avait pas le pouvoir de les mener dans le pays qu’il leur avait promis, et c’est parce qu’il les haïssait, qu’il les a fait sortir pour les faire mourir dans le désert.
29 Ils sont pourtant ton peuple et ton héritage, que tu as fait sortir d’Égypte par ta grande puissance et par ton bras étendu.

Deuteronomy 9
1 Hear, O Israel: Thou art to pass over Jordan this day, to go in to possess nations greater and mightier than thyself, cities great and fenced up to heaven,
2 A people great and tall, the children of the Anakims, whom thou knowest, and of whom thou hast heard say, Who can stand before the children of Anak!
3 Understand therefore this day, that the Lord thy God is he which goeth over before thee; as a consuming fire he shall destroy them, and he shall bring them down before thy face: so shalt thou drive them out, and destroy them quickly, as the Lord hath said unto thee.
4 Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the Lord thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the Lord hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the Lord doth drive them out from before thee.
5 Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the Lord thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the Lord sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
6 Understand therefore, that the Lord thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.
7 Remember, and forget not, how thou provokedst the Lord thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the Lord.
8 Also in Horeb ye provoked the Lord to wrath, so that the Lord was angry with you to have destroyed you.
9 When I was gone up into the mount to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the Lord made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither did eat bread nor drink water:
10 And the Lord delivered unto me two tables of stone written with the finger of God; and on them was written according to all the words, which the Lord spake with you in the mount out of the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.
11 And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the Lord gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.
12 And the Lord said unto me, Arise, get thee down quickly from hence; for thy people which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt have corrupted themselves; they are quickly turned aside out of the way which I commanded them; they have made them a molten image.
13 Furthermore the Lord spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:
14 Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.
15 So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands.
16 And I looked, and, behold, ye had sinned against the Lord your God, and had made you a molten calf: ye had turned aside quickly out of the way which the Lord had commanded you.
17 And I took the two tables, and cast them out of my two hands, and brake them before your eyes.
18 And I fell down before the Lord, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I did neither eat bread, nor drink water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the Lord, to provoke him to anger.
19 For I was afraid of the anger and hot displeasure, wherewith the Lord was wroth against you to destroy you. But the Lord hearkened unto me at that time also.
20 And the Lord was very angry with Aaron to have destroyed him: and I prayed for Aaron also the same time.
21 And I took your sin, the calf which ye had made, and burnt it with fire, and stamped it, and ground it very small, even until it was as small as dust: and I cast the dust thereof into the brook that descended out of the mount.
22 And at Taberah, and at Massah, and at Kibrothhattaavah, ye provoked the Lord to wrath.
23 Likewise when the Lord sent you from Kadeshbarnea, saying, Go up and possess the land which I have given you; then ye rebelled against the commandment of the Lord your God, and ye believed him not, nor hearkened to his voice.
24 Ye have been rebellious against the Lord from the day that I knew you.
25 Thus I fell down before the Lord forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the Lord had said he would destroy you.
26 I prayed therefore unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.
27 Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:
28 Lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the Lord was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.
29 Yet they are thy people and thine inheritance, which thou broughtest out by thy mighty power and by thy stretched out arm.
