1 Lespri Bondye te desann sou Azarya, pitit Obèd.
2 Azarya soti al kontre wa Asa, li di l’ konsa: -Koute sa m’ap di nou, ou menm Asa ansanm ak tout moun fanmi Jida ak fanmi Benjamen yo! Seyè a ap kanpe ak nou si nou menm tou nou kanpe avè l’. Si nou chache l’, l’ap kite nou jwenn li. Men, si nou vire do ba li, l’ap vire do ban nou tou.
3 Pandan lontan, pèp Izrayèl la t’ap viv san Bondye tout bon an, san prèt pou moutre yo sa pou yo fè, san lalwa Bondye a.
4 Men, lè malè tonbe sou yo, yo tounen nan pye Seyè a, Bondye pèp Izrayèl la. Yo chache l’, li kite yo jwenn li.
5 Nan tan sa yo, pesonn pa t’ ka okipe zafè yo ak kè poze, paske te gen gwo dezòd pou tout moun nan tout peyi.
6 Nasyon t’ap kraze nasyon, yon lavil t’ap detwi yon lòt lavil, paske Bondye te lage tout kalite malè sou yo.
7 Men nou menm, mete gason sou nou! Pa dekouraje, paske n’ap jwenn rekonpans travay nou.
8 Lè Asa tande mesaj pitit Obèd la te bay nan non Bondye, li pran kouraj. Li fè yo wete dènye vye zidòl ki te nan peyi moun Jida yo ak nan peyi moun Benjamen yo, ansanm ak tout zidòl ki te nan lavil li te pran nan zòn mòn Efrayim yo. Li repare lotèl Seyè a ki te kanpe nan lakou devan gwo pyès Tanp Seyè a.
9 Anpil moun soti toupatou nan peyi Efrayim, nan peyi Manase ak nan peyi Simeyon, yo vin jwenn Asa. Yo t’ap viv nan peyi a sou zòd li, paske yo te wè Seyè a te kanpe la avè l’. Asa reyini yo tout ansanm ak tout moun Jida yo ak moun Benjamen yo.
10 Yo tout reyini lavil Jerizalèm. Lè sa a, Asa te gen katòzan twa mwa depi li te wa.
11 Jou sa a, yo pran sètsan (700) bèf ak sètmil (7.000) mouton nan tou sa yo te pran nan men lènmi yo, yo touye yo pou Seyè a.
12 Yo pran angajman pou yo sèvi Seyè a, Bondye zansèt yo a, ak tout kè yo, ak tout nanm yo.
13 Yo pwomèt pou yo touye nenpòt moun, kit se fanm kit se gason, kit se granmoun kit se jennmoun, ki pa soti pou sèvi Seyè a.
14 Yo fè sèman bay Seyè a byen fò y’ap kenbe angajman yo. Yo te kontan, yo t’ap rele, yo t’ap kònen twonpèt ak klewon.
15 Tout moun peyi Jida yo te kontan, paske yo te fè sèman an ak tout kè yo. San pesonn pa fòse yo, yo te soti pou yo te chache konnen volonte Seyè a. Seyè a menm te kite yo jwenn li. Li fè yo viv ak kè poze ak tout moun nan vwazinaj yo.
16 Wa Asa menm rive wete Maka, grann li, nan pozisyon yo te ba li tankou manman Larenn nan peyi a, paske Maka te fè yon vye estati pou Achera. Asa kraze estati a an miyèt moso, li fè boule l’ nan ravin Sedwon an.
17 Atout li pa t’ rive fè disparèt tout kay zidòl yo, li menm li te toujou sèvi Seyè a ak tout kè li pandan lavi li.
18 Li pran tou sa papa l’ te bay pou sèvis Bondye a, li mete yo nan Tanp lan ak tout bagay an lò ak an ajan li menm li te bay pou Bondye.
19 Pat gen lagè menm jouk wa Asa rive sou trannsenkan depi li t’ap gouvènen.

1 L’esprit de Dieu fut sur Azaria, fils d’Obed,
2 et Azaria alla au-devant d’Asa et lui dit: Écoutez-moi, Asa, et tout Juda et Benjamin! L’Éternel est avec vous quand vous êtes avec lui; si vous le cherchez, vous le trouverez; mais si vous l’abandonnez, il vous abandonnera.
3 Pendant longtemps il n’y a eu pour Israël ni vrai Dieu, ni sacrificateur qui enseignât, ni loi.
4 Mais au sein de leur détresse ils sont retournés à l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, ils l’ont cherché, et ils l’ont trouvé.
5 Dans ces temps-là, point de sécurité pour ceux qui allaient et venaient, car il y avait de grands troubles parmi tous les habitants du pays;
6 on se heurtait peuple contre peuple, ville contre ville, parce que Dieu les agitait par toutes sortes d’angoisses.
7 Vous donc, fortifiez-vous, et ne laissez pas vos mains s’affaiblir, car il y aura un salaire pour vos oeuvres.
8 Après avoir entendu ces paroles et la prophétie d’Obed le prophète, Asa se fortifia et fit disparaître les abominations de tout le pays de Juda et de Benjamin et des villes qu’il avait prises dans la montagne d’Éphraïm, et il restaura l’autel de l’Éternel qui était devant le portique de l’Éternel.
9 Il rassembla tout Juda et Benjamin, et ceux d’Éphraïm, de Manassé et de Siméon qui habitaient parmi eux, car un grand nombre de gens d’Israël se joignirent à lui lorsqu’ils virent que l’Éternel, son Dieu, était avec lui.
10 Ils s’assemblèrent à Jérusalem le troisième mois de la quinzième année du règne d’Asa.
11 Ce jour-là, ils sacrifièrent à l’Éternel, sur le butin qu’ils avaient amené, sept cents boeufs et sept mille brebis.
12 Ils prirent l’engagement de chercher l’Éternel, le Dieu de leurs pères, de tout leur coeur et de toute leur âme;
13 et quiconque ne chercherait pas l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, devait être mis à mort, petit ou grand, homme ou femme.
14 Ils jurèrent fidélité à l’Éternel à voix haute, avec des cris de joie, et au son des trompettes et des cors;
15 tout Juda se réjouit de ce serment, car ils avaient juré de tout leur coeur, ils avaient cherché l’Éternel de plein gré, et ils l’avaient trouvé, et l’Éternel leur donna du repos de tous côtés.
16 Le roi Asa enleva même à Maaca, sa mère, la dignité de reine, parce qu’elle avait fait une idole pour Astarté. Asa abattit son idole, qu’il réduisit en poussière, et la brûla au torrent de Cédron.
17 Mais les hauts lieux ne disparurent point d’Israël, quoique le coeur d’Asa fût en entier à l’Éternel pendant toute sa vie.
18 Il mit dans la maison de Dieu les choses consacrées par son père et par lui-même, de l’argent, de l’or et des vases.
19 Il n’y eut point de guerre jusqu’à la trente-cinquième année du règne d’Asa.

1 And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:
2 And he went out to meet Asa, and said unto him, Hear ye me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin; The Lord is with you, while ye be with him; and if ye seek him, he will be found of you; but if ye forsake him, he will forsake you.
3 Now for a long season Israel hath been without the true God, and without a teaching priest, and without law.
4 But when they in their trouble did turn unto the Lord God of Israel, and sought him, he was found of them.
5 And in those times there was no peace to him that went out, nor to him that came in, but great vexations were upon all the inhabitants of the countries.
6 And nation was destroyed of nation, and city of city: for God did vex them with all adversity.
7 Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.
8 And when Asa heard these words, and the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage, and put away the abominable idols out of all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and out of the cities which he had taken from mount Ephraim, and renewed the altar of the Lord, that was before the porch of the Lord.
9 And he gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and the strangers with them out of Ephraim and Manasseh, and out of Simeon: for they fell to him out of Israel in abundance, when they saw that the Lord his God was with him.
10 So they gathered themselves together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of the reign of Asa.
11 And they offered unto the Lord the same time, of the spoil which they had brought, seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep.
12 And they entered into a covenant to seek the Lord God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;
13 That whosoever would not seek the Lord God of Israel should be put to death, whether small or great, whether man or woman.
14 And they sware unto the Lord with a loud voice, and with shouting, and with trumpets, and with cornets.
15 And all Judah rejoiced at the oath: for they had sworn with all their heart, and sought him with their whole desire; and he was found of them: and the Lord gave them rest round about.
16 And also concerning Maachah the mother of Asa the king, he removed her from being queen, because she had made an idol in a grove: and Asa cut down her idol, and stamped it, and burnt it at the brook Kidron.
17 But the high places were not taken away out of Israel: nevertheless the heart of Asa was perfect all his days.
18 And he brought into the house of God the things that his father had dedicated, and that he himself had dedicated, silver, and gold, and vessels.
19 And there was no more war unto the five and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa.
