8 Moun Amon yo te peye lajan taks bay Ozyas. Yo t’ap nonmen non l’ jouk sou fwontyè peyi Lejip, paske li te vin gen anpil pouvwa.
9 Ozyas ranfòse defans lavil Jerizalèm. Li bati gwo fò tou won bò Pòtay Kwen an, bò Pòtay Fon an ak nan yon kwen miray la.
10 Li bati gwo fò tou won nan dezè a, li fouye gwo basen pou kenbe dlo paske li te gen anpil mouton ni nan plenn lan ni sou platon yo. Li te gen moun ap travay pou li nan jaden li yo, ak moun pou okipe jaden rezen l’ yo nan mòn, paske li te renmen travay latè.
11 Ozyas te gen yon gwo lame toujou pare pou fè lagè. Lame a te separe an gwoup, dapre jan yo te enskri nan rejis Jeiyèl, sekretè wa a, ak Masyas, grefye a, te kenbe sou kontwòl Ananya, yonn nan gwo chèf wa a.
12 Te gen demil sisan (2.600) chèf fanmi alatèt vanyan sòlda sa yo.
13 Sou zòd yo te gen yon lame ak twasansètmil senksan (307.500) sòlda toujou pare pou lagè. Yo te grannèg anpil, yo te toujou pare pou al goumen ak lènmi wa yo.
14 Ozyas bay tout moun nan lame a plak pwotèj, frenn, kas pou tèt yo, rad an plak fè, banza ak flèch, ak wòch pou gwo fistibal.
15 Nan lavil Jerizalèm, li te gen yon enjenyè ki t’ap fè tout kalite machin pou voye flèch ak gwo wòch. Li fè mete machin sa yo nan fò won yo ak nan kwen miray ranpa yo. Yo t’ap nonmen non Ozyas byen lwen, paske Bondye te sitèlman ede l’ li te vin gen anpil pouvwa.
16 Men, lè li fin chita pouvwa l’ byen chita, lògèy vire tèt li, sa lakòz pye l’ chape. Li fè bagay Seyè a, Bondye li a, pa t’ ba li dwa fè. Yon jou li antre nan Tanp Seyè a pou boule lansan sou lotèl lansan an.
17 Azarya, prèt la, antre dèyè l’ ak katreven lòt prèt Seyè a, tout vanyan gason.

20 Lè granprèt la, Azarya, ak lòt prèt yo gade l’, yo wè maladi a parèt sou fwon li. Yo mete l’ deyò. Li menm, li prese soti paske se Seyè a menm ki te pini l’.
21 Wa Ozyas rete ak maladi po a sou li jouk li mouri. Li te rete nan yon ti kay apa pou kont li, jan yo fè l’ pou moun ki gen maladi sa a. Yo enpoze l’ mete pye l’ nan kay Seyè a. Se Jotam, pitit gason l’ lan, ki te reskonsab tout bagay nan palè a. Se li menm tou ki te gouvènen pèp la nan peyi a.
22 Pwofèt Izayi, pitit Amòz la, te ekri tout rès istwa Ozyas la, depi premye jou li te moute wa a rive jouk dènye jou a.
23 Lè Ozyas mouri, yo antere l’ apa nan simityè wa yo. Poutèt vye maladi po li a, yo pa t’ mete l’ nan tonm wa yo. Se Jotam, pitit li a, ki moute wa nan plas li.

1 Tout le peuple de Juda prit Ozias, âgé de seize ans, et l’établit roi à la place de son père Amatsia.
2 Ozias rebâtit Éloth et la fit rentrer sous la puissance de Juda, après que le roi fut couché avec ses pères.
3 Ozias avait seize ans lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna cinquante-deux ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s’appelait Jecolia, de Jérusalem.
4 Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l’Éternel, entièrement comme avait fait Amatsia, son père.
5 Il s’appliqua à rechercher Dieu pendant la vie de Zacharie, qui avait l’intelligence des visions de Dieu; et dans le temps où il rechercha l’Éternel, Dieu le fit prospérer.
6 Il se mit en guerre contre les Philistins; et il abattit les murs de Gath, les murs de Jabné, et les murs d’Asdod, et construisit des villes dans le territoire d’Asdod, et parmi les Philistins.
7 Dieu l’aida contre les Philistins, contre les Arabes qui habitaient à Gur Baal, et contre les Maonites.
8 Les Ammonites faisaient des présents à Ozias, et sa renommée s’étendit jusqu’aux frontières de l’Égypte, car il devint très puissant.
9 Ozias bâtit des tours à Jérusalem sur la porte de l’angle, sur la porte de la vallée, et sur l’angle, et il les fortifia.
10 Il bâtit des tours dans le désert, et il creusa beaucoup de citernes, parce qu’il avait de nombreux troupeaux dans les vallées et dans la plaine, et des laboureurs et des vignerons dans les montagnes et au Carmel, car il aimait l’agriculture.
11 Ozias avait une armée de soldats qui allaient à la guerre par bandes, comptées d’après le dénombrement qu’en firent le secrétaire Jeïel et le commissaire Maaséja, et placées sous les ordres de Hanania, l’un des chefs du roi.
12 Le nombre total des chefs de maisons paternelles, des vaillants guerriers, était de deux mille six cents.
13 Ils commandaient à une armée de trois cent sept mille cinq cents soldats capables de soutenir le roi contre l’ennemi.
14 Ozias leur procura pour toute l’armée des bouclier, des lances, des casques, des cuirasses, des arcs et des frondes.
15 Il fit faire à Jérusalem des machines inventées par un ingénieur, et destinées à être placées sur les tours et sur les angles, pour lancer des flèches et de grosses pierres. Sa renommée s’étendit au loin, car il fut merveilleusement soutenu jusqu’à ce qu’il devînt puissant.
16 Mais lorsqu’il fut puissant, son coeur s’éleva pour le perdre. Il pécha contre l’Éternel, son Dieu: il entra dans le temple de l’Éternel pour brûler des parfums sur l’autel des parfums.
17 Le sacrificateur Azaria entra après lui, avec quatre-vingts sacrificateurs de l’Éternel,
18 hommes courageux, qui s’opposèrent au roi Ozias et lui dirent: Tu n’as pas le droit, Ozias, d’offrir des parfums à l’Éternel! Ce droit appartient aux sacrificateurs, fils d’Aaron, qui ont été consacrés pour les offrir. Sors du sanctuaire, car tu commets un péché! Et cela ne tournera pas à ton honneur devant l’Éternel Dieu.
19 La colère s’empara d’Ozias, qui tenait un encensoir à la main. Et comme il s’irritait contre les sacrificateurs, la lèpre éclata sur son front, en présence des sacrificateurs, dans la maison de l’Éternel, près de l’autel des parfums.
20 Le souverain sacrificateur Azaria et tous les sacrificateurs portèrent les regards sur lui, et voici, il avait la lèpre au front. Ils le mirent précipitamment dehors, et lui-même se hâta de sortir, parce que l’Éternel l’avait frappé.
21 Le roi Ozias fut lépreux jusqu’au jour de sa mort, et il demeura dans une maison écartée comme lépreux, car il fut exclu de la maison de l’Éternel. Et Jotham, son fils, était à la tête de la maison du roi et jugeait le peuple du pays.
22 Le reste des actions d’Ozias, les premières et les dernières, a été écrit par Ésaïe, fils d’Amots, le prophète.
23 Ozias se coucha avec ses pères, et on l’enterra avec ses pères dans le champ de la sépulture des rois, car on disait: Il est lépreux. Et Jotham, son fils, régna à sa place.

1 Then all the people of Judah took Uzziah, who was sixteen years old, and made him king in the room of his father Amaziah.
2 He built Eloth, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
3 Sixteen years old was Uzziah when he began to reign, and he reigned fifty and two years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Jecoliah of Jerusalem.
4 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, according to all that his father Amaziah did.
5 And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him to prosper.
6 And he went forth and warred against the Philistines, and brake down the wall of Gath, and the wall of Jabneh, and the wall of Ashdod, and built cities about Ashdod, and among the Philistines.
7 And God helped him against the Philistines, and against the Arabians that dwelt in Gurbaal, and the Mehunims.
8 And the Ammonites gave gifts to Uzziah: and his name spread abroad even to the entering in of Egypt; for he strengthened himself exceedingly.
9 Moreover Uzziah built towers in Jerusalem at the corner gate, and at the valley gate, and at the turning of the wall, and fortified them.
10 Also he built towers in the desert, and digged many wells: for he had much cattle, both in the low country, and in the plains: husbandmen also, and vine dressers in the mountains, and in Carmel: for he loved husbandry.
11 Moreover Uzziah had an host of fighting men, that went out to war by bands, according to the number of their account by the hand of Jeiel the scribe and Maaseiah the ruler, under the hand of Hananiah, one of the king’s captains.
12 The whole number of the chief of the fathers of the mighty men of valour were two thousand and six hundred.
13 And under their hand was an army, three hundred thousand and seven thousand and five hundred, that made war with mighty power, to help the king against the enemy.
14 And Uzziah prepared for them throughout all the host shields, and spears, and helmets, and habergeons, and bows, and slings to cast stones.
15 And he made in Jerusalem engines, invented by cunning men, to be on the towers and upon the bulwarks, to shoot arrows and great stones withal. And his name spread far abroad; for he was marvellously helped, till he was strong.
16 But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the Lord his God, and went into the temple of the Lord to burn incense upon the altar of incense.
17 And Azariah the priest went in after him, and with him fourscore priests of the Lord, that were valiant men:
18 And they withstood Uzziah the king, and said unto him, It appertaineth not unto thee, Uzziah, to burn incense unto the Lord, but to the priests the sons of Aaron, that are consecrated to burn incense: go out of the sanctuary; for thou hast trespassed; neither shall it be for thine honour from the Lord God.
19 Then Uzziah was wroth, and had a censer in his hand to burn incense: and while he was wroth with the priests, the leprosy even rose up in his forehead before the priests in the house of the Lord, from beside the incense altar.
20 And Azariah the chief priest, and all the priests, looked upon him, and, behold, he was leprous in his forehead, and they thrust him out from thence; yea, himself hasted also to go out, because the Lord had smitten him.
21 And Uzziah the king was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a several house, being a leper; for he was cut off from the house of the Lord: and Jotham his son was over the king’s house, judging the people of the land.
22 Now the rest of the acts of Uzziah, first and last, did Isaiah the prophet, the son of Amoz, write.
23 So Uzziah slept with his fathers, and they buried him with his fathers in the field of the burial which belonged to the kings; for they said, He is a leper: and Jotham his son reigned in his stead.
