Rit 3
1 Kèk tan apre sa, Naomi di Rit konsa: -Pa pito m’ chache yon mari pou ou, pou ou ka viv ak kè poze lakay ou?
2 Ou chonje Bòz, pa vre? Mèt jaden kote ou te ye ansanm ak medam yo? Bon! Ou chonje mwen te di ou se yon fanmi pre nou li ye! Bon. Koute! Aswè a, yo pral vannen lòj yo fin bat yo.
3 Al benyen. Mete odè sou ou, mete pi bèl rad ou sou ou. Epi ale bò glasi a, kote y’ap vannen an. Men, pa kite Bòz konnen ou la. W’a tann li fin manje, li fin bwè diven anvan.
4 Lè sa a, w’a gade byen kote li al kouche. Lè w’a wè dòmi pran l’, ou va ale, w’a leve pwent dra ki kouvri pye l’ yo, epi w’a kouche kouche ou la, bò kote l’. Li menm l’a di ou sa pou ou fè apre sa.
5 Rit reponn li: -M’a fè tou sa ou di m’ fè.
6 Se konsa Rit leve vre, li ale bò glasi a, li fè sa bèlmè li te di l’ fè a.
7 Lè Bòz fin manje, lè li fin bwè diven, kè l’ te kontan. Li al kouche bò yon pil pay lòj, epi dòmi pote l’ ale. Lè sa a, Rit pwoche tou dousman, li leve pwent dra ki te kouvri pye l’ yo, epi li kouche la bò kote l’.
8 Nan mitan lannwit, Bòz pantan nan dòmi an. Li leve, li panche, li tou sezi wè yon fanm ki te kouche nan pye l’.
9 Li mande: -Ki moun sa? Rit reponn li: -Se mwen menm, Rit. Ou se yon fanmi pre nou. Se ou ki reskonsab pou pran swen mwen. Mwen vin jwenn ou.
10 Bòz di l’ konsa: -benediksyon Seyè a avè ou, mafi! Sa w’ap fè la a pi konsekan pase tou sa ou te fè pou bèlmè ou la. Sa moutre ou pa soti pou ou lage fanmi an. Ou ta gen dwa al dèyè nenpòt ki jenn gason, rich osinon pòv, pou marye avè ou, men ou pa fè l’.
11 Ou pa bezwen bat kò ou, tande. M’ap fè tou sa ou mande m’ fè pou ou a. Tout moun konnen ou se yon fanm total.
12 Se vre sa ou di a. Mwen se yon fanmi pre nou. Mwen reskonsab ou. Men, gen yon nonm ki fanmi ou pi pre pase m’.
13 Ou mèt rete pase nwit lan la. Denmen maten m’a chache konnen si li vle pran reskonsablite a sou do li. Si li dakò pou li pran li, m’a byen kontan. Si li pa vle, enben, mwen fè sèman devan Bondye vivan ki nan syèl la, m’ap pran l’ mwen menm. Koulye a, rete kouche la jouk denmen maten.
14 Se konsa Rit kouche la nan pye l’. Men, anvan bajou kase, li leve pou moun pa wè l’, paske Bòz pa t’ vle pesonn konnen li te la.
15 Bòz di l’ konsa: -Wete dra ki vlope ou la, louvri l’ atè a. Rit louvri dra a atè. Bòz vide dis mamit lòj konsa ladan l’. Li mare l’, epi li ede l’ mete l’ sou tèt li. Apre sa, Rit tounen lavil ak pakèt la.
16 Lè li rive lakay li, bèlmè a mande l’: -Enben, mafi! Ki jan sa pase? Rit tanmen rakonte l’ tou sa Bòz fè pou li.
17 Epi li di: -Anvan m’ ale, li di m’ konsa ou pa ka tounen san anyen. Se konsa, li ban m’ dis mamit lòj sa yo.
18 Naomi di l’: -Koulye a, Rit mafi, poze kò ou tann pou ou wè jan sa pral pase. Bòz p’ap bay kò l’ kanpo jòdi a, tout tan li pa regle zafè sa a.

Ruth 3
1 Naomi, sa belle-mère, lui dit: Ma fille, je voudrais assurer ton repos, afin que tu fusses heureuse.
2 Et maintenant Boaz, avec les servantes duquel tu as été, n’est-il pas notre parent? Voici, il doit vanner cette nuit les orges qui sont dans l’aire.
3 Lave-toi et oins-toi, puis remets tes habits, et descends à l’aire. Tu ne te feras pas connaître à lui, jusqu’à ce qu’il ait achevé de manger et de boire.
4 Et quand il ira se coucher, observe le lieu où il se couche. Ensuite va, découvre ses pieds, et couche-toi. Il te dira lui-même ce que tu as à faire.
5 Elle lui répondit: Je ferai tout ce que tu as dit.
6 Elle descendit à l’aire, et fit tout ce qu’avait ordonné sa belle-mère.
7 Boaz mangea et but, et son coeur était joyeux. Il alla se coucher à l’extrémité d’un tas de gerbes. Ruth vint alors tout doucement, découvrit ses pieds, et se coucha.
8 Au milieu de la nuit, cet homme eut une frayeur; il se pencha, et voici, une femme était couchée à ses pieds.
9 Il dit: Qui es-tu? Elle répondit: Je suis Ruth, ta servante; étends ton aile sur ta servante, car tu as droit de rachat.
10 Et il dit: Sois bénie de l’Éternel, ma fille! Ce dernier trait témoigne encore plus en ta faveur que le premier, car tu n’as pas recherché des jeunes gens, pauvres ou riches.
11 Maintenant, ma fille, ne crains point; je ferai pour toi tout ce que tu diras; car toute la porte de mon peuple sait que tu es une femme vertueuse.
12 Il est bien vrai que j’ai droit de rachat, mais il en existe un autre plus proche que moi.
13 Passe ici la nuit. Et demain, s’il veut user envers toi du droit de rachat, à la bonne heure, qu’il le fasse; mais s’il ne lui plaît pas d’en user envers toi, j’en userai, moi, l’Éternel est vivant! Reste couchée jusqu’au matin.
14 Elle resta couchée à ses pieds jusqu’au matin, et elle se leva avant qu’on pût se reconnaître l’un l’autre. Boaz dit: Qu’on ne sache pas qu’une femme est entrée dans l’aire.
15 Et il ajouta: Donne le manteau qui est sur toi, et tiens-le. Elle le tint, et il mesura six mesures d’orge, qu’il chargea sur elle. Puis il rentra dans la ville.
16 Ruth revint auprès de sa belle-mère, et Naomi dit: Est-ce toi, ma fille? Ruth lui raconta tout ce que cet homme avait fait pour elle.
17 Elle dit: Il m’a donné ces six mesures d’orge, en disant: Tu ne retourneras pas à vide vers ta belle-mère.
18 Et Naomi dit: Sois tranquille, ma fille, jusqu’à ce que tu saches comment finira la chose, car cet homme ne se donnera point de repos qu’il n’ait terminé cette affaire aujourd’hui.

1 Then Naomi her mother in law said unto her, My daughter, shall I not seek rest for thee, that it may be well with thee?
2 And now is not Boaz of our kindred, with whose maidens thou wast? Behold, he winnoweth barley to night in the threshingfloor.
3 Wash thyself therefore, and anoint thee, and put thy raiment upon thee, and get thee down to the floor: but make not thyself known unto the man, until he shall have done eating and drinking.
4 And it shall be, when he lieth down, that thou shalt mark the place where he shall lie, and thou shalt go in, and uncover his feet, and lay thee down; and he will tell thee what thou shalt do.
5 And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.
6 And she went down unto the floor, and did according to all that her mother in law bade her.
7 And when Boaz had eaten and drunk, and his heart was merry, he went to lie down at the end of the heap of corn: and she came softly, and uncovered his feet, and laid her down.
8 And it came to pass at midnight, that the man was afraid, and turned himself: and, behold, a woman lay at his feet.
9 And he said, Who art thou? And she answered, I am Ruth thine handmaid: spread therefore thy skirt over thine handmaid; for thou art a near kinsman.
10 And he said, Blessed be thou of the Lord, my daughter: for thou hast shewed more kindness in the latter end than at the beginning, inasmuch as thou followedst not young men, whether poor or rich.
11 And now, my daughter, fear not; I will do to thee all that thou requirest: for all the city of my people doth know that thou art a virtuous woman.
12 And now it is true that I am thy near kinsman: howbeit there is a kinsman nearer than I.
13 Tarry this night, and it shall be in the morning, that if he will perform unto thee the part of a kinsman, well; let him do the kinsman’s part: but if he will not do the part of a kinsman to thee, then will I do the part of a kinsman to thee, as the Lord liveth: lie down until the morning.
14 And she lay at his feet until the morning: and she rose up before one could know another. And he said, Let it not be known that a woman came into the floor.
15 Also he said, Bring the vail that thou hast upon thee, and hold it. And when she held it, he measured six measures of barley, and laid it on her: and she went into the city.
16 And when she came to her mother in law, she said, Who art thou, my daughter? And she told her all that the man had done to her.
17 And she said, These six measures of barley gave he me; for he said to me, Go not empty unto thy mother in law.
18 Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.
