Jòb 1
1 Te gen yon nonm yo te rele Jòb. Li te rete nan peyi Ouz. Se te yon nonm san repwòch ki te mache dwat nan tou sa l’ap fè. Li te gen krentif pou Bondye, li te toujou ap chache fè sa ki byen.
2 Li te gen sèt pitit gason ak twa pitit fi.
3 Li te gen sètmil (7.000) mouton, twamil (3.000) chamo, mil (1.000) tèt bèf, senksan (500) fenmèl bourik. Li te gen anpil anpil moun ap sèvi avè l’. Nonm sa a, se li ki te pi grannèg nan peyi bò solèy leve a.
4 Pitit gason Jòb yo te konn reyini yonn lakay lòt pou fè gwo resepsyon. Konsa, yo chak te gen jou pa yo. Yo te toujou envite twa sè yo vin manje, vin bwè ansanm ak yo tou.
5 Chak lè yo fin fete konsa, Jòb fè yo tout vini lakay li. Nan maten, anvan bajou kase, li leve, li boule ofrann bay Bondye pou mande padon pou yo chak. Li te toujou fè sa, paske li t’ap di nan kè l’: Ou pa janm konnen. Pitit gason m’ yo ka fè peche, yo ka di sa yo pa t’ dwe di sou Bondye, san yo pa fè espre.
6 Yon jou tout zanj Bondye yo te reyini devan Seyè a, Satan vini tou nan mitan yo.
7 Seyè a mande l’ konsa: -Kote ou soti? Satan reponn: -M’ sot moute desann toupatou sou latè. Mwen t’ap pwonmennen gade!
8 Seyè a di Satan konsa: -Eske ou te wè Jòb, sèvitè m’ lan? Pa gen tankou l’ sou tout latè. Se yon nonm san repwòch ki mache dwat nan tou sa l’ap fè. Li gen krentif pou Bondye, li toujou ap chache fè sa ki byen.
9 Satan reponn li: -Atò, se pou gremesi Jòb gen krentif pou ou konsa a?
10 Ou toujou pwoteje l’, li menm, moun lakay li ansanm ak tou sa li genyen. Ou beni tou sa l’ap fè. Bèt li yo plen peyi a.
11 Men, kite ou manyen byen li yo pou ou wè, m’ garanti ou, l’ap di sa l’ pa t’ dwe di sou ou nan figi ou!
12 Seyè a di Satan: -Bon! Ou mèt fè sa ou vle ak byen l’ yo. Men, m’ tou pale ou, li menm, pa manyen l’! Se konsa Satan vire do l’, li ale.
13 Yon jou, pitit gason ak pitit fi Jòb yo te nan gwo resepsyon kay pi gran frè a. Yo t’ap manje, yo t’ap bwè diven.
14 Yon mesaje kouri vin jwenn Jòb, li di l’ konsa: -Nou t’ap raboure tè ak bèf yo, fenmèl bourik yo t’ap manje toupre,
15 lè yon bann moun Seba tonbe sou nou, yo pran tout bèt yo, yo touye tout moun ou yo. Se renk mwen menm ki resi chape vin di ou sa.
16 Msye pa t’ ankò fin pale lè yon lòt moun kouri vini. Li di konsa: -Loraj tonbe sou mouton yo, li boule ni bèt yo ni gadò yo. Se renk mwen menm ki resi chape vin fè ou konn sa.
17 Msye pa t’ ankò fin pale lè yon lòt moun rive, li di konsa: -Twa bann moun Kalde tonbe sou chamo ou yo, yo pran yo, y’ ale ak yo. Yo touye tout moun ou yo. Se renk mwen menm ki resi chape vin di ou sa.
18 Msye t’ap pale toujou lè yon lòt moun vin rive, li di konsa: -Pitit gason ak pitit fi ou yo t’ap manje, yo t’ap bwè diven lakay premye pitit gason ou lan,
19 lè yon sèl gwo van tanpèt leve soti nan dezè a. Li kraze kay la, li touye tout moun. Se renk mwen menm ki resi chape vin di ou sa.
20 Lè Jòb tande sa, li leve. Yon sèl lapenn pran l’, li chire rad sou li, li koupe tout cheve nan tèt li, li lage kò l’ atè, li bese tèt li.
21 Epi li di: -San anyen m’ soti nan vant manman m’. San anyen m’ap tounen anba tè. Seyè a bay! Seyè a pran! Lwanj pou Seyè a!
22 Malgre tout malè sa yo ki te rive l’, Jòb pa t’ fè ankenn peche, ni li pa janm di sa li pa t’ dwe di sou Bondye.

Job 1
1 Il y avait dans le pays d’Uts un homme qui s’appelait Job. Et cet homme était intègre et droit; il craignait Dieu, et se détournait du mal.
2 Il lui naquit sept fils et trois filles.
3 Il possédait sept mille brebis, trois mille chameaux, cinq cents paires de boeufs, cinq cents ânesses, et un très grand nombre de serviteurs. Et cet homme était le plus considérable de tous les fils de l’Orient.
4 Ses fils allaient les uns chez les autres et donnaient tour à tour un festin, et ils invitaient leurs trois soeurs à manger et à boire avec eux.
5 Et quand les jours de festin étaient passés, Job appelait et sanctifiait ses fils, puis il se levait de bon matin et offrait pour chacun d’eux un holocauste; car Job disait: Peut-être mes fils ont-ils péché et ont-ils offensé Dieu dans leur coeur. C’est ainsi que Job avait coutume d’agir.
6 Or, les fils de Dieu vinrent un jour se présenter devant l’Éternel, et Satan vint aussi au milieu d’eux.
7 L’Éternel dit à Satan: D’où viens-tu? Et Satan répondit à l’Éternel: De parcourir la terre et de m’y promener.
8 L’Éternel dit à Satan: As-tu remarqué mon serviteur Job? Il n’y a personne comme lui sur la terre; c’est un homme intègre et droit, craignant Dieu, et se détournant du mal.
9 Et Satan répondit à l’Éternel: Est-ce d’une manière désintéressée que Job craint Dieu?
10 Ne l’as-tu pas protégé, lui, sa maison, et tout ce qui est à lui? Tu as béni l’oeuvre de ses mains, et ses troupeaux couvrent le pays.
11 Mais étends ta main, touche à tout ce qui lui appartient, et je suis sûr qu’il te maudit en face.
12 L’Éternel dit à Satan: Voici, tout ce qui lui appartient, je te le livre; seulement, ne porte pas la main sur lui. Et Satan se retira de devant la face de l’Éternel.
13 Un jour que les fils et les filles de Job mangeaient et buvaient du vin dans la maison de leur frère aîné,
14 il arriva auprès de Job un messager qui dit: Les boeufs labouraient et les ânesses paissaient à côté d’eux;
15 des Sabéens se sont jetés dessus, les ont enlevés, et ont passé les serviteurs au fil de l’épée. Et je me suis échappé moi seul, pour t’en apporter la nouvelle.
16 Il parlait encore, lorsqu’un autre vint et dit: Le feu de Dieu est tombé du ciel, a embrasé les brebis et les serviteurs, et les a consumés. Et je me suis échappé moi seul, pour t’en apporter la nouvelle.
17 Il parlait encore, lorsqu’un autre vint et dit: Des Chaldéens, formés en trois bandes, se sont jetés sur les chameaux, les ont enlevés, et ont passé les serviteurs au fil de l’épée. Et je me suis échappé moi seul, pour t’en apporter la nouvelle.
18 Il parlait encore, lorsqu’un autre vint et dit: Tes fils et tes filles mangeaient et buvaient du vin dans la maison de leur frère aîné;
19 et voici, un grand vent est venu de l’autre côté du désert, et a frappé contre les quatre coins de la maison; elle s’est écroulée sur les jeunes gens, et ils sont morts. Et je me suis échappé moi seul, pour t’en apporter la nouvelle.
20 Alors Job se leva, déchira son manteau, et se rasa la tête; puis, se jetant par terre, il se prosterna,
21 et dit: Je suis sorti nu du sein de ma mère, et nu je retournerai dans le sein de la terre. L’Éternel a donné, et l’Éternel a ôté; que le nom de l’Éternel soit béni!
22 En tout cela, Job ne pécha point et n’attribua rien d’injuste à Dieu.

Job 1
1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil.
2 And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters.
3 His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east.
4 And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them.
5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.
6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.
7 And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
8 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
9 Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?
10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.
12 And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.
13 And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:
14 And there came a messenger unto Job, and said, The oxen were plowing, and the asses feeding beside them:
15 And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
16 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
17 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
18 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:
19 And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,
21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.
22 In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.
