Neyemi 13
1 Yon jou, pandan yo t’ap li nan liv lalwa Moyiz la pou pèp la, yo rive yon kote ki di: Moun Amon yo ak moun Moab yo pa janm gen dwa mete pwent pye yo kote pèp Bondye a sanble.
2 Paske moun Amon ak moun Moab yo te refize bay moun pèp Izrayèl yo pen ak dlo lè yo t’ap soti kite peyi Lejip la. Okontrè, yo bay Balaram lajan pou l’ te ka madichonnen yo. Men, Bondye fè tou, li vire madichon an, li fè l’ tounen benediksyon.
3 Lè moun pèp Izrayèl yo tande sa yo te li nan liv lalwa a, yo pran tout moun lòt nasyon ki t’ap viv nan mitan yo, yo mete yo deyò.
4 Anvan tout bagay sa yo, se Elyachib, yonn nan prèt yo, yo te mete reskonsab chanm depo magazen tanp lan. Li te fanmi prèt Tobija.
5 Se konsa li pran yonn nan gwo chanm depo kote yo te konn mete ofrann yo, lansan an, veso ki sèvi nan tanp lan, ofrann ladim sou ble a, sou diven nivo a ak sou lwil, ofrann yo te fè pou moun Levi yo, pou mizisyen yo ak pou gad pòtay yo, ansanm ak pòsyon yo mete apa pou prèt yo, li fè ranje chanm lan pou Tobija.
6 Pandan tout bagay sa yo t’ap pase, mwen pa t’ lavil Jerizalèm paske, lè wa Atagzèsès te rive sou tranndezan depi l’ t’ap gouvènen, nou te fè yon vwayaj al bò kote l’. Kèk tan apre sa, li ban m’ otorizasyon ankò,
7 epi m’ tounen lavil Jerizalèm. Se lè sa a mwen vin konnen move bagay Elyachib te fè a, lè li te pran yon chanm nan lakou tanp Bondye a pou l’ te bay Tobija rete.
8 Mwen te fache anpil poutèt sa. Mwen pran tout mèb ki te lakay Tobija yo, mwen jete yo deyò nan lari.
9 Lèfini, mwen bay lòd pou yo fè sèvis pou mete chanm depo yo nan kondisyon pou fè sèvis Bondye, apre sa pou yo mete tout veso ki pou sèvis tanp lan, ansanm ak ofrann yo ak lansan an nan plas yo ankò.
10 Mwen vin konnen tou pèp la pa t’ bay sa pou yo te bay pou moun Levi yo, kifè moun Levi yo ak mizisyen yo te leve kite travay yo lavil Jerizalèm, yo tounen nan jaden yo.
11 Mwen rale zòrèy chèf yo, mwen mande yo poukisa yo pa okipe tanp la ankò. Mwen voye chache moun Levi yo ak mizisyen yo, m’ fè yo tounen nan tanp lan vin fè travay yo.
12 Lè sa a, tout moun pèp Izrayèl yo pote ofrann ladim ble, ladim diven ak ladim lwil vin mete nan depo a.
13 Mwen chwazi twa moun: Chelemya, yon prèt, Zadòk, yon direktè lalwa, ak Pedaja, yon moun Levi, mwen mete yo reskonsab chanm depo yo. Mwen chwazi yon lòt moun, Anan, pitit gason Zakou, pitit pitit Matanya, pou ede yo nan travay la. Mwen konnen mesye sa yo te nèg serye. Se yo ki te reskonsab separe pwovizyon yo bay prèt ak moun Levi parèy yo.
14 Se poutèt sa, O Bondye mwen, pa bliye m’, tanpri! Pa bliye tout bagay sa yo mwen te fè pou tanp ou a ak pou regleman ou bay yo, paske mwen bay lavi m’ nèt pou sèvi ou!
15 Lè sa a tou, mwen wè kèk moun nan peyi Jida a ki t’ap fè ji rezen gwo jou repo a. Gen lòt menm ki t’ap chaje pakèt ble, diven, rezen, fig frans ak anpil lòt chay toujou sou bourik pou yo ale lavil Jerizalèm jou repo a. Mwen avèti yo pou yo pa vann jou sa a.
16 Te gen kèk moun lavil Tir ki te rete lavil Jerizalèm pou fè kòmès. Yo te konn pote pwason ak tout lòt kalite machandiz pou yo te vann moun Jida yo jou repo a.
17 Mwen rale zòrèy chèf peyi Jida yo, mwen di yo: -Ki kalite bagay lèd n’ap fè la a konsa! Gade jan n’ap derespekte jou repo Bondye a non!
18 Se sa menm zansèt nou yo te konn fè, kifè Bondye nou an te pini nou, li te kite tout malè sa yo tonbe sou nou ak sou lavil la. Koulye a n’ap fè Bondye pi fache toujou lè nou pa respekte jou repo li a!
19 Se konsa mwen bay lòd pou yo toujou fèmen tout batan pòtay lavil la pou tout jou repo a, depi lavèy lè solèy fin kouche, epi pou yo kite yo fèmen pou jouk nan denmen lè solèy la va kouche ankò. Mwen mete kèk moun pa m’ menm ap veye bò pòtay yo pou ankenn chay pa antre nan lavil la jou repo a.
20 Yonn ou de fwa, kèk machann k’ap fè trafik vann tout kalite machandiz te blije pase nwit lavèy jou repo a, deyò lòt bò pòtay lavil Jerizalèm.
21 Mwen avèti yo, mwen di yo: -Sa nou bezwen rete pase nwit lan deyò bò miray la fè? Si nou fè sa ankò, m’ap fè mete men sou nou. Depi lè sa a yo pa janm vini jou repo a ankò.
22 Mwen bay moun Levi yo lòd pou yo fè sèvis pou mete tèt pa yo nan kondisyon pou fè sèvis Bondye, apre sa pou yo vin veye pòtay yo pou nou te ka fete jou repo a jan Bondye vle l’ la. Poutèt sa tou, o Bondye mwen, pa bliye mwen! Pou jan ou gen bon kè, tanpri, pitye pou mwen!
23 Se lè sa a tou, mwen vin wè te gen anpil jwif ki te marye ak fanm ki te moun peyi Asdòd, moun peyi Amon osinon moun peyi Moab.
24 Mwatye nan timoun yo te pale lang peyi Asdòd la ase ou ankò yon lòt kalite lang. Yo pa t’ konn pale lang nou an.
25 Mwen rale zòrèy mesye yo, mwen mande pou madichon tonbe sou yo. Mwen fè bat anpil ladan yo, mwen fè rache cheve nan tèt yo. Mwen fè yo fè sèman devan Bondye pou yo pa janm pran pitit fi yo pou yo marye yo ak mesye lòt nasyon yo, ni tou pou yo pa janm pran fi nan mitan fi lòt nasyon yo pou madanm pa yo osinon pou madanm pitit gason yo.
26 Mwen di yo: -Se peche sa a menm wa Salomon te fè! Atout pa t’ gen tankou l’ nan tout wa lòt nasyon yo, atout Bondye l’ la te renmen l’, atout se Bondye menm ki te mete l’ wa sou tout pèp Izrayèl la, se madanm lòt nasyon yo ki te pran tèt li pou fè l’ fè sa ki mal.
27 Koulye a nou ta renmen tout moun vin konnen n’ap fè menm gwo peche sa a, n’ap trayi Bondye nou an, n’ap marye ak medam ki moun lòt nasyon?
28 Jojada te pitit Elyachib, granprèt la. Yonn nan pitit gason l’ yo te marye ak pitit fi Sanbalat, nèg lavil Bèt-Owon an. Mwen mete l’ deyò pou m’ pa janm wè l’ devan je m’ ankò.
29 O Bondye mwen, pa janm bliye moun sa yo pou jan yo avili travay prèt yo ak kontra ou te siyen ak prèt yo ansanm ak moun Levi yo!
30 Mwen te wete tout bagay ki pou moun lòt nasyon yo nan mitan pèp la pou yo te ka nan kondisyon pou sèvi Bondye. Mwen fè regleman pou prèt yo ak moun Levi yo. Konsa, chak moun te gen travay pa yo.
31 Mwen bay lè pou yo fè ofrann bwa yo ak ofrann premye grenn ak premye fwi ki mi nan jaden lè rekòt. O Bondye mwen, pa bliye m’ tande! Pa bliye se mwen menm ki fè tou sa!

Nehémie 13
1 Dans ce temps, on lut en présence du peuple dans le livre de Moïse, et l’on y trouva écrit que l’Ammonite et le Moabite ne devraient jamais entrer dans l’assemblée de Dieu,
2 parce qu’ils n’étaient pas venus au-devant des enfants d’Israël avec du pain et de l’eau, et parce qu’ils avaient appelé contre eux à prix d’argent Balaam pour qu’il les maudît; mais notre Dieu changea la malédiction en bénédiction.
3 Lorsqu’on eut entendu la loi, on sépara d’Israël tous les étrangers.
4 Avant cela, le sacrificateur Éliaschib, établi dans les chambres de la maison de notre Dieu, et parent de Tobija,
5 avait disposé pour lui une grande chambre où l’on mettait auparavant les offrandes, l’encens, les ustensiles, la dîme du blé, du moût et de l’huile, ce qui était ordonné pour les Lévites, les chantres et les portiers, et ce qui était prélevé pour les sacrificateurs.
6 Je n’étais point à Jérusalem quand tout cela eut lieu, car j’étais retourné auprès du roi la trente-deuxième année d’Artaxerxès, roi de Babylone.
7 A la fin de l’année, j’obtins du roi la permission de revenir à Jérusalem, et je m’aperçus du mal qu’avait fait Éliaschib, en disposant une chambre pour Tobija dans les parvis de la maison de Dieu.
8 J’en éprouvai un vif déplaisir, et je jetai hors de la chambre tous les objets qui appartenaient à Tobija;
9 j’ordonnai qu’on purifiât les chambres, et j’y replaçai les ustensiles de la maison de Dieu, les offrandes et l’encens.
10 J’appris aussi que les portions des Lévites n’avaient point été livrées, et que les Lévites et les chantres chargés du service s’étaient enfuis chacun dans son territoire.
11 Je fils des réprimandes aux magistrats, et je dis: Pourquoi la maison de Dieu a-t-elle été abandonnée? Et je rassemblai les Lévites et les chantres, et je les remis à leur poste.
12 Alors tout Juda apporta dans les magasins la dîme du blé, du moût et de l’huile.
13 Je confiai la surveillance des magasins à Schélémia, le sacrificateur, à Tsadok, le scribe, et à Pedaja, l’un des Lévites, et je leur adjoignis Hanan, fils de Zaccur, fils de Matthania, car ils avaient la réputation d’être fidèles. Ils furent chargés de faire les distributions à leurs frères.
14 Souviens-toi de moi, ô mon Dieu, à cause de cela, et n’oublie pas mes actes de piété à l’égard de la maison de mon Dieu et des choses qui doivent être observées!
15 A cette époque, je vis en Juda des hommes fouler au pressoir pendant le sabbat, rentrer des gerbes, charger sur des ânes même du vin, des raisins et des figues, et toutes sortes de choses, et les amener à Jérusalem le jour du sabbat; et je leur donnai des avertissements le jour où ils vendaient leurs denrées.
16 Il y avait aussi des Tyriens, établis à Jérusalem, qui apportaient du poisson et toutes sortes de marchandises, et qui les vendaient aux fils de Juda le jour du sabbat et dans Jérusalem.
17 Je fis des réprimandes aux grands de Juda, et je leur dis: Que signifie cette mauvaise action que vous faites, en profanant le jour du sabbat?
18 N’est-ce pas ainsi qu’ont agi vos père, et n’est-ce pas à cause de cela que notre Dieu a fait venir tous ces malheurs sur nous et sur cette ville? Et vous, vous attirez de nouveau sa colère contre Israël, en profanant le sabbat!
19 Puis j’ordonnai qu’on fermât les portes de Jérusalem avant le sabbat, dès qu’elles seraient dans l’ombre, et qu’on ne les ouvrît qu’après le sabbat. Et je plaçai quelques-uns de mes serviteurs aux portes, pour empêcher l’entrée des fardeaux le jour du sabbat.
20 Alors les marchands et les vendeurs de toutes sortes de choses passèrent une ou deux fois la nuit hors de Jérusalem.
21 Je les avertis, en leur disant: Pourquoi passez-vous la nuit devant la muraille? Si vous le faites encore, je mettrai la main sur vous. Dès ce moment, ils ne vinrent plus pendant le sabbat.
22 J’ordonnai aussi aux Lévites de se purifier et de venir garder les portes pour sanctifier le jour du sabbat. Souviens-toi de moi, ô mon Dieu, à cause de cela, et protège-moi selon ta grande miséricorde!
23 A cette même époque, je vis des Juifs qui avaient pris des femmes asdodiennes, ammonites, moabites.
24 La moitié de leurs fils parlaient l’asdodien, et ne savaient pas parler le juif; ils ne connaissaient que la langue de tel ou tel peuple.
25 Je leur fis des réprimandes, et je les maudis; j’en frappai quelques-uns, je leur arrachai les cheveux, et je les fis jurer au nom de Dieu, en disant: Vous ne donnerez pas vos filles à leurs fils, et vous ne prendrez leurs filles ni pour vos fils ni pour vous.
26 N’est-ce pas en cela qu’a péché Salomon, roi d’Israël? Il n’y avait point de roi semblable à lui parmi la multitude des nations, il était aimé de son Dieu, et Dieu l’avait établi roi sur tout Israël; néanmoins, les femmes étrangères l’entraînèrent aussi dans le péché.
27 Faut-il donc apprendre à votre sujet que vous commettez un aussi grand crime et que vous péchez contre notre Dieu en prenant des femmes étrangères?
28 Un des fils de Jojada, fils d’Éliaschib, le souverain sacrificateur, était gendre de Sanballat, le Horonite. Je le chassai loin de moi.
29 Souviens-toi d’eux, ô mon Dieu, car ils ont souillé le sacerdoce et l’alliance contractée par les sacrificateurs et les Lévites.
30 Je les purifiai de tout étranger, et je remis en vigueur ce que devaient observer les sacrificateurs et les Lévites, chacun dans sa fonction,
31 et ce qui concernait l’offrande du bois aux époques fixées, de même que les prémices. Souviens-toi favorablement de moi, ô mon Dieu!

Nehemiah 13
1 On that day they read in the book of Moses in the audience of the people; and therein was found written, that the Ammonite and the Moabite should not come into the congregation of God for ever;
2 Because they met not the children of Israel with bread and with water, but hired Balaam against them, that he should curse them: howbeit our God turned the curse into a blessing.
3 Now it came to pass, when they had heard the law, that they separated from Israel all the mixed multitude.
4 And before this, Eliashib the priest, having the oversight of the chamber of the house of our God, was allied unto Tobiah:
5 And he had prepared for him a great chamber, where aforetime they laid the meat offerings, the frankincense, and the vessels, and the tithes of the corn, the new wine, and the oil, which was commanded to be given to the Levites, and the singers, and the porters; and the offerings of the priests.
6 But in all this time was not I at Jerusalem: for in the two and thirtieth year of Artaxerxes king of Babylon came I unto the king, and after certain days obtained I leave of the king:
7 And I came to Jerusalem, and understood of the evil that Eliashib did for Tobiah, in preparing him a chamber in the courts of the house of God.
8 And it grieved me sore: therefore I cast forth all the household stuff to Tobiah out of the chamber.
9 Then I commanded, and they cleansed the chambers: and thither brought I again the vessels of the house of God, with the meat offering and the frankincense.
10 And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given them: for the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field.
11 Then contended I with the rulers, and said, Why is the house of God forsaken? And I gathered them together, and set them in their place.
12 Then brought all Judah the tithe of the corn and the new wine and the oil unto the treasuries.
13 And I made treasurers over the treasuries, Shelemiah the priest, and Zadok the scribe, and of the Levites, Pedaiah: and next to them was Hanan the son of Zaccur, the son of Mattaniah: for they were counted faithful, and their office was to distribute unto their brethren.
14 Remember me, O my God, concerning this, and wipe not out my good deeds that I have done for the house of my God, and for the offices thereof.
15 In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine, grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day wherein they sold victuals.
16 There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of Judah, and in Jerusalem.
17 Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them, What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day?
18 Did not your fathers thus, and did not our God bring all this evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by profaning the sabbath.
19 And it came to pass, that when the gates of Jerusalem began to be dark before the sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the sabbath day.
20 So the merchants and sellers of all kind of ware lodged without Jerusalem once or twice.
21 Then I testified against them, and said unto them, Why lodge ye about the wall? if ye do so again, I will lay hands on you. From that time forth came they no more on the sabbath.
22 And I commanded the Levites that they should cleanse themselves, and that they should come and keep the gates, to sanctify the sabbath day. Remember me, O my God, concerning this also, and spare me according to the greatness of thy mercy.
23 In those days also saw I Jews that had married wives of Ashdod, of Ammon, and of Moab:
24 And their children spake half in the speech of Ashdod, and could not speak in the Jews’ language, but according to the language of each people.
25 And I contended with them, and cursed them, and smote certain of them, and plucked off their hair, and made them swear by God, saying, Ye shall not give your daughters unto their sons, nor take their daughters unto your sons, or for yourselves.
26 Did not Solomon king of Israel sin by these things? yet among many nations was there no king like him, who was beloved of his God, and God made him king over all Israel: nevertheless even him did outlandish women cause to sin.
27 Shall we then hearken unto you to do all this great evil, to transgress against our God in marrying strange wives?
28 And one of the sons of Joiada, the son of Eliashib the high priest, was son in law to Sanballat the Horonite: therefore I chased him from me.
29 Remember them, O my God, because they have defiled the priesthood, and the covenant of the priesthood, and of the Levites.
30 Thus cleansed I them from all strangers, and appointed the wards of the priests and the Levites, every one in his business;
31 And for the wood offering, at times appointed, and for the firstfruits. Remember me, O my God, for good.
