1 Moun Filisti yo leve yon sèl batay ak moun pèp Izrayèl yo sou mòn Gilboa. Anpil nan moun pèp Izrayèl yo te mouri, rès yo te kouri met deyò.
2 Moun Filisti yo rive sou Sayil ak pitit gason l’ yo. Yo touye Jonatan, Abinadab ak Malchichwa frèt.
3 Batay la te mangonmen kote Sayil te ye a. Mesye ki t’ap voye flèch nan banza yo te konmanse ap vize sou li. Lè li wè sa, li pran tranble.
4 Li rele gad kò ki t’ap pote zam li yo, li di l’ konsa: -Rale nepe ou, touye m’ pou bann moun sa yo ki pa sèvi Bondye pa gen tan rive sou mwen pou yo pase m’ nan betiz. Men, gad kò a pa t’ vle paske li te pè anpil. Lè sa a, Sayil pran nepe a, li vire l’ tèt anba, li lage kò l’ sou li.
5 Lè gad kò a wè Sayil te mouri, li fè menm bagay la tou, li lage kò l’ sou nepe pa li a, li mouri ansanm ak Sayil.
6 Se konsa, ni Sayil ni twa pitit gason l’ yo te mouri. Jou sa a, tout mesye Sayil yo te mouri.
7 Moun pèp Izrayèl yo ki te rete nan fon an te wè sòlda pèp Izrayèl yo kouri epi Sayil ak pitit gason l’ yo mouri. Lè sa a, yo leve kite lavil kote yo te rete yo, yo met deyò. Moun Filisti yo vini, yo pran lavil yo pou yo.
8 Nan denmen apre batay la, moun Filisti yo tounen pou pran zam ki te sou kadav sòlda mouri yo, yo jwenn kadav Sayil ak kadav twa pitit gason l’ yo kouche atè sou mòn Gilboa a.
9 Yo koupe tèt Sayil, yo pran tout zam li yo. Lèfini, yo voye gaye bon nouvèl sa a nan tout peyi Filisti a, nan tanp zidòl yo ak nan zòrèy tout pèp la.
10 Yo mete zam Sayil yo nan tanp Astate, zidòl yo a. Epi yo pran tèt li, yo kloure l’ nan tanp Dagon an.
11 Lè moun lavil Jabès yo, nan peyi Galarad, vin konnen sa moun Filisti yo te fè Sayil,
12 tout mesye ki te brave danje yo leve, y’ al pran kadav Sayil la ansanm ak kadav pitit gason l’ yo, yo tounen ak yo lavil Jabès. Yo antere zosman yo anba pye tonmaren ki nan lavil Jabès la. Apre sa, yo pase sèt jou san manje.
13 Se konsa Sayil mouri paske li pa t’ kenbe pawòl li ak Seyè a. Li pa t’ obeyi lòd Seyè a te ba li. Li te pito fè yo rele nanm moun mouri pou l’ te konnen sa ki tapral rive l’,
14 pase pou l’ te al mande Seyè a sa. Se poutèt sa Seyè a te touye l’, li renmèt gouvènman an nan men David, pitit lzayi a.

1 Les Philistins livrèrent bataille à Israël, et les hommes d’Israël prirent la fuite devant les Philistins et tombèrent morts sur la montagne de Guilboa.
2 Les Philistins poursuivirent Saül et ses fils, et tuèrent Jonathan, Abinadab et Malki Schua, fils de Saül.
3 L’effort du combat porta sur Saül; les archers l’atteignirent et le blessèrent.
4 Saül dit alors à celui qui portait ses armes: Tire ton épée, et transperce-m’en, de peur que ces incirconcis ne viennent me faire subir leurs outrages. Celui qui portait ses armes ne voulut pas, car il était saisi de crainte. Et Saül prit son épée, et se jeta dessus.
5 Celui qui portait les armes de Saül, le voyant mort, se jeta aussi sur son épée, et mourut.
6 Ainsi périrent Saül et ses trois fils, et toute sa maison périt en même temps.
7 Tous ceux d’Israël qui étaient dans la vallée, ayant vu qu’on avait fui et que Saül et ses fils étaient morts, abandonnèrent leurs villes pour prendre aussi la fuite. Et les Philistins allèrent s’y établir.
8 Le lendemain, les Philistins vinrent pour dépouiller les morts, et ils trouvèrent Saül et ses fils tombés sur la montagne de Guilboa.
9 Ils le dépouillèrent, et emportèrent sa tête et ses armes. Puis ils firent annoncer ces bonnes nouvelles par tout le pays des Philistins à leurs idoles et au peuple.
10 Ils mirent les armes de Saül dans la maison de leur dieu, et ils attachèrent son crâne dans le temple de Dagon.
11 Tout Jabès en Galaad ayant appris tout ce que les Philistins avaient fait à Saül,
12 tous les hommes vaillants se levèrent, prirent le corps de Saül et ceux de ses fils, et les transportèrent à Jabès. Ils enterrèrent leur os sous le térébinthe, à Jabès, et ils jeûnèrent sept jours.
13 Saül mourut, parce qu’il se rendit coupable d’infidélité envers l’Éternel, dont il n’observa point la parole, et parce qu’il interrogea et consulta ceux qui évoquent les morts.
14 Il ne consulta point l’Éternel; alors l’Éternel le fit mourir, et transféra la royauté à David, fils d’Isaï.

1 Chronicles 10
1 Now the Philistines fought against Israel; and the men of Israel fled from before the Philistines, and fell down slain in mount Gilboa.
2 And the Philistines followed hard after Saul, and after his sons; and the Philistines slew Jonathan, and Abinadab, and Malchishua, the sons of Saul.
3 And the battle went sore against Saul, and the archers hit him, and he was wounded of the archers.
4 Then said Saul to his armourbearer, Draw thy sword, and thrust me through therewith; lest these uncircumcised come and abuse me. But his armourbearer would not; for he was sore afraid. So Saul took a sword, and fell upon it.
5 And when his armourbearer saw that Saul was dead, he fell likewise on the sword, and died.
6 So Saul died, and his three sons, and all his house died together.
7 And when all the men of Israel that were in the valley saw that they fled, and that Saul and his sons were dead, then they forsook their cities, and fled: and the Philistines came and dwelt in them.
8 And it came to pass on the morrow, when the Philistines came to strip the slain, that they found Saul and his sons fallen in mount Gilboa.
9 And when they had stripped him, they took his head, and his armour, and sent into the land of the Philistines round about, to carry tidings unto their idols, and to the people.
10 And they put his armour in the house of their gods, and fastened his head in the temple of Dagon.
11 And when all Jabeshgilead heard all that the Philistines had done to Saul,
12 They arose, all the valiant men, and took away the body of Saul, and the bodies of his sons, and brought them to Jabesh, and buried their bones under the oak in Jabesh, and fasted seven days.
13 So Saul died for his transgression which he committed against the Lord, even against the word of the Lord, which he kept not, and also for asking counsel of one that had a familiar spirit, to enquire of it;
14 And enquired not of the Lord: therefore he slew him, and turned the kingdom unto David the son of Jesse.
