Ezekyel 20
1 Lè sa a, se te dizyèm jou nan senkyèm mwa setyèm lanne depi yo te depòte pèp la nan peyi Babilòn. De twa chèf fanmi nan pèp Izrayèl la vin jwenn mwen pou m’ te ka pale ak Seyè a pou yo. Yo te chita devan m’.
2 Lè sa a, Seyè a pale avè m’, li di m’ konsa:
3 -Nonm o! Pale ak chèf fanmi pèp Izrayèl yo. Di yo men mesaj Seyè sèl Mèt la voye di yo: Nou vin chache konnen volonte m’, pa vre? Jan nou konnen mwen vivan vre a, mwen p’ap kite moun mande m’ anyen. Se mwen menm, Seyè sèl Mèt la, ki di sa.
4 Nonm o! Eske ou pare pou ba yo santans yo? Eske ou pare? Fè yo chonje tout vye krim zansèt yo te konn fè.
5 W’a di yo: Men mesaj Seyè ki sèl Mèt la voye ba yo: Lè mwen te chwazi pèp Izrayèl la, moun fanmi Jakòb yo, mwen te fè sèman ba yo, mwen te fè yo konnen ki moun mwen ye lè yo te nan peyi Lejip la. Mwen te fè sèman ba yo, mwen te di yo se mwen menm Seyè a ki Bondye yo.
6 Lè sa a, mwen te fè sèman m’ t’ap fè yo soti kite Lejip la, m’ t’ap mennen yo nan yon peyi mwen te chwazi pou yo, yon peyi kote lèt ak siwo myèl koule kou dlo, yon peyi ki pi bèl pase tout lòt peyi.
7 Mwen te di yo se pou yo te voye jete tout vye zidòl derespektan yo te renmen yo. Se pa pou yo avili tèt yo nan sèvi vye zidòl peyi Lejip yo. Paske se mwen menm Seyè a ki Bondye yo.
8 Men, yo te kenbe tèt avè m’, yo derefize koute m’. Yo yonn pa t’ voye vye zidòl derespektan yo te renmen yo jete. Yo tout te derefize kite vye zidòl peyi Lejip yo. Lè sa a, la menm nan peyi Lejip la, m’ te fè lide pou m’ te fè yo wè jan m’ te move, pou m’ te fè yo santi sa m’ ta ka fè yo lè m’ fache.
9 Men, mwen pa t’ fè l’ pou sa pa t’ bay pèp peyi kote yo t’ap viv la okazyon pou yo trennen non mwen nan labou, paske se devan tout pèp sa yo mwen te fè moun Izrayèl yo konnen mwen t’ap fè yo soti kite peyi Lejip la.
10 Se konsa, mwen fè yo soti kite peyi Lejip. Mwen mennen yo nan dezè a.
11 Mwen ba yo lòd mwen, mwen fè yo konnen prensip mwen yo, prensip ki bay lavi depi yon moun swiv yo.
12 Lèfini, mwen ba yo jou repo m’ yo pou sa fè yo chonje kontra mwen siyen ak yo, pou yo pa janm bliye se mwen menm, Seyè a, k’ap fè yo viv apa pou Bondye.
13 Men, depi nan dezè a menm, moun Izrayèl yo t’ap kenbe tèt avè m’. Yo pa mache dapre lòd mwen ba yo, yo voye prensip mwen yo jete, prensip ki bay lavi depi yon moun swiv yo. Yo pa respekte jou repo m’ yo menm. Lè sa a, mwen te fè lide pou m’ te fè yo santi sa m’ ta ka fè yo lè m’ move: m’ te ka disparèt yo tout la nan dezè a.
14 Men, mwen pa fè l’ pou sa pa t’ bay pèp ki te wè lè m’ t’ap fè yo kite peyi Lejip la okazyon pou yo trennen non mwen nan labou.
15 Se konsa, mwen fè sèman nan dezè a mwen pa t’ap mennen yo nan peyi mwen te ba yo a, peyi kote lèt ak siwo myèl ap koule tankou dlo, peyi ki pi bèl pase tout lòt peyi.
16 Mwen te fè sèman sa a paske yo te voye prensip mwen te moutre yo jete, yo pa t’ mache dapre lòd mwen te ba yo. Yo pa t’ respekte jou repo m’ yo tèlman yo pa t’ vle lage zidòl yo.
17 Men apre sa, kè m’ te fè m’ mal pou yo, mwen pran desizyon mwen p’ap touye yo. Se konsa, mwen pa t’ disparèt yo tout nan dezè a.
18 Lè sa a, mwen pale ak pitit yo nan dezè a, mwen di yo: Pa mache dapre lòd granmoun lontan nou yo. Pa swiv menm prensip ak yo. Pa al avili tèt nou nan sèvis zidòl yo.
19 Se mwen menm, Seyè a, ki Bondye nou. Swiv prensip pa mwen yo, mache dapre lòd mwen bay yo.
20 Fè tou sa mwen di nou fè. Respekte jou repo m’ yo pou fè wè nou kenbe kontra m’ te siyen ak nou an. Konsa, moun va konnen se mwen menm Seyè a ki Bondye nou.
21 Men, pitit yo kenbe tèt avè m’ tou, yo pa mache dapre lòd mwen ba yo. Yo voye prensip mwen yo jete, prensip ki bay lavi depi yon moun swiv yo. Yo pa respekte jou repo m’ yo. Lè sa a, mwen te fè lide pou m’ te fè yo wè jan m’ te move, pou m’ te fè yo santi nan dezè a sa m’ ta ka fè yo lè m’ fache.
22 Men, mwen kenbe men m’ pou m’ pa fè l’ pou sa pa t’ bay pèp ki te wè lè m’ t’ap fè yo soti kite peyi Lejip la okazyon pou yo trennen non mwen nan labou.
23 Men, fwa sa a ankò, mwen fè yon lòt sèman nan dezè a, mwen fè sèman m’ap gaye yo nan mitan lòt nasyon yo, m’ap simaye nou nan divès peyi etranje.
24 Mwen fè sa paske yo te voye prensip mwen te moutre yo jete, yo pa t’ mache dapre lòd mwen ba yo. Yo pa t’ respekte jou repo m’ yo tèlman yo pa t’ vle lage zidòl papa yo te konn sèvi yo.
25 Se konsa, mwen menm bò pa m’, mwen ba yo lòd ki pa t’ twò bon ak prensip ki pa bay lavi.
26 Mwen kite yo avili tèt yo ak ofrann y’ap fè yo, mwen kite yo boule premye pitit gason yo pou zidòl yo. Se pou m’ te ka fè yo pè, pou m’ te ka fè yo konnen se mwen menm ki Seyè a.
27 Koulye a, nonm o, pale ak moun pèp Izrayèl yo! Di yo: Men mesaj Seyè ki sèl Mèt la voye ba yo. La ankò zansèt nou yo te manke m’ dega, yo pa t’ kenbe pawòl yo ak mwen.
28 Mwen mennen yo nan peyi mwen te pwomèt m’ap ba yo a. Lè yo wè gwo mòn yo ak bèl pyebwa tou vèt yo, se la yo touye bèt yo ofri pou zidòl yo. Yo fè ofrann grenn jaden ki fè m’ fache sou yo. Yo boule ofrann pou fè zidòl yo plezi ak bon sant yo, yo vide diven atè pou yo.
29 Mwen mande yo poukisa tout kay zidòl sa yo kote yo prale a? Depi lè sa a, yo rele kote sa yo Kay Zidòl jouk jòdi a.
30 Koulye a, di moun pèp Izrayèl yo: Men mesaj Seyè ki sèl Mèt la voye ba yo: Poukisa pou n’ap avili tèt nou tankou zansèt nou yo te fè yo, pou n’ap kouri fè sèvis pou zidòl yo?
31 Jouk jòdi a, n’ap fè ofrann bay yo, n’ap bay pitit nou pou yo boule pou zidòl yo. N’ap plede avili tèt nou ak tout vye zidòl sa yo. Lèfini, pou m’ ta kite nou vin mande mwen kisa mwen vle nou fè ankò? Jan nou konnen mwen vivan vre a, mwen p’ap penmèt nou mande m’ anyen! Se mwen menm, Seyè ki sèl Mèt la, ki di sa!
32 Nou gen yon sèl lide nan tèt nou: N’ap plede di se pou nou tankou lòt nasyon yo, tankou moun k’ap viv nan lòt peyi yo, k’ap fè sèvis pou pyebwa ak wòch. Men, nou p’ap janm wè sa rive.
33 Jan nou konnen mwen vivan vre a! Se mwen menm, Seyè Sèl Mèt la, k’ap pale! Se mwen menm k’ap gouvènen nou. M’ap kenbe nou anba ponyèt mwen ak tout fòs kouraj mwen, m’ap fè nou santi kòlè m’.
34 Anba ponyèt mwen, ak tout fòs kouraj mwen, m’ap fè nou santi kòlè m’, m’ap fè nou soti nan mitan lòt pèp yo. M’ap ranmase nou nan mitan tout peyi kote mwen te gaye nou yo.
35 M’ap mennen nou nan dezè nasyon yo. Se la m’ap jije nou san pesonn lòt p’ap wè.
36 Lè sa a, m’ap kondannen nou menm jan mwen te kondannen zansèt nou yo nan dezè peyi Lejip la. Se mwen menm, Seyè sèl Mèt la, ki di sa.
37 M’ap kontwole nou tankou yon gadò k’ap kontwole mouton l’ yo, m’ap fè nou obeyi kontra m’ siyen ak nou an.
38 M’ap wete nan mitan nou tout moun k’ap fè wòklò, tout moun k’ap kenbe tèt avè m’ pou fè peche. M’ap fè yo soti kite peyi kote y’ap viv koulye a, men yo p’ap mete pwent pye yo nan peyi Izrayèl la. Lè sa a n’a konnen se mwen menm ki Seyè a.
39 Seyè sèl Mèt la di ankò: Koulye a, nou menm moun pèp Izrayèl yo, nou mèt al sèvi zidòl nou yo. Men, m’ tou pale nou. Apre sa, se pou n’ koute m’. N’a sispann derespekte non mwen ki yon non apa. N’a sispann fè ofrann pou zidòl nou yo.
40 Paske men sa mwen menm, Seyè a, m’ap di nou: Se sou mòn ki apa pou mwen an, gwo mòn wo peyi Izrayèl la, tout moun pèp Izrayèl la ki va tabli nan peyi a pral fè sèvis pou mwen. Se la m’a kontan resevwa ofrann nou yo. Se la mwen vle nou pote pi bon ofrann nou yo, pi bon kado n’ap ban mwen yo.
41 Lè m’a fè nou soti nan mitan lòt pèp yo, lè m’a ranmase nou nan tout peyi kote mwen te gaye nou yo, m’a kontan resevwa nou ansanm ak ofrann bèt n’ap boule pou mwen pou fè m’ plezi ak bon sant yo. N’a fè tout lòt nasyon yo konnen se yon Bondye apa mwen ye.
42 Lè m’a mennen nou tounen nan peyi Izrayèl, peyi mwen te fè sèman m’ap bay zansèt nou yo, n’a konnen se mwen menm ki Seyè a.
43 Lè sa a, n’a chonje tou sa nou te konn fè, jan nou te konn avili tèt nou nan fè move bagay. Nou pral wont tèt nou paske se pa ti fè nou te fè.
44 Lè sa a, n’a konnen se mwen menm ki Seyè a, paske sa m’ap fè pou nou an se pou respè tèt mwen m’ap fè l’. Se pa sa lenkondite nou ak vye bagay derespektan nou fè yo merite. Se mwen menm, Seyè sèl Mèt la, ki di sa.
45 Seyè a pale avè m’ ankò, li di konsa:
46 -Nonm o! Voye je gade nan direksyon sid la. Denonse sa y’ap fè bò la. Bay mesaj sa a pou gwo rakbwa ki nan zòn Negèv la.
47 W’a di rakbwa Negèv la: Koute sa Seyè a di. Men mesaj Seyè sèl Mèt la voye ba ou: Gade rakbwa! Mwen pral limen yon sèl dife ki pral boule dènye pyebwa ou genyen, kit yo vèt, kit yo chèch. Anyen p’ap ka touye dife sa a. L’ap gaye depi nan sid rive nan nò. Tout moun pral santi chalè dife a.
48 Tout moun pral wè se mwen menm, Seyè a, ki limen dife a. Anyen p’ap ka touye l’.
49 Lè sa a mwen di: -Aa! Seyè sèl Mèt mwen! Pa fè m’ di sa non! Moun deja ap plenyen se an daki ase m’ap pale!

1 La septième année, le dixième jour du cinquième mois, quelques-uns des anciens d’Israël vinrent pour consulter l’Éternel, et s’assirent devant moi.
2 Et la parole de l’Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:
3 Fils de l’homme, parle aux anciens d’Israël, et dis-leur: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Est-ce pour me consulter que vous êtes venus? Je suis vivant! je ne me laisserai pas consulter par vous, dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel.
4 Veux-tu les juger, veux-tu les juger, fils de l’homme? Fais-leur connaître les abominations de leurs pères!
5 Tu leur diras: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Le jour où j’ai choisi Israël, j’ai levé ma main vers la postérité de la maison de Jacob, et je me suis fait connaître à eux dans le pays d’Égypte; j’ai levé ma main vers eux, en disant: Je suis l’Éternel, votre Dieu.
6 En ce jour-là, j’ai levé ma main vers eux, pour les faire passer du pays d’Égypte dans un pays que j’avais cherché pour eux, pays où coulent le lait et le miel, le plus beau de tous les pays.
7 Je leur dis: Rejetez chacun les abominations qui attirent ses regards, et ne vous souillez pas par les idoles de l’Égypte! Je suis l’Éternel, votre Dieu.
8 Et ils se révoltèrent contre moi, et ils ne voulurent pas m’écouter. Aucun ne rejeta les abominations qui attiraient ses regards, et ils n’abandonnèrent point les idoles de l’Égypte. J’eus la pensée de répandre ma fureur sur eux, d’épuiser contre eux ma colère, au milieu du pays d’Égypte.
9 Néanmoins j’ai agi par égard pour mon nom, afin qu’il ne soit pas profané aux yeux des nations parmi lesquelles ils se trouvaient, et aux yeux desquelles je m’étais fait connaître à eux, pour les faire sortir du pays d’Égypte.
10 Et je les fis sortir du pays d’Égypte, et je les conduisis dans le désert.
11 Je leur donnai mes lois et leur fis connaître mes ordonnances, que l’homme doit mettre en pratique, afin de vivre par elles.
12 Je leur donnai aussi mes sabbats comme un signe entre moi et eux, pour qu’ils connussent que je suis l’Éternel qui les sanctifie.
13 Et la maison d’Israël se révolta contre moi dans le désert. Ils ne suivirent point mes lois, et ils rejetèrent mes ordonnances, que l’homme doit mettre en pratique, afin de vivre par elles, et ils profanèrent à l’excès mes sabbats. J’eus la pensée de répandre sur eux ma fureur dans le désert, pour les anéantir.
14 Néanmoins j’ai agi par égard pour mon nom, afin qu’il ne soit pas profané aux yeux des nations en présence desquelles je les avait fait sortir d’Égypte.
15 Dans le désert, je levai ma main vers eux, pour ne pas les conduire dans le pays que je leur avais destiné, pays où coulent le lait et le miel, le plus beau de tous les pays,
16 et cela parce qu’ils rejetèrent mes ordonnances et ne suivirent point mes lois, et parce qu’ils profanèrent mes sabbats, car leur coeur ne s’éloigna pas de leurs idoles.
17 Mais j’eus pour eux un regard de pitié et je ne les détruisis pas, je ne les exterminai pas dans le désert.
18 Je dis à leurs fils dans le désert: Ne suivez pas les préceptes de vos pères, n’observez pas leurs coutumes, et ne vous souillez pas par leurs idoles!
19 Je suis l’Éternel, votre Dieu. Suivez mes préceptes, observez mes ordonnances, et mettez-les en pratique.
20 Sanctifiez mes sabbats, et qu’ils soient entre moi et vous un signe auquel on connaisse que je suis l’Éternel, votre Dieu.
21 Et les fils se révoltèrent contre moi. Ils ne suivirent point mes préceptes, ils n’observèrent point et n’exécutèrent point mes ordonnances, que l’homme doit mettre en pratique, afin de vivre par elles, et ils profanèrent mes sabbats. J’eus la pensée de répandre sur eux ma fureur, d’épuiser contre eux ma colère dans le désert.
22 Néanmoins j’ai retiré ma main, et j’ai agi par égard pour mon nom, afin qu’il ne fût pas profané aux yeux des nations en présence desquelles je les avais fait sortir d’Égypte.
23 Dans le désert, je levai encore ma main vers eux, pour les disperser parmi les nations et les répandre en divers pays,
24 parce qu’ils ne mirent pas en pratique mes ordonnances, parce qu’ils rejetèrent mes préceptes, profanèrent mes sabbats, et tournèrent leurs yeux vers les idoles de leurs pères.
25 Je leur donnai aussi des préceptes qui n’étaient pas bons, et des ordonnances par lesquelles ils ne pouvaient vivre.
26 Je les souillai par leurs offrandes, quand ils faisaient passer par le feu tous leurs premiers-nés; je voulus ainsi les punir, et leur faire connaître que je suis l’Éternel.
27 C’est pourquoi parle à la maison d’Israël, fils de l’homme, et dis-leur: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Vos pères m’ont encore outragé, en se montrant infidèles à mon égard.
28 Je les ai conduits dans le pays que j’avais juré de leur donner, et ils ont jeté les yeux sur toute colline élevée et sur tout arbre touffu; là ils ont fait leurs sacrifices, ils ont présenté leurs offrandes qui m’irritaient, ils ont brûlé leurs parfums d’une agréable odeur, et ils ont répandu leurs libations.
29 Je leur dis: Qu’est-ce que ces hauts lieux où vous vous rendez? Et le nom de hauts lieux leur a été donné jusqu’à ce jour.
30 C’est pourquoi dis à la maison d’Israël: Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Ne vous souillez-vous pas à la manière de vos pères, et ne vous prostituez-vous pas à leurs abominations?
31 En présentant vos offrandes, en faisant passer vos enfants par le feu, vous vous souillez encore aujourd’hui par toutes vos idoles. Et moi, je me laisserais consulter par vous, maison d’Israël! Je suis vivant! dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel, je ne me laisserai pas consulter par vous.
32 On ne verra pas s’accomplir ce que vous imaginez, quand vous dites: Nous voulons être comme les nations, comme les familles des autres pays, nous voulons servir le bois et la pierre.
33 Je suis vivant! dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel, je régnerai sur vous, à main forte et à bras étendu, et en répandant ma fureur.
34 Je vous ferai sortir du milieu des peuples, et je vous rassemblerai des pays où vous êtes dispersés, à main forte et à bras étendu, et en répandant ma fureur.
35 Je vous amènerai dans le désert des peuples, et là je vous jugerai face à face.
36 Comme je suis entré en jugement avec vos pères dans le désert du pays d’Égypte, ainsi j’entrerai en jugement avec vous, dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel.
37 Je vous ferai passer sous la verge, et je vous mettrai dans les liens de l’alliance.
38 Je séparerai de vous les rebelles et ceux qui me sont infidèles; je les tirerai du pays où ils sont étrangers, mais ils n’iront pas au pays d’Israël. Et vous saurez que je suis l’Éternel.
39 Et vous, maison d’Israël, ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Allez chacun servir vos idoles! Mais après cela, vous m’écouterez, et vous ne profanerez plus mon saint nom par vos offrandes et par vos idoles.
40 Car sur ma montagne sainte, sur la haute montagne d’Israël, dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel, là toute la maison d’Israël, tous ceux qui seront dans le pays me serviront; là je les recevrai favorablement, je rechercherai vos offrandes, les prémices de vos dons, et tout ce que vous me consacrerez.
41 Je vous recevrai comme un parfum d’une agréable odeur, quand je vous aurai fait sortir du milieu des peuples, et rassemblés des pays où vous êtes dispersés; et je serai sanctifié par vous aux yeux des nations.
42 Et vous saurez que je suis l’Éternel, quand je vous ramènerai dans le pays d’Israël, dans le pays que j’avais juré de donner à vos pères.
43 Là vous vous souviendrez de votre conduite et de toutes vos actions par lesquelles vous vous êtes souillés; vous vous prendrez vous-mêmes en dégoût, à cause de toutes les infamies que vous avez commises.
44 Et vous saurez que je suis l’Éternel, quand j’agirai avec vous par égard pour mon nom, et nullement d’après votre conduite mauvaise et vos actions corrompues, ô maison d’Israël! dit le Seigneur, l’Éternel.
45 (21:1) La parole de l’Éternel me fut adressée, en ces mots:
46 (21:2) Fils de l’homme, tourne ta face vers le midi, Et parle contre le midi! Prophétise contre la forêt des champs du midi!
47 (21:3) Tu diras à la forêt du midi: Écoute la parole de l’Éternel! Ainsi parle le Seigneur, l’Éternel: Je vais allumer un feu au dedans de toi, Et il dévorera tout arbre vert et tout arbre sec; La flamme ardente ne s’éteindra point, Et tout visage en sera brûlé, Du midi au septentrion.
48 (21:4) Et toute chair verra Que moi, l’Éternel, je l’ai allumé. Il ne s’éteindra point.
49 (21:5) Je dis: Ah! Seigneur Éternel! Ils disent de moi: N’est-ce pas un faiseur de paraboles?

1 And it came to pass in the seventh year, in the fifth month, the tenth day of the month, that certain of the elders of Israel came to enquire of the Lord, and sat before me.
2 Then came the word of the Lord unto me, saying,
3 Son of man, speak unto the elders of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Are ye come to enquire of me? As I live, saith the Lord God, I will not be enquired of by you.
4 Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge them? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers:
5 And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; In the day when I chose Israel, and lifted up mine hand unto the seed of the house of Jacob, and made myself known unto them in the land of Egypt, when I lifted up mine hand unto them, saying, I am the Lord your God;
6 In the day that I lifted up mine hand unto them, to bring them forth of the land of Egypt into a land that I had espied for them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands:
7 Then said I unto them, Cast ye away every man the abominations of his eyes, and defile not yourselves with the idols of Egypt: I am the Lord your God.
8 But they rebelled against me, and would not hearken unto me: they did not every man cast away the abominations of their eyes, neither did they forsake the idols of Egypt: then I said, I will pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
9 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, among whom they were, in whose sight I made myself known unto them, in bringing them forth out of the land of Egypt.
10 Wherefore I caused them to go forth out of the land of Egypt, and brought them into the wilderness.
11 And I gave them my statutes, and shewed them my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them.
12 Moreover also I gave them my sabbaths, to be a sign between me and them, that they might know that I am the Lord that sanctify them.
13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they despised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.
14 But I wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted before the heathen, in whose sight I brought them out.
15 Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given them, flowing with milk and honey, which is the glory of all lands;
16 Because they despised my judgments, and walked not in my statutes, but polluted my sabbaths: for their heart went after their idols.
17 Nevertheless mine eye spared them from destroying them, neither did I make an end of them in the wilderness.
18 But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols:
19 I am the Lord your God; walk in my statutes, and keep my judgments, and do them;
20 And hallow my sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between me and you, that ye may know that I am the Lord your God.
21 Notwithstanding the children rebelled against me: they walked not in my statutes, neither kept my judgments to do them, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; they polluted my sabbaths: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them, to accomplish my anger against them in the wilderness.
22 Nevertheless I withdrew mine hand, and wrought for my name’s sake, that it should not be polluted in the sight of the heathen, in whose sight I brought them forth.
23 I lifted up mine hand unto them also in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the heathen, and disperse them through the countries;
24 Because they had not executed my judgments, but had despised my statutes, and had polluted my sabbaths, and their eyes were after their fathers’ idols.
25 Wherefore I gave them also statutes that were not good, and judgments whereby they should not live;
26 And I polluted them in their own gifts, in that they caused to pass through the fire all that openeth the womb, that I might make them desolate, to the end that they might know that I am the Lord.
27 Therefore, son of man, speak unto the house of Israel, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Yet in this your fathers have blasphemed me, in that they have committed a trespass against me.
28 For when I had brought them into the land, for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to them, then they saw every high hill, and all the thick trees, and they offered there their sacrifices, and there they presented the provocation of their offering: there also they made their sweet savour, and poured out there their drink offerings.
29 Then I said unto them, What is the high place whereunto ye go? And the name whereof is called Bamah unto this day.
30 Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord God; Are ye polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit ye whoredom after their abominations?
31 For when ye offer your gifts, when ye make your sons to pass through the fire, ye pollute yourselves with all your idols, even unto this day: and shall I be enquired of by you, O house of Israel? As I live, saith the Lord God, I will not be enquired of by you.
32 And that which cometh into your mind shall not be at all, that ye say, We will be as the heathen, as the families of the countries, to serve wood and stone.
33 As I live, saith the Lord God, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you:
34 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.
35 And I will bring you into the wilderness of the people, and there will I plead with you face to face.
36 Like as I pleaded with your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so will I plead with you, saith the Lord God.
37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I will bring you into the bond of the covenant:
38 And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I am the Lord.
39 As for you, O house of Israel, thus saith the Lord God; Go ye, serve ye every one his idols, and hereafter also, if ye will not hearken unto me: but pollute ye my holy name no more with your gifts, and with your idols.
40 For in mine holy mountain, in the mountain of the height of Israel, saith the Lord God, there shall all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, serve me: there will I accept them, and there will I require your offerings, and the firstfruits of your oblations, with all your holy things.
41 I will accept you with your sweet savour, when I bring you out from the people, and gather you out of the countries wherein ye have been scattered; and I will be sanctified in you before the heathen.
42 And ye shall know that I am the Lord, when I shall bring you into the land of Israel, into the country for the which I lifted up mine hand to give it to your fathers.
43 And there shall ye remember your ways, and all your doings, wherein ye have been defiled; and ye shall lothe yourselves in your own sight for all your evils that ye have committed.
44 And ye shall know that I am the Lord when I have wrought with you for my name’s sake, not according to your wicked ways, nor according to your corrupt doings, O ye house of Israel, saith the Lord God.
45 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying,
46 Son of man, set thy face toward the south, and drop thy word toward the south, and prophesy against the forest of the south field;
47 And say to the forest of the south, Hear the word of the Lord; Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will kindle a fire in thee, and it shall devour every green tree in thee, and every dry tree: the flaming flame shall not be quenched, and all faces from the south to the north shall be burned therein.
48 And all flesh shall see that I the Lord have kindled it: it shall not be quenched.
49 Then said I, Ah Lord God! they say of me, Doth he not speak parables?
