1 Moun ki rete nan dezè Zif yo al jwenn Sayil lavil Gibeya, yo di l’: -Men David kache sou ti mòn Akila a, sou limit dezè peyi Jida a.
2 Sayil pati lamenm avèk twamil (3000) sòlda nan pi bon sòlda peyi Izrayèl la. Li desann nan dezè Zif la al dèyè David.
3 Li moute kan li sou ti mòn Akila a, toupre wout la, sou limit dezè a. David menm te nan dezè a toujou. Lè li vin konnen Sayil te vin dèyè l’ nan dezè a,
4 li voye kèk espyon. Yo vin di l’ Sayil te desann vre nan dezè a.
5 David leve, li pati pou kote Sayil te moute kan lame li a. Li gade pozisyon kote Sayil ak kòmandan lame li a, Abnè, pitit gason Nè a, te kouche. Sayil te kouche nan mitan, tout sòlda yo te kouche bò kote l’.
6 David pale ak Akimelèk, moun peyi Et la, ak Abichayi, frè Joab, pitit gason Sewouya a, li di yo: -Kilès nan nou de a ki ta vle desann avè m’ nan kan Sayil la? Abichayi reponn: -M’ap desann avè ou.
7 Se konsa, jou sa a, nan mitan lannwit, David ak Abichayi rive nan kan an. Yo wè Sayil kouche ap dòmi nan mitan kan an, frenn li te plante nan tè a bò tèt li. Abnè ak tout rès sòlda yo te kouche bò kote l’ ap dòmi tou.
8 Abichayi di David konsa: -Aswè a Seyè a lage lènmi ou lan nan men ou vre. Koulye a, kite m’ kloure l’ atè a ak pwòp frenn li a. Yon sèl kou ap ase. Mwen p’ap bezwen frape l’ de fwa.
9 Men, David di Abichayi konsa: -Pa leve men sou li. Seyè a p’ap manke pini moun ki va leve men l’ sou wa li menm li te chwazi a.
10 Apre sa, David di: -Mwen fè sèman devan Seyè ki vivan an, se Seyè a menm ki pou touye l’. L’a mouri lè lè pou l’ mouri a va rive, osinon l’a mouri nan lagè.
11 Mande Bondye padon non! Mwen p’ap leve men m’ sou wa Seyè a te chwazi a. Ann pran frenn li a ak krich dlo ki bò tèt li a. Epi ann ale.
12 David pran frenn lan ak krich dlo ki te bò tèt Sayil la, epi yo ale. Pesonn pa t’ wè sa, pesonn pa t’ konnen sa ki te rive. Pesonn pa t’ leve nan dòmi an. Yo te dòmi nèt ale, paske Seyè a te fè yon gwo dòmi pran yo.
13 Lè sa a, David janbe lòt bò fon an, li kanpe sou tèt ti mòn lan, byen lwen ak yon bèl distans nan mitan li ak lame a.
14 Li pran rele sòlda yo ak Abnè, pitit gason Nè a, li di yo konsa: -Abnè o! Eske ou tande mwen? Abnè reponn: -Kilès k’ap rele nan zòrèy wa a konsa?
15 David di li: -Se pa gason ou ye? Ki moun ki ka koresponn avè ou nan peyi Izrayèl la? Poukisa ou pa pwoteje wa a, mèt ou, pi byen? Talè a, gen yon moun ki antre nan kan an ak lide pou l’ te touye wa a.
16 Li pa bon non sa ou fè a. Ou manke sou travay ou, Abnè. Mwen fè sèman devan Bondye ki vivan an, nou tout nou merite yo touye nou. Paske nou pa pwoteje mèt nou, wa Seyè a te chwazi a! Gade non! Kote frenn wa a? Kote krich dlo ki te bò tèt li a?
17 Sayil rekonèt vwa David, li di: -David, pitit mwen, se ou menm pa vre? David di li: -Se mwen wi, monwa!
18 Apre sa, li di ankò: -Chèmèt mwen, poukisa w’ap pousib mwen konsa, mwen menm k’ap sèvi ou la? Kisa m’ fè? Ki krim mwen fè?
19 Koulye a, monwa, tanpri koute sa m’ap di ou. Si se Seyè a ki moute tèt ou kont mwen, al fè yon ofrann ba li pou li ka chanje lide l’. Men, si se moun k’ap fè ou fè sa, se pou madichon Seyè a tonbe sou yo! Koulye a, yo mete m’ deyò nan peyi a pou m’ pèdi pòsyon pa m’ nan tè Seyè a te bay pèp li a, yo voye m’ al sèvi lòt bondye.
20 Pa kite yo touye m’ nan peyi etranje byen lwen Seyè a! Poukisa pou wa Izrayèl la leve tout lame a pou l’ chache touye yon ti pis tankou m’? Poukisa pou l’ ap kouri dèyè m’ nan tout mòn yo tankou lè moun ap fè lachas ranmye!
21 Sayil reponn: -Sa m’ fè a mal. Tounen non, David, pitit mwen. Mwen p’ap janm chache fè ou mal paske ou refize touye m’ aswè a ankò. Wi, mwen te aji tankou moun fou, mwen te fè yon bagay ki pa bon menm.
22 David reponn li: -Monwa, men frenn ou an. Fè yonn nan moun ou yo janbe vin chache l’.
23 Seyè a va bay chak moun sa yo merite, dapre jan yo mache devan li, dapre jan yo kenbe pwomès yo. Jòdi a, li te lage ou nan men m’. Men, mwen pa fè ou anyen, mwen pa leve men m’ sou wa Seyè a te chwazi a.
24 Menm jan mwen te gen respè pou ou jòdi a, m’ pa touye ou, mwen mande Seyè a pou l’ fè menm bagay la pou mwen tou, lèfini pou l’ wete m’ nan tout tèt chaje sa yo.
25 Sayil di David: -Se pou Bondye beni ou, pitit gason mwen! Se pou tou sa w’ap fè mache byen! Apre sa, David al fè wout li, Sayil menm tounen lakay li.

1 Les Ziphiens allèrent auprès de Saül à Guibea, et dirent: David n’est-il pas caché sur la colline de Hakila, en face du désert?
2 Saül se leva et descendit au désert de Ziph, avec trois mille hommes de l’élite d’Israël, pour chercher David dans le désert de Ziph.
3 Il campa sur la colline de Hakila, en face du désert, près du chemin. David était dans le désert; et s’étant aperçu que Saül marchait à sa poursuite au désert,
4 il envoya des espions, et apprit avec certitude que Saül était arrivé.
5 Alors David se leva et vint au lieu où Saül était campé, et il vit la place où couchait Saül, avec Abner, fils de Ner, chef de son armée. Saül couchait au milieu du camp, et le peuple campait autour de lui.
6 David prit la parole, et s’adressant à Achimélec, Héthien, et à Abischaï, fils de Tseruja et frère de Joab, il dit: Qui veut descendre avec moi dans le camp vers Saül? Et Abischaï répondit: Moi, je descendrai avec toi.
7 David et Abischaï allèrent de nuit vers le peuple. Et voici, Saül était couché et dormait au milieu du camp, et sa lance était fixée en terre à son chevet. Abner et le peuple étaient couchés autour de lui.
8 Abischaï dit à David: Dieu livre aujourd’hui ton ennemi entre tes mains; laisse-moi, je te prie, le frapper de ma lance et le clouer en terre d’un seul coup, pour que je n’aie pas à y revenir.
9 Mais David dit à Abischaï: Ne le détruis pas! car qui pourrait impunément porter la main sur l’oint de l’Éternel?
10 Et David dit: L’Éternel est vivant! c’est à l’Éternel seul à le frapper, soit que son jour vienne et qu’il meure, soit qu’il descende sur un champ de bataille et qu’il y périsse.
11 Loin de moi, par l’Éternel! de porter la main sur l’oint de l’Éternel! Prends seulement la lance qui est à son chevet, avec la cruche d’eau, et allons-nous-en.
12 David prit donc la lance et la cruche d’eau qui étaient au chevet de Saül; et ils s’en allèrent. Personne ne les vit ni ne s’aperçut de rien, et personne ne se réveilla, car ils dormaient tous d’un profond sommeil dans lequel l’Éternel les avait plongés.
13 David passa de l’autre côté, et s’arrêta au loin sur le sommet de la montagne, à une grande distance du camp.
14 Et il cria au peuple et à Abner, fils de Ner: Ne répondras-tu pas, Abner? Abner répondit: Qui es-tu, toi qui pousses des cris vers le roi?
15 Et David dit à Abner: N’es-tu pas un homme? et qui est ton pareil en Israël? Pourquoi donc n’as-tu pas gardé le roi, ton maître? Car quelqu’un du peuple est venu pour tuer le roi, ton maître.
16 Ce que tu as fait là n’est pas bien. L’Éternel est vivant! vous méritez la mort, pour n’avoir pas veillé sur votre maître, sur l’oint de l’Éternel. Regarde maintenant où sont la lance du roi et la cruche d’eau, qui étaient à son chevet!
17 Saül reconnut la voix de David, et dit: Est-ce bien ta voix, mon fils David? Et David répondit: C’est ma voix, ô roi, mon seigneur!
18 Et il dit: Pourquoi mon seigneur poursuit-il son serviteur? Qu’ai-je fait, et de quoi suis-je coupable?
19 Que le roi, mon seigneur, daigne maintenant écouter les paroles de son serviteur: si c’est l’Éternel qui t’excite contre moi, qu’il agrée le parfum d’une offrande; mais si ce sont des hommes, qu’ils soient maudits devant l’Éternel, puisqu’ils me chassent aujourd’hui pour me détacher de l’héritage de l’Éternel, et qu’ils me disent: Va servir des dieux étrangers!
20 Oh! que mon sang ne tombe pas en terre loin de la face de l’Éternel! Car le roi d’Israël s’est mis en marche pour chercher une puce, comme on chasserait une perdrix dans les montagnes.
21 Saül dit: J’ai péché; reviens, mon fils David, car je ne te ferai plus de mal, puisqu’en ce jour ma vie a été précieuse à tes yeux. J’ai agi comme un insensé, et j’ai fait une grande faute.
22 David répondit: Voici la lance du roi; que l’un de tes gens vienne la prendre.
23 L’Éternel rendra à chacun selon sa justice et sa fidélité; car l’Éternel t’avait livré aujourd’hui entre mes mains, et je n’ai pas voulu porter la main sur l’oint de l’Éternel.
24 Et comme aujourd’hui ta vie a été d’un grand prix à mes yeux, ainsi ma vie sera d’un grand prix aux yeux de l’Éternel et il me délivrera de toute angoisse.
25 Saül dit à David: Sois béni, mon fils David! tu réussiras dans tes entreprises. David continua son chemin, et Saül retourna chez lui.

1 And the Ziphites came unto Saul to Gibeah, saying, Doth not David hide himself in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon?
2 Then Saul arose, and went down to the wilderness of Ziph, having three thousand chosen men of Israel with him, to seek David in the wilderness of Ziph.
3 And Saul pitched in the hill of Hachilah, which is before Jeshimon, by the way. But David abode in the wilderness, and he saw that Saul came after him into the wilderness.
4 David therefore sent out spies, and understood that Saul was come in very deed.
5 And David arose, and came to the place where Saul had pitched: and David beheld the place where Saul lay, and Abner the son of Ner, the captain of his host: and Saul lay in the trench, and the people pitched round about him.
6 Then answered David and said to Ahimelech the Hittite, and to Abishai the son of Zeruiah, brother to Joab, saying, Who will go down with me to Saul to the camp? And Abishai said, I will go down with thee.
7 So David and Abishai came to the people by night: and, behold, Saul lay sleeping within the trench, and his spear stuck in the ground at his bolster: but Abner and the people lay round about him.
8 Then said Abishai to David, God hath delivered thine enemy into thine hand this day: now therefore let me smite him, I pray thee, with the spear even to the earth at once, and I will not smite him the second time.
9 And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the Lord‘s anointed, and be guiltless?
10 David said furthermore, As the Lord liveth, the Lord shall smite him; or his day shall come to die; or he shall descend into battle, and perish.
11 The Lord forbid that I should stretch forth mine hand against the Lord‘s anointed: but, I pray thee, take thou now the spear that is at his bolster, and the cruse of water, and let us go.
12 So David took the spear and the cruse of water from Saul’s bolster; and they gat them away, and no man saw it, nor knew it, neither awaked: for they were all asleep; because a deep sleep from the Lord was fallen upon them.
13 Then David went over to the other side, and stood on the top of an hill afar off; a great space being between them:
14 And David cried to the people, and to Abner the son of Ner, saying, Answerest thou not, Abner? Then Abner answered and said, Who art thou that criest to the king?
15 And David said to Abner, Art not thou a valiant man? and who is like to thee in Israel? wherefore then hast thou not kept thy lord the king? for there came one of the people in to destroy the king thy lord.
16 This thing is not good that thou hast done. As the Lord liveth, ye are worthy to die, because ye have not kept your master, the Lord‘s anointed. And now see where the king’s spear is, and the cruse of water that was at his bolster.
17 And Saul knew David’s voice, and said, Is this thy voice, my son David? And David said, It is my voice, my lord, O king.
18 And he said, Wherefore doth my lord thus pursue after his servant? for what have I done? or what evil is in mine hand?
19 Now therefore, I pray thee, let my lord the king hear the words of his servant. If the Lord have stirred thee up against me, let him accept an offering: but if they be the children of men, cursed be they before the Lord; for they have driven me out this day from abiding in the inheritance of the Lord, saying, Go, serve other gods.
20 Now therefore, let not my blood fall to the earth before the face of the Lord: for the king of Israel is come out to seek a flea, as when one doth hunt a partridge in the mountains.
21 Then said Saul, I have sinned: return, my son David: for I will no more do thee harm, because my soul was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly.
22 And David answered and said, Behold the king’s spear! and let one of the young men come over and fetch it.
23 The Lord render to every man his righteousness and his faithfulness; for the Lord delivered thee into my hand to day, but I would not stretch forth mine hand against the Lord‘s anointed.
24 And, behold, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of the Lord, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation.
25 Then Saul said to David, Blessed be thou, my son David: thou shalt both do great things, and also shalt still prevail. So David went on his way, and Saul returned to his place.
