1 Apre sa, Achitofèl di Absalon konsa: -Kite m’ chwazi douzmil (12.000) sòlda. M’ap pati aswè a menm dèyè David.
2 M’ap pwofite antan li tou bouke, tou dekouraje a, m’ap atake l’, m’ap fè l’ pè. Lè sa a, tout moun ki avè l’ yo va kraze rak. Se wa a ase m’ap touye.
3 Lèfini, m’ap mennen tout lòt moun yo vin jwenn ou, menm jan yon madan marye tounen vin jwenn mari l’. Se yon sèl moun ou vle yo touye, pa vre. Apre sa, repo pou tout moun.
4 Koze a te fè Absalon ak tout chèf moun Izrayèl yo plezi.
5 Absalon di konsa: -Rele Ouchayi, moun peyi Ak la. Ann tande sa li gen pou l’ di nou.
6 Lè Ouchayi rive, Absalon di l’ konsa: -Men konsèy Achitofèl ban nou. Eske se pou nou fè sa li di nou fè a? Si ou pa dakò, di nou sa pou nou fè.
7 Ouchayi reponn li: -Fwa sa a, konsèy Achitofèl bay la pa bon menm.
8 Ou konnen jan papa ou ak moun pa li yo vanyan gason? Koulye a, yo move tankou yon manman lous ki pèdi pitit li. Papa ou se yon sòlda ki gen anpil esperyans nan fè lagè. Li p’ap janm rete pase lannwit menm kote ak moun li yo.
9 Koulye a li dwe kache nan yon gwòt osinon yon lòt kote. Premye atak David va fè sou moun ou yo, moun pral konn sa, y’a di: David bat patizan Absalon yo.
10 Lè sa a, menm sòlda ki pi vanyan yo, sa ki tankou lyon, ki pa pè anyen yo, pral pèdi kouraj, paske tout moun peyi Izrayèl yo konnen jan papa ou se sòlda ki konn goumen, jan moun pa l’ yo se brave danje.
11 Men konsèy mwen menm m’ap bay: Fè sanble dènye gason nan tout peyi Izrayèl la, depi lavil Dann jouk lavil Bècheba, pou yo tankou grenn sab bò lanmè. Lèfini, ou menm w’a mache alatèt yo.
12 Nenpòt kote David ye, n’a tonbe sou li tankou lawouze sou fèy bwa, n’a atake l’ anvan menm li konnen sa k’ap rive l’. Nou p’ap kite pesonn chape, ni li, ni yonn nan moun pa l’ yo.
13 Si li al kache kò l’ nan yon lavil, tout moun Izrayèl yo va pran kòd, y’a mare lavil la, y’a trennen l’ al jete anba nan fon an. Yo pa t’ kite yon grenn wòch sou tèt mòn kote lavil la te ye a.
14 Absalon ak tout moun peyi Izrayèl yo di: -Konsèy Ouchayi, moun Ak la, pi bon pase pa Achitofèl la. Sa te pase konsa, paske Seyè a te deside pou li pa t’ kite yo swiv konsèy Achitofèl la pou malè te ka tonbe sou Absalon.

23 Lè Achitofèl wè yo pa t’ soti pou swiv konsèy li te bay la, li sele bourik li, li tounen lakay li nan peyi l’. Lè li fin regle tout zafè l’, li pann tèt li. Se konsa li mouri. Apre sa, yo antere l’ nan kavo papa l’.
24 Lè Absalon ansanm ak moun li yo rive pou yo janbe lòt bò larivyè Jouden an, David te gen tan rive lavil Manayim.
25 Absalon te chwazi Amasa pou kòmande lame a nan plas Joab. Amasa sa a te pitit gason Jitra, yon moun fanmi Izmayèl. Manman l’ te rele Abigal, pitit fi Nach, sè Sewouya, manman Joab.
26 Absalon ak moun peyi Izrayèl yo moute tant yo nan peyi Galarad.
27 Lè David rive lavil Manayim, gen twa moun ki vin jwenn li. Se te Choni, pitit gason Nach, moun lavil Raba, kapital peyi Amon an, Maki, pitit gason Amyèl, moun lavil Lodeba, ak Bazilayi, moun lavil Wogelim nan peyi Galarad.
28 Twa mesye sa yo te pote bagay pou moun kouche, bòl, kaswòl ak manje pou David ak moun pa l’ yo. Te gen ble, lòj, farin, grenn griye, ti pwa ak gwo pwa tout kalite,
29 siwo myèl, bè, fwomaj lèt bèf, fwomaj lèt mouton. Yonn te di lòt: -Apre tout mache sa a nan dezè a, moun sa yo dwe grangou, yo dwe swaf, yo dwe bouke kont kò yo.

1 Achitophel dit à Absalom: Laisse-moi choisir douze mille hommes! Je me lèverai, et je poursuivrai David cette nuit même.
2 Je le surprendrai pendant qu’il est fatigué et que ses mains sont affaiblies, je l’épouvanterai, et tout le peuple qui est avec lui s’enfuira. Je frapperai le roi seul,
3 et je ramènerai à toi tout le peuple; la mort de l’homme à qui tu en veux assurera le retour de tous, et tout le peuple sera en paix.
4 Cette parole plut à Absalom et à tous les anciens d’Israël.
5 Cependant Absalom dit: Appelez encore Huschaï, l’Arkien, et que nous entendions aussi ce qu’il dira.
6 Huschaï vint auprès d’Absalom, et Absalom lui dit: Voici comment a parlé Achitophel: devons-nous faire ce qu’il a dit, ou non? Parle, toi!
7 Huschaï répondit à Absalom: Pour cette fois le conseil qu’a donné Achitophel n’est pas bon.
8 Et Huschaï dit: Tu connais la bravoure de ton père et de ses gens, ils sont furieux comme le serait dans les champs une ourse à qui l’on aurait enlevé ses petits. Ton père est un homme de guerre, et il ne passera pas la nuit avec le peuple;
9 voici maintenant, il est caché dans quelque fosse ou dans quelque autre lieu. Et si, dès le commencement, il en est qui tombent sous leurs coups, on ne tardera pas à l’apprendre et l’on dira: Il y a une défaite parmi le peuple qui suit Absalom!
10 Alors le plus vaillant, eût-il un coeur de lion, sera saisi d’épouvante; car tout Israël sait que ton père est un héros et qu’il a des braves avec lui.
11 Je conseille donc que tout Israël se rassemble auprès de toi, depuis Dan jusqu’à Beer Schéba, multitude pareille au sable qui est sur le bord de la mer. Tu marcheras en personne au combat.
12 Nous arriverons à lui en quelque lieu que nous le trouvions, et nous tomberons sur lui comme la rosée tombe sur le sol; et pas un n’échappera, ni lui ni aucun des hommes qui sont avec lui.
13 S’il se retire dans une ville, tout Israël portera des cordes vers cette ville, et nous la traînerons au torrent, jusqu’à ce qu’on n’en trouve plus une pierre.
14 Absalom et tous les gens d’Israël dirent: Le conseil de Huschaï, l’Arkien, vaut mieux que le conseil d’Achitophel. Or l’Éternel avait résolu d’anéantir le bon conseil d’Achitophel, afin d’amener le malheur sur Absalom.
15 Huschaï dit aux sacrificateurs Tsadok et Abiathar: Achitophel a donné tel et tel conseil à Absalom et aux anciens d’Israël; et moi, j’ai conseillé telle et telle chose.
16 Maintenant, envoyez tout de suite informer David et faites-lui dire: Ne passe point la nuit dans les plaines du désert, mais va plus loin, de peur que le roi et tout le peuple qui est avec lui ne soient exposés à périr.
17 Jonathan et Achimaats se tenaient à En Roguel. Une servante vint leur dire d’aller informer le roi David; car ils n’osaient pas se montrer et entrer dans la ville.
18 Un jeune homme les aperçut, et le rapporta à Absalom. Mais ils partirent tous deux en hâte, et ils arrivèrent à Bachurim à la maison d’un homme qui avait un puits dans sa cour, et ils y descendirent.
19 La femme prit une couverture qu’elle étendit sur l’ouverture du puits, et elle y répandit du grain pilé pour qu’on ne se doutât de rien.
20 Les serviteurs d’Absalom entrèrent dans la maison auprès de cette femme, et dirent: Où sont Achimaats et Jonathan? La femme leur répondit: Ils ont passé le ruisseau. Ils cherchèrent, et ne les trouvant pas, ils retournèrent à Jérusalem.
21 Après leur départ, Achimaats et Jonathan remontèrent du puits et allèrent informer le roi David. Ils dirent à David: Levez-vous et hâtez-vous de passer l’eau, car Achitophel a conseillé contre vous telle chose.
22 David et tout le peuple qui était avec lui se levèrent et ils passèrent le Jourdain; à la lumière du matin, il n’y en avait pas un qui fût resté à l’écart, pas un qui n’eût passé le Jourdain.
23 Achitophel, voyant que son conseil n’était pas suivi, sella son âne et partit pour s’en aller chez lui dans sa ville. Il donna ses ordres à sa maison, et il s’étrangla. C’est ainsi qu’il mourut, et on l’enterra dans le sépulcre de son père.
24 David arriva à Mahanaïm. Et Absalom passa le Jourdain, lui et tous les hommes d’Israël avec lui.
25 Absalom mit Amasa à la tête de l’armée, en remplacement de Joab; Amasa était fils d’un homme appelé Jithra, l’Israélite, qui était allé vers Abigal, fille de Nachasch et soeur de Tseruja, mère de Joab.
26 Israël et Absalom campèrent dans le pays de Galaad.
27 Lorsque David fut arrivé à Mahanaïm, Schobi, fils de Nachasch, de Rabba des fils d’Ammon, Makir, fils d’Ammiel, de Lodebar, et Barzillaï, le Galaadite, de Roguelim,
28 apportèrent des lits, des bassins, des vases de terre, du froment, de l’orge, de la farine, du grain rôti, des fèves, des lentilles, des pois rôtis,
29 du miel, de la crème, des brebis, et des fromages de vache. Ils apportèrent ces choses à David et au peuple qui était avec lui, afin qu’ils mangeassent; car ils disaient: Ce peuple a dû souffrir de la faim, de la fatigue et de la soif, dans le désert.

1 Moreover Ahithophel said unto Absalom, Let me now choose out twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue after David this night:
2 And I will come upon him while he is weary and weak handed, and will make him afraid: and all the people that are with him shall flee; and I will smite the king only:
3 And I will bring back all the people unto thee: the man whom thou seekest is as if all returned: so all the people shall be in peace.
4 And the saying pleased Absalom well, and all the elders of Israel.
5 Then said Absalom, Call now Hushai the Archite also, and let us hear likewise what he saith.
6 And when Hushai was come to Absalom, Absalom spake unto him, saying, Ahithophel hath spoken after this manner: shall we do after his saying? if not; speak thou.
7 And Hushai said unto Absalom, The counsel that Ahithophel hath given is not good at this time.
8 For, said Hushai, thou knowest thy father and his men, that they be mighty men, and they be chafed in their minds, as a bear robbed of her whelps in the field: and thy father is a man of war, and will not lodge with the people.
9 Behold, he is hid now in some pit, or in some other place: and it will come to pass, when some of them be overthrown at the first, that whosoever heareth it will say, There is a slaughter among the people that follow Absalom.
10 And he also that is valiant, whose heart is as the heart of a lion, shall utterly melt: for all Israel knoweth that thy father is a mighty man, and they which be with him are valiant men.
11 Therefore I counsel that all Israel be generally gathered unto thee, from Dan even to Beersheba, as the sand that is by the sea for multitude; and that thou go to battle in thine own person.
12 So shall we come upon him in some place where he shall be found, and we will light upon him as the dew falleth on the ground: and of him and of all the men that are with him there shall not be left so much as one.
13 Moreover, if he be gotten into a city, then shall all Israel bring ropes to that city, and we will draw it into the river, until there be not one small stone found there.
14 And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel. For the Lord had appointed to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, to the intent that the Lord might bring evil upon Absalom.
15 Then said Hushai unto Zadok and to Abiathar the priests, Thus and thus did Ahithophel counsel Absalom and the elders of Israel; and thus and thus have I counselled.
16 Now therefore send quickly, and tell David, saying, Lodge not this night in the plains of the wilderness, but speedily pass over; lest the king be swallowed up, and all the people that are with him.
17 Now Jonathan and Ahimaaz stayed by Enrogel; for they might not be seen to come into the city: and a wench went and told them; and they went and told king David.
18 Nevertheless a lad saw them, and told Absalom: but they went both of them away quickly, and came to a man’s house in Bahurim, which had a well in his court; whither they went down.
19 And the woman took and spread a covering over the well’s mouth, and spread ground corn thereon; and the thing was not known.
20 And when Absalom’s servants came to the woman to the house, they said, Where is Ahimaaz and Jonathan? And the woman said unto them, They be gone over the brook of water. And when they had sought and could not find them, they returned to Jerusalem.
21 And it came to pass, after they were departed, that they came up out of the well, and went and told king David, and said unto David, Arise, and pass quickly over the water: for thus hath Ahithophel counselled against you.
22 Then David arose, and all the people that were with him, and they passed over Jordan: by the morning light there lacked not one of them that was not gone over Jordan.
23 And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and gat him home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died, and was buried in the sepulchre of his father.
24 Then David came to Mahanaim. And Absalom passed over Jordan, he and all the men of Israel with him.
25 And Absalom made Amasa captain of the host instead of Joab: which Amasa was a man’s son, whose name was Ithra an Israelite, that went in to Abigail the daughter of Nahash, sister to Zeruiah Joab’s mother.
26 So Israel and Absalom pitched in the land of Gilead.
27 And it came to pass, when David was come to Mahanaim, that Shobi the son of Nahash of Rabbah of the children of Ammon, and Machir the son of Ammiel of Lodebar, and Barzillai the Gileadite of Rogelim,
28 Brought beds, and basons, and earthen vessels, and wheat, and barley, and flour, and parched corn, and beans, and lentiles, and parched pulse,
29 And honey, and butter, and sheep, and cheese of kine, for David, and for the people that were with him, to eat: for they said, The people is hungry, and weary, and thirsty, in the wilderness.
