Pwovèb 30
1 Men pawòl Agou, pitit Jake, moun peyi Masa. Men deklarasyon nonm lan te fè: Mwen bouke, Bondye! Mwen bouke, Bondye! Mwen pa kapab ankò!
2 Mwen sòt pase panyen pèsi. Se pa moun mwen ye. Mwen pa gen lespri tankou tout moun.
3 Mwen pa janm konnen sa ki rele konesans. Mwen pa konprann anyen nan bagay Bondye.
4 Ki moun ki janm moute nan syèl, apre sa ki redesann sou latè? Ki moun ki janm ranmase van yo nan men l’? Ki moun ki janm mare dlo yo nan rad li? Ki moun ki fikse limit tè a? Ki jan li rele? Ki jan pitit li rele? Di m’ non, si ou konnen?
5 Bondye toujou kenbe pawòl li. Li pwoteje tout moun ki mete konfyans yo nan li.
6 Pa fè l’ di sa li pa di. Si ou fè sa, l’a fè ou repwòch, l’a fè tout moun wè se mantò ou ye.
7 Bondye, se de bagay ase mwen mande ou: Tanpri, pa refize m’ yo anvan mwen mouri.
8 Men yo: Pa kite m’ bay manti pou m’ twonpe moun. Pa fè m’ ni rich ni pòv. Ban m’ kantite manje mwen bezwen pou m’ viv la.
9 Si mwen gen twòp, m’a vire do ba ou, m’a di mwen pa konnen ki moun ou ye. Si mwen pa gen ase, m’a vòlò, m’a fè yo pase ou nan betiz.
10 Pa janm pale yon domestik mal devan mèt li. L’a madichonnen ou, l’a fè ou peye bouch ou.
11 Gen yon kalite moun k’ap bay papa yo madichon, ki pa gen konsiderasyon pou manman yo.
12 Gen yon lòt kalite moun ki konprann yo nan kondisyon pou fè sèvis Bondye. Men, pi mal pase yo nanpwen.
13 Gen yon lòt kalite moun ankò ki mete nan tèt yo yo pa kanmarad pesonn, wa pa kouzen yo.
14 Gen yon lòt kalite moun, se bèt nan bwa yo ye. Pou yo viv, y’ap devore malere yo, y’ap pwofite sou pòv yo.
15 Sansi gen de pitit fi: tou de gen menm non, yo rele: Ban mwen! Ban mwen! Gen twa bagay ki pa janm di ase. Sa m’ap di la a! Gen kat bagay ki pa janm di se kont.
16 Men yo: Se peyi kote mò yo ye a, se fanm ki pa ka fè pitit, se tè a ki pa janm bwè kont dlo li, epi se dife. Bagay sa yo pa janm di ase.
17 Yon pitit ki pase papa l’ nan betiz, ki pa respekte lòd manman l’, chen gen pou devore kadav li nan raje, zwezo nan bwa va manje grenn je li.
18 Gen twa bagay mwen pa janm ka konprann. Sa m’ap di la a! Gen kat bagay konsa.
19 Men yo: Se jan malfini plane nan syèl la, se jan koulèv mache sou wòch, se jan bato kouri sou lanmè, se jan gason ak fanm rive fè lamou.
20 Men ki jan fanm k’ap twonpe mari yo fè: Lè yo fin fè sa y’ap fè a, yo benyen byen pwòp, epi yo di: Mwen pa fè anyen ki mal.
21 Gen twa bagay ki fè latè tranble. Sa m’ap di la a! Gen kat bagay moun pa ka sipòte.
22 Men yo: Se yon esklav ki rive chèf, se yon moun sòt ki gen tou sa li bezwen,
23 se yon fanm ki pa t’ janm jwenn moun renmen l’ epi ki resi mare yon nòs, se yon sèvant ki pran plas metrès li.
24 Gen kat ti bèt sou latè, gen lespri pase yo nanpwen:
25 Se foumi: yo tou fèb, men yo pase tout sezon chalè ap fè pwovizyon mete la.
26 Se chat mawon: yo pa pi fò pase sa. Men, yo fè kay yo nan twou wòch.
27 Se krikèt vèt: yo pa gen chèf, men yo mache pa bann.
28 Se zandolit: ou ka pran yo nan men ou. Men, ou jwenn yo nan palè wa yo.
29 Gen twa bagay ki bèl lè y’ap mache. Sa m’ap di la a! Gen kat bagay ki gen bèl demach:
30 Se lyon, se li ki pi fò nan tout zannimo, li pa pè yo yonn.
31 Se bouk kabrit. Se chwal sele bride. Se wa lè y’ap mache devan lame yo.
32 Si ou te sòt jouk pou ou te rive fè grandizè, kalkile sou sa ou fè a: Pe bouch ou!
33 Si ou bat lèt, l’ap fè bè. Si ou frape yon moun sou men l’, l’ap senyen. Si ou nan pouse dife, ou nan gwo kont.

Proverbes 30
1 Paroles d’Agur, fils de Jaké. Sentences prononcées par cet homme pour Ithiel, pour Ithiel et pour Ucal.
2 Certes, je suis plus stupide que personne, Et je n’ai pas l’intelligence d’un homme;
3 Je n’ai pas appris la sagesse, Et je ne connais pas la science des saints.
4 Qui est monté aux cieux, et qui en est descendu? Qui a recueilli le vent dans ses mains? Qui a serré les eaux dans son vêtement? Qui a fait paraître les extrémités de la terre? Quel est son nom, et quel est le nom de son fils? Le sais-tu?
5 Toute parole de Dieu est éprouvée. Il est un bouclier pour ceux qui cherchent en lui un refuge.
6 N’ajoute rien à ses paroles, De peur qu’il ne te reprenne et que tu ne sois trouvé menteur.
7 Je te demande deux choses: Ne me les refuse pas, avant que je meure!
8 Éloigne de moi la fausseté et la parole mensongère; Ne me donne ni pauvreté, ni richesse, Accorde-moi le pain qui m’est nécessaire.
9 De peur que, dans l’abondance, je ne te renie Et ne dise: Qui est l’Éternel? Ou que, dans la pauvreté, je ne dérobe, Et ne m’attaque au nom de mon Dieu.
10 Ne calomnie pas un serviteur auprès de son maître, De peur qu’il ne te maudisse et que tu ne te rendes coupable.
11 Il est une race qui maudit son père, Et qui ne bénit point sa mère.
12 Il est une race qui se croit pure, Et qui n’est pas lavée de sa souillure.
13 Il est une race dont les yeux sont hautains, Et les paupières élevées.
14 Il est une race dont les dents sont des glaives Et les mâchoires des couteaux, Pour dévorer le malheureux sur la terre Et les indigents parmi les hommes.
15 La sangsue a deux filles: Donne! donne! Trois choses sont insatiables, Quatre ne disent jamais: Assez!
16 Le séjour des morts, la femme stérile, La terre, qui n’est pas rassasiée d’eau, Et le feu, qui ne dit jamais: Assez!
17 L’oeil qui se moque d’un père Et qui dédaigne l’obéissance envers une mère, Les corbeaux du torrent le perceront, Et les petits de l’aigle le mangeront.
18 Il y a trois choses qui sont au-dessus de ma portée, Même quatre que je ne puis comprendre:
19 La trace de l’aigle dans les cieux, La trace du serpent sur le rocher, La trace du navire au milieu de la mer, Et la trace de l’homme chez la jeune femme.
20 Telle est la voie de la femme adultère: Elle mange, et s’essuie la bouche, Puis elle dit: Je n’ai point fait de mal.
21 Trois choses font trembler la terre, Et il en est quatre qu’elle ne peut supporter:
22 Un esclave qui vient à régner, Un insensé qui est rassasié de pain,
23 Une femme dédaignée qui se marie, Et une servante qui hérite de sa maîtresse.
24 Il y a sur la terre quatre animaux petits, Et cependant des plus sages;
25 Les fourmis, peuple sans force, Préparent en été leur nourriture;
26 Les damans, peuple sans puissance, Placent leur demeure dans les rochers;
27 Les sauterelles n’ont point de roi, Et elles sortent toutes par divisions;
28 Le lézard saisit avec les mains, Et se trouve dans les palais des rois.
29 Il y en a trois qui ont une belle allure, Et quatre qui ont une belle démarche:
30 Le lion, le héros des animaux, Ne reculant devant qui que ce soit;
31 Le cheval tout équipé; ou le bouc; Et le roi à qui personne ne résiste.
32 Si l’orgueil te pousse à des actes de folie, Et si tu as de mauvaises pensées, mets la main sur la bouche:
33 Car la pression du lait produit de la crème, La pression du nez produit du sang, Et la pression de la colère produit des querelles.

Proverbs 30
1 The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal,
2 Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man.
3 I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy.
4 Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell?
5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.
7 Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die:
8 Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me:
9 Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.
10 Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.
11 There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.
12 There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.
13 There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
14 There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.
15 The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough:
16 The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough.
17 The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
18 There be three things which are too wonderful for me, yea, four which I know not:
19 The way of an eagle in the air; the way of a serpent upon a rock; the way of a ship in the midst of the sea; and the way of a man with a maid.
20 Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.
21 For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear:
22 For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat;
23 For an odious woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.
24 There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:
25 The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;
26 The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;
27 The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands;
28 The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings’ palaces.
29 There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going:
30 A lion which is strongest among beasts, and turneth not away for any;
31 A greyhound; an he goat also; and a king, against whom there is no rising up.
32 If thou hast done foolishly in lifting up thyself, or if thou hast thought evil, lay thine hand upon thy mouth.
33 Surely the churning of milk bringeth forth butter, and the wringing of the nose bringeth forth blood: so the forcing of wrath bringeth forth strife.
