1 David te fin vye granmoun, li te fin viv kont li, lè li mete Salomon, pitit li a, wa sou pèp Izrayèl la.
2 Li reyini tout chèf pèp Izrayèl yo, tout prèt yo ak tout moun Levi yo.
3 Li fè konte tout moun Levi yo, depi sa ki gen trantan pou pi piti rive sou sa ki pi gran yo. Antou yo jwenn trantwimil (38.000) gason.
4 David mete vennkatmil (24.000) pou dirije travay tanp lan, simil (6000) pou ekri tou sa k’ap pase ak pou rann jistis,
5 katmil (4000) pou fè pòs nan pòtay la ak katmil (4000) pou fè lwanj Seyè a ak enstriman mizik David te fè fè pou sa.
6 David separe moun Levi yo fè twa gwoup dapre branch fanmi pitit gason Levi yo: Gèchon, Keyat ak Merari.
7 Gèchon te gen de pitit gason: Layedan ak Chimèyi.
8 Layedan te fè twa pitit gason: Yekiyèl, pi gran an, Zetam ak Joèl.
9 Chimeyi te fè twa pitit gason tou: Chelomit, Aziyèl ak Aran. Se yo ki te chèf fanmi moun Layedan yo.
10 Chimeyi te gen kat lòt pitit gason: Jaka, Ziza, Jeouch ak Berya.
11 Se Jaka ki te pi gran, Ziza te dezyèm pitit la. Jeouch ak Berya pa t’ gen anpil pitit. Se konsa yo mete yo ansanm, yo pase pou yon sèl branch fanmi.
12 Keyat te gen kat pitit: Amram, Jizeya, Ebwon ak Ouzyèl.
13 Amram te gen de pitit gason: Arawon ak Moyiz. Bondye te mete Arawon ak pitit li yo apa pou yo okipe pyès ki apa nèt pou Bondye a, pou boule lansan devan Seyè a, pou yo sèvi l’, pou yo beni pèp la nan non li. Se te travay pa yo sa pou tout tan.
14 Moyiz te moun Bondye a menm. Pitit li yo te fè pati branch fanmi Levi a tou.
15 Moyiz te gen de pitit gason: Gèchòm ak Elyezè.
16 Premye pitit Gèchòm lan te rele Chebwèl.
17 Elyezè li menm te gen Rekabya pou premye pitit. Li pa t’ fè lòt pitit gason ankò. Men Rekabya te fè anpil pitit.
18 Premye pitit Jizeya a te rele Chelomit.
19 Men pitit Ebwon yo: Premye a te rele Jerija, dezyèm lan Amarya, twazyèm lan Jakazyèl, katriyèm lan Jekameam.
20 Men pitit Ouzyèl yo: Miche, premye a ak Jikija, dezyèm lan.
21 Merari te gen de pitit gason: Makli ak Mouchi. Makli te gen de pitit gason: Eleaza ak Kich.
22 Eleaza mouri san kite pitit gason. Pitit fi ase li te genyen. Yo marye ak kouzen yo, pitit gason Kich yo.
23 Mouchi te gen twa pitit gason: Makli, Edè ak Jerimòt.
24 Se tout moun nan ras Levi yo sa, dapre fanmi yo, ki te gen non yo kouche nan rejis tankou chèf fanmi. Yo chak te gen travay pa yo nan sèvis kay Seyè a, depi sa ki gen ventan pou pi piti rive sou pi gran yo.
25 David te di: -Seyè a, Bondye pèp Izrayèl la, te fè pèp li a viv ak kè poze. Li menm, Seyè a, l’ap toujou rete lavil Jerizalèm.
26 Konsa, moun Levi yo p’ap nan pote Tant Randevou Seyè a ankò ansanm ak tout bagay yo bezwen pou fè sèvis pou li ankò.
27 Se konsa, dapre dènye pawòl sa yo David te di lè sa a, yo enskri tout moun Levi yo, depi sa ki gen ventan pou pi piti rive sou pi gran yo.
28 Travay yo se ede prèt yo, pitit Arawon yo, nan sèvis y’ap fè nan Tanp Seyè a. Se yo ki pou okipe lakou yo ak tout pyès nan Tanp lan. Se yo ki pou veye pou tout bagay rete nan kondisyon pou fè sèvis Bondye a. Se yo ki reskonsab tout lòt sèvis nan Tanp lan.
29 Yo te reskonsab pen yo te ofri bay Bondye yo, farin frans yo sèvi pou fè ofrann yo, pen san ledven yo, ofrann farin melanje ak lwil yo. Se yo ki te reskonsab peze ak mezire ofrann nan Tanp lan.
30 Lèfini, se pou yo la nan Tanp lan chak jou, nan maten ak nan aswè, pou di Bondye mèsi, pou fè lwanj pou li.
31 Se pou yo la tou lè y’ap fè ofrann pou yo boule nèt pou Seyè a jou repo yo, premye jou chak mwa yo, ak pou lòt jou fèt yo. Te gen regleman ki te bay travay moun Levi yo gen pou fè ak kantite moun ki pou fè chak travay. Se te reskonsablite yo pou yo te toujou ap sèvi Seyè a.
32 Se yo menm tou ki te reskonsab okipe Tant Randevou a, ak kote yo mete apa pou Seyè a, ak prèt yo, fanmi yo ki soti nan branch fanmi Arawon an, lè y’ap sèvi nan Tanp lan.

1 David, âgé et rassasié de jours, établit Salomon, son fils, roi sur Israël.
2 Il assembla tous les chefs d’Israël, les sacrificateurs et les Lévites.
3 On fit le dénombrement des Lévites, depuis l’âge de trente ans et au-dessus; comptés par tête et par homme, ils se trouvèrent au nombre de trente-huit mille.
4 Et David dit: Qu’il y en ait vingt-quatre mille pour veiller aux offices de la maison de l’Éternel, six mille comme magistrats et juges,
5 quatre mille comme portiers, et quatre mille chargés de louer l’Éternel avec les instruments que j’ai faits pour le célébrer.
6 David les divisa en classes d’après les fils de Lévi, Guerschon, Kehath et Merari.
7 Des Guerschonites: Laedan et Schimeï. –
8 Fils de Laedan: le chef Jehiel, Zétham et Joël, trois.
9 Fils de Schimeï: Schelomith, Haziel et Haran, trois. Ce sont là les chefs des maisons paternelles de la famille de Laedan. –
10 Fils de Schimeï: Jachath, Zina, Jeusch et Beria. Ce sont là les quatre fils de Schimeï.
11 Jachath était le chef, et Zina le second; Jeusch et Beria n’eurent pas beaucoup de fils, et ils formèrent une seule maison paternelle dans le dénombrement.
12 Fils de Kehath: Amram, Jitsehar, Hébron et Uziel, quatre. –
13 Fils d’Amram: Aaron et Moïse. Aaron fut mis à part pour être sanctifié comme très saint, lui et ses fils à perpétuité, pour offrir les parfums devant l’Éternel, pour faire son service, et pour bénir à toujours en son nom.
14 Mais les fils de Moïse, homme de Dieu, furent comptés dans la tribu de Lévi.
15 Fils de Moïse: Guerschom et Éliézer.
16 Fils de Guerschom: Schebuel, le chef.
17 Et les fils d’Éliézer furent: Rechabia, le chef; Éliézer n’eut pas d’autre fils, mais les fils de Rechabia furent très nombreux. –
18 Fils de Jitsehar: Schelomith, le chef. –
19 Fils d’Hébron: Jerija, le chef; Amaria, le second; Jachaziel, le troisième; et Jekameam, le quatrième. –
20 Fils d’Uziel: Michée, le chef; et Jischija, le second.
21 Fils de Merari: Machli et Muschi. -Fils de Machli: Éléazar et Kis.
22 Éléazar mourut sans avoir de fils; mais il eut des filles, que prirent pour femmes les fils de Kis, leurs frères. –
23 Fils de Muschi: Machli, Éder et Jerémoth, trois.
24 Ce sont là les fils de Lévi, selon leurs maisons paternelles, les chefs des maisons paternelles, d’après le dénombrement qu’on en fit en comptant les noms par tête. Ils étaient employés au service de la maison de l’Éternel, depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus.
25 Car David dit: L’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, a donné du repos à son peuple, et il habitera pour toujours à Jérusalem;
26 et les Lévites n’auront plus à porter le tabernacle et tous les ustensiles pour son service.
27 Ce fut d’après les derniers ordres de David qu’eut lieu le dénombrement des fils de Lévi depuis l’âge de vingt ans et au-dessus.
28 Placés auprès des fils d’Aaron pour le service de la maison de l’Éternel, ils avaient à prendre soin des parvis et des chambres, de la purification de toutes les choses saintes, des ouvrages concernant le service de la maison de Dieu,
29 des pains de proposition, de la fleur de farine pour les offrandes, des galettes sans levain, des gâteaux cuits sur la plaque et des gâteaux frits, de toutes les mesures de capacité et de longueur:
30 ils avaient à se présenter chaque matin et chaque soir, afin de louer et de célébrer l’Éternel,
31 et à offrir continuellement devant l’Éternel tous les holocaustes à l’Éternel, aux sabbats, aux nouvelles lunes et aux fêtes, selon le nombre et les usages prescrits.
32 Ils donnaient leurs soins à la tente d’assignation, au sanctuaire, et aux fils d’Aaron, leurs frères, pour le service de la maison de l’Éternel.

1 So when David was old and full of days, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
2 And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites.
3 Now the Levites were numbered from the age of thirty years and upward: and their number by their polls, man by man, was thirty and eight thousand.
4 Of which, twenty and four thousand were to set forward the work of the house of the Lord; and six thousand were officers and judges:
5 Moreover four thousand were porters; and four thousand praised the Lord with the instruments which I made, said David, to praise therewith.
6 And David divided them into courses among the sons of Levi, namely, Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
7 Of the Gershonites were, Laadan, and Shimei.
8 The sons of Laadan; the chief was Jehiel, and Zetham, and Joel, three.
9 The sons of Shimei; Shelomith, and Haziel, and Haran, three. These were the chief of the fathers of Laadan.
10 And the sons of Shimei were, Jahath, Zina, and Jeush, and Beriah. These four were the sons of Shimei.
11 And Jahath was the chief, and Zizah the second: but Jeush and Beriah had not many sons; therefore they were in one reckoning, according to their father’s house.
12 The sons of Kohath; Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel, four.
13 The sons of Amram; Aaron and Moses: and Aaron was separated, that he should sanctify the most holy things, he and his sons for ever, to burn incense before the Lord, to minister unto him, and to bless in his name for ever.
14 Now concerning Moses the man of God, his sons were named of the tribe of Levi.
15 The sons of Moses were, Gershom, and Eliezer.
16 Of the sons of Gershom, Shebuel was the chief.
17 And the sons of Eliezer were, Rehabiah the chief. And Eliezer had none other sons; but the sons of Rehabiah were very many.
18 Of the sons of Izhar; Shelomith the chief.
19 Of the sons of Hebron; Jeriah the first, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
20 Of the sons of Uzziel; Micah the first and Jesiah the second.
21 The sons of Merari; Mahli, and Mushi. The sons of Mahli; Eleazar, and Kish.
22 And Eleazar died, and had no sons, but daughters: and their brethren the sons of Kish took them.
23 The sons of Mushi; Mahli, and Eder, and Jeremoth, three.
24 These were the sons of Levi after the house of their fathers; even the chief of the fathers, as they were counted by number of names by their polls, that did the work for the service of the house of the Lord, from the age of twenty years and upward.
25 For David said, The Lord God of Israel hath given rest unto his people, that they may dwell in Jerusalem for ever:
26 And also unto the Levites; they shall no more carry the tabernacle, nor any vessels of it for the service thereof.
27 For by the last words of David the Levites were numbered from twenty years old and above:
28 Because their office was to wait on the sons of Aaron for the service of the house of the Lord, in the courts, and in the chambers, and in the purifying of all holy things, and the work of the service of the house of God;
29 Both for the shewbread, and for the fine flour for meat offering, and for the unleavened cakes, and for that which is baked in the pan, and for that which is fried, and for all manner of measure and size;
30 And to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord, and likewise at even:
31 And to offer all burnt sacrifices unto the Lord in the sabbaths, in the new moons, and on the set feasts, by number, according to the order commanded unto them, continually before the Lord:
32 And that they should keep the charge of the tabernacle of the congregation, and the charge of the holy place, and the charge of the sons of Aaron their brethren, in the service of the house of the Lord.
