1 Antan Apolòs te lavil Korent, Pòl menm t’ap pase nan tout mòn peyi Lazi yo jouk li rive lavil Efèz. Li jwenn kèk disip nan lavil la.
2 Li mande yo: Eske nou te resevwa Sentespri lè nou te kwè? Yo reponn li: Yo pa t’ janm di nou te gen yon Sentespri.
3 Lè sa a, Pòl mande yo: Ki batèm nou te resevwa? Yo reponn li: Batèm Jan an.
4 Pòl di yo: Jan te batize moun ki te asepte tounen vin jwenn Bondye, li t’ap di pèp Izrayèl la pou yo te kwè nan moun ki t’ap vini apre l’ la, ki vle di Jezi.
5 Lè yo tande sa, yo mande pou resevwa batèm nan non Seyè Jezi.
6 Apre sa, Pòl mete men sou tèt yo, epi Sentespri desann sou yo. Yo pran pale nan lang lòt peyi, yo t’ap bay mesaj ki soti nan Bondye.
7 Te gen douz gason konsa antou.
8 Pòl ale nan sinagòg la. Pandan twa mwa li t’ap pale la avèk gwo konviksyon. Li t’ap fè yo konnen tout bagay sou Gouvènman Bondye ki wa a, li t’ap chache pran tèt moun ki t’ap koute l’ yo.
9 Men, anpil t’ap fè tèt di, yo te refize kwè: yo t’ap pase chemen Bondye a nan rizib devan tout asanble a. Lè Pòl wè sa, li wete kò l’ nan mitan yo, li pran disip Kris yo avèk li. Chak jou li t’ap preche nan lekòl Tiranis la.

16 Lè sa a, nonm ki te gen move lespri sou li a fonse sou yo, li moutre li te gen plis fòs pase yo tout mete ansanm. Li malmennen yo sitèlman yo pran kouri soti nan kay la toutouni, tout kò yo an san.
17 Tout moun lavil Efèz, jwif kou moun lòt nasyon yo, te rive konn bagay sa a. Yo tout te pè, men yo te vin gen gwo respè pou non Seyè Jezi a.

21 Apre bagay sa yo fin pase, Pòl fè lide pase nan Masedwan ak Lakayi, apre sa pou li al Jerizalèm. Li t’ap di: Apre mwen soti la, se pou m’ al wè lavil Wòm tou.
22 Lè sa a, li voye Timote ak Eras, de nan moun ki t’ap ede l’ nan sèvis la, devan nan peyi Masedwan. Li menm li rete kèk tan ankò nan pwovens Lazi.
23 Se lè sa a yon gwo dezòd pete nan lavil Efèz poutèt chemen Bondye a.
24 Te gen yon òfèv yo te rele Demetriyis, ki te konn fè ti modèl kay yo te bati pou yon bondye fanm yo rele Atemis. Se an ajan li te fè yo. Travay sa a te rapòte ouvriye l’ yo anpil.
25 Yon jou, li sanble tout ouvriye l’ yo ansanm ak tout lòt moun ki te konn fè menm travay sa a tou. Li di yo: Mesye, nou konnen se travay sa a ki fè nou viv.
26 Men, nou wè ak je nou, nou tande ak zòrèy nou sa nonm yo rele Pòl la ap fè. L’ap mache di bondye moun fè ak men se pa bondye yo ye menm. Se konsa, li resi rive pran tèt anpil moun, pa isit nan lavil Efèz la ase, men nan tout pwovens Lazi a.
27 Talè konsa, metye nou an pral pote move non. Men, sa ki pi rèd ankò, kay Atemis, gwo bondye fanm lan, pral pèdi repitasyon li. Lè sa a menm, gwo bondye moun ap adore nan tout pwovens Lazi ak toupatou sou latè a pral pase pou anyen.
28 Lè yo tande sa, foul moun yo vin ankòlè anpil, yo pran rele: Atemis moun Efèz yo, se gwo nègès!
29 Dezòd la gaye nan tout lavil la. Moun yo pase men yo, yo pran Gayis ak Aristak, de moun Masedwan ki te ansanm ak Pòl nan vwayaj li a, yo kouri an foul, y’ al nan teyat la.
30 Pòl te vle ale li menm tou devan pèp la, men disip yo te di l’ non.
31 Te gen de twa chèf nan peyi Lazi a ki te zanmi l’, yo voye bò kote l’, yo mande l’ pou l’ pa parèt tèt li nan teyat la.
32 Pandan tout tan sa a, te gen gwo bouyay nan asanble a. Yon pòsyon moun t’ap rele yon bagay, yon lòt pòsyon menm t’ap rele yon lòt bagay. Pifò ladan yo pa t’ konnen ojis poukisa yo te sanble.
33 Kèk moun nan foul la esplike bagay la bay Aleksann, yon nonm jwif yo te mete alatèt yo. Aleksann fè siy ak men li, li te vle pale pou l’ pran defans jwif yo devan pèp la.
34 Men, lè yo rekonnèt se jwif li ye, yo tout pran rele ansanm menm bagay la pandan dezèdetan: Atemis moun Efèz yo, se gwo nègès.
35 Bout pou bout, sekretè lakomin lan te resi fè foul la sispann rele, li di yo konsa: Moun Efèz, koute! Tout moun konnen lavil Efèz se li menm k’ap veye sou kay Atemis, gwo nègès, ansanm ak estati li a ki te tonbe sot nan syèl la.
36 Pesonn pa ka di se pa vre. Se sa ki fè, se pou n’ mete tèt nou an plas pou n’ pa fè anyen san nou pa kalkile byen.
37 Bon. Mesye sa yo nou mennen isit la, se pa vòlò yo vòlò nan tanp yo, ni se pa pale yo pale mal sou Atemis, bondye fanm nou an.
38 Si Demetriyis ak ouvriye l’ yo gen yon kont yo vle regle ak yon moun, gen jou pou tribinal la travay, epi gen chèf pou sa tou: se la pou y’ al pote plent.
39 Apre sa, si nou gen lòt reklamasyon nou vle fè, n’a regle sa yon lè tout sitwayen yo va reyini dapre lalwa.
40 Avèk sa ki pase jòdi a, yo kapab al pote plent pou nou, yo kapab al di n’ap fè revolisyon. Pa gen okenn rezon pou tout dezòd sa a. Nou p’ap kapab bay okenn esplikasyon pou sa.
41 Lè li fin di sa, li voye tout moun lakay yo.

Actes 19
1 Pendant qu’Apollos était à Corinthe, Paul, après avoir parcouru les hautes provinces de l’Asie, arriva à Éphèse. Ayant rencontré quelques disciples, il leur dit:
2 Avez-vous reçu le Saint Esprit, quand vous avez cru? Ils lui répondirent: Nous n’avons pas même entendu dire qu’il y ait un Saint Esprit.
3 Il dit: De quel baptême avez-vous donc été baptisés? Et ils répondirent: Du baptême de Jean.
4 Alors Paul dit: Jean a baptisé du baptême de repentance, disant au peuple de croire en celui qui venait après lui, c’est-à-dire, en Jésus.
5 Sur ces paroles, ils furent baptisés au nom du Seigneur Jésus.
6 Lorsque Paul leur eut imposé les mains, le Saint Esprit vint sur eux, et ils parlaient en langues et prophétisaient.
7 Ils étaient en tout environ douze hommes.
8 Ensuite Paul entra dans la synagogue, où il parla librement. Pendant trois mois, il discourut sur les choses qui concernent le royaume de Dieu, s’efforçant de persuader ceux qui l’écoutaient.
9 Mais, comme quelques-uns restaient endurcis et incrédules, décriant devant la multitude la voie du Seigneur, il se retira d’eux, sépara les disciples, et enseigna chaque jour dans l’école d’un nommé Tyrannus.
10 Cela dura deux ans, de sorte que tous ceux qui habitaient l’Asie, Juifs et Grecs, entendirent la parole du Seigneur.
11 Et Dieu faisait des miracles extraordinaires par les mains de Paul,
12 au point qu’on appliquait sur les malades des linges ou des mouchoirs qui avaient touché son corps, et les maladies les quittaient, et les esprits malins sortaient.
13 Quelques exorcistes juifs ambulants essayèrent d’invoquer sur ceux qui avaient des esprits malins le nom du Seigneur Jésus, en disant: Je vous conjure par Jésus que Paul prêche!
14 Ceux qui faisaient cela étaient sept fils de Scéva, Juif, l’un des principaux sacrificateurs.
15 L’esprit malin leur répondit: Je connais Jésus, et je sais qui est Paul; mais vous, qui êtes-vous?
16 Et l’homme dans lequel était l’esprit malin s’élança sur eux, se rendit maître de tous deux, et les maltraita de telle sorte qu’ils s’enfuirent de cette maison nus et blessés.
17 Cela fut connu de tous les Juifs et de tous les Grecs qui demeuraient à Éphèse, et la crainte s’empara d’eux tous, et le nom du Seigneur Jésus était glorifié.
18 Plusieurs de ceux qui avaient cru venaient confesser et déclarer ce qu’ils avaient fait.
19 Et un certain nombre de ceux qui avaient exercé les arts magiques, ayant apporté leurs livres, les brûlèrent devant tout le monde: on en estima la valeur à cinquante mille pièces d’argent.
20 C’est ainsi que la parole du Seigneur croissait en puissance et en force.
21 Après que ces choses se furent passées, Paul forma le projet d’aller à Jérusalem, en traversant la Macédoine et l’Achaïe. Quand j’aurai été là, se disait-il, il faut aussi que je voie Rome.
22 Il envoya en Macédoine deux de ses aides, Timothée et Éraste, et il resta lui-même quelque temps encore en Asie.
23 Il survint, à cette époque, un grand trouble au sujet de la voie du Seigneur.
24 Un nommé Démétrius, orfèvre, fabriquait en argent des temples de Diane, et procurait à ses ouvriers un gain considérable.
25 Il les rassembla, avec ceux du même métier, et dit: O hommes, vous savez que notre bien-être dépend de cette industrie;
26 et vous voyez et entendez que, non seulement à Éphèse, mais dans presque toute l’Asie, ce Paul a persuadé et détourné une foule de gens, en disant que les dieux faits de main d’homme ne sont pas des dieux.
27 Le danger qui en résulte, ce n’est pas seulement que notre industrie ne tombe en discrédit; c’est encore que le temple de la grande déesse Diane ne soit tenu pour rien, et même que la majesté de celle qui est révérée dans toute l’Asie et dans le monde entier ne soit réduite à néant.
28 Ces paroles les ayant remplis de colère, ils se mirent à crier: Grande est la Diane des Éphésiens!
29 Toute la ville fut dans la confusion. Ils se précipitèrent tous ensemble au théâtre, entraînant avec eux Gaïus et Aristarque, Macédoniens, compagnons de voyage de Paul.
30 Paul voulait se présenter devant le peuple, mais les disciples l’en empêchèrent;
31 quelques-uns même des Asiarques, qui étaient ses amis, envoyèrent vers lui, pour l’engager à ne pas se rendre au théâtre.
32 Les uns criaient d’une manière, les autres d’une autre, car le désordre régnait dans l’assemblée, et la plupart ne savaient pas pourquoi ils s’étaient réunis.
33 Alors on fit sortir de la foule Alexandre, que les Juifs poussaient en avant; et Alexandre, faisant signe de la main, voulait parler au peuple.
34 Mais quand ils reconnurent qu’il était Juif, tous d’une seule voix crièrent pendant près de deux heures: Grande est la Diane des Éphésiens!
35 Cependant le secrétaire, ayant apaisé la foule, dit: Hommes Éphésiens, quel est celui qui ignore que la ville d’Éphèse est la gardienne du temple de la grande Diane et de son simulacre tombé du ciel?
36 Cela étant incontestable, vous devez vous calmer, et ne rien faire avec précipitation.
37 Car vous avez amené ces hommes, qui ne sont coupables ni de sacrilège, ni de blasphème envers notre déesse.
38 Si donc Démétrius et ses ouvriers ont à se plaindre de quelqu’un, il y a des jours d’audience et des proconsuls; qu’ils s’appellent en justice les uns les autres.
39 Et si vous avez en vue d’autres objets, ils se régleront dans une assemblée légale.
40 Nous risquons, en effet, d’être accusés de sédition pour ce qui s’est passé aujourd’hui, puisqu’il n’existe aucun motif qui nous permette de justifier cet attroupement.
41 (19:40b) Après ces paroles, il congédia l’assemblée.

1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
7 And all the men were about twelve.
8 And he went into the synagogue, and spake boldly for the space of three months, disputing and persuading the things concerning the kingdom of God.
9 But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
10 And this continued by the space of two years; so that all they which dwelt in Asia heard the word of the Lord Jesus, both Jews and Greeks.
11 And God wrought special miracles by the hands of Paul:
12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them.
13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.
14 And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so.
15 And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?
16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.
17 And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.
18 And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds.
19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
20 So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.
21 After these things were ended, Paul purposed in the spirit, when he had passed through Macedonia and Achaia, to go to Jerusalem, saying, After I have been there, I must also see Rome.
22 So he sent into Macedonia two of them that ministered unto him, Timotheus and Erastus; but he himself stayed in Asia for a season.
23 And the same time there arose no small stir about that way.
24 For a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, which made silver shrines for Diana, brought no small gain unto the craftsmen;
25 Whom he called together with the workmen of like occupation, and said, Sirs, ye know that by this craft we have our wealth.
26 Moreover ye see and hear, that not alone at Ephesus, but almost throughout all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned away much people, saying that they be no gods, which are made with hands:
27 So that not only this our craft is in danger to be set at nought; but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her magnificence should be destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worshippeth.
28 And when they heard these sayings, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.
29 And the whole city was filled with confusion: and having caught Gaius and Aristarchus, men of Macedonia, Paul’s companions in travel, they rushed with one accord into the theatre.
30 And when Paul would have entered in unto the people, the disciples suffered him not.
31 And certain of the chief of Asia, which were his friends, sent unto him, desiring him that he would not adventure himself into the theatre.
32 Some therefore cried one thing, and some another: for the assembly was confused: and the more part knew not wherefore they were come together.
33 And they drew Alexander out of the multitude, the Jews putting him forward. And Alexander beckoned with the hand, and would have made his defence unto the people.
34 But when they knew that he was a Jew, all with one voice about the space of two hours cried out, Great is Diana of the Ephesians.
35 And when the townclerk had appeased the people, he said, Ye men of Ephesus, what man is there that knoweth not how that the city of the Ephesians is a worshipper of the great goddess Diana, and of the image which fell down from Jupiter?
36 Seeing then that these things cannot be spoken against, ye ought to be quiet, and to do nothing rashly.
37 For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess.
38 Wherefore if Demetrius, and the craftsmen which are with him, have a matter against any man, the law is open, and there are deputies: let them implead one another.
39 But if ye enquire any thing concerning other matters, it shall be determined in a lawful assembly.
40 For we are in danger to be called in question for this day’s uproar, there being no cause whereby we may give an account of this concourse.
41 And when he had thus spoken, he dismissed the assembly.
