2 Li te gen vennsenkan lè sa a. Li gouvènen nan lavil Jerizalèm pandan ventnevan. Manman l’ te rele Jeojadan. Se te yon moun lavil Jerizalèm.
3 Li te fè sa ki dwat devan Seyè a, men pa tankou David, zansèt li a. Li te fè menm jan ak Joas, papa l’.
4 Tansèlman, li pa t’ kraze tanp bondye lòt nasyon yo, kifè moun yo te toujou al touye bèt, boule lansan nan tanp sa yo.
5 Lè Amasya santi li byen chita sou pouvwa a, li fè touye tout chèf nan lame a ki te touye papa l’.
6 Men, li pa t’ manyen pitit ansasen sa yo, paske, dapre sa ki ekri nan liv lalwa Moyiz la, Seyè a te di: Papa pa gen dwa peye pou sa pitit li yo fè, ni pitit pa gen dwa peye pou sa papa yo fè. Chak moun va peye pou sa yo fè.

10 Se pou m’ di ou, Amasya, ou kraze moun peyi Edon yo. Koulye a, ou santi ou gwonèg anpil. M’ byen kontan pou ou. Gonfle lestonmak ou jan ou kapab, men rete sou sa ou fè a. Poukisa pou w’ap chache traka bay kò ou pou sa pase mal ni pou ou ni pou peyi Jida a?
11 Men, Amasya derefize koute l’. Se konsa, Joas soti ak lame li pou l’ al goumen ak Amasya bò lavil Betchemèch nan peyi Jida.

14 Li pran dènye bagay an lò ak an ajan li jwenn, tou sa ki te nan Tanp Seyè a ak tout richès ki te nan palè wa a. Li pote yo avè l’ lavil Samari, san konte kantite moun li te fè prizonye sou kondisyon.
15 Tout rès istwa Joas la, tou sa li te fè, jan li te vanyan sòlda lè li t’ap goumen ak Amasya, wa peyi Jida a, nou jwenn tou sa ekri nan liv Istwa wa peyi Izrayèl yo.
16 Lè Joas mouri, yo antere l’ lavil Samari nan kavo wa Izrayèl yo. Se Jewoboram, pitit gason l’ lan, ki moute wa nan plas li.
17 Amasya, pitit Joas, wa peyi Jida a, te viv kenzan ankò apre lanmò Joas, pitit Joakaz, wa peyi Izrayèl la.
18 Tout rès istwa Amasya a ekri nan liv Istwa wa peyi Jida yo.
19 Yo moute yon konplo lavil Jerizalèm pou yo touye Amasya. Se konsa Amasya kouri al kache lavil Lakis. Men, lènmi l’ yo rapouswiv li, yo touye l’.
20 Apre sa, yo mete kadav li sou chwal, yo tounen avè l’ lavil Jerizalèm, yo antere l’ lavil David la nan kavo zansèt li yo.
21 Tout pèp peyi Jida a pran Azarya, pitit gason Amasya a, yo fè l’ wa nan plas papa l’. Azarya te gen sèzan lè sa a.
22 Se li menm ki reprann lavil Elat, li fè l’ tounen anba otorite wa Jida a, apre lanmò papa l’.
23 Amasya, pitit Joas, t’ap mache sou kenzan depi li t’ap gouvènen peyi Jida lè Jewoboram, pitit Joas, wa peyi Izrayèl la, moute wa nan plas papa l’. Li gouvènen nan lavil Samari pandan karanteyen an.
24 Men li fè sa ki mal nan je Seyè a, li te lage kò l’ nan fè menm peche ak Jewoboram, pitit Nebat la, li lakòz pèp Izrayèl la peche tou.
25 Se Jewoboram ki reprann tout zòn ki te pou peyi Izrayèl la depi nan Pas Amat la nan nò, rive Lanmè Mouri a nan sid, jan Seyè a, Bondye pèp Izrayèl la, te bay Jonas, sèvitè l’ la, mesaj la. Jonas sa a, pitit Amitayi, te yon pwofèt lavil Gatefè.
26 Seyè a te wè jan pèp Izrayèl la t’ap soufri anpil. Tout moun, jenn gason kou granmoun, t’ap pase pa yo. Pa t’gen pyès moun pou pote yo sekou.
27 Se konsa, li voye Jewoboram, pitit Joas la, pou vin delivre yo, paske se pa t’ janm lide l’ pou l’ te disparèt yo sou latè.
28 Tout rès istwa Jewoboram lan, tou sa li fè, jan li te vanyan sòlda lè li t’ap fè lagè, jan li te fè lavil Damas ak lavil Amat soti anba men moun Jida yo tounen anba otorite wa Izrayèl la, n’a jwenn tou sa ekri nan liv Istwa wa Izrayèl yo.
29 Lè Jewoboram mouri, yo antere l’ menm kote ak tout wa Izrayèl yo. Se Zakari, pitit li, ki moute wa nan plas li.

1 La seconde année de Joas, fils de Joachaz, roi d’Israël, Amatsia, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, régna.
2 Il avait vingt-cinq ans lorsqu’il devint roi, et il régna vingt-neuf ans à Jérusalem. Sa mère s’appelait Joaddan, de Jérusalem.
3 Il fit ce qui est droit aux yeux de l’Éternel, non pas toutefois comme David, son père; il agit entièrement comme avait agi Joas, son père.
4 Seulement, les hauts-lieux ne disparurent point; le peuple offrait encore des sacrifices et des parfums sur les hauts-lieux.
5 Lorsque la royauté fut affermie entre ses mains, il frappa ses serviteurs qui avaient tué le roi, son père.
6 Mais il ne fit pas mourir les fils des meurtriers, selon ce qui est écrit dans le livre de la loi de Moïse, où l’Éternel donne ce commandement: On ne fera point mourir les pères pour les enfants, et l’on ne fera point mourir les enfants pour les pères; mais on fera mourir chacun pour son péché.
7 Il battit dix mille Édomites dans la vallée du sel; et durant la guerre, il prit Séla, et l’appela Joktheel, nom qu’elle a conservé jusqu’à ce jour.
8 Alors Amatsia envoya des messagers à Joas, fils de Joachaz, fils de Jéhu, roi d’Israël, pour lui dire: Viens, voyons-nous en face!
9 Et Joas, roi d’Israël, fit dire à Amatsia, roi de Juda: L’épine du Liban envoya dire au cèdre du Liban: Donne ta fille pour femme à mon fils! Et les bêtes sauvages qui sont au Liban passèrent et foulèrent l’épine.
10 Tu as battu les Édomites, et ton coeur s’élève. Jouis de ta gloire, et reste chez toi. Pourquoi t’engager dans une malheureuse entreprise, qui amènerait ta ruine et celle de Juda?
11 Mais Amatsia ne l’écouta pas. Et Joas, roi d’Israël, monta; et ils se virent en face, lui et Amatsia, roi de Juda, à Beth Schémesch, qui est à Juda.
12 Juda fut battu par Israël, et chacun s’enfuit dans sa tente.
13 Joas, roi d’Israël, prit à Beth Schémesch Amatsia, roi de Juda, fils de Joas, fils d’Achazia. Il vint à Jérusalem, et fit une brèche de quatre cents coudées dans la muraille de Jérusalem, depuis la porte d’Éphraïm jusqu’à la porte de l’angle.
14 Il prit tout l’or et l’argent et tous les vases qui se trouvaient dans la maison de l’Éternel et dans les trésors de la maison du roi; il prit aussi des otages, et il retourna à Samarie.
15 Le reste des actions de Joas, ce qu’il a fait, ses exploits, et la guerre qu’il eut avec Amatsia, roi de Juda, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d’Israël?
16 Joas se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré à Samarie avec les rois d’Israël. Et Jéroboam, son fils, régna à sa place.
17 Amatsia, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, vécut quinze ans après la mort de Joas, fils de Joachaz, roi d’Israël.
18 Le reste des actions d’Amatsia, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois de Juda?
19 On forma contre lui une conspiration à Jérusalem, et il s’enfuit à Lakis; mais on le poursuivit à Lakis, où on le fit mourir.
20 On le transporta sur des chevaux, et il fut enterré à Jérusalem avec ses pères, dans la ville de David.
21 Et tout le peuple de Juda prit Azaria, âgé de seize ans, et l’établit roi à la place de son père Amatsia.
22 Azaria rebâtit Élath et la fit rentrer sous la puissance de Juda, après que le roi fut couché avec ses pères.
23 La quinzième année d’Amatsia, fils de Joas, roi de Juda, Jéroboam, fils de Joas, roi d’Israël, régna à Samarie. Il régna quarante et un ans.
24 Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l’Éternel; il ne se détourna d’aucun des péchés de Jéroboam, fils de Nebath, qui avait fait pécher Israël.
25 Il rétablit les limites d’Israël depuis l’entrée de Hamath jusqu’à la mer de la plaine, selon la parole que l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, avait prononcée par son serviteur Jonas, le prophète, fils d’Amitthaï, de Gath Hépher.
26 Car l’Éternel vit l’affliction d’Israël à son comble et l’extrémité à laquelle se trouvaient réduits esclaves et hommes libres, sans qu’il y eût personne pour venir au secours d’Israël.
27 Or l’Éternel n’avait point résolu d’effacer le nom d’Israël de dessous les cieux, et il les délivra par Jéroboam, fils de Joas.
28 Le reste des actions de Jéroboam, tout ce qu’il a fait, ses exploits à la guerre, et comment il fit rentrer sous la puissance d’Israël Damas et Hamath qui avaient appartenu à Juda, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des Chroniques des rois d’Israël?
29 Jéroboam se coucha avec ses pères, avec les rois d’Israël. Et Zacharie, son fils, régna à sa place.

1 In the second year of Joash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel reigned Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah.
2 He was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem. And his mother’s name was Jehoaddan of Jerusalem.
3 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, yet not like David his father: he did according to all things as Joash his father did.
4 Howbeit the high places were not taken away: as yet the people did sacrifice and burnt incense on the high places.
5 And it came to pass, as soon as the kingdom was confirmed in his hand, that he slew his servants which had slain the king his father.
6 But the children of the murderers he slew not: according unto that which is written in the book of the law of Moses, wherein the Lord commanded, saying, The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, nor the children be put to death for the fathers; but every man shall be put to death for his own sin.
7 He slew of Edom in the valley of salt ten thousand, and took Selah by war, and called the name of it Joktheel unto this day.
8 Then Amaziah sent messengers to Jehoash, the son of Jehoahaz son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, Come, let us look one another in the face.
9 And Jehoash the king of Israel sent to Amaziah king of Judah, saying, The thistle that was in Lebanon sent to the cedar that was in Lebanon, saying, Give thy daughter to my son to wife: and there passed by a wild beast that was in Lebanon, and trode down the thistle.
10 Thou hast indeed smitten Edom, and thine heart hath lifted thee up: glory of this, and tarry at home: for why shouldest thou meddle to thy hurt, that thou shouldest fall, even thou, and Judah with thee?
11 But Amaziah would not hear. Therefore Jehoash king of Israel went up; and he and Amaziah king of Judah looked one another in the face at Bethshemesh, which belongeth to Judah.
12 And Judah was put to the worse before Israel; and they fled every man to their tents.
13 And Jehoash king of Israel took Amaziah king of Judah, the son of Jehoash the son of Ahaziah, at Bethshemesh, and came to Jerusalem, and brake down the wall of Jerusalem from the gate of Ephraim unto the corner gate, four hundred cubits.
14 And he took all the gold and silver, and all the vessels that were found in the house of the Lord, and in the treasures of the king’s house, and hostages, and returned to Samaria.
15 Now the rest of the acts of Jehoash which he did, and his might, and how he fought with Amaziah king of Judah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
16 And Jehoash slept with his fathers, and was buried in Samaria with the kings of Israel; and Jeroboam his son reigned in his stead.
17 And Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah lived after the death of Jehoash son of Jehoahaz king of Israel fifteen years.
18 And the rest of the acts of Amaziah, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Judah?
19 Now they made a conspiracy against him in Jerusalem: and he fled to Lachish; but they sent after him to Lachish, and slew him there.
20 And they brought him on horses: and he was buried at Jerusalem with his fathers in the city of David.
21 And all the people of Judah took Azariah, which was sixteen years old, and made him king instead of his father Amaziah.
22 He built Elath, and restored it to Judah, after that the king slept with his fathers.
23 In the fifteenth year of Amaziah the son of Joash king of Judah Jeroboam the son of Joash king of Israel began to reign in Samaria, and reigned forty and one years.
24 And he did that which was evil in the sight of the Lord: he departed not from all the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin.
25 He restored the coast of Israel from the entering of Hamath unto the sea of the plain, according to the word of the Lord God of Israel, which he spake by the hand of his servant Jonah, the son of Amittai, the prophet, which was of Gathhepher.
26 For the Lord saw the affliction of Israel, that it was very bitter: for there was not any shut up, nor any left, nor any helper for Israel.
27 And the Lord said not that he would blot out the name of Israel from under heaven: but he saved them by the hand of Jeroboam the son of Joash.
28 Now the rest of the acts of Jeroboam, and all that he did, and his might, how he warred, and how he recovered Damascus, and Hamath, which belonged to Judah, for Israel, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
29 And Jeroboam slept with his fathers, even with the kings of Israel; and Zachariah his son reigned in his stead.
