1 Jozafa, pitit Asa, moute wa nan plas papa l’. Li ranfòse pozisyon l’ devan peyi Izrayèl la.
2 Li mete sòlda nan tout lavil ki gen ranpa nan peyi Jida a, li mete gouvènè nan tout peyi Jida a ak nan tout lavil Asa, papa l’, te pran nan peyi Efrayim lan.
3 Seyè a te kanpe avèk Jozafa, paske li te fè tankou David, granpapa l’, nan konmansman rèy li. Li pa t’ kouri dèyè Baal yo.
4 Li t’ap chache tout jan pou li te sèvi Bondye zansèt li a. Li te mache dapre lòd Bondye bay yo, li pa t’ fè tankou wa Izrayèl yo.
5 Seyè a bay gouvènman l’ lan fòs. Nan peyi Jida a, tout moun t’ap pote kado ba li. Konsa, li te vin gen anpil byen. Tout moun t’ap fè lwanj li.
6 Li te pran plezi l’ nan fè volonte Seyè a. Li fè disparèt tout kote yo t’ap sèvi zidòl nan peyi Jida a, ansanm ak tout estati Achera yo.
7 Li te gen twazan depi li te wa lè li voye kèk chèf nan tout lavil peyi Jida yo pou moutre pèp la sa pou l’ fè. Men non chèf yo: Se te Bennayil, Obadya, Zekaraya, Netaneyèl ak Mikaya.
8 Yo te gen nèf moun Levi ak de prèt ak yo. Moun Levi yo te rele Chemaya, Netanya, Zebadya, Asayèl, Chemiramòt, Jonatan, Adonija, Tobija ak Tobadonija. Prèt yo te rele: Elichama ak Joram.
9 Avèk liv lalwa Seyè a nan men yo, yo mache nan tout peyi a, yo ale nan tout lavil yo pou moutre pèp la sa pou li fè.
10 Tout gouvènman peyi ki te vwazen ak peyi Jida a te sitèlman pè Seyè a, yo yonn pa chache fè lagè ak wa Jozafa.
11 Lekontrè, te gen anpil moun Filisti ki te pote anpil kado ak anpil ajan ba li tankou si li te chèf yo. Ata moun peyi Arabi yo te pote sètmil sètsan (7.700) mouton ak sètmil sètsan (7.700) kabrit fè l’ kado.
12 Se konsa, pouvwa Jozafa a t’ap vin pi fò chak jou. Nan tout peyi Jida a, li bati sitadèl ak lavil pou sèvi l’ depo.
13 Li te gen pwovizyon an kantite nan tout lavil peyi a. Nan lavil Jerizalèm menm, li te gen anpil vanyan sòlda.
14 Men kantite ki te genyen dapre branch fanmi yo: Te gen Adna, kòmandan tout chèf batayon branch fanmi Jida a ak twasanmil (300.000) sòlda sou zòd li.
15 Li te gen avè l’ Jokanan avèk desankatrevenmil (280.000) sòlda sou zòd li.
16 Avè l’ toujou te gen Amasya, pitit Zikri a, ak desanmil (200.000) sòlda. Amasya sa a te pote tèt li limenm, san pesonn pa t’ mande l’ pou sèvi Seyè a.
17 Alatèt moun branch fanmi Benjamen yo te gen Elyada, yon vanyan sòlda, ak desanmil (200.000) sòlda ki te gen plak pwotèj ak banza.
18 Avè l’ te gen Jeozabad avèk sankatrevenmil (180.000) sòlda byen ame pou lagè.
19 Se moun sa yo ki t’ap sèvi wa a lavil Jerizalèm, san konte lòt sòlda wa a te mete an ganizon nan lòt lavil ak ranpa nan peyi Jida a.

1 Josaphat, son fils, régna à sa place.
2 Il se fortifia contre Israël: il mit des troupes dans toutes les villes fortes de Juda, et des garnisons dans le pays de Juda et dans les villes d’Éphraïm dont Asa, son père, s’était emparé.
3 L’Éternel fut avec Josaphat, parce qu’il marcha dans les premières voies de David, son père, et qu’il ne rechercha point les Baals;
4 car il eut recours au Dieu de son père, et il suivit ses commandements, sans imiter ce que faisait Israël.
5 L’Éternel affermit la royauté entre les mains de Josaphat, à qui tout Juda apportait des présents, et qui eut en abondance des richesses et de la gloire.
6 Son coeur grandit dans les voies de l’Éternel, et il fit encore disparaître de Juda les hauts lieux et les idoles.
7 La troisième année de son règne, il chargea ses chefs Ben Haïl, Abdias, Zacharie, Nethaneel et Michée, d’aller enseigner dans les villes de Juda.
8 Il envoya avec eux les Lévites Schemaeja, Nethania, Zebadia, Asaël, Schemiramoth, Jonathan, Adonija, Tobija et Tob Adonija, Lévites, et les sacrificateurs Élischama et Joram.
9 Ils enseignèrent dans Juda, ayant avec eux le livre de la loi de l’Éternel. Ils parcoururent toutes les villes de Juda, et ils enseignèrent parmi le peuple.
10 La terreur de l’Éternel s’empara de tous les royaumes des pays qui environnaient Juda, et ils ne firent point la guerre à Josaphat.
11 Des Philistins apportèrent à Josaphat des présents et un tribut en argent; et les Arabes lui amenèrent aussi du bétail, sept mille sept cents béliers et sept mille sept cents boucs.
12 Josaphat s’élevait au plus haut degré de grandeur. Il bâtit en Juda des châteaux et des villes pour servir de magasins.
13 Il fit exécuter beaucoup de travaux dans les villes de Juda, et il avait à Jérusalem de vaillants hommes pour soldats.
14 Voici leur dénombrement, selon les maisons de leurs pères. De Juda, chefs de milliers: Adna, le chef, avec trois cent mille vaillants hommes;
15 et à ses côtés, Jochanan, le chef, avec deux cent quatre-vingt mille hommes;
16 et à ses côtés, Amasia, fils de Zicri, qui s’était volontairement consacré à l’Éternel, avec deux cent mille vaillants hommes.
17 De Benjamin: Éliada, vaillant homme, avec deux cent mille hommes armés de l’arc et du bouclier,
18 et à ses côtés, Zozabad, avec cent quatre-vingt mille hommes armés pour la guerre.
19 Tels sont ceux qui étaient au service du roi, outre ceux que le roi avait placés dans toutes les villes fortes de Juda.

1 And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.
2 And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.
3 And the Lord was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
4 But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
5 Therefore the Lord stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
6 And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the Lord: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.
7 Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.
8 And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.
9 And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the Lord with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.
10 And the fear of the Lord fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
11 Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.
12 And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.
13 And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valour, were in Jerusalem.
14 And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valour three hundred thousand.
15 And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.
16 And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the Lord; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valour.
17 And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valour, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.
18 And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.
19 These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.
