1 Salomon te renmen ak anpil fanm ki moun lòt nasyon. San konte pitit fi wa peyi Lejip la, li te gen fanm ki soti nan peyi Moab, nan peyi Amon, nan peyi Edon, nan peyi Sidon ak nan peyi Et.
2 Li te marye ak anpil fanm ki soti nan lòt nasyon, atout Seyè a te bay moun pèp Izrayèl yo lòd pou yo pa janm marye ak moun sa yo, pou yo pa janm kite yo mele ak yo, paske moun sa yo va pran tèt yo pou fè yo sèvi bondye pa yo. Men, Salomon te sitèlman renmen yo, li marye ak yo.
3 Salomon te marye ak sètsan (700) madanm ki soti nan fanmi gwo chèf, lèfini li te gen twasan (300) fanm kay. Medam sa yo fè l’ vire do bay Bondye.
4 Lè Salomon konmanse granmoun, medam yo pran tèt li, yo fè l’ al sèvi lòt bondye. Li pa sèvi Seyè a, Bondye li a, ak tout kè li ankò, jan David, papa l’, te fè l’ la.
5 Li pran sèvi Astate, bondye peyi Sidon an, ak Milkòm, vye zidòl degoutan peyi Amon an.
6 Salomon tanmen fè sa ki mal devan Seyè a. Li pa sèvi l’ ak tout kè li jan David, papa l’, te fè a.
7 Sou mòn ki sou bò solèy leve lavil Jerizalèm lan, li bati de tanp, yonn kote yo fè sèvis pou Kemòch, vye zidòl degoutan peyi Moab la, ak yonn kote yo fè sèvis pou Molòk, vye zidòl degoutan peyi Amon an.
8 Se konsa li bati lòt tanp kote pou medam lòt nasyon li te marye yo al boule lansan ak ofri bèt pou touye pou bondye pa yo.
9 Seyè a move sou Salomon paske Salomon te vire do bay Seyè a, Bondye pèp Izrayèl la. Atout Seyè a te parèt de fwa devan Salomon,
10 atout li te ba li lòd pou li pa sèvi bondye lòt nasyon yo, Salomon pa t’ koute Seyè a, li pa swiv lòd li yo.
11 Seyè a di Salomon konsa: -Gade sa ou fè! Ou pa respekte kontra mwen te pase avè ou la, ou pa fè sa m’ te ba ou lòd fè. M’ap wete baton kòmandman an nan men ou, m’ap mete yonn nan chèf ou yo nan plas ou.
12 Men, poutèt David, papa ou, mwen p’ap fè sa nan vivan ou. Se nan men pitit gason ou lan m’ap wete gouvènman an.
13 Men, mwen p’ap wete tout peyi a nèt anba lòd li. Poutèt David, sèvitè m’ lan, poutèt lavil Jerizalèm mwen chwazi pou rele m’ pa m’ lan, m’ap kite yon branch fanmi pou li.
14 Se konsa, Seyè a fè Adad, yon moun nan fanmi wa Edon an, leve dèyè Salomon.
15 Men istwa Adad: Lontan sa, nan tan David t’ap fè lagè ak peyi Edon, Joab, kòmandan lame li a, te moute nan peyi Edon al antere kadav sòlda pèp Izrayèl yo ki te mouri nan lagè a. Lèfini, yo touye dènye gason ki te nan peyi a.
16 Joab rete sis mwa nan peyi a ansanm ak tout lame a jouk yo fin touye dènye gason ladan l’.
17 Lè sa a, Adad te timoun. Li te rive chape kò l’ ansanm ak kèk lòt moun peyi Edon ki t’ap travay kay papa l’. Y’ ale nan peyi Lejip.
18 Yo kite lavil Madyan, yo pase lavil Paran. Antan yo la, yo pran kèk gason avèk yo, yo desann peyi Lejip bò kote wa peyi a. Farawon an ba li yon kay pou l’ rete ak yon pòsyon tè pou l’ travay. Lèfini li ba li manje.
19 Adad sitèlman vin bon zanmi farawon an, farawon an pran bèlsè li, sè larenn Takpènès, li bay Adad li pou madanm.
20 Madan Adad fè yon pitit gason yo te rele Genoubat. Larenn Takpenès fè elve Genoubat nan palè a kote li grandi ansanm ak tout pitit wa yo.
21 Lè nouvèl lanmò David ak lanmò Joab rive nan peyi Lejip, tonbe nan zòrèy Adad, Adad di farawon an konsa: -Kite m’ tounen nan peyi m’.
22 Farawon an mande l’: -Poukisa? Eske ou janm manke anyen isit lakay mwen kifè ou vle tounen lakay ou? Adad reponn li: -Mwen gen tou sa m’ bezwen. Men se pou ou kite m’ ale. Se konsa Adad tounen nan peyi l’.
23 Bondye fè yon lòt moun leve dèyè Salomon ankò. Se te Rezon, pitit gason Elyada, ki te kouri kite lakay mèt li, Adadezè, wa peyi Soba a.
24 Rezon sanble yon bann gason avè l’. Se konsa li vin chèf yon bann bandi. Lè sa a, David te bat Adadezè, li touye tout moun peyi Siri ki t’ap mache avèk Adadezè. Se konsa Rezon desann lavil Damas. Li vin chèf lavil Damas.
25 Pandan tout rèy wa Salomon, Rezon pa t’ vle wè pèp Izrayèl la. Mete sou mechanste Adad t’ap fè pèp Izrayèl la, Rezon pa t’ vle wè pèp Izrayèl la menm. Rezon te vin wa nan peyi Siri.
26 Yon lòt moun ki te bay Salomon do ankò, se te Jewoboram, yonn nan moun ki t’ap sèvi avèk Salomon yo. Jewoboram te pitit Nebat, yon nonm lavil Zereda nan peyi Efrayim. Manman l’ te yon vèv yo te rele Sewa.
27 Men rezon ki te pote Jewoboram bay Salomon do. Salomon t’ap fè yo ranbleye teras ki bay sou solèy leve lavil Jerizalèm lan. Li t’ap fè repare miray Lavil David, papa l’.
28 Jewoboram te yon vanyan gason, lèfini li te konn sa li vle. Lè Salomon wè jan jenn gason an te travay rèd, li mete l’ reskonsab travay kòve nan pòsyon tè ki pou fanmi pitit Jozèf yo.
29 Yon jou, Jewoboram te fèk kite lavil Jerizalèm, li kontre sou wout li ak Akija, pwofèt lavil Silo a. Akija te gen yon rad tou nèf sou li. De mesye yo te pou kont yo sou wout la nan mitan jaden yo.
30 Akija wete rad nèf ki te sou li a, li chire l’ fè douz moso.
31 Lèfini, li di Jewoboam: -Pran dis moso pou ou, paske Seyè a, Bondye pèp Izrayèl la, voye di ou: Mwen pral wete kòmandman peyi a nan men Salomon, m’ap ba ou dis branch fanmi pou ou.
32 Salomon pral rete ak yon sèl branch fanmi. M’ap fè sa pou li poutèt David, sèvitè m’ lan, poutèt lavil Jerizalèm mwen te chwazi nan tout peyi Izrayèl pou rele m’ pa m’ lan.
33 Salomon vire do ban mwen, l’ al adore bondye lòt nasyon, tankou Astate, zidòl fanm moun peyi Sidon yo, Kemòch, bondye moun Moab yo, ak Milkòm, bondye moun Amon yo. Salomon pa fè sa ki byen devan je mwen, li pa mache dwat, li pa swiv lòd ak kòmandman mwen yo tankou David, papa l’, te fè l’ la.
34 Men, mwen pa t’ wete gouvènman tout peyi a nan men l’. M’ap kite l’ gouvènen konsa jouk li mouri. M’ap fè sa pou li poutèt David, sèvitè m’ lan, yon nonm mwen te chwazi, yon nonm ki te mache sou lòd ak kòmandman mwen yo.
35 Men, m’ap wete gouvènman tout peyi a nan men pitit gason l’ lan. M’ap ba ou dis branch fanmi pou gouvènen.
36 M’ap kite yon sèl branch fanmi pou pitit li a. Konsa, David, sèvitè m’ lan, va toujou gen yon moun nan ras li ap gouvènen lavil Jerizalèm, lavil mwen te chwazi pou m’ rete a.
37 Ou menm, mwen pran ou, m’ap mete ou wa sou tout peyi Izrayèl la. Konsa, w’a chèf sou tout peyi ou vle a.
38 Si ou fè tou sa mwen mande ou fè, si ou mache sou lòd mwen, si ou fè sa ki dwat devan je m’, si ou kenbe tout lòd ak tout kòmandman mwen yo tankou David, sèvitè m’ lan, te fè l’ la, m’ap toujou kanpe la avè ou. Lèfini, tankou mwen te fè sa pou David, m’ap fè ou toujou gen yon moun nan fanmi ou k’ap wa apre ou. M’ap ba ou peyi Izrayèl la pou ou.
39 Se konsa m’ap pini moun fanmi David yo. Men, se p’ap pou tout tan.
40 Se poutèt sa Salomon te soti pou l’ touye Jewoboam. Men, Jewoboram leve, li kouri ale nan peyi Lejip, bò Chichak, wa peyi a. Li rete la jouk Salomon mouri.
41 ¶ Se nan liv istwa Salomon an nou jwenn tout lòt bagay Salomon te fè yo ak jan li te gen bon konprann.
42 Salomon te wa lavil Jerizalèm, li te gouvènen tout pèp Izrayèl la pandan karantan.
43 Lè li mouri, yo antere l’ nan lavil David, papa l’. Se Woboram, pitit li, ki moute nan plas li sou fotèy la.

1 Le roi Salomon aima beaucoup de femmes étrangères, outre la fille de Pharaon: des Moabites, des Ammonites, des Édomites, des Sidoniennes, des Héthiennes,
2 appartenant aux nations dont l’Éternel avait dit aux enfants d’Israël: Vous n’irez point chez elles, et elles ne viendront point chez vous; elles tourneraient certainement vos coeurs du côté de leurs dieux. Ce fut à ces nations que s’attacha Salomon, entraîné par l’amour.
3 Il eut sept cents princesses pour femmes et trois cents concubines; et ses femmes détournèrent son coeur.
4 A l’époque de la vieillesse de Salomon, ses femmes inclinèrent son coeur vers d’autres dieux; et son coeur ne fut point tout entier à l’Éternel, son Dieu, comme l’avait été le coeur de David, son père.
5 Salomon alla après Astarté, divinité des Sidoniens, et après Milcom, l’abomination des Ammonites.
6 Et Salomon fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l’Éternel, et il ne suivit point pleinement l’Éternel, comme David, son père.
7 Alors Salomon bâtit sur la montagne qui est en face de Jérusalem un haut lieu pour Kemosch, l’abomination de Moab, et pour Moloc, l’abomination des fils d’Ammon.
8 Et il fit ainsi pour toutes ses femmes étrangères, qui offraient des parfums et des sacrifices à leurs dieux.
9 L’Éternel fut irrité contre Salomon, parce qu’il avait détourné son coeur de l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël, qui lui était apparu deux fois.
10 Il lui avait à cet égard défendu d’aller après d’autres dieux; mais Salomon n’observa point les ordres de l’Éternel.
11 Et l’Éternel dit à Salomon: Puisque tu as agi de la sorte, et que tu n’as point observé mon alliance et mes lois que je t’avais prescrites, je déchirerai le royaume de dessus toi et je le donnerai à ton serviteur.
12 Seulement, je ne le ferai point pendant ta vie, à cause de David, ton père. C’est de la main de ton fils que je l’arracherai.
13 Je n’arracherai cependant pas tout le royaume; je laisserai une tribu à ton fils, à cause de David, mon serviteur, et à cause de Jérusalem, que j’ai choisie.
14 L’Éternel suscita un ennemi à Salomon: Hadad, l’Édomite, de la race royale d’Édom.
15 Dans le temps où David battit Édom, Joab, chef de l’armée, étant monté pour enterrer les morts, tua tous les mâles qui étaient en Édom;
16 il y resta six mois avec tout Israël, jusqu’à ce qu’il en eût exterminé tous les mâles.
17 Ce fut alors qu’Hadad prit la fuite avec des Édomites, serviteurs de son père, pour se rendre en Égypte. Hadad était encore un jeune garçon.
18 Partis de Madian, ils allèrent à Paran, prirent avec eux des hommes de Paran, et arrivèrent en Égypte auprès de Pharaon, roi d’Égypte, Pharaon donna une maison à Hadad, pourvut à sa subsistance, et lui accorda des terres.
19 Hadad trouva grâce aux yeux de Pharaon, à tel point que Pharaon lui donna pour femme la soeur de sa femme, la soeur de la reine Thachpenès.
20 La soeur de Thachpenès lui enfanta son fils Guenubath. Thachpenès le sevra dans la maison de Pharaon; et Guenubath fut dans la maison de Pharaon, au milieu des enfants de Pharaon.
21 Lorsque Hadad apprit en Égypte que David était couché avec ses pères, et que Joab, chef de l’armée, était mort, il dit à Pharaon: Laisse-moi aller dans mon pays.
22 Et Pharaon lui dit: Que te manque-t-il auprès de moi, pour que tu désires aller dans ton pays? Il répondit: Rien, mais laisse-moi partir.
23 Dieu suscita un autre ennemi à Salomon: Rezon, fils d’Éliada, qui s’était enfui de chez son maître Hadadézer, roi de Tsoba.
24 Il avait rassemblé des gens auprès de lui, et il était chef de bande, lorsque David massacra les troupes de son maître. Ils allèrent à Damas, et s’y établirent, et ils régnèrent à Damas.
25 Il fut un ennemi d’Israël pendant toute la vie de Salomon, en même temps qu’Hadad lui faisait du mal, et il avait Israël en aversion. Il régna sur la Syrie.
26 Jéroboam aussi, serviteur de Salomon, leva la main contre le roi. Il était fils de Nebath, Éphratien de Tseréda, et il avait pour mère une veuve nommée Tserua.
27 Voici à quelle occasion il leva la main contre le roi. Salomon bâtissait Millo, et fermait la brèche de la cité de David, son père.
28 Jéroboam était fort et vaillant; et Salomon, ayant vu ce jeune homme à l’oeuvre, lui donna la surveillance de tous les gens de corvée de la maison de Joseph.
29 Dans ce temps-là, Jéroboam, étant sorti de Jérusalem, fut rencontré en chemin par le prophète Achija de Silo, revêtu d’un manteau neuf. Ils étaient tous deux seuls dans les champs.
30 Achija saisit le manteau neuf qu’il avait sur lui, le déchira en douze morceaux,
31 et dit à Jéroboam: Prends pour toi dix morceaux! Car ainsi parle l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël: Voici, je vais arracher le royaume de la main de Salomon, et je te donnerai dix tribus.
32 Mais il aura une tribu, à cause de mon serviteur David, et à cause de Jérusalem, la ville que j’ai choisie sur toutes les tribus d’Israël.
33 Et cela, parce qu’ils m’ont abandonné, et se sont prosternés devant Astarté, divinité des Sidoniens, devant Kemosch, dieu de Moab, et devant Milcom, dieu des fils d’Ammon, et parce qu’ils n’ont point marché dans mes voies pour faire ce qui est droit à mes yeux et pour observer mes lois et mes ordonnances, comme l’a fait David, père de Salomon.
34 Je n’ôterai pas de sa main tout le royaume, car je le maintiendrai prince tout le temps de sa vie, à cause de David, mon serviteur, que j’ai choisi, et qui a observé mes commandements et mes lois.
35 Mais j’ôterai le royaume de la main de son fils, et je t’en donnerai dix tribus;
36 je laisserai une tribu à son fils, afin que David, mon serviteur, ait toujours une lampe devant moi à Jérusalem, la ville que j’ai choisie pour y mettre mon nom.
37 Je te prendrai, et tu régneras sur tout ce que ton âme désirera, tu seras roi d’Israël.
38 Si tu obéis à tout ce que je t’ordonnerai, si tu marches dans mes voies et si tu fais ce qui est droit à mes yeux, en observant mes lois et mes commandements, comme l’a fait David, mon serviteur, je serai avec toi, je te bâtirai une maison stable, comme j’en ai bâti une à David, et je te donnerai Israël.
39 J’humilierai par là la postérité de David, mais ce ne sera pas pour toujours.
40 Salomon chercha à faire mourir Jéroboam. Et Jéroboam se leva et s’enfuit en Égypte auprès de Schischak, roi d’Égypte; il demeura en Égypte jusqu’à la mort de Salomon.
41 Le reste des actions de Salomon, tout ce qu’il a fait, et sa sagesse, cela n’est-il pas écrit dans le livre des actes de Salomon?
42 Salomon régna quarante ans à Jérusalem sur tout Israël.
43 Puis Salomon se coucha avec ses pères, et il fut enterré dans la ville de David, son père. Roboam, son fils, régna à sa place.

1 But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites:
2 Of the nations concerning which the Lord said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love.
3 And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart.
4 For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father.
5 For Solomon went after Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites.
6 And Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and went not fully after the Lord, as did David his father.
7 Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon.
8 And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods.
9 And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the Lord God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice,
10 And had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods: but he kept not that which the Lord commanded.
11 Wherefore the Lord said unto Solomon, Forasmuch as this is done of thee, and thou hast not kept my covenant and my statutes, which I have commanded thee, I will surely rend the kingdom from thee, and will give it to thy servant.
12 Notwithstanding in thy days I will not do it for David thy father’s sake: but I will rend it out of the hand of thy son.
13 Howbeit I will not rend away all the kingdom; but will give one tribe to thy son for David my servant’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake which I have chosen.
14 And the Lord stirred up an adversary unto Solomon, Hadad the Edomite: he was of the king’s seed in Edom.
15 For it came to pass, when David was in Edom, and Joab the captain of the host was gone up to bury the slain, after he had smitten every male in Edom;
16 (For six months did Joab remain there with all Israel, until he had cut off every male in Edom:)
17 That Hadad fled, he and certain Edomites of his father’s servants with him, to go into Egypt; Hadad being yet a little child.
18 And they arose out of Midian, and came to Paran: and they took men with them out of Paran, and they came to Egypt, unto Pharaoh king of Egypt; which gave him an house, and appointed him victuals, and gave him land.
19 And Hadad found great favour in the sight of Pharaoh, so that he gave him to wife the sister of his own wife, the sister of Tahpenes the queen.
20 And the sister of Tahpenes bare him Genubath his son, whom Tahpenes weaned in Pharaoh’s house: and Genubath was in Pharaoh’s household among the sons of Pharaoh.
21 And when Hadad heard in Egypt that David slept with his fathers, and that Joab the captain of the host was dead, Hadad said to Pharaoh, Let me depart, that I may go to mine own country.
22 Then Pharaoh said unto him, But what hast thou lacked with me, that, behold, thou seekest to go to thine own country? And he answered, Nothing: howbeit let me go in any wise.
23 And God stirred him up another adversary, Rezon the son of Eliadah, which fled from his lord Hadadezer king of Zobah:
24 And he gathered men unto him, and became captain over a band, when David slew them of Zobah: and they went to Damascus, and dwelt therein, and reigned in Damascus.
25 And he was an adversary to Israel all the days of Solomon, beside the mischief that Hadad did: and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.
26 And Jeroboam the son of Nebat, an Ephrathite of Zereda, Solomon’s servant, whose mother’s name was Zeruah, a widow woman, even he lifted up his hand against the king.
27 And this was the cause that he lifted up his hand against the king: Solomon built Millo, and repaired the breaches of the city of David his father.
28 And the man Jeroboam was a mighty man of valour: and Solomon seeing the young man that he was industrious, he made him ruler over all the charge of the house of Joseph.
29 And it came to pass at that time when Jeroboam went out of Jerusalem, that the prophet Ahijah the Shilonite found him in the way; and he had clad himself with a new garment; and they two were alone in the field:
30 And Ahijah caught the new garment that was on him, and rent it in twelve pieces:
31 And he said to Jeroboam, Take thee ten pieces: for thus saith the Lord, the God of Israel, Behold, I will rend the kingdom out of the hand of Solomon, and will give ten tribes to thee:
32 (But he shall have one tribe for my servant David’s sake, and for Jerusalem’s sake, the city which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel:)
33 Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do that which is right in mine eyes, and to keep my statutes and my judgments, as did David his father.
34 Howbeit I will not take the whole kingdom out of his hand: but I will make him prince all the days of his life for David my servant’s sake, whom I chose, because he kept my commandments and my statutes:
35 But I will take the kingdom out of his son’s hand, and will give it unto thee, even ten tribes.
36 And unto his son will I give one tribe, that David my servant may have a light alway before me in Jerusalem, the city which I have chosen me to put my name there.
37 And I will take thee, and thou shalt reign according to all that thy soul desireth, and shalt be king over Israel.
38 And it shall be, if thou wilt hearken unto all that I command thee, and wilt walk in my ways, and do that is right in my sight, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as David my servant did; that I will be with thee, and build thee a sure house, as I built for David, and will give Israel unto thee.
39 And I will for this afflict the seed of David, but not for ever.
40 Solomon sought therefore to kill Jeroboam. And Jeroboam arose, and fled into Egypt, unto Shishak king of Egypt, and was in Egypt until the death of Solomon.
41 And the rest of the acts of Solomon, and all that he did, and his wisdom, are they not written in the book of the acts of Solomon?
42 And the time that Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel was forty years.
43 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
