1 Sara viv sanvennsetan (127 an).
2 Li mouri yon kote yo rele Kiriyat Aba osinon Ebwon nan peyi Kanaran. Abraram pran lapenn pou lanmò Sara, li plenn sò li.
3  Abraram leve bò kote kadav la, li ale pale ak moun Et yo. Li di yo konsa:
4 -Se etranje mwen ye, se depasaj mwen ye nan mitan nou. Vann mwen yon anplasman pou m’ ka antere madanm mwen, konsa m’a wete kadav la devan je m’.
5 Moun Et yo reponn Abraram, yo di l’ konsa:
6 -Mèt, koute sa n’ap di ou. Ou se yon gwonèg Bondye voye nan mitan nou. Chwazi yonn nan pi bon kavo nou yo pou antere madanm ou. Pa gen yonn nan nou ki pou ta refize ba ou kavo li pou antere madanm ou.
7 Abraram kanpe. Pa respè pou moun Et yo, li bese tèt li byen ba devan yo.
8 Li di yo: -Si nou dakò pou m’ antere madanm mwen isit la, pou m’ wete kadav li devan je m’, koute sa m’ap di nou. Nou konnen Efwon, pitit gason Zoka a? Pale avè l’ pou mwen.
9 Mande l’ pou l’ vann mwen twou wòch Makpela a ki pou li nan bout jaden l’ lan. Mande l’ pou l’ vann mwen li pou pri li vo, pou sa ka sèvi m’ simityè isit la.
10 Efwon te chita la avèk lòt moun Et yo, bò pòtay lavil la, kote moun yo konn reyini an. Devan moun Et yo, devan tout moun ki t’ap pase bò pòtay la, Efwon reponn Abraram. Li di li:
11 -Non, mèt! Koute sa m’ap di ou: Mwen fè ou kado jaden an ak tout twou wòch ki ladan l’ lan. Mwen fè ou kado l’ devan tout moun peyi m’ yo. M’ap ba ou l’ pou ou ka antere madanm ou.
12 Men, Abraram bese tèt li byen ba devan moun Et yo.
13 Li pale ak Efwon pou tout moun ka tande. Li di l’: -Koute sa m’ap di ou: M’ap achte tout jaden an nan men ou pou pri li vo. Tanpri, asepte lajan m’ap ba ou pou li a. Se lè sa a m’a antere madanm mwen ladan l’.
14 Efwon reponn Abraram: -Mèt, tanpri koute sa m’ap di ou:
15 Yon moso tè ki vo katsan (400) pyès lò, pa gen rezon pou n’ap diskite pou sa. Antere madanm ou sou li non!
16  Abraram dakò ak sa Efwon di l’ la. Li peze lajan an, li bay Efwon li devan tout moun Et yo. Wi, li ba li katsan (400) pyès lò dapre jan kòmèsan yo te sèvi nan peyi a.
17 Se konsa, moso tè Efwon te gen Makpela a, anfas peyi Manmre a, ansanm ak tout twou wòch la ak tout pyebwa ki nan jaden an, jouk sou lizyè li,
18 yo vin pou Abraram, devan tout moun Et yo, devan tout moun ki te bò pòtay la.
19 Apre sa, Abraram antere Sara, madanm li, nan twou wòch ki te nan jaden Makpela a, anfas Manmre yo rele Ebwon an, nan peyi Kanaran.
20 Se konsa, Abraram achte jaden an ak tout twou wòch ki te ladan l’ lan, nan men moun Et yo, li fè l’ sèvi simityè pou li.

Genèse 23

1 La vie de Sara fut de cent vingt-sept ans: telles sont les années de la vie de Sara.
2 Sara mourut à Kirjath Arba, qui est Hébron, dans le pays de Canaan; et Abraham vint pour mener deuil sur Sara et pour la pleurer.
3 Abraham se leva de devant son mort, et parla ainsi aux fils de Heth:
4 Je suis étranger et habitant parmi vous; donnez-moi la possession d’un sépulcre chez vous, pour enterrer mon mort et l’ôter de devant moi.
5 Les fils de Heth répondirent à Abraham, en lui disant:
6 Écoute-nous, mon seigneur! Tu es un prince de Dieu au milieu de nous; enterre ton mort dans celui de nos sépulcres que tu choisiras; aucun de nous ne te refusera son sépulcre pour enterrer ton mort.
7 Abraham se leva, et se prosterna devant le peuple du pays, devant les fils de Heth.
8 Et il leur parla ainsi: Si vous permettez que j’enterre mon mort et que je l’ôte de devant mes yeux, écoutez-moi, et priez pour moi Éphron, fils de Tsochar,
9 de me céder la caverne de Macpéla, qui lui appartient, à l’extrémité de son champ, de me la céder contre sa valeur en argent, afin qu’elle me serve de possession sépulcrale au milieu de vous.
10 Éphron était assis parmi les fils de Heth. Et Éphron, le Héthien, répondit à Abraham, en présence des fils de Heth et de tous ceux qui entraient par la porte de sa ville:
11 Non, mon seigneur, écoute-moi! Je te donne le champ, et je te donne la caverne qui y est. Je te les donne, aux yeux des fils de mon peuple: enterre ton mort.
12 Abraham se prosterna devant le peuple du pays.
13 Et il parla ainsi à Éphron, en présence du peuple du pays: Écoute-moi, je te prie! Je donne le prix du champ: accepte-le de moi; et j’y enterrerai mon mort.
14 Et Éphron répondit à Abraham, en lui disant:
15 Mon seigneur, écoute-moi! Une terre de quatre cents sicles d’argent, qu’est-ce que cela entre moi et toi? Enterre ton mort.
16 Abraham comprit Éphron; et Abraham pesa à Éphron l’argent qu’il avait dit, en présence des fils de Heth, quatre cents sicles d’argent ayant cours chez le marchand.
17 Le champ d’Éphron à Macpéla, vis-à-vis de Mamré, le champ et la caverne qui y est, et tous les arbres qui sont dans le champ et dans toutes ses limites alentour,
18 devinrent ainsi la propriété d’Abraham, aux yeux des fils de Heth et de tous ceux qui entraient par la porte de sa ville.
19 Après cela, Abraham enterra Sara, sa femme, dans la caverne du champ de Macpéla, vis-à-vis de Mamré, qui est Hébron, dans le pays de Canaan.
20 Le champ et la caverne qui y est demeurèrent à Abraham comme possession sépulcrale, acquise des fils de Heth.

Genesis 23

1 And Sarah was an hundred and seven and twenty years old: these were the years of the life of Sarah.
2 And Sarah died in Kirjatharba; the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan: and Abraham came to mourn for Sarah, and to weep for her.
3 And Abraham stood up from before his dead, and spake unto the sons of Heth, saying,
4 I am a stranger and a sojourner with you: give me a possession of a buryingplace with you, that I may bury my dead out of my sight.
5 And the children of Heth answered Abraham, saying unto him,
6 Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.
7 And Abraham stood up, and bowed himself to the people of the land, even to the children of Heth.
8 And he communed with them, saying, If it be your mind that I should bury my dead out of my sight; hear me, and intreat for me to Ephron the son of Zohar,
9 That he may give me the cave of Machpelah, which he hath, which is in the end of his field; for as much money as it is worth he shall give it me for a possession of a buryingplace amongst you.
10 And Ephron dwelt among the children of Heth: and Ephron the Hittite answered Abraham in the audience of the children of Heth, even of all that went in at the gate of his city, saying,
11 Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the cave that is therein, I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee: bury thy dead.
12 And Abraham bowed down himself before the people of the land.
13 And he spake unto Ephron in the audience of the people of the land, saying, But if thou wilt give it, I pray thee, hear me: I will give thee money for the field; take it of me, and I will bury my dead there.
14 And Ephron answered Abraham, saying unto him,
15 My lord, hearken unto me: the land is worth four hundred shekels of silver; what is that betwixt me and thee? bury therefore thy dead.
16 And Abraham hearkened unto Ephron; and Abraham weighed to Ephron the silver, which he had named in the audience of the sons of Heth, four hundred shekels of silver, current money with the merchant.
17 And the field of Ephron which was in Machpelah, which was before Mamre, the field, and the cave which was therein, and all the trees that were in the field, that were in all the borders round about, were made sure
18 Unto Abraham for a possession in the presence of the children of Heth, before all that went in at the gate of his city.
19 And after this, Abraham buried Sarah his wife in the cave of the field of Machpelah before Mamre: the same is Hebron in the land of Canaan.
20 And the field, and the cave that is therein, were made sure unto Abraham for a possession of a buryingplace by the sons of Heth.
