1 Jozye reyini tout branch fanmi pèp Izrayèl yo lavil Sichèm. Li fè rele tout chèf fanmi yo, tout lòt chèf yo, tout jij yo ak tout notab yo. Yo parèt devan lotèl Seyè a.
2 Jozye di pèp la konsa: -Men sa Seyè a, Bondye pèp Izrayèl la, di: Lontan lontan, zansèt nou yo, Terak ak de pitit gason l’ yo, Abraram ak Nakò, t’ap viv nan yon peyi lòt bò larivyè Lefrat, kote yo t’ap sèvi lòt bondye.
3 Lè sa a, mwen pran Abraram lòt bò larivyè Lefrat la, mwen fè l’ travèse tout peyi Kanaran an. Mwen ba li anpil pitit pitit. Pou konmanse, mwen ba li Izarak.
4 Apre sa, mwen bay Izarak de pitit: Jakòb ak Ezaou. Mwen bay Ezaou tout mòn Seyi a pou li. Men Jakòb desann nan peyi Lejip ansanm ak tout pitit li yo.
5 Apre sa, mwen voye Moyiz ak Arawon nan peyi Lejip. Mwen fè gwo malè tonbe sou peyi a pou pini moun li yo. Mwen fè nou soti kite peyi a.
6 Lè mwen fè zansèt nou yo soti kite peyi Lejip, yo rive bò lanmè Wouj la. Moun peyi Lejip yo pran kouri dèyè yo ak cha lagè yo ak kavalye yo jouk lanmè Wouj la.
7 Zansèt nou yo rele nan pye m’, mwen mete yon fènwa nan mitan yo ak moun peyi Lejip yo. Mwen fè lanmè a vini sou moun peyi Lejip yo, li kouvri yo. Nou te wè ak je nou sa mwen te fè moun peyi Lejip yo. Apre sa, nou pase anpil tan ap viv nan dezè a.
8 Lèfini, mwen fè nou antre nan peyi moun Amori yo, lòt bò larivyè Jouden, sou bò solèy leve. Yo leve goumen ak nou. Men mwen lage yo nan men nou. Nou pran peyi yo a pou nou. Mwen disparèt yo devan nou kote nou pase.
9 Apre sa, Balak, pitit gason Zipò a, wa peyi Moab, leve vin fè nou lagè. Li fè chache Balaram, pitit gason Peyò a, pou l’ vin ban nou madichon.
10 Men, mwen pa koute l’. Konsa, li te blije ban nou benediksyon. Se konsa mwen sove nou nan men Balak.
11 Lèfini, nou janbe lòt bò larivyè Jouden, nou rive lavil Jeriko. Moun ki te rete lavil Jeriko yo pran goumen ak nou. Moun Amori yo, moun Ferezi yo, moun Kanaran yo, moun Et yo, moun Gigach yo, moun Evi yo ak moun Jebis yo fè menm bagay la tou. Mwen lage yo tout nan men nou.
12 Mwen voye yon kantite gèp panyòl devan nou. Yo fè de wa moun Amori yo kouri met deyò anvan nou rive sou yo. Se pa t’ ni banza nou yo ni nepe nou yo ki te fè sa!
13 Apre sa, mwen ban nou tè nou pa t’ janm travay plante. Mwen ban nou anpil lavil nou pa t’ janm bati. Se la nou rete koulye a. N’ap manje rezen nan pye rezen nou pa t’ plante, oliv nan pye oliv nou pa t’ plante.
14 Koulye a menm, se pou nou gen krentif pou Seyè a, se pou nou sèvi l’ ak tout kè nou tout bon vre. Voye bondye zansèt nou yo te konn sèvi lòt bò larivyè Lefrat la ak nan peyi Lejip la jete! Sèvi Seyè a.
15  Men, si nou pa vle sèvi Seyè a, depi koulye a chwazi sa nou vle sèvi a: oswa bondye zansèt nou yo t’ap sèvi nan peyi lòt bò larivyè Lefrat la, osinon bondye moun Amori yo t’ap sèvi nan peyi kote n’ap viv koulye a. Men, pou mwen menm ansanm ak tout moun lakay mwen, se Seyè a n’ap sèvi.
16 Pèp la reponn! -Nou p’ap janm fè lide vire do bay Seyè a pou n’ al sèvi lòt bondye.
17 Se Seyè a, Bondye nou an, ki te fè nou soti ansanm ak zansèt nou yo nan esklavaj nou te ye nan peyi Lejip la. Se li menm ki te fè tout gwo mèvèy sa yo devan je nou. Se li menm ki te pwoteje nou tout kote nou pase, nan mitan tout nasyon sa yo, lè nou t’ap travèse peyi yo.
18 Se Seyè a ki te chase tout pèp sa yo pou yo te fè plas pou nou ansanm ak moun Amori yo ki te rete nan peyi a. Nou menm tou, se Seyè a n’ap sèvi, paske se limenm ki Bondye nou.
19 Lè sa a, Jozye di pèp la: -Nou p’ap ka sèvi Seyè a, paske Seyè a se yon Bondye ki apa, yon Bondye ki fè jalouzi. Li p’ap janm padonnen peche nou yo ak sa n’ap fè ki mal.
20 Si nou lage Seyè a, si n’ al sèvi lòt bondye, Seyè a pral leve dèyè nou. Atout li te fin fè tout byen sa yo pou nou, l’a pini nou, l’a fini nèt ak nou.
21 Pèp la reponn: -Non. Sa p’ap janm rive. Se Seyè a n’ap sèvi!
22 Lè sa a, Jozye di pèp la: -Mwen pran nou sèvi temwen, se nou menm menm ki chwazi se Seyè a n’ap sèvi. Yo reponn: -Wi, nou tout temwen.
23 Jozye di yo lè sa a: -Koulye a, se pou nou pran tout bondye lòt pèp ki nan mitan nou ap sèvi yo, voye yo jete. Se pou nou apiye nèt ak tout kè nou sou Seyè a, Bondye pèp Izrayèl la.
24 Pèp la reponn li: -Se Seyè a, Bondye nou an, n’ap sèvi. N’ap koute tou sa li di nou fè.
25 Se konsa, jou sa a, Jozye pase yon kontra avèk pèp la lavil Sichèm. Li ba yo tout lwa ak tout regleman pou yo swiv.
26 Jozye ekri yo tout nan liv lalwa Bondye a. Li pran yon gwo wòch, li plante l’ kanpe anba pye chenn ki te anndan kote yo te mete apa pou Seyè a.
27 Epi Jozye di pèp la konsa: -Nou wè wòch sa a! Enben, l’ap sèvi yon mak pou l’ fè nou chonje paske li te tande tout pawòl Seyè a te di nou. L’ap sèvi yon mak pou l’ fè nou chonje pou nou pa janm vire do bay Bondye nou an!
28 Apre sa, Jozye voye pèp la ale, chak moun sou pòsyon tè ki te vin pou fanmi yo.
29  Apre tout bagay sa yo, Jozye, pitit gason Noun lan, sèvitè Seyè a, mouri. Li te gen sandizan (110 an).
30 Yo antere l’ sou tè ki te pou li a, nan zòn Timnat-Sera, nan mòn ki pou branch fanmi Efrayim lan, sou bò nò mòn Gach.
31 Pèp Izrayèl la te sèvi Seyè a pandan tout tan Jozye te vivan an, epi apre sa, pandan tout tan chèf ki te konnen sa Seyè a te fè pou pèp Izrayèl la te vivan toujou.
32 Pèp Izrayèl la te pran zosman Jozèf yo avèk yo lè yo t’ap soti kite peyi Lejip. Yo antere zosman yo sou moso tè Jakòb te achte nan men pitit Amò yo pou san pyès ajan. Se Amò sa a ki te papa Sichèm. Moso tè a rete pou pitit pitit Jozèf yo.
33 Apre sa, lè Eleaza, pitit gason Arawon an, mouri, yo antere l’ sou ti mòn ki te pou Fineas, pitit gason l’ lan. Yo te ba li ti mòn sa a ki nan mitan mòn ki pou branch fanmi Efrayim lan.

Josué 24

1 Josué assembla toutes les tribus d’Israël à Sichem, et il convoqua les anciens d’Israël, ses chefs, ses juges et ses officiers. Et ils se présentèrent devant Dieu.
2 Josué dit à tout le peuple: Ainsi parle l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël: Vos pères, Térach, père d’Abraham et père de Nachor, habitaient anciennement de l’autre côté du fleuve, et ils servaient d’autres dieux.
3 Je pris votre père Abraham de l’autre côté du fleuve, et je lui fis parcourir tout le pays de Canaan; je multipliai sa postérité, et je lui donnai Isaac.
4 Je donnai à Isaac Jacob et Ésaü, et je donnai en propriété à Ésaü la montagne de Séir, mais Jacob et ses fils descendirent en Égypte.
5 J’envoyai Moïse et Aaron, et je frappai l’Égypte par les prodiges que j’opérai au milieu d’elle; puis je vous en fis sortir.
6 Je fis sortir vos pères de l’Égypte, et vous arrivâtes à la mer. Les Égyptiens poursuivirent vos pères jusqu’à la mer Rouge, avec des chars et des cavaliers.
7 Vos pères crièrent à l’Éternel. Et l’Éternel mit des ténèbres entre vous et les Égyptiens, il ramena sur eux la mer, et elle les couvrit. Vos yeux ont vu ce que j’ai fait aux Égyptiens. Et vous restâtes longtemps dans le désert.
8 Je vous conduisis dans le pays des Amoréens, qui habitaient de l’autre côté du Jourdain, et ils combattirent contre vous. Je les livrai entre vos mains; vous prîtes possession de leur pays, et je les détruisis devant vous.
9 Balak, fils de Tsippor, roi de Moab, se leva et combattit Israël. Il fit appeler Balaam, fils de Beor, pour qu’il vous maudît.
10 Mais je ne voulus point écouter Balaam; il vous bénit, et je vous délivrai de la main de Balak.
11 Vous passâtes le Jourdain, et vous arrivâtes à Jéricho. Les habitants de Jéricho combattirent contre vous, les Amoréens, les Phéréziens, les Cananéens, les Héthiens, les Guirgasiens, les Héviens et les Jébusiens. Je les livrai entre vos mains,
12 et j’envoyai devant vous les frelons, qui les chassèrent loin de votre face, comme les deux rois des Amoréens: ce ne fut ni par ton épée, ni par ton arc.
13 Je vous donnai un pays que vous n’aviez point cultivé, des villes que vous n’aviez point bâties et que vous habitez, des vignes et des oliviers que vous n’aviez point plantés et qui vous servent de nourriture.
14 Maintenant, craignez l’Éternel, et servez-le avec intégrité et fidélité. Faites disparaître les dieux qu’ont servis vos pères de l’autre côté du fleuve et en Égypte, et servez l’Éternel.
15 Et si vous ne trouvez pas bon de servir l’Éternel, choisissez aujourd’hui qui vous voulez servir, ou les dieux que servaient vos pères au delà du fleuve, ou les dieux des Amoréens dans le pays desquels vous habitez. Moi et ma maison, nous servirons l’Éternel.
16 Le peuple répondit, et dit: Loin de nous la pensée d’abandonner l’Éternel, et de servir d’autres dieux!
17 Car l’Éternel est notre Dieu; c’est lui qui nous a fait sortir du pays d’Égypte, de la maison de servitude, nous et nos pères; c’est lui qui a opéré sous nos yeux ces grands prodiges, et qui nous a gardés pendant toute la route que nous avons suivie et parmi tous les peuples au milieu desquels nous avons passé.
18 Il a chassé devant nous tous les peuples, et les Amoréens qui habitaient ce pays. Nous aussi, nous servirons l’Éternel, car il est notre Dieu.
19 Josué dit au peuple: Vous n’aurez pas la force de servir l’Éternel, car c’est un Dieu saint, c’est un Dieu jaloux; il ne pardonnera point vos transgressions et vos péchés.
20 Lorsque vous abandonnerez l’Éternel et que vous servirez des dieux étrangers, il reviendra vous faire du mal, et il vous consumera après vous avoir fait du bien.
21 Le peuple dit à Josué: Non! car nous servirons l’Éternel.
22 Josué dit au peuple: Vous êtes témoins contre vous-mêmes que c’est vous qui avez choisi l’Éternel pour le servir. Ils répondirent: Nous en sommes témoins.
23 Otez donc les dieux étrangers qui sont au milieu de vous, et tournez votre coeur vers l’Éternel, le Dieu d’Israël.
24 Et le peuple dit à Josué: Nous servirons l’Éternel, notre Dieu, et nous obéirons à sa voix.
25 Josué fit en ce jour une alliance avec le peuple, et lui donna des lois et des ordonnances, à Sichem.
26 Josué écrivit ces choses dans le livre de la loi de Dieu. Il prit une grande pierre, qu’il dressa là sous le chêne qui était dans le lieu consacré à l’Éternel.
27 Et Josué dit à tout le peuple: Voici, cette pierre servira de témoin contre nous, car elle a entendu toutes les paroles que l’Éternel nous a dites; elle servira de témoin contre vous, afin que vous ne soyez pas infidèles à votre Dieu.
28 Puis Josué renvoya le peuple, chacun dans son héritage.
29 Après ces choses, Josué, fils de Nun, serviteur de l’Éternel, mourut, âgé de cent dix ans.
30 On l’ensevelit dans le territoire qu’il avait eu en partage, à Thimnath Sérach, dans la montagne d’Éphraïm, au nord de la montagne de Gaasch.
31 Israël servit l’Éternel pendant toute la vie de Josué, et pendant toute la vie des anciens qui survécurent à Josué et qui connaissaient tout ce que l’Éternel avait fait en faveur d’Israël.
32 Les os de Joseph, que les enfants d’Israël avaient rapportés d’Égypte, furent enterrés à Sichem, dans la portion du champ que Jacob avait achetée des fils de Hamor, père de Sichem, pour cent kesita, et qui appartint à l’héritage des fils de Joseph.
33 Éléazar, fils d’Aaron, mourut, et on l’enterra à Guibeath Phinées, qui avait été donné à son fils Phinées, dans la montagne d’Éphraïm.

1 And Joshua gathered all the tribes of Israel to Shechem, and called for the elders of Israel, and for their heads, and for their judges, and for their officers; and they presented themselves before God.
2 And Joshua said unto all the people, Thus saith the Lord God of Israel, Your fathers dwelt on the other side of the flood in old time, even Terah, the father of Abraham, and the father of Nachor: and they served other gods.
3 And I took your father Abraham from the other side of the flood, and led him throughout all the land of Canaan, and multiplied his seed, and gave him Isaac.
4 And I gave unto Isaac Jacob and Esau: and I gave unto Esau mount Seir, to possess it; but Jacob and his children went down into Egypt.
5 I sent Moses also and Aaron, and I plagued Egypt, according to that which I did among them: and afterward I brought you out.
6 And I brought your fathers out of Egypt: and ye came unto the sea; and the Egyptians pursued after your fathers with chariots and horsemen unto the Red sea.
7 And when they cried unto the Lord, he put darkness between you and the Egyptians, and brought the sea upon them, and covered them; and your eyes have seen what I have done in Egypt: and ye dwelt in the wilderness a long season.
8 And I brought you into the land of the Amorites, which dwelt on the other side Jordan; and they fought with you: and I gave them into your hand, that ye might possess their land; and I destroyed them from before you.
9 Then Balak the son of Zippor, king of Moab, arose and warred against Israel, and sent and called Balaam the son of Beor to curse you:
10 But I would not hearken unto Balaam; therefore he blessed you still: so I delivered you out of his hand.
11 And you went over Jordan, and came unto Jericho: and the men of Jericho fought against you, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; and I delivered them into your hand.
12 And I sent the hornet before you, which drave them out from before you, even the two kings of the Amorites; but not with thy sword, nor with thy bow.
13 And I have given you a land for which ye did not labour, and cities which ye built not, and ye dwell in them; of the vineyards and oliveyards which ye planted not do ye eat.
14 Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord.
15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
16 And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the Lord, to serve other gods;
17 For the Lord our God, he it is that brought us up and our fathers out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage, and which did those great signs in our sight, and preserved us in all the way wherein we went, and among all the people through whom we passed:
18 And the Lord drave out from before us all the people, even the Amorites which dwelt in the land: therefore will we also serve the Lord; for he is our God.
19 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye cannot serve the Lord: for he is an holy God; he is a jealous God; he will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.
20 If ye forsake the Lord, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.
21 And the people said unto Joshua, Nay; but we will serve the Lord.
22 And Joshua said unto the people, Ye are witnesses against yourselves that ye have chosen you the Lord, to serve him. And they said, We are witnesses.
23 Now therefore put away, said he, the strange gods which are among you, and incline your heart unto the Lord God of Israel.
24 And the people said unto Joshua, The Lord our God will we serve, and his voice will we obey.
25 So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and set them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.
26 And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of the Lord.
27 And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the Lord which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.
28 So Joshua let the people depart, every man unto his inheritance.
29 And it came to pass after these things, that Joshua the son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died, being an hundred and ten years old.
30 And they buried him in the border of his inheritance in Timnathserah, which is in mount Ephraim, on the north side of the hill of Gaash.
31 And Israel served the Lord all the days of Joshua, and all the days of the elders that overlived Joshua, and which had known all the works of the Lord, that he had done for Israel.
32 And the bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel brought up out of Egypt, buried they in Shechem, in a parcel of ground which Jacob bought of the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for an hundred pieces of silver: and it became the inheritance of the children of Joseph.
33 And Eleazar the son of Aaron died; and they buried him in a hill that pertained to Phinehas his son, which was given him in mount Ephraim.
