1 Menm epòk sa a, yon gwo foul moun te sanble ankò. Yo pa t’ gen anyen pou yo manje. Jezi rele disip li yo, li di yo konsa:
2 -Kè m’ fè m’ mal pou moun sa yo. Sa fè twa jou depi yo la avè m’, yo fin manje tou sa yo te pote.
3 Si m’ voye yo al lakay yo konsa san manje, y’a tonbe feblès nan chemen paske gen ladan yo ki soti byen lwen.
4 Disip li yo reponn li: -Nan dezè sa a, ki bò poun jwenn pen pou plen vant tout moun sa yo?
5 Jezi mande yo: -Konbe pen nou gen la a? Yo reponn: -Nou gen sèt pen.
6 Lè sa a, li fè foul moun yo chita atè; li pran sèt pen yo; li di Bondye mèsi, li kase yo an moso, li renmèt yo bay disip li yo pou yo mache bay tout moun. Disip yo mache bay tout moun pen.
7 Te gen kèk ti pwason la tou. Jezi di Bondye mèsi pou yo tou, li mande disip li yo mache bay tout foul moun yo.
8 Tout moun te manje vant plen. Yo plen sèt panyen pote ale avèk moso ki te rete.
9 Te gen katmil (4.000) moun konsa antou. Apre sa, Jezi voye yo ale.
10 Touswit apre sa, li moute nan kannòt la avèk disip li yo, li ale nan yon peyi yo rele Dalmanouta.
11 Farizyen yo vin rive. Yo tanmen diskite avèk Jezi: yo te vle pran li nan pèlen. Yo mande l’ pou l’ fè yon mirak ki pou moutre se Bondye ki ba li tout pouvwa sa a.
12 Jezi bay yon gwo soupi nan kè l’, li di yo konsa: -Poukisa moun alèkile yo renmen mande mirak konsa? Se vre wi sa m’ap di nou la a: yo p’ap jwenn okenn mirak.
13 Apre sa, li vire do l’ ba yo, li tounen nan kannòt la; li pati pou lòt bò lanmè a.
14 Men, disip yo te bliye pran lòt pen: yo te gen yon sèl grenn pen avè yo nan kannòt la.
15 Jezi ba yo lòd sa a: -Fè atansyon. Pran prekosyon nou avèk ledven farizyen yo ansanm avèk ledven Ewòd la.
16 Disip yo pran pale pou kont yo, yonn t’ap di lòt: -Se paske nou pa gen pen kifè l’ di nou sa.
17 Jezi vin konnen sa yo t’ap di konsa. Li mande yo: -Poukisa n’ap di: se paske nou pa gen pen? Se konnen nou pa konnen? Nou poko ka konprann toujou? Se bouche lespri nou bouche konsa?
18 Gen lè nou pa wè nan je nou? Nou pa tande nan zòrèy nou? Se bliye nou gen tan bliye?
19 Lè m’ te separe senk pen bay senkmil (5,000) moun yo, konbe panyen plen moso nou te pote ale? Yo reponn li: -Douz panyen.
20 Jezi mande yo anko: -Lè m’ te separe sèt pen bay katmil (4.000) moun yo, konbe panyen plen moso nou te pote ale? Yo reponn li: -Sèt panyen.
21 Lè sa a li di yo: -Nou pa konprann toujou?
22 Apre sa, y’ ale Betsayda. Yo mennen yon nonm avèg bay Jezi. Yo mande li pou l’ te manyen li.
23 Jezi pran men avèg la, li mennen l’ soti nan bouk la. Li pran ti gout krache, li mete nan je avèg la. Apre sa, li mete men l’ sou tèt avèg la: Li mande li: -Eske ou wè kichòy?
24 Avèg la louvri je l’, li di: -Mwen wè moun k’ap mache; yo sanble pyebwa.
25 Jezi remete men l’ ankò nan je l’ yo. Lè sa a, avèg la wè klè nèt. Li te geri, li te wè tout bagay klè.
26 Jezi voye l’ al lakay li, li di l’ konsa: -Pa antre nan bouk la.
27 Jezi pati apre sa avèk disip li yo; li ale nan tout bouk ki te nan rejyon Sezare Filip la. Antan yo t’ap mache, li poze yo keksyon sa a: -Ki moun yo di mwen ye en?
28 Yo reponn li: -Gen moun ki di se Jan Batis ou ye. Gen lòt ki di ou se Eli; gen lòt ankò ki di ou se yonn nan pwofèt yo.
29 Li mande yo ankò: -Bon, nou menm, ki moun nou di mwen ye? Pyè reponn li: -Ou se Kris la.
30 Lè sa a, Jezi ba yo lòd byen sevè pou yo pa di pèsonn sa.
31 Apre sa, li kòmanse di disip li yo yon bann bagay. Li di yo konsa: -Mwen menm, Moun Bondye voye nan lachè a, mwen gen pou m’ soufri anpil. Chèf fanmi yo, chèf prèt yo, dirèktè lalwa yo, yo yonn p’ap vle wè mwen. Y’ap fè touye m’. Men sou twa jou, mwen gen pou m’ leve soti vivan pami mò yo.
32 Li t’ap pale konsa aklè ak yo. Pyè rele l’ sou kote, li di li: -Pa pale konsa non.
33 Men Jezi vire tèt li, li gade disip li yo. Li pale sevè ak Pyè, li di li konsa: -Wete kò ou sou mwen, Satan! Paske, lide ou pa sou sa Bondye vle, men sou sa lèzòm ta vle.
34 Lè sa a Jezi rele foul moun yo ansanm avèk disip li yo, li di yo konsa: -Si yon moun vle mache dèyè m’, se pou l’ bliye tèt li, se pou l’ chaje kwa l’ sou zepòl li epi swiv mwen.
35 Paske, moun ki ta vle sove lavi l’ va pèdi li. Men, moun ki va pèdi lavi l’ poutèt mwen ak bon nouvèl la, li va sove li.
36 Kisa sa ta sèvi yon moun pou li ta genyen lemonn antye si l’ pèdi lavi li?
37 Ou ankò, kisa yon nonm kapab bay pou l’ gen lavi?
38 Si yon moun wont di se moun mwen li ye, si li wont pale pawòl mwen nan mitan bann moun alèkile yo ki vire do bay Bondye pou viv nan peche, enben, mwen menm tou, Moun Bondye voye nan lachè a, lè m’a tounen avèk zanj Bondye yo nan tout bèl pouvwa Papa m’ lan, m’a wont pran li pou moun pa m’ tou.

1 En ces jours-là, une foule nombreuse s’étant de nouveau réunie et n’ayant pas de quoi manger, Jésus appela les disciples, et leur dit:
2 Je suis ému de compassion pour cette foule; car voilà trois jours qu’ils sont près de moi, et ils n’ont rien à manger.
3 Si je les renvoie chez eux à jeun, les forces leur manqueront en chemin; car quelques-uns d’entre eux sont venus de loin.
4 Ses disciples lui répondirent: Comment pourrait-on les rassasier de pains, ici, dans un lieu désert?
5 Jésus leur demanda: Combien avez-vous de pains? Sept, répondirent-ils.
6 Alors il fit asseoir la foule par terre, prit les sept pains, et, après avoir rendu grâces, il les rompit, et les donna à ses disciples pour les distribuer; et ils les distribuèrent à la foule.
7 Ils avaient encore quelques petits poissons, et Jésus, ayant rendu grâces, les fit aussi distribuer.
8 Ils mangèrent et furent rassasiés, et l’on emporta sept corbeilles pleines des morceaux qui restaient.
9 Ils étaient environ quatre mille. Ensuite Jésus les renvoya.
10 Aussitôt il monta dans la barque avec ses disciples, et se rendit dans la contrée de Dalmanutha.
11 Les pharisiens survinrent, se mirent à discuter avec Jésus, et, pour l’éprouver, lui demandèrent un signe venant du ciel.
12 Jésus, soupirant profondément en son esprit, dit: Pourquoi cette génération demande-t-elle un signe? Je vous le dis en vérité, il ne sera point donné de signe à cette génération.
13 Puis il les quitta, et remonta dans la barque, pour passer sur l’autre bord.
14 Les disciples avaient oublié de prendre des pains; ils n’en avaient qu’un seul avec eux dans la barque.
15 Jésus leur fit cette recommandation: Gardez-vous avec soin du levain des pharisiens et du levain d’Hérode.
16 Les disciples raisonnaient entre eux, et disaient: C’est parce que nous n’avons pas de pains.
17 Jésus, l’ayant connu, leur dit: Pourquoi raisonnez-vous sur ce que vous n’avez pas de pains? Etes-vous encore sans intelligence, et ne comprenez-vous pas?
18 Avez-vous le coeur endurci? Ayant des yeux, ne voyez-vous pas? Ayant des oreilles, n’entendez-vous pas? Et n’avez-vous point de mémoire?
19 Quand j’ai rompu les cinq pains pour les cinq mille hommes, combien de paniers pleins de morceaux avez-vous emportés? Douze, lui répondirent-ils.
20 Et quand j’ai rompu les sept pains pour les quatre mille hommes, combien de corbeilles pleines de morceaux avez-vous emportées? Sept, répondirent-ils.
21 Et il leur dit: Ne comprenez-vous pas encore?
22 Ils se rendirent à Bethsaïda; et on amena vers Jésus un aveugle, qu’on le pria de toucher.
23 Il prit l’aveugle par la main, et le conduisit hors du village; puis il lui mit de la salive sur les yeux, lui imposa les mains, et lui demanda s’il voyait quelque chose.
24 Il regarda, et dit: J’aperçois les hommes, mais j’en vois comme des arbres, et qui marchent.
25 Jésus lui mit de nouveau les mains sur les yeux; et, quand l’aveugle regarda fixement, il fut guéri, et vit tout distinctement.
26 Alors Jésus le renvoya dans sa maison, en disant: N’entre pas au village.
27 Jésus s’en alla, avec ses disciples, dans les villages de Césarée de Philippe, et il leur posa en chemin cette question: Qui dit-on que je suis?
28 Ils répondirent: Jean Baptiste; les autres, Élie, les autres, l’un des prophètes.
29 Et vous, leur demanda-t-il, qui dites-vous que je suis? Pierre lui répondit: Tu es le Christ.
30 Jésus leur recommanda sévèrement de ne dire cela de lui à personne.
31 Alors il commença à leur apprendre qu’il fallait que le Fils de l’homme souffrît beaucoup, qu’il fût rejeté par les anciens, par les principaux sacrificateurs et par les scribes, qu’il fût mis à mort, et qu’il ressuscitât trois jours après.
32 Il leur disait ces choses ouvertement. Et Pierre, l’ayant pris à part, se mit à le reprendre.
33 Mais Jésus, se retournant et regardant ses disciples, réprimanda Pierre, et dit: Arrière de moi, Satan! car tu ne conçois pas les choses de Dieu, tu n’as que des pensées humaines.
34 Puis, ayant appelé la foule avec ses disciples, il leur dit: Si quelqu’un veut venir après moi, qu’il renonce à lui-même, qu’il se charge de sa croix, et qu’il me suive.
35 Car celui qui voudra sauver sa vie la perdra, mais celui qui perdra sa vie à cause de moi et de la bonne nouvelle la sauvera.
36 Et que sert-il à un homme de gagner tout le monde, s’il perd son âme?
37 Que donnerait un homme en échange de son âme?
38 Car quiconque aura honte de moi et de mes paroles au milieu de cette génération adultère et pécheresse, le Fils de l’homme aura aussi honte de lui, quand il viendra dans la gloire de son Père, avec les saints anges.

1 In those days the multitude being very great, and having nothing to eat, Jesus called his disciples unto him, and saith unto them,
2 I have compassion on the multitude, because they have now been with me three days, and have nothing to eat:
3 And if I send them away fasting to their own houses, they will faint by the way: for divers of them came from far.
4 And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness?
5 And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven.
6 And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and brake, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they did set them before the people.
7 And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them.
8 So they did eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets.
9 And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he sent them away.
10 And straightway he entered into a ship with his disciples, and came into the parts of Dalmanutha.
11 And the Pharisees came forth, and began to question with him, seeking of him a sign from heaven, tempting him.
12 And he sighed deeply in his spirit, and saith, Why doth this generation seek after a sign? verily I say unto you, There shall no sign be given unto this generation.
13 And he left them, and entering into the ship again departed to the other side.
14 Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, neither had they in the ship with them more than one loaf.
15 And he charged them, saying, Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the leaven of Herod.
16 And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have no bread.
17 And when Jesus knew it, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?
18 Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?
19 When I brake the five loaves among five thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? They say unto him, Twelve.
20 And when the seven among four thousand, how many baskets full of fragments took ye up? And they said, Seven.
21 And he said unto them, How is it that ye do not understand?
22 And he cometh to Bethsaida; and they bring a blind man unto him, and besought him to touch him.
23 And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought.
24 And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking.
25 After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly.
26 And he sent him away to his house, saying, Neither go into the town, nor tell it to any in the town.
27 And Jesus went out, and his disciples, into the towns of Caesarea Philippi: and by the way he asked his disciples, saying unto them, Whom do men say that I am?
28 And they answered, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others, One of the prophets.
29 And he saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.
30 And he charged them that they should tell no man of him.
31 And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and of the chief priests, and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
32 And he spake that saying openly. And Peter took him, and began to rebuke him.
33 But when he had turned about and looked on his disciples, he rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but the things that be of men.
34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
38 Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.
